Cecil Stoughton was the White House photographer during the JFK administration. I found this photograph that he took while JFK was in Houston the day before the assassination. He is in the Presidential follow up car. In the Dallas motorcade, he is listed as being in the Vice Presidential follow up car. Does anyone know if there is any testimony or sourced material that explains why he was in the VP follow up car in Dallas but was in the Presidential follow up car in Houston? I read his Oral History, but he is not asked that question there. Also, in looking at the photograph, JC is next to Kennedy. The sitting arrangement is different. Did someone change the sitting arrangement in the presidential car in the Dallas motorcade? This is a photograph of JFK in San Antonio

DAHLQUIST I could find was in the HSCA name index as an ASAIC,,, In every instance when an agent is being referred to, it says "SAIC" or "Special Agent", or "ASAIC", etc.... but not here. Below this is the page from a Nov 1962 report about a plot to kill JFK .... 4 lines from the bottom is ASAIC DAHLQUIST... Are they saying here an SS agent is running KLEINS that weekend or is there a different Edward DAHLQUIST? Thanks DJ ps... asked "not to discuss the case" suggests to me he was not an agent... FWIW

I thought this was an interesting new tidbit from a recent article on a Secret Service man on JFK's detail in Fort Worth, the stop before the Dallas: During his advance work, Howard had investigated approximately 30 people who had made some kind of threatening comment.He told me they came up with whatever reason they could dream up to put some of them in jail during the visit. Many of them disliked Kennedy solely because he was Catholic. “Some of them made the crack that they ought to kill that SOB,” said Howard. Can anyone tell me the background to the photographs taken inside the TSBD, especially when they were taken. So far the info I got from Ed Ledoux regarding the re-enactments are: All re-enactments are, November 25th1963:- Time/Life. Not considered to be a legal recreation. December 2nd – 4th 1963:- The Secret Service February 7th1964:- The FBI May 20 -25 1964:- The Warren Commission, carried out for them by the FBI Then I got this pic from Denis M. What I am trying to ascertain is the time frame between the event and the pix of the 2nd floor. Thanks for any helpful info!

FYI.... THOMAS LEMUEL "Lem" JOHNS has passed-on. On 11-22-63 he was one of the Secret Service Agent's riding within Dealey Plaza in an enclosed car behind then-Vice President LYNDON JOHNSON. JOHNS stated to the HSCA that, "the first two [audible muzzle blasts and/or mechanically suppress-fired bullet bow shock N-waves] sounded like they were on the side of me towards the grassy knoll" [RIF 180-10074-10079]. JOHNS remembered hearing/could hear a total of 3 blasts and/or shockwaves that sounded relatively evenly-spaced apart. JOHNS stated to VINCE PALAMARA in 2004 that he was NOT the agent that DP-witness/Dallas police patrolman JOE MARSHALL SMITH soon encountered behind the grassy knoll picket fence. DP-witness/NBC movie camera-filmer DAVE WIEGMAN stated to GARY MACK that while WIEGMAN was on foot in Dealey Plaza during and in the immediate aftermath of the shots, WIEGMAN did NOT ever see JOHNS up on the grassy knoll hill. Mr. Johns served in naval aviation during World War II and then worked as a Birmingham firefighter. He graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) near Birmingham and served as a criminal investigator for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He joined the Secret Service in 1954 and served on President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s security detail during the last two years of the Eisenhower administration. According to the New York Times, survivors include his wife, Nita; a son, Jeff; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Three generations of the Johns family have served in the Secret Service. In addition to Mr. Johns, son Jeff was on President Ronald Reagan’s security detail and grandson Michael was on details for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama through 2010. In 1998, Justice and Treasury department lawyers were considering legislation to exempt Secret Service agents from subpoenas regarding personal and political information overhead during their protective duties. Mr. Johns favored such a law and tried to clarify the types of information that agents could be called to provide. “If an agent witnesses a criminal act,” he told Newsday, “I don’t see that we can say we refuse to testify.
