Right. There isn't any abnormal climate change. The only climate change is consistent with that which has been going on since the planet came into existence. Causes include:

1) THE SUN

2) THE OCEANS

3) UNPREDICTABLE FACTORS for which human activity is not responsible since similar factors have always existed.

Crappy apologism.

The entire topic has been deleted for some reason.

It's turning into an Abbott and Costallo show.

John, I'm serious here. Please--before you reply--consider the "possibility" that the climate change "science" is not as "locked down" as we've been led to believe. Again, I'm not asking you to agree with me! Not at all. --I'm just asking you to consider the possibility that it is still un-settled.

If you can do that and then conduct "dispassionate" research (from a "clean slate" mentality) I will be in your debt. Here's why:

It's easy to find folks that adamantly disagree with me from the "other side" -- and -- it's easy to find those who agree with me from this side... It is much harder to find someone (from an opposing view) who is intelligent enough to "suspend judgement" in order to "consider" the opposing position. I need that. It helps me to, at the very least, refine my own position. Sometimes their findings will cause me to REVERSE my position.

Originally, I bought into the whole Man Made Global Warming idea. I changed my position because I found compelling evidence that, IMHO, impeached it. In other words, I was wrong, originally. It isn't the first time and it won't be the last.

Socialist candidate condemns climate fraudsters

Saturday, June 19, 2010

ewan_saunders.jpg

Socialist Alliance candidate for Brisbane Ewan Saunders.

On June 15, climate sceptics held a forum at the Brisbane Irish Club. This forum was the subject of a protest by climate change activists. Ewan Saunders is the Socialist Alliance candidate for Brisbane who helped organise the protest. His speech is reprinted below.

***

Ian Plimer, Bob Carter, Peter Ridd: these are the real climate fraudsters, never mind the so-called scandals around a few emails last year.

The time where it was okay to just ignore these fossil fuel lobbyists in academic garb has come and gone. Now we must nail these fraudsters for what they are.

The global campaign to attack and discredit climate science and climate scientists has scored big over the past two years, and this has been reflected in opinion polls. Doubt is a powerful weapon against action.

Characters like Ian Plimer use words like “fraud” and “swindle” to describe the undeniable scientific consensus that climate change is accelerated by human activity. Plimer and his friends are the real fraudsters, and people need to switch on to this very organised global campaign.

Almost invevitably, you will find these academics with deep conflict of interests on the subject of climate change, like Professor Plimer's longstanding mining industry interests.

The world should take heart in that the Australian Federal election clearly showed a recognition of Climate Change and a (practically, less than 4000 votes) total rejection of the Climate Skeptics (which I'd lump with historical revisionists, the ''truthers'', and the ''hoaxters'', particularly with hoaxters like Costella at the helm), all seemingly aiming to dumb down the world,

The danger these fringe groups pose, (in the case of the Oz election) is that these single focus groupings are mostly right wing and their preferences flow to the Coalition annulling the overwhelming Primary pro left-of-Coalition groupings. This has always been a feature of the Oz preferential voting system, utilised to the max by the conservative elements to undermine the Primary wishes of the Australian public.
