On balance what is your opinion of Alex jones?

Gareth Porter makes a convincing case that Israel rather than Iran was behind the attacks, but only if one does NOT verify his claims and check his sources. Most of his claims fall apart under scrutiny. In most instances this could be chalked up to him being too wedded to his thesis but in one case he seems to have deliberately mislead his readers.

CLAIM: “The preliminary forensic analysis of the bomb itself had estimated it to be 250-300 grams of explosives, but sources in the investigation later reduced the estimate to 200-250 grams. The 250-gram bomb that exploded near the Delhi High Court in May 2011 did not even damage the car under which it had been placed and was characterised by Police Commissioner B K Gupta as a "low-intensity and mild blast".”

TRUTH:

1) While it’s true one newspaper citing unnamed sources said “Preliminary forensic examination of the blast material showed traces of potassium chlorate and nitrate and the explosives were estimated to weigh around 250-300 grams” and another one publish less than a day later said “Sources said the bomb could have contained 200-250 grams of explosive” there is no indication the latter was a slight downward estimate rather the varying opinion of other experts.

2) Porter’s source did NOT say the May 2011 explosion was due to a “250-gram bomb”. The only reports I found commenting on the size of the bomb said (emphasis mine) “LESS THAN 250 gram explosive was used.”

http://newshopper.sulekha.com/less-than-250-gm-explosive-used-in-high-court-blast_news_1307055.htm

3) According to the book NOTES ON MILITARY EXPLOSIVES by US Army Maj. Gen. Erasmus Morgan Weaver “A stick of dynamite weighs about 6.73 ozs. (190 grms.)” [pg 267]*. Dynamite is mostly absorbent material like sawdust**, i.e. most of its mass is not explosive material.

* http://books.google.com.br/books?id=s84fL3fizA8C&pg=PA267

4) In any case different explosive materials vary greatly in their potency by mass or volume* and other aspects of bomb design can affect how much damage they produce.

* See Google book link above.

5) According to another news report about the May 2011 attack “Sources said that even 100 grams of PETN is enough to blast away a car.”

http://news.oneindia.in/2011/09/08/petn-emarges-as-the-most-deadly-explosive.html

6) The full paragraph of the later article about the Delhi embassy bomb reads:

“Investigators said similarities between the bombs used in Delhi and Bangkok suggested they were made outside the country and then smuggled in. Sources said the bomb could have contained 200-250 grams of explosive.”

He of course rejects the notion there were “similarities between the bombs used in Delhi and Bangkok” so he ‘cherry picked’ which of the investigators opinions he accepted.

CLAIM: ‘That information led investigators in Delhi to conclude that the operations in Delhi and Bangkok were "unrelated".’

TRUTH: This is true, unnamed Indian investigators said this, but it really stretches credulity to believe attackers on a motorcycle stuck a sticky bomb on an Israeli Embassy car in one Asian capital (Delhi) the same day as an Israeli Embassy car in another Asian capital (Tbilisi) had a bomb attached to it and the unintentional explosion of what was probably going to be another Israeli Embassy car sticky bomb attack using motorcycles in a 3rd Asian capital (Bangkok) was an “unrelated” coincidence.

In any case Porter goes on to contradict himself and claim the three attacks were probably coordinated by Israel. Nor did he ever explain why the differences in the bombs and methods would be more indicative of an Israeli rather than an Iranian operation.

CLAIM: “Despite the fact that a group of Iranian passport-holders were clearly involved with highly lethal bombs in Bangkok, there is good reason to doubt that they were working for Iran's IRGC or Hezbollah. They spent their first three days in the country with Thai prostitutes at Pattaya. That profile suggests Iranian mercenaries, like the former kickboxer hired by Mossad to assassinate Iranian scientist Massoud Ali Mohammadi in January 2010, rather than Iranian or Hezbollah operatives.”

TRUTH:

1) Porter never justified the notion IRGC agents would not associate with prostitutes. Are we to assume they are all as rigidly fundamentalist as the mullahs, even when in libertine Thailand? In any case it appears the mullahs avail themselves of Shia prostitutes in Qom, the religion’s holiest city* – so who would begrudge some black ops agents for patronizing ‘heathen’ whores in a faraway non-Islamic ‘Sin City’?

* http://www.uri.edu/artsci/wms/hughes/prostitution_holy_men

2) I am not denying that the Mossad killed some Iranian scientists there is quite a bit of evidence they did so but many questions remain about the assassination of Massoud Ali Mohammadi and the supposed “confession” of Majid Jamali Fashi (“the former kickboxer”)

a) According to Mohammadi’s former students he was “an expert on theoretical quantum physics rather than on nuclear fission”. Various other sources cited by Wikipedia he was a quantum physicist interest in cosmology among other subjects. “he was a member of an Iranian team at the Sesame Council, a joint project involving different countries including Israel which runs a particle accelerator in Jordan.” Although the Guardian reported this indicated “Ali-Mohammadi could have been associated with Tehran's nuclear ambitions”, the Sesame Council’s area of specialty is synchrotron light not fission, uranium enrichment etc. In any case it seems unlikely Iran would allow a scientist working on such a sensitive project to come into contact with Israeli counterparts especially one with Mohammadi’s politics.

B) According to the Guardian Mohammadi was “a supporter of the Iranian opposition movement” and apparently “a campus organiser of opposition protests against the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Wikipedia cited various sources confirming his association with the opposition. Two websites associated with the opposition Rahesabz (tied to the Green movement) and Rooz indicated he had been killed by the government.

c) Rooz among others questioned the ‘confession’ of the supposed killer which they classified as “taken from one of those American action movies.” The Guardian noted that “…seasoned observers questioned whether it was a show trial intended to cover-up Iran's embarrassment over its failure to protect its nuclear scientists.” According to the BBC:

“…the arrest and the confession shown on TV leave a number of unanswered questions. When and where were the suspected agents detained? How were they discovered? - Of course, there is a much bigger question to ask as well. Is the allegation that they worked for Mossad true or false?...And in Iran, opposition sources have claimed the professor was killed by the government because of his support for them.”

FWIW: “According to the Israeli website DEBKAfile, Fashi, an ardent supporter of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was a member of the death squads affiliated to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and took part in the violent suppression of the protests that followed the 2009 presidential elections. - The website added that Fashi was instructed to implicate Israel in Mohammadi’s assassination based on instructions from the Revolutionary Guard.”

3) The notion that the Iranians involved in the Bangkok plot were working for MeK, the Mossad or anyone but the Iranian government makes little sense because the one who helped set up the safe house, returned to Tehran before the mishap; another, whose role is unclear, did so hours after the explosions and one or two of the men who fled it after the disaster tried catch flights there.

On Feb. 16 Thai authorities announced that they had issued an arrest warrant for Leila Rohani who rented the safe house and returned to Tehran Feb. 5 they even released a scan of the photo page of her passport.

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Female-Iranian-suspect-already-escapes-to-Iran-pol-30176034.html

According to AP on Feb. 20 Thai National Police released a photo of Norouzi Shayan Ali Akbar and “Thai courts have issued arrest warrants for” him, Rohani and the 3 men who fled the safe house:

“Akbar…was caught on CCTV footage leaving the Iranians' home the morning of the blast. Deputy national police chief Gen. Pansiri Prapawat said Akbar left the country hours later on a flight to Tehran. - Officials have given contradictory accounts of Akbar's role. Police Lt. Gen. Winai Thongsong said he may have been a bomb-making expert who provided training to the other three Iranians. But Monday, Winai backtracked, saying Akbar may only have been a caretaker at the residence.”

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/feb/21/big-questions-still-unanswered-in-thai-terror-plot/?page=2#article

According to the same AP article and the Washington Times one of the men who fled the safe house Mohammad Kharzei “was arrested at the international airport that night, trying to board a flight to Iran. Sedaghatzadeh was detained the next day in Malaysia, and Thailand is seeking his extradition.” However other sources reported Kharzei was trying to fly to Malaysia. Various sources indicate Sedaghatzadeh the man arrested at the Malaysian airport “was… trying to board a flight to Tehran”

So if the operation was not authorized by the Iranian government, but rather was carried by the Mossad and/or anti-government Iranian groups, why would 2 – 3 of the men involved return or attempt to return to Tehran after the mishap? One could rationalize that perhaps they were patriotic Iranians duped into thinking they were working for the government, but that would NOT explain why the Iranian government has shown no signs of trying to find Shayan and Rohani 13 and 17 days after (as of March 3) the Thais issued arrest warrants for them, released their photos and informed the dates (and presumably times) of their return flights. If the Iranian government was NOT involved it would want to do so not just help the Thais and allay suspicion it was responsible but to find operatives involved with a group trying to overthrow them. The government has not even tried to explain who the Iranians arrested or sought by the Thais were working for. One will search official news sites PressTV.com and IRNA.ir in vain for any mention of Leila Rohani or Norouzi Shayan Ali Akbar ditto for a search of Google News for such an explanation from Iranian officials.

http://presstv.com/

www.irna.ir

http://news.google.com/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn

This is a government that does not stand for dissent, I think we all remember the violent repression of the protests questioning the last presidential elections, they tortured and condemned to death (commuted to 11 years imprisonment) Ayatollah Boroujerdi a sickly mullah who advocated greater separation of church and state*. So why wouldn’t they try to find two people involved with the Mossad and/or a violent terrorist group trying to overthrow them? The only rational explanation they were not working for the Mossad or MeK etc. but rather the IRGC or some other government agency.

* http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/oct/10/jailed-iranian-cleric-worsening-health

CLAIM: “In the larger context, it is very difficult to believe that Iran would have chosen New Delhi as the location for revenge against Israel, given the importance of India as a buyer of Iranian oil and India's delicately balanced political-diplomatic position in the larger conflict. “

TRUTH: There are numerous problems with this line of reasoning.

1) Why would India break with an important trade partner and regional power which like it is suspicious of Pakistan over an attack not targeted at Indian nationals and for which there would be plausible denial? Sudhir Vasudeva chairman and managing director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) said, "India is very dependent on Iran for oil. We get a bulk of our oil imports from Iran. We are looking at contingency plans. Out of 12 million tonnes of oil imports, 7 million tonnes come from Iran. So it is a serious situation."

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/iran-india-crude-oil/1/173926.html

2) There are several precedents for governments maintaining cordial relations after such attacks gone wrong. For example: the US and UK remained friendly with Israel after the Lavon Affair, the latter even cooperated with Israel in an attack on Egypt 2 years later; there was no break between Israel and Norway after Mossad agents were arrested for killing a Moroccan waiter they mistook for a Palestinian terrorist in Lillehammer, Norway - the agents “were soon thereafter released”; neither New Zeeland, the Netherlands nor Portugal cut diplomatic or trade relations with France after DSGE agents were arrested for blowing-up the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland harbor killing a Dutch citizen born in Portugal. As in the Norwegian case the foreign agents who killed an innocent foreigner were released after about 2 years.

CLAIM: “Nearly two weeks before the bombing, Israel acted to ensure that Indians would assume that a terrorist attack in Delhi on that date had been carried out by Iran. A letter to the Delhi police on February 1 signed by the Israeli Deputy Chief of Mission in Delhi and the First Secretary responsible for security expressed concern that Iran and Hezbollah would take revenge on the anniversary of the Mugniyeh assassination by carrying out terrorist actions against Israelis.”

TRUTH: Porter omitted that according to the cited article “this letter did not warn of any India specific inputs (targets).” He demonstrates circular reasoning it was based on the assumtion the Israelis were behind the attack but is also cited as evidence in support of that premise.

CLAIM: “The Israeli letter referred to an alleged Hezbollah terror plot against Israelis that had been broken up in Bangkok in January. But the idea of a Hezbollah plan to kill Israelis in Thailand had come only from Israeli intelligence - not from any local sources. The Thai police detained Hussein Atris, a Swedish-Lebanese, in January only because Israeli intelligence officials had told them they "suspected" that he and two other Lebanese, whom they claimed were linked to Hezbollah, might carry out terrorist attacks at tourist sites popular with Israelis.”

TRUTH: The cited NY Times article never indicated only the Israelis identified Atris of being part of Hezbollah in fact the author wrote that “American officials in Washington confirmed the Thai statements regarding a suspected Hezbollah connection but did not offer further details.” Note he said “THAI statements”, the author did not make it clear how much evidence of Atris’ ties to the Shiite group the Thais developed on their own but reported that the defense minister said ‘security agencies from Thailand and Israel cooperated in tracking the men, and that one had been arrested and was being questioned’. The article indicated several times that Thai authorities believed that Artis was tied to Hezbollah. Another article Porter cited indicated Atris admitted being a member of the group, more this below.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/14/world/asia/arrest-in-thailand-after-us-terror-alert.html?_r=1

CLAIM: “Atris admitted to owning large supplies of urea fertiliser and ammonium nitrate, which are ingredients in bombs, but Thai investigators concluded that they were not connected to any terror plot in Thailand, because of the absence of any other bomb components. The head of Thailand's National Security Council, General Wichean Potephosree, a former chief of police, expressed doubt that Atris was a terrorist, as Israel had claimed.”

TRUTH: This is the instance where it is hard to believe Porter made an innocent error.

1) According to the cited Stratfor article it is true that “Thai investigators concluded that [the explosives] were not connected to any terror plot IN THAILAND”, because they determined that they were to used ‘on targets abroad’. As mentioned above according to the same article Atris:

“…also allegedly told authorities that, although HE WAS A MEMBER OF HEZBOLLAH, he was not a member of the group's militant arm. A Hezbollah official in Beirut, Ghaleb Abu Zainab, told the Lebanese Broadcasting Corp. that Atris was not a Hezbollah member, while STRATFOR SOURCES HAVE TOLD US THAT HE WAS. Our sources also have confirmed Atris' reported confession to police that he was on the business side of things -- likely involved in procurement and logistics -- rather than the militant side, which involves such things as bombmaking or operational planning.”

To make a long story short according to the article Atris confessed and Stratfor analysts and Thai authorities concluded he was involved in a plot to acquire explosive material in Thailand to be smuggled “to a yet-to-be-named third country (a Stratfor source has cited the Philippines as a logical destination).” I.E. he was working in Thailand for a group closely tied to the Iranian government and helping set up a terrorist attack in another country.

2) While it is true FORMER police chief “Wichean …expressed doubt that Atris was a terrorist, as Israel had claimed,” the echoing Stratfor the cited Bangkok Post article indicated that “the suspect told investigators that they were not intended for use in any planned attack in Thailand. They were to be exported. Investigators were reported to have said they believed him.” Porter also failed to inform his readers that according to the Stratfor article he cited “Most other official statements since Gen. Sasiprapha's have focused on softening the threat and mitigating the damage done to Thailand's tourism industry. Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has called on the United States to revoke its warning, saying it will damage the country if it is prolonged.” This seems to have been Gen. Wichean’s concern, according to the Post he said, "Authorities must be careful when labelling [sic] someone a terrorist as it could bring about serious consequences." Despite Gen. Wichean’s supposed doubts as Feb. 22 Atris was still being held by the Thais and ‘charged with possession of prohibited substances.’

http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/22/a-shadow-war-from-bangkok-to-baku/

Lest I be accused of doing of what I am accusing Porter of doing according to the CNN blog cited above, ‘…the February 14 incident in Bangkok seems "too amateurish to be Hezbollah," says Benedetta Berti, who has written about its counter-intelligence war in the current edition of the CTC Sentinel, published by the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point.’ But in due respect to Ms. Berti, who knows far about the subject than I do, she seems to have forgotten about various bungled intelligence ops carried out by the Mossad and Western intelligence agencies and special operations forces such as: the assassination of Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in 2010, Operation Damocles, the failed hostage rescue missions in Munich 1972 and Iran 1980 and the aforementioned Lavon, Lillehammer and Rainbow Warrior incidents.

CONCLUSION:

Porter was at the very least careless and probably intentionally deceptive (at times); his research was poor and his claims were often at variance with the facts as stated by his own sources. I have gone over many points in this long article, I did so in the order they appeared in his article. The most compelling one indicting Porter was not playing straight with the facts was his obfuscating that one of his own sources indicated Atris was a member of Hezbollah and that Thai authorities concluded he was involved in a terrorist plot albeit one in another country. The most compelling one that the Iranian government was responsible for the attacks was that they have not captured or apparently even tried to find Shayan or Rohani.

Could be but we have no evidence that was the case and a lot of evidence contradicting it

====================== Point two, We dont know what they (Iran) had done

.

If they have tried to find them this has not been reported by any media outlets not even Iranian government controlled ones. The easiest way to find them would be to divulge their photos and details on TV and newspapers, once again there is no evidence they’ve done so.

And a new development makes the notion that anyone but the Iran government was behind the attack even more remote (EMPHASIS mine):

KUALA LUMPUR: SUSPECTED Iranian bomber Masoud Sadaghat Zadeh is expected to fight his extradition to Thailand when his case comes up for mention at the Jalan Duta magistrate's court here on March 15.

It was learnt that he had been given access to Iranian embassy officials here last week.

It is now believed that Masoud will fight the extradition order WITH THE HELP OF A COUNSEL APPOINTED BY THE EMBASSY.

http://www.nst.com.my/local/general/terror-suspect-may-fight-thai-extradition-order-1.54841#ixzz1oFuCTFva

Now I could imagine the Dutch, German, Scandinavian or perhaps even British governments being so ‘touchy feely’ as to pay the overseas legal fees of the member of a terrorist group trying to overthrow it but not the mad mullahs who sentence people to death simply for questioning their authority.

Also this:

Bangkok: Thai police today said they have identified two more suspects in last month’s triple explosions in central Bangkok. Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Pansiri Prapawat, who is heading the investigation, did not give details of the suspects but said his team was looking into their possible links to the five Iranians already in custody.

'We will avenge Israel over murder of Iran nuclear scientist'

Tehran blames exiled opposition group of acting on behalf of Israel in assassination of professor.

By The Associated PressTags: Iran nuclear Israel news

Iran's interior minister vowed on Monday to take revenge on Israel over the mysterious bomb attack which killed a nuclear physics professor last week.

Iranian officials have blamed an exiled opposition group, accusing it of acting on behalf of Israel and the U.S. A U.S. official rejected as "absurd" the Iranian accusations that the United States had a role in the slaying.

Iran scientist murder: Revenge killing call, CIA-Mossad blamed

Published: 13 January, 2012, 15:28 - Edited: 13 January, 2012, 19:44

The news of the killing of Iran’s senior nuclear scientist immediately gripped the country’s media, with some appealing for revenge attacks against targets in Israel and the United states.

Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, 32, was killed Wednesday by a magnetic bomb placed on his car by a motorcyclist in the capital Tehran. Iranian state-run media were quick to point the finger at Israel and the United States.

Iranian officials expressed their deepening anger and outrage at both countries, with media sources close to the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, such as the Kayhan newspaper, going as far as signaling that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps might carry out revenge assassinations.

“We should retaliate against Israel for martyring of our young scientist,” The New York Times quoted Kayhan’s general director, Hossein Shariatmadari, as saying. Referring to the Israelis, Shariatmadari, who was appointed by Khamenei, wrote, “These corrupted people are easily identifiable and readily within our reach.”

The supreme leader himself said Thursday that those behind the killing of the scientist would be punished.

"We will continue our path with strong will…and certainly we will not neglect punishing those responsible for this act and those behind it," the official IRNA news agency quoted the leader as saying.

Iran's Retaliation For Nuclear Scientist's Killing 'Will Extend Beyond Region'

January 11, 2012

[…]

The hard-line Rajanews, which said the terrorist attacks in Iran are being conducted with the aim of controlling "Iran's technical achievements" and preventing it from consolidating its role "as a regional power," claims many are asking why the Islamic republic is not retaliating.

The website quotes an unnamed "intelligence source" as saying that Iran is in a good position, following information it obtained from the alleged assassin of Alimohammadi, to take retaliatory steps against those behind the killings of the Iranian scientists. Iranian officials have said that Majid Jamali Fashi, who has pleaded guilty to murdering Ali Mohammadi, had received money and training from Israel.

"Iran's reaction will extend beyond the borders and beyond the region, it follows the strategy that none of those who ordered these attacks should feel safe anywhere," the source said, adding that Iran will enter a new era in its "special intelligence operations" against its enemies.

So:

• 10 people have been tied to the attempted attack, all are Iranians.

• 2 - 3 of them returned to the country but the government has made no effort to find them.

• 2 – 3 were arrested when trying to catch flights back to Tehran.

• 5 are in custody in Thailand and Malaysia and have received consular visits,

• At least one seems to have the benefit of a lawyer paid for by the Iranian government.

• There is no mention of the ‘suspects’ on government run news sites, at least not the English language ones.

• The government has yet to explain the involvement of its nationals in the escapade.

• The country’s Supreme Leader and Interior Minister and 2 hardline media outlets tied to the regime said the murders of the scientists would be avenged.

But Steve Gaal, a man of faith, believes, believes, the Iranian government had nothing to do with it.

I would like to see a THAI report in the next few days expressing the view that the 'THAI' government is upset regarding Iran's lack of help in finding the fugitives. sg

They issued arrest warrants for them and the infamous Javad Nikkahfard (whereabouts unknown); satisfying the Thais was only one of three reasons I cited for the Iranian government to locate them the others were to “allay suspicion it was responsible but to find operatives involved with a group trying to overthrow them.”

According to Al-Jazeera and a Thai professor they interviewed, the Thais are worried about offending the Iranians, Israelis and Americans.

The Stratfor Files: Flawed global intelligence, the rotten root of war

ooooooooooooooooooooo========ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

By Brenda Norrell

The Stratfor e-mails exposed by Anonymous and Wikileaks reveal the rotten root of global intelligence: Flawed global intelligence by a profiteering private security company that fuels global divisions and wars with misinformation.

The inaccurate and insulting categorization of those who sacrificed to attend Bolivia’s World Peoples Conference on Climate Change and the Protection of Mother Earth in 2010 is a good example of how flawed “global intelligence” is built on bigotry, racism, gossip and misinformation.

In 2010, Indigenous Peoples from throughout the world attended the gathering in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and established protocols to safeguard Mother Earth for the survival of this planet.

In the Stratfor files, US State Dept. sources mischaracterize the Indigenous delegations at the summit.

The Cochabamba climate summit participants are incorrectly categorized by US State Department sources as "anti-US, anti-Capitalism (specifically targeting Coca Cola), anti-UN, pro-coca (sic cocaine) and narco-trafficking platform that was embraced by 22,000 anti-US, left-wing anarchists in as a result of the recent Climate Change Summit in Cochabamba."

The flawed and inaccurate “intelligence” in these files includes e-mails about Bolivian President Evo Morales and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, as did the US diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks. However, the Stratfor files are strewn with seedy gossip. Stratfor staff appears more focused on power and control, with the fervor of religious zealouts, than on facts.

The e-mails reveal spying on activists, including the revelation that Coca Cola contacted Stratfor to spy on PETA. Specifically Coca Cola wanted to know if US members of PETA would be protesting at the Vancouver Olympics.

Stratfor’s client list also reveals a large number of oil companies, which comes as no surprise. Around the world, oil and mining companies target Indigenous Peoples and activists defending the land, water and forests, resulting in abuse, rapes, tortures and assassinations of villagers and Indigenous Peoples.

The e-mails reveal the smug and sinister games of global spies, far removed from the romanticized versions in television and films.

In an e-mail about President Chavez’ health, dated Dec. 6, 2011, Stratfor reveals its strategy, including taking “financial, sexual and psychological control” of sources.

"If this is a source you suspect may have value, you have to take control of him. Control means financial, sexual or psychological control to the point where he would reveal his sourcing and be tasked. This is difficult to do when you are known to be affiliated with an intelligence organization. The decision on approach would not come from you but from your handler. This is because you're position is too close to the source and your judgment by definition suspect. Each meeting would be planned between you and your handler and each meeting would have a specific goal not built around discussing the topic of interest which would ideally be hidden but in analyzing him personally and moving toward control.

The justification for the op would be specific classes of information and on gaining control the first step would be determining his access. If he failed the test contact would be terminated."

The e-mails include a report on the attack on ICE in Mexico, which left one agent dead and another wounded.

Read these e-mails, from the 5 million Stratfor files, Wikileaks Global Intelligence Files, at: http://www.bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2012/02/now-wikileaks-releasing-stratfor-global.html

Prabir Purkayastha, Newsclick, 27th Febraury 2012

Wikileaks is making public about 5 million emails of Stratfor (a private company that makes money out of selling strategic intelligence). In the global economy, knowledge of coming political events help companies make money out of futures. As trading in futures becomes important for bonds, stocks, currency and even food and raw materials, so does the value of information. So what was earlier the exclusive preserve of governments is now becoming an industry, with Stratfor a new animal in this global security zoo. Along with Blackwater, renamed as Xe Services and now once again name changed to Academi, Stratfor is seeking to get into the larger security market.

Stratfor did not stop with only providing information to its clients. From the treasure trove of its emails, it is clear that it also did what all intelligence agencies do. It was also monitoring activists who were fighting for the rights of the victims of the Bhopal gas leak, for Dow Chemicals. . At a price, its services were available – from collecting dirt on opponents of its clients to “fixing” them if required. A private dirty tricks agency.

Wikileaks itself was a target of Stratfor. There are more than 4,000 emails detailing the efforts of the US agencies and Stratfor in attacking Wikileaks and Julian Assange.

The emails makes it clear that Stratfor was also closely tied up with CIA and Mossad. Both must have found the veneer of “independent analysis” that Stratfor provided as very useful in shaping the public discourse. As Stratfor also gave out free backgrounders on critical issues, a host of people (including me) find it useful as basic information. It is widely used by journalists and analysts all over the world, despite its pro-American stand. What stands out – from a preliminary analysis by Wikileaks – is how close it was to the agencies of the US Government. Wikileaks states,

Stratfor claims that it operates "without ideology, agenda or national bias", yet the emails reveal private intelligence staff who align themselves closely with US government policies and channel tips to the Mossad – including through an information mule in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Yossi Melman, who conspired with Guardian journalist David Leigh to secretly, and in violation of WikiLeaks’ contract with the Guardian, move WikiLeaks US diplomatic cables to Israel.

What is even more disturbing in the Stratfor emails, is how it was modelling itself on the ethics or the lack of it of the intelligence agencies. George Friedman , the head of Stratfor tells Stratfor analyst Reva Bhalla in an email on how to exploit an Israeli intelligence informant providing information on the medical condition of the President of Venezuala, Hugo Chavez, "[Y]ou have to take control of him. Control means financial, sexual or psychological control... This is intended to start our conversation on your next phase."

When the Anonymous break-in had occurred in December last year , Stratfor had claimed that the list of private clients that had been made public was not of clients for whom it provided intelligence services. Friedman, the Stratfor head had stated.

Contrary to this assertion the disclosure was merely a list of some of the members that have purchased our publications and does not comprise a list of individuals or entities that have a relationship with Stratfor beyond their purchase of our subscription-based publications.

It is now clear from the emails that this was deliberate misinformation – Stratfor did have private clients for whom they did considerably more than just supply publications. The size of the payments as visible from its invoices is to the tune of half a million in some cases, easily making these the most expensive publications in history!

Goldman Sachs had partnered with Stratfor to pioneer a new venture called StratCap, which would use Stratfor's strategic knowledge for promoting investment funds indeed an innovative instrument for making money. In doing this, it would cross many of the barriers regarding conflict of interest – if it bet on a war to push up prices, how much of this would colour what Stratfor would put out regarding the situation? Would Stratfor be willing to stoke the fires of war in order to make a financial killing as StratCap?

The private intelligence network of Stratfor was similar to that of any Government intelligence agency – it was based on private informants in governments of countries, companies and journalists. They were paid through slush funds, some of which were illegal based on the US laws. Of course Stratfor was protected by its close contacts with the US agencies.

Wikileaks is working with 25 news partners including The Hindu to analyse these 5 million Stratfor emails. Once again, the electronic age shows how difficult it is maintain a public façade that is different from a private one. And Wikileaks has once again showed that in spite of being hamstrung by the US agencies stopping PayPal and credit card companies from transferring money, it still continues to fight the good fight.

Netanyahu: No Lebanon Will be on The Map

http://khilafatrevol...l-be-on-the-map

1) Completely irrelevant to the question at hand.

2) Almost certainly BS:

a) Besides the President of Lebanon, media tied to the Iranian government and a columnist for Pravda no one is reporting this, except for a few obscure forums and blogs that cite one of the above or each other.

B) It doesn’t even appear on the Die Ziet website

c) The author you cited started with a lie, the “wipe off the map” translation originated with Iranian government media and the president’s official website.

d) The supposed question was a non-sequitur

e) The notion that Israel would be building a railway in Switzerland is absurd and only reported by the Pravda columnist.

f) The site is run by former ‘journalists’ from the former Soviet mouthpiece.

...100 % in the dark.

You have a remarkable ability to rationalize away facts that contradict your fantasies. Finding the 2 – 3 plotters who returned to Tehran would give them a lot more “inside info” so would threatening to kill the families of the arrested men, so would accompanying the interrogations of them by Thai authorities. Amazing that after 21 days Iranian intel. would still be “100 % in the dark” isn’t one of your arguments they are so professional couldn’t have so botched up the attacks?

Colby uses Stratfor to back case. Seems they work with CIA and Mossad last link).

------------------------------------

1) I don’t see how your link supports that claim other than just saying “Stratfor was also closely tied up with CIA and Mossad” etc.

2) Porter also “uses Stratfor to back case”, in fact I used the exact same article he did. My main point was that his citation was fraudulent, cited one part that supported his case and ignored the rest.

3) Atris being part of Hezbollah is 2ndary or tertiary to my case and evidence for that is corroborated by other sources such as the Thai government, NY Times, Bangkok Post and the fact that he was a Lebanese Shia with several tons of explosive material in a warehouse whose own wife said he was involved in ‘importing’ Asian products to his homeland.

Thai Police Seek Extradition of Terror Mastermind

BANGKOK March 6, 2012 (AP)

Thai police say they will push for the suspected mastermind behind an alleged bomb plot discovered in Bangkok on Valentine's Day to be extradited from Iran.

Police Gen. Pansiri Prapawat says Norouzi Shayan Ali Akbar was the "key player" who planned the botched attack in Thailand's capital along with four other Iranians.

Pansiri said Tuesday that police will also ask the Thai government to request the extradition from Iran of Leila Rohani, who is believed to have helped accommodate the suspects prior to the explosions.

Police Lt. Gen. Winai Thongsong said investigators have so far found no links between the suspects and any international terrorist organizations.

Thai police said earlier that the group was targeting Israeli diplomats.

LOL and you complain that I’m insulting! As I noted “we have no evidence that was the case and a lot of evidence contradicting it” and finding the returnees was only one of the options I spelled out. Also, how would the Iranian gov’t know they had been killed unless they’d tried to find them? We have no evidence they tried. If their bodies turned up presumably PressTV would have told the world about it. So “I am not trying to insult you, but .....are you slow on the uptake ??”

"And MOSSAD is better at intel ops than Iran intel ??? You do agree with that ?? 100 % in dark If I was MOSSAD I would set up a small business near the airport for WET ops. body disposal.Get them right off the plane."

Yes it seems the Mossad is better than the IRGC but you have a colorful imagination! Perhaps you’ve watch too many Mission Impossible type movies. From the Asia Times piece we both posted:

According to this interpretation of events, Israel organized a "false flag" operation using Iranian nationals to further isolate Iran and increase international support for an attack against Tehran should a decision be made in favor of a military option to check its nuclear program.

While colorful, this theory does not stand up to rational analysis. It implies that Israel, a state which goes to extraordinary lengths to protect and defend its citizens, would be willing to target its own diplomats in the pursuit of its wider campaign against Iran.

Amazing that the Mossad could operate such a facility right in greater Tehran! Can you cite any cases of them ever doing so in the capital hostile of Islamic country? The only remotely close example I can think of would be the Lavon Affair almost 60 years ago.

One would think the Iranians would have surveillance cameras in the international terminal and thus would have images of anyone who met them. But oddly no such images have been made public.

Your link is broken Einnarr, in any case I already replied:

As for the Cartalucci piece why didn’t you provide the link to the original on Infowars? Did you think the IrishtimeZ (as opposed to the IrishtimeS) URL would lend it a bit more respectability? The Alex Jones protégé offered little more that rampant speculation. He implied that the Thai government was in cahoots with the Israelis but provided no evidence. He also wrote:

However, what appears to have taken place in Bangkok, and what appears to be the case unfolding in India and Georgia as well, was a false-flag operation carried out by Mossad and Farsi-speaking MEK agents posing as Iranian Quds operatives who approached potential patsies. These patsies were trained and provided with faulty equipment to carry out these attacks. After making their respective failed attempts, the patsies would incriminate themselves and Tehran by attempting to return to Iran, or confess upon capture and interrogation that they were working for who they believed to be Quds operatives.

Far from a theory, Foreign Policy magazine has recently reported that indeed Israel’s Mossad regularly pose as American spies to recruit MEK agents who then carry out their campaign of terror with connections leading back to the US, not Israel. While the information in FP’s report was most likely published in an attempt to bifurcate US-Israeli interests for plausible deniability ahead of a “unilateral” Israeli attack (as described in Brookings’ “Which Path to Persia?“), it does illustrate that false flag operations are not only real, but common place within Western intelligence operations.

Like you this self-declared ‘expert’ conflates MEK and Jundallah the FP article said Mossad was trying to recruit operatives from the latter not the former group. In any case Mossad agents in Europe pretending to be CIA to get Jundallah to attack targets in Iran is a very different scenario from Mossad operating with MEK in Iran and pretending to be Quds.

I agree that the arrest of Atris Hussein could be tied to the catastrophic farce in Bangkok. If he was involved in the original plot the Iranians presumably would have pulled out anyone tied to him. They might have chosen to rush in some inexperience substitutes rather than abort the mission.

The ‘evidence’ that the Thais are CIA/Mossad stooges? Let’s see 11 years-ago at the beginning of his term the brother of the current PM allowed the CIA to ‘rendition’ 2 – 3 suspected Islamic militants to a Thai military base, 2003 - 4 he sent about 440 Thai troops to Iraq “carrying out humanitarian and reconstruction work”, he hired some lobbying firms led by Neo-cons during the Bush administration, he once gave a speech before the CFR (uhga bugha) etc. etc.

"Golly Mr. COLBY the CIA never, ever, never penetrated a local police force, never !!!"

Strawman I never said they hadn’t, but once again you have no evidence this was the case, if the Thais were in cahoots with the Mossad why wouldn’t they claim to have found evidence trying the Iranians to the IRGC or some other Iranian gov’t entity? Or even that one of the 8 Iranians they arrested/questioned confessed to this?

"Gee, didnt I post in 'this' thread a (Israel) MOSSAD-Malaysia police link ??"

Oh yeah an Israeli company updated their communications system that obviously makes them Mossad stooges!

Mossad in Malaysia

Posted on April 22, 2010

Rehmat's World

http://rehmat1.wordpress.com/2010/04/22/mossad-in-malaysia/

------------------------------------------

On April 4, 2010 – Malaysia’s internationally known politician, Anwar Ibrahim (born 1947), country’s former Deputy Prime Minister (1993-98)and Finance Minister (1991-98) and currently the Opposition leader – claimed that Israeli intelligence agents (Mossad) have infiltrated into Malaysia’s Bukit Aman (Federal Police headquarter in Kuala Lumpur). The espionage link to Israel is the company named Asiasoft Global Pte Ltd. (Singapore), which has worked as a sub-contractor to upgrade the telecommunication systems for the police. Two of the directors of the firm, Izhak David Nakar and Ido Schechter, are reportedly Israeli citizen.

However, this is not the first time the ‘Israeli connection’ is raised. In 2008, then Malasian Home Minister had told the Parliament: “Then between November and December, a police report was lodged by the responsible police officers and investigated by one ASP Sairah. Then Sairah was transferred to Taiping and there was no news after that,” The Malaysian Insider.

How reliable is Anwar Ibrahim? Well, he is known for his good connections with the Jewish Lobby in the US through personal friendship and links to CIA-funded think tanks. In 2000, Malaysian politician Lim Kit Siang had asked former prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to declare the outcome of a three year police investigation to whether Anwar Ibrahim is a CIA operative. Anwar Ibrahim has been a good friend of former US Secretary of Defense under Bill Clinton administration, William S. Cohen (1997-2001), son of a Russian Jewish immigrant Reuben Cohen.

No other Malaysian politician has forged such a relationship with individuals of the likes of Paul Wolfowitz, the former US Secretary of Defence and ex- President of the World Bank, who fervently believes that Israeli military dominance and power in the Middle East serves US interests. One of the principal advocates of the invasion and occupation of Iraq in furtherance of Israeli goals in the region, Wolfowitz was described by Anwar Ibrahim as his “great friend,” a person in whom he has “faith,” in a speech in the US on 19 June 2006.

It seems now, Anwar Ibrahim is trying to turn the table on his old Zionist friends after being betrayed by Washington-based Zionist PR firm apco Worldwide, whose several directors are not only former Israeli high officials such as Shimon Shein , former Tel Aviv ambassador in Bonn, ItamarRabinovich and former Tel Aviv ambassador in Washington. Its CEO in Israel Gad Ben-Ari was a personal adviser to former PM Rabin.

Speaking at 2003 OIC summit meeting in Malaysia in October 2003 – Malaysian prime minister Muhathir Mohamad while urged Muslim youth to abandon suicide attacks and apply their faith to strive in science and technology – he blamed Israel and its western allies for creating most of world’s crisis and wars.

Malaysia is a multicultural, multiracial and multireligion society ruled by a secular democratic government in which Muslims make a slight majority (60%). This makes easy for the Judeo-Christian foreign agents to incite communal clashes in Malaysia. Malaysia doesn’t recognize Israel. Israeli professor Benjamin Beit-Hallahmi in his book, The Israeli Connection, wrote about Zionists’ hatred toward the Muslim world and their support for anti-Muslim insurgencies and covert military and intelligence operations to destablize Muslim countries especially those which don’t recognize the European Jewish occupation of Palestine. The book documents Tel Aviv’s involvement in Iran-Cntra fiasco, French genocide of Algerian Muslims, aiding Idi Amin and Marcos against Moro Muslim resistance, collaborating with Chinese and Burmese genocide of Muslims in those countries. Currently Israeli Mossad is very active in India where it carried out the 2008 Mumbai terrorist false-flag operation; in Afghanistan, in Lebanon, in Pakistan, in Indonesia, in Pakistan, in Iran, in Nigeria, in Somalia, in Malaysia and many other Muslim countries.

“Bangkok: Thai nationals COULD be involved in last months triple bombing in central Bangkok, an alleged plot to kill Israeli diplomats in Thailand, a top police official said on Tuesday.”

“Thai nationals COULD be involved”, the same police official was far more definite about the role of the Iranians, he said (as paraphrased by the PTI) ‘the five suspects had clear job assignments to prepare for the plot and had travelled in and out Thailand more than once.’ Iran is a country that restricts the right to travel overseas but you think these guys could have travel several times in a year without drawing scrutiny?

Also according to Al-Jazeera there is an Iranian community in Bangkok, a few could be Thai citizens, one is married to a Thai woman and has lived there 20 years.

And just in a Indian national tied to Iran was arrested yesterday for the attack in that country, see below.

Police arrest man with Iran link over Israel attack

NEW DELHI | Wed Mar 7, 2012 4:58pm IST

(Reuters) - A Delhi-based journalist working for an Iranian news agency has been arrested in connection with last month's Israeli embassy car bomb blast, a police official said on Wednesday.

It was the first arrest over the February 13 attack that Israel has blamed Iran of perpetrating. An Israeli diplomat's wife, her driver and two others were wounded, and the blast coincided with an attack on another Israeli diplomat in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The freelance journalist, Mohammed Kazmi, was arrested in a southern district of the capital on Tuesday evening and charged with criminal conspiracy, Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.

UPDATE 1-India police arrest man with Iran link over Israel attack

Reuters

7:42 a.m. CST, March 7, 2012

[...]

The Indian journalist, Mohammed Kazmi, was an employee of India's state television channel and also freelanced for Iran's state funded Islamic Republic News Agency, his lawyer and members of his family said. It was not immediately clear if he still worked for the agency.

[…]

Kazmi was not directly involved in the attack itself, in which a motorcyclist attached a magnetic bomb to the car in moving traffic and set off the device, police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.

The main suspect was a foreigner, possibly an Iranian, a senior police source who did not want to be named told reporters. "What we have learnt from the interrogation is that this man (Kazmi) had been in touch with the main accused," said the source.

"We have also found out that the main accused had visited Kazmi's residence."

[…]

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-rt-indiaisrael-blast-update-1-pixl4e8e74ex-20120307,0,1074919,full.story

"The case, which had gone silent, was reportedly cracked on the basis of inputs provided by Thailand, where the same Iranian group incidentally set off three blasts on February 14, which maimed one of the bombers. Increased surveillance in the wake of this intelligence led the police to Kazmi, a Press Information Bureau-accredited journalist. "There is a definite link between the Bangkok blast of February 14 and the New Delhi attack," said a top official.

[…]

… During the raid on Kazmi's house, police also recovered a photograph where the main bomber is seen with Kazmi at a function. The investigations revealed that Kazmi was in touch with a group of four to five Iranian nationals, all in their 30s, for over a year. The planning for the attack was done some time around February 2011 and the main bomber, who placed the "sticky bomb" on diplomat Tal Yehoshua's car on February 13, had even stayed for almost a month last year in Delhi and discussed the plan with Kazmi. The bomber had also visited Kazmi's residence several times.

[…]

… Kazmi, they said, had been visiting Iran and Middle-Eastern countries frequently. In fact, he visited the Middle East immediately after the attack. The arrest, however, has made India's tightrope walk on Iran a lot more difficult…

[…]

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/Attack-on-Israeli-diplomat-linked-to-Bangkok-blast/articleshow/12181263.cms

Mohammed Ahmed Kazmi, who was arrested by the special cell in connection with the attack on an Israeli embassy car on February 13, has revealed that the initial target of the assailant was Israel’s diplomatic mission in Chankya Puri.

Top police sources disclosed that the plan to target Israeli mission was, however, dropped after the foreign national, who is suspected to have carried out the attack and left the country on the day of the attack itself, found the security arrangements at the Israeli embassy “risky”. Sources said this foreign national is believed to have links with the spy agency of Iran.

Officers from a special team claimed they moved in on Kazmi on the basis of “clinching evidence” linking him to the terror bid. This includes “a substantial number of calls” he made to Syria and Iran, an officer said.

“My husband is innocent and he has paid for speaking the truth. He has been arrested for speaking out in favour of Iran and against Israel as well as America in a talk show on a news channel. Our Khuda (God) is with us and he will dispense justice,” said Jahan Ara, 53, Kazmi’s wife. Ara was later seen praying at a dargah.

Kazmi, a native of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, came to Delhi with his family nearly 25 years ago. Earlier, they lived in Welcome area of northeast Delhi. Eight years ago, they bought a house near Karbala (a Shia shrine) in the BK Dutt colony of Jor Bagh and have lived here since then. Kazmi’s is the only Muslim family living in the area.

His lawyer said he had taken at least one reporting trip to Iran on behalf of India’s state broadcaster.

NEW DELHI – Delhi Police arrested an Indian journalist, Syed Mohammed Ahmad Kazmi, a Shi’ite with longstanding Iranian connections, on Tuesday for his alleged role in facilitating the February 13 bombing of an Israeli Embassy car.

[…]

…They also disclosed that Kazmi is likely to have visited the Israeli Embassy…

[…]

“He was a frequent visitor to Iran since 1983 and has visited several countries in the Middle East, including Iraq and Syria,” an official close to the investigation said.

[…]

Karmon added that the arrest of Kazmi fits in with an established Iranian pattern of using locals while setting up attacks abroad.

“In terms of characteristics, they set up a local infrastructure using Sunnis or Shi’ites.

They [the Iranians] don’t care, as long as the job gets done,” he said.

Often, “the serious operational people” are Iranians or Hezbollah operatives, and arrive briefly in the designated country to create the explosives before leaving, Karmon said.

Past terror plots organized by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have followed similar patterns in South America, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, he added.

Karmon pointed to a 2008 plot to blow up the Israeli embassy in Baku, in which two Lebanese suspects and four Azerbaijani nationals were arrested. The Lebanese men have since been sentenced to 15 years behind bars each. Several Iranian, Lebanese and Azerbaijani members of the terror ring escaped to Iran, he added.

Similarly, in 1999, an Indonesia terror suspect was arrested in the Philippines, and told authorities he had been recruited by Hezbollah, together with other Indonesians and Malaysians. The suspects trained in Lebanon before being dispatched to attack targets in Australia and Israel.

“This has been happening again and again since 1983,” Karmon said. In many cases, Lebanese Shi’ite expatriates are approached for recruitment.
