Proposed Military Strike on Syria

A new trove of documents, obtained by an RT Documentary crew who recently uncovered details of illicit ISIS oil business with Turkey, sheds light on jihadists’ lucrative trade of looted antiquities along their well-established oil and weapons transit routes.

There is no official accounting that would illustrate the true scale of looting being undertaken in Syria, a land once rich with cultural treasures. However, there is no doubt that since radical Islamists established a foothold in the region under raging civil war, pieces of the world’s global heritage have ended up in the hands of terrorists.

Along with oil smuggling, a lucrative trade in antiquities has become ISIS’s source of income to support its devastating operations, many of which leveled unique historic sites such as Palmyra. Artifacts, some worth thousands of dollars apiece, have been turning up in antique markets from eastern Europe to the US.

Following the exposure of the details of the ISIS oil business, RT has exclusively obtained additional evidence that sheds light on the jihadists’ black market of plundered treasures and its transit routes via Turkey.

According to a document that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) turned over to an RT Documentary crew, the so-called Ministry of Natural Resources established by ISIS to hold grip of the oil operations has a separate “Department of Artifacts.”

“One of the new documents is a note that has the same letterhead of ISIS’s Ministry of Natural Resources as the oil bills of sale, which we discussed last time,” a reporter, whose name and face have been obscured for security reasons, explained. The letterhead, similar to those found on oil invoices that Kurdish soldiers seized from what used to be the homes of IS fighters, is visible in the upper-right corner of the newly obtained document.

The note, apparently addressed to checkpoint sentries, asks “brothers at the border” to allow a Turkish antiquity seller into Syria for the purposes of mutual profit. It reads:

“To the brother responsible for the border, Please assist the passage of brother Hussein Hania Sarira through your post along with the man from Turkey – the artifacts trader, for the purpose of working with us in the department of artifacts in the Ministry of Natural Resources. May Allah bless you, Loving brother Abu Uafa At-Tunisi.”

While filming in the town of Shaddadi, located in the Syrian province Hasakah, RT reporters came across archaeological pieces, fragments of various ceramic pots. Abandoned in a tunnel, which ISIS fighters fled through, they were discovered by the Kurdish YPG troops after they liberated Shaddadi from jihadists in the summer of 2015.

Karayılan: Historic spring process begins

Tuesday, March 29, 2016 12:40 PM
BEHDINAN - ANF

Kurdistan People’s Defense Forces Central Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan addressed guerrillas on the 30th year anniversary of Mahsum Korkmaz’s (Commander Egîd) martyrdom.

Karayılan addressed guerrillas based in South and North Kurdistan via long-distance transmitters, and emphasized the importance of Mahsum Korkmaz for the Kurdistan Freedom Movement. Regarding the urban resistance in Kurdistan and recent AKP policies, Karayılan said that Kurdistan guerrillas should put the historic spring process to use and the Kurdish people would come out victorious at the end of this process. Karayılan recalled people’s demands for the HPG to make an intervention during spring months. Below are some of the headlines of Murat Karayılan’s recent statements:

‘EGÎD IS THE SYMBOL OF SUCCESS AND THE SPIRIT OF ATTACK’

30 years have passed since the martyrdom of our great commander Egîd. The struggle of comrade Egîd entered a new and crucial phase recently. We commemorate comrade Egîd on the 30th year anniversary of his martyrdom, and repeat our promise to him and all other revolutionary martyrs of Kurdistan. The Kurdistan Freedom Struggle will honor their memories by reaching success.

Comrade Egîd was a spirit, a stance, and a way of becoming a commander. But above all, he was the symbol of success and attack. 32 years ago, on 15 August 1984, 32 people led by commander Egîd began their march for freedom. Their struggle has made history, and comrade Egîd has tens of thousands of soldiers and millions of followers.

‘ERDOĞAN WILL LOSE, JUST LIKE HOW KENAN EVREN LOST’

When the August 15 initiative took place, Kenan Evren, the president of Turkey back then, stated that the perpetrators would be caught and brought to justice within 72 hours no matter where they hid. However, 32 years have passed and the march of that little group has grown into a movement of tens of thousands of guerrillas and millions of people. The side that lost during this process has been Turkish colonialism based on denial, authoritarianism and assimilation. They thought that they could defeat our movement through their use of NATO power and organization of international conspiracies, but our movement is at its strongest. The Kurdistan Freedom Movement is one of the major actors in the Middle East, and the resistance spirit of Kurdistan guerrillas in the mountains has spread over to the youth in plains and urban centers. Erdoğan will fail to produce results and experience defeat, just like Kenan Evren who failed to finish the guerrilla movement within 72 hours. In the fall of 2015, AKP colonialism had claimed that the resistance in urban areas would end within a month. However, the fire of urban resistance has not beet put out over the last 7 months.

Today, Erdoğan knows that he cannot defeat the guerrillas of Kurdistan but he wages war on our movement in order to strengthen its power. Under the pretense of ‘providing public order,’ the Turkish state tried to exert dominance in urban areas this winter. They also tried to damage and weaken us in the mountains, so that our capabilities would be limited in the spring of 2016. However, they have failed. It is true that they attacked Medya Defense Zones and North Kurdistan in many different ways, but their attacks failed. They tried to weaken our forces in Shengal with the support of certain forces in South Kurdistan, but Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas defeated their plans and played an important role in the liberation of Shengal. Our guerillas have even successfully liberated the strategic location of Medîban without any aerial support. Today, Kurdistan Freedom Forces play a fundamental role in the liberation of Mosul and Til Afer.

Turkey also tried to siege the revolution in Rojava diplomatically, Erdoğan even said ‘Us or them’ regarding this issue. They tried to make international powers object to Rojava Revolution, but they failed miserably and the revolution grew and took the vital step of declaring North Syria Federation with the support of Arab people in the region.

'AKP IS SCARED BECAUSE IT IS GUILTY'

Its diplomatic and military failures, coupled with our people’s growing urban resistance, scares the AKP. This is why all AKP officials say that they are not scared in their press statements. They tried to bring us to kneel last year, and now they say that they are not scared and would not be brought to kneel. We know that they are scared of us, they are scared of the reality of Kurdistan because they are guilty. They burned unarmed civilians in Cizre and destroyed Kurdish cities, they are scared because of their crimes against humanity.

'MARTYRS OF SUR AND CİZRE PAVE THE WAY FOR VICTORY'

When the Turkish army started attacking urban resistance, we warned that we would intervene if the army waged a war in the cities. They used tanks and destroyed cities as they attacked young people who were only using shotguns and Kalashnikovs. Their true aim was to destroy Kurdish cities, and they tried to bring our people and youth to kneel with their cowardly attacks.

However, the resistance in Sur and Cizre against colonial attacks was historic. It is true that we have martyrs, but these martyrs pave the way for victory. This spirit is the spirit of our times. It is possible to reach results if we have this spirit, take lessons from previous practices, and have a diverse tactical approach.

'HPG SHOULD NOW INTERVENE'

Spring has come, the HPG should now intervene. However, this intervention should not be in the form of entering urban areas. It should be in the form of supporting the self-defense resistance of Kurdish youth under the umbrella of YPS from the mountains. The HPG action in Mermer military post is a successful step in this direction, and the HPG should be active in rural areas in order to show solidarity with the resistance in urban areas. The HPG would not intervene if the army had not attacked urban areas, but we have to intervene since the Turkish army mobilized its forces against the Kurdish youth in cities. There was no need for such a war, and the issue of trenches would have been resolved if the state had responded to the issue differently.

Our people’s demand for autonomy is a universal right. Different cultures and languages coexist in the world through the formula of autonomy. Kurdish people’s demand for autonomy is appropriate, and the resistance against the attacks on our people’s demand is a resistance of democracy and freedom. The struggle for autonomy in Kurdistan democratizes Turkey, but the HPG should support the resistance against the Turkish state’s attacks on autonomy demands with tanks and artillery.

'FREEDOM OF LEADER APO IS THE ONLY SOLUTION PATH'

Turkish state officials should know that they cannot win this war. Cities, mountains and plains are all sites of resistance. They should see this reality. The Erdoğan regime should stop killing Turkish and Kurdish youth, and agree to a solution. The freedom of Leader Apo and the autonomy of Kurdish people is the only solution path, and there is no alternative option.

'WE ARE BOUND TO SUCCEED'

A historic spring period is underway and we enter the spring with great opportunities. We are at our strongest, and we can take advantage of these opportunities and carry out appropriate actions. It is important for our guerrillas to prepare themselves. Our guerrillas did not receive a critical blow this winter and we believe that they prepared themselves sufficiently. We trust in our guerrillas just like Leader Apo trusts in our people.

We are bound to succeed in this period. Our goals are clear; “Free Leadership, Autonomous Kurdistan, Democratic Turkey.” There won’t be any peaceful resolution without the freedom of Leader Apo. We must come up with the most creative tactics and fulfill our duties in order to ensure our leader’s freedom. We believe that w will achieve great results if our guerrillas carry out actions with determination. On this basis, we wish success to our guerrillas and believe that they will yield great results when they act with the spirit of our heroic comrade Egîd.

UN, April 6. /TASS/. Western member states of the UN Security Council voted to block Russia’s proposal on the all-inclusive nature of the upcoming round of intra-Syrian talks, Russia’s UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said.

According to the Russian diplomat, a delegation from Ukraine, which is not a permanent UN Security Council member, also added its destructive share into the decision to block the Russian proposal.

Churkin said Moscow repeatedly expressed its concerns that Syrian Kurds were still not invited to take part in the Geneva talks on the ongoing conflict settlement, adding that "such stance contradicts UN Security Council’s resolutions in the inclusiveness of the political process in Syria."

"It seemed that our concerns were shared by all main partners," Churkin said. "We have submitted with the UN Security Council’s members a draft for media calling to provide a maximum representation of the inter-Syrian dialogue at the upcoming talks."

"We were surprised when the draft was blocked by some Western countries," he said. "The Ukrainian delegation also chipped in destructively."

What is more offensive, writing a poem that suggests that Turkey Dictator Erdogan is a murderous misogynistic beast or him killing, beating and imprisoning and denying access to medicine for Kurdish, children women and men (the most successful anti ISIS force) and similarly targeting their supporters?

What about Merkel phoning him to apologise and urging him to prosecute the poet while playing dumb on the crimes he is committing in Kurdistan, let alone his support for ISIS and their smuggling of oil and antiquities out of Syria?

Who is going to audit the 6bn given to the Turkish dictatorship in order to stem the flow of refugees?

What about the concentration camps being built to contain refugees in Turkey?

That money could have been given to Greece to end their debt slavery and finance job creation schemes to house refugees.

edit typos

edit add : Why do various western countries including the US block the participation of the Syrian Kurds, the YPG and YPJ, liberators of Kobane, the most effective anti IS force in Syria (along with the Syrian army and allies) in spite of being regularly bombarded by Turkey, while accepting the participation of known chemical warfare users (uses chemicals to kill Kurds)?? Because of sponsor of ISIS, Dictator Erdogans' Turkeys' say so?

Turkey continues to send arms, ammunition and jihadists to ISIS–PART I

Saturday, April 9, 2016 2:30 PM

HESEKÊ - DELİL SERDAR - ANF

ISIS gang Abdurrahim Xalit İbrahim captured by the YPG stated that Turkey continues to send arms, ammunition and jihadists to ISIS mainly through Jarablus and Til Rai. İbrahim noted that the Turkish aid to ISIS decreased because ISIS-Turkey relations got exposed and the border between ISIS and Turkey got shorter.

Captured by the YPG after the ISIS attack on Girê Spî, ISIS gang Abdurrahim Xalit İbrahim code-named Ebu İslam Xerip spoke to ANF. İbrahim was born in Aleppo, joined ISIS two years ago, stated that ISIS viewed Turkey as an ally. İbrahim said that his main duties were to give ideological and political education, recruit new gangs, and organize the gangs that arrived in Syria via Turkey. İbrahim was captured by the YPG in an office building near Siluk after the ISIS attack on Girê Spî.

Regarding the relations between Turkey and ISIS, İbrahim said that the two entities had shared ideologies and goals, and would never fight one another. İbrahim stated that ISIS viewed Turkey as an ally and the two entities collaborated numerous times in the past, so a war between Turkey and ISIS would never break out.

'TRANSPORTATION WAS CARRIED OUT THROUGH GIRE SPI'

İbrahim highlighted the importance of the Girê Spî border gate for ISIS and said that the majority of supplies entered Syria through here. İbrahim said that ISIS used the Girê Spî border gate and secret underground tunnels to smuggle jihadists from all around the world into Syria, and the border gate served as ISIS’ lifeline because the majority of military and food supply transportation took place through here. İbrahim emphasized the friendly nature of Turkey-ISIS relations, and said that these relations continue today despite the YPG’s liberation of Girê Spî. İbrahim added that Turkey continues to send arms, ammunition and jihadists to ISIS mainly through Jarablus and Til Rai today, and the Turkish aid to ISIS decreased because the border between ISIS and Turkey got shorter.

'TRANSPORTATION FROM TURKEY WAS OFFICIAL'

İbrahim stated that transportation from Turkey via Girê Spî, Jarablus and Til Ria was carried out officially, and nighttime was chosen in order to avoid coalition warplanes and press coverage. İbrahim said that couriers led the transportation of jihadists as part of the agreement ISIS had made with Turkey, and ISIS militants welcomed the incoming gangs 1 km away from the Turkish border and took them to Raqqa. İbrahim underlined that the Turkish state turned a blind eye to this route and never caused a problem, and the Turkish intelligence approved all of the border crossings.

‘JARABLUS AND THE REGION TO ITS SOUTHWEST ARE OPEN FOR US’

Captured ISIS gang İbrahim stated that ISIS sent petroleum, wheat and other materials to Turkey in exchange for arms, ammunition and supplies, and Jarablus became the only border with Turkey after the YPG’s liberation of Girê Spî. İbrahim said that Jarablus and the region to its southwest were open for ISIS, and the gangs have been using this area for logistical purposes. İbrahim noted that the YPG’s liberation of Girê Spî reduced the flow of goods and militants between ISIS and Turkey, but this flow continues today through Jarablus and Til Rai.

‘SENIOR ISIS MEMBERS IN CIVILIAN CLOTHES CARRIED OUT THE TRADE’

The captured gang stated that certain ISIS members were chosen to carry out the trade with Turkey, and hundreds of vehicles crossed the border everyday as part of this trade. İbrahim noted that ISIS gangs responsible for the trade with Turkey were senior administrators and wore civilian clothes, and ISIS sent petroleum, wheat and other materials to Turkey in exchange for arms, ammunition, supplies and the treatment of injured gangs in Turkish hospitals. İbrahim added that the trade between ISIS and Turkey became more secretive after the bombardment of petroleum tankers near the border and the exposure of Turkey-ISIS relations.
