Ruth Paine in fact, visited the island just prior to picking Marina Oswald up from New Orleans. Donald managed to somehow make it onto Nixon's enemies list.

Straus, Isidor and Nathan Brothers of Oscar. Co-owned Macy's Department and Abraham and Straus Department Store in NYC. The latter employed Albertina White, wife of George Hunter White. Albertina frequented a nearby department store which at the time, employed Marguerite Oswald

Straus, Nathan III, Grandson of of Nathan. Involved with 'American Friends of a Free Haiti' with Leo Cherne in early 1970s. Cherne headed the CIA front, 'International Rescue Committee' which assisted Oswald's return from the SU.

Straus, Oscar Brother-in-law to Fred Lavanburg. First Jewish cabinet member in U.S history

Straus, Roger Son of Oscar Straus and nephew of Fred Lavanburg. Was President of the Lavanburg Foundation which built and funded Youth House

Straus, Roger, Jr Son of Roger Straus. Partners in publishing company which published Howard Hunt’s books. Also recommended Hunt for “government work”

The Lavanburg Foundation Built and funded the Lavanburg Home for Working Girls and continued the funding for decades until it was taken over by the city. In the 1940s, a separate accommodation was built for girls, and this building became Youth House for boys. The foundation also built and managed accommodation for poor immigrants including apartments in Goerick St in the heart of Brooklyn's slums. It was here that the Rosenberg's lived when Julius began civilian employment with the Army Signal Corp. In fact, it had been the building manager, employed by the Lavanburg Foundation, which had given Julius a glowing reference for his security clearance.

Some of the population growth of Chicago and Midwestern Plains states in the middle to late 19th century was due to John Murray Forbes' railroad projects in Michigan and Chicago. In 1879, William Forbes, son of John Murray Forbes, risked the fortune to financially back Alexander Graham Bell's telephone company, and become president of the company, a risk which paid off. Cameron Forbes used his wealth to become Governor General of the Philippines. His niece Ruth Forbes Paine Young tapped her Forbes family inheritance to finance the International Peace Academy. Her husband invented the Bell Helicopter used in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In a small way, Ruth Forbes Paine Young's son, Michael R. Paine, and his wife Ruth Paine, tapped their family wealth as a benefactor to Lee Harvey Oswald, whose wife Maria Oswald lived in their house as a family friend, and whose rifle was stored in the Paine's family garage. Many Forbes family members purchased estates in France and Massachusetts, and generally remain influential there, in local or national politics. John Forbes Kerry is a U.S. Senator and currently a candidate for President of the U.S. Though he is a beneficiary of several Forbes family trusts (c. 2002), Kerry has not worked in the private sector for Forbes family business interests and has devoted his life to a career in public service.

3. Mary Bancroft was the mistress of Allen Dulles from WWII and during the JFK era. Mary Bancrofts childhood friend was Ruth Paine.

4. Dulles and the Cabots worked together on intelligence matters and when said issues were part of their own personal agenda.

Although Dulles was married, he had multiple affairs throughout his life.
One of his lengthier dalliances was with Mary Bancroft. He met her in
Switzerland and brought her into the OSS. (Mosley, pgs 170-71) Mary Bancroft
admitted that she was friends from an early age with Ruth Forbes Paine.
(George Michael Evica, A Certain Arrogance, p. 234) In fact, Mary Bancroft
and Ruth Forbes remained friends for a very long time. So when she divorced
her first husband, Ruth and her new husband Arthur Young were still friendly
with Bancroft. (ibid) Ruth Forbes was the mother of Michael Paine, and
mother-in-law to Ruth Paine. This was the Quaker couple who befriended the
Oswalds in 1963 and separated Marina from Lee after their return to Dallas
from New Orleans. After Oswald's arrest, that separation enabled Ruth to
have much control over Oswald's possessions, which were left in the Paine
garage. Some of this turned into dubious, yet incriminating evidence against
him e.g. the infamous backyard photographs.

In light of the Bancroft-Paine relationship, I have always found the
following quote by and about Dulles to be interesting and provocative:
"Dulles joked in private that the [JFK] conspiracy buffs would have had a
field day if they had known ... he had actually been in Dallas three weeks
before the murder ... that one of Mary Bancroft's childhood friends had
turned out to be a landlady for Marina Oswald ...

You can always tell when people are selling snake oil about the JFK assassination-- they claim with absolute certainty to possess the "full solution" to a murder they haven't begun to investigate.

Your "Lee Harvey Oswald's Cold War" has fascinated me since I read a review of it, a positive review, at CTKA last year.

As an aside, when I was taking ROTC in the 1960s, some of the classes -- the escape and evasion class, for example -- focused heavily on the Korean War, even though the Vietnam war was then heating up or raging. The Korean War played a major role in my indoctrination as a prospective U.S. Army officer. In the early to mid-1960s, the Korean War was alive and well in the thinking of many U.S. Army officers. In fact, the Korean War was studied to the exclusion of the Vietnam War in some of my ROTC classes. "The Manchurian Candidate" was right up my alley 1963-1970. (Yes, I know the movie was suppressed in the U.S.)

The Oswald presented to history by those who write history was a classic cold-war figure. Idealistic in an uninformed way. Uninformed because he misunderstood U.S. capitalism. Inflamed by the promise of Leninism, or Marxism, take your choice. Neurotic. Narcissistic. I can go on. The fact is, he was a real human, a real person, who had thoughts, feelings, passions, weaknesses -- like we all do.

If you can bring him to life here, please do.

"The Manchurian Candidate" was right up my alley 1963-1970. (Yes, I know the movie was suppressed in the U.S.)

Not true.

The film was given a wide release and was shown on TV in 1965, 1966 and twice in the 1970's.

The production company made a crappy deal with United Artists, and further showings of the film would only send profits into UA's coffers, and none to the prod co that controlled it. So the producers sat on it until they could reach a more profitable deal for themselves.

Nothing mysterious whatsoever.
