The publication of the Green manifesto was greeted predictably by the media. "They oppose the war on Iraq and they have equally wacky ideas on tax and the environment."

There will also be socialist candidates standing in Leicester West, Lewisham Deptford, Walthamstow, Wythenshawe and Sale East, Bootle, Newcastle East and Wallsend, Brighton Kemptown, Bristol North West, Swansea West, Cardiff South and Penarth, Coventry South, Coventry North East, Stoke-on-Trent Central, Sheffield Heeley and Wakefield.

If the Tories get back in they might privatise everything in sight, imprison people without trial, support the use of torture, denounce asylum seekers for "swamping" our British social services and pursue a warlike foreign policy....oh sorry that should have read New Labour!

When the prospective local candidates knock at my door I shall tell them that I would like them to focus on three issues.

1. Change the diastrous policy whereby children in state schools in England no longer have to study a foreign language beyond the age of 14, making a mockery of our country as a member of the European Union and as an international trading nation.

2. Renationalise our railway system, bringing to an end the ridiculous hotch-potch of a system that we inherited from the Tories - the worst railway system in Europe in my opinion and the worst value for money.

3. Do something to stop the hoard of 15-20 yobs congregating on the corner of our local shopping precinct every evening, intimidating passers-by, thieving from the shops and wrecking local property, e.g. tearing panels out of fences and snapping off car aerials. The police say they can do nothing unless they actually catch someone committing a criminal act - but this has only happened on one occasion as far as I recall, when a young man was spotted by a neighbour damaging another neighbour's fence. (This is in middle-class Berkshire, by the way, and our constituency MP is Theresa May.)

The Socialist Party stood in 16 out of the six hundred and forty six seats contested. So who did they advise folk to vote for in the 630 constituencies that didn't have that luxury? And who will you be asking them to vote for at the next election?

I have met people who thought the Socialist Party were impractical in seeking a new workers' party based on the trade unions.

They took the more practical step of voting Liberal Democrat to keep the Tories out."

Well it's a free country.

Ask not what the working classes can do for the Labour fakers

Ask the Labour fakers to get off their asses and represent the working classes.

Have a nice day.
