I have just updated on my blog a bibliography of books to read on the JFK assassination, aka the 1963 Coup d'Etat. It is far more inclusive than the list which started this thread.

http://lyndonjohnsonmurderedjfk.blogspot.com/2012/01/bibliography-of-books-to-read-on-jfk.html

I am up to 793 books in my bibliograpy which covers such JFK assassination related subjects as Lyndon Johnson, H.L. Hunt, Clint Murchison, Sr., the CIA, the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, George Herbert Walker Bush, Watergate, Allen Dulles, Nelson Rockefeller, James Angleton, E. Howard Hunt, the Businessman's Plot of 1933, CIA manipulation of the media, the Council on Foreign Relations, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Vietnam, JFK's foreign policy, mafia involvement in the JFK assassination, as well as 2 books critical to understanding the psychology of the cover up: 1) "Obedience to Authority" by Stanley Milgram 2) "The Emperor's New Clothes" by Hans Christian Anderson.

Here is my updated bibliography of the JFK assassination as of January 27, 2012.

Here is a "study course" on the JFK assassination. If you plough right through these books, articles and videos you will learn a LOT about the 1963 Coup d'Etat.

If you want to get quickly “up to speed” on the JFK assassination, here is what to read:

1) LBJ: Mastermind of JFK’s Assassination by Phillip Nelson

2) JFK and the Unspeakable:Why He Died and Why it Matters by James Douglass

3) Brothers: the Hidden History of the Kennedy Years by David Talbot

4) The Dark Side of Camelot by Seymour Hersh

5) Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty by Russ Baker.

6) Power Beyond Reason: The Mental Collapse of Lyndon Johnson by Jablow Hershman

7) Google the essay “LBJ-CIA Assassination of JFK” by Robert Morrow.

8) Google “National Security State and the Assassination of JFK by Andrew Gavin Marshall.”

9) Google “Chip Tatum Pegasus.” Intimidation of Ross Perot 1992

10) Google “Vincent Salandria False Mystery Speech.” Read everything Vincent Salandria ever wrote.

11) Google "Unanswered Questions as Obama Annoints HW Bush" by Russ Baker

12) Google "The Holy Grail of the JFK story" by Jefferson Morley

13) Google "The CIA and the Media" by Carl Bernstein

14) Google "CIA Instruction to Media Assets 4/1/67"

15) Google "Limit CIA Role to Intelligence" Harry Truman on 12/22/63

16) Google "Dwight Eisenhower Farewell Address" on 1/17/61

17) Google "Jerry Policoff NY Times." Read everything Jerry Policoff ever wrote about the CIA media cover up of the JFK assassination.

18) Google "CBS News and the Lone Assassin Story" by Roger Feinman"

19) Google "Reasoning about Assassinations" by James Fetzer

20) Google “Murray Rothbard the JFK Flap”

21) Google “Preserving the Legacy by Mat Wilson”

22) Google “Bertrand Russell 16 Questions on the Assassination”

23) Google "The Day Democracy Died in America by Tom Cahill"

24) Google "See the LBJ Robot by Mack White"

25) Google "Spooks make life miserable for Ambassador Lodge" by Richard Starnes 10/2/63

26) Google "The Intra-Administration War in Vietnam" by Arthur Krock 10/3/63

27) Watch on You Tube the extremely important videos The Men Who Killed Kennedy, episodes 7, 8, and 9 which focus on the role of Lyndon Johnson.

28) Watch on You Tube Jesse Ventura’s show on the JFK assassination.

29) Watch the movie JFK- the director’s cut by Oliver Stone.

30) Watch on You Tube “Evidence of Revision.” – 8 hours of fantastic and rare footage

31) Google “Lee Harvey Oswald’s reading habits summer 1963” by Judyth Vary Baker

Another key point: Lee Harvey Oswald was U.S. intelligence and he shot NO ONE on 11/2263. Re: Oswald's intelligence connections read:

1) "Oswald and the CIA" by John Newman

Robert Morrow believes that Madeleine Brown's account of her tryst with Lyndon Johnson at the Driskill Hotel is the number one evidence of conspiracy in President Kennedy's murder,

This book should be right up his alley.

Madeleine Duncan Brown is one of the most important truth tellers in the JFK assassination. Because of her, we pretty much know 2 things: 1) Lyndon Johnson had foreknowledge of the JFK assassination and 2) LBJ told her on 12/31/63 that his Texas oil men supporters and the CIA murdered John Kennedy. I think LBJ was completely accurate except that he left himself out of the plot. Madeleine's book is Texas in the Morning: http://www.amazon.com/Texas-Morning-Madeleine-President-Johnson/dp/0941401065/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329455027&sr=1-1

While Madeleine Brown can not be relied on for everything, I think that her essential story is golden and one of the great discoveries in JFK assassination research.

Mimi Alford's book is Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath http://www.amazon.com/Once-Upon-Secret-President-Aftermath/dp/1400069106/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329455113&sr=1-1

Mimi Alford is one of the few witnesses who you can believe almost everything she says. Her account of being a teenage mistress to John Kennedy is an important addition to the historical record. Some JFK fans can come to terms with the well documented fact that John Kennedy was an insatiable lothario as were both Lyndon Johnson (described as a sexual gorilla) and Bill Clinton.

Mimi Alford's book is well written, not overly sensational and is written in a well though out analytical style. It is obvious she has done some soul searching over the years.

I highly recommend both books!

Here is the list of my 10 favorite books on the Kennedy assassination:

1. Dale Myers, With malice : Lee Harvey Oswald and the murder of Officer J.D. Tippit, Oak Cliff Press, 1998

2. Gerald Posner, Case closed, Anchor Books, Doubleday, 1993

3. Jim Moore, Conspiracy of one, The Summit group, 1992

4. Vincent Bugliosi, Reclaiming history, Norton, 2007

5. Larry Sturdivan, JFK myths : a scientific investgation of the Kennedy assassination, Paragon House, 2005

6. Larry Sneed, No more silence, University of North Texas Press, 1998

7. Mel Ayton, The JFK assassination – dispelling the myths, Woodfield Publishing, 2002

8. Hugh Aynesworth, JFK : breaking the news, International Focus press, 2003

9. David W. Belin, Final disclosure, Charles Scribner's Sons, 1988

10. Cathy Trost & Susan Bennett, President Kennedy has been shot, Newseum, 2003

Actually, to me Dale Myers's book is the best, but I'm not sure about which order I should sort the nine others out.

I do think that by reading those 10 books one can reach the proper conclusion, get rid of farfetched theories, and safely and seriously claim to know exactly what happened in Dealey Plaza.

Anyway, I have a question for James DiEugenio. You have included the book "Reasonable Doubt" by Henry Hurt, in your list. Then, let me ask, what do you think of the chapter titled "The Confession of Robert Easterling" ? Do you believe his story ? Just a question.

/F.C./

It is interesting that not one of your books was written by a historian. Is there any reason for this?

It is also interesting that you have given us a Top Ten list of CIA mockingbirds.

Here is my latest update of my Bibliography of JFK Assassination Books. I have roughly grouped them by 1) the best books to read - top thirty 2) by author 3) by subject matter. If you have any suggestion for other books or know some I overlooked, please tell me.

One can learn about by reading books that are peripheral to the JFK assassination such as books on Lyndon Johnson, the CIA, military intelligence, foreign policy of the 1960's, Texas oil men, books on the personal lives of key players, and books about elites in government, intelligence, foreign policy and the media.

My top JFK books (in no particular order) which I would recommend to any new student of the case:

  • Crossfire - Jim Marrs
  • Inquest - Epstein
  • Rush To Judgement - Mark Lane
  • Reasonable Doubt - Henry Hurt (I haven't finished yet, but it's already in the top 5)
  • Best Evidence - David Lifton. The most sensational book on the list but it has to be listed because the claims, extraordinary as they are, are so well corroborated by first hand accounts.

For the most part I have chosen these because they deal directly with the known evidence very well without making unsubstantiated claims.

Honourable mentions:

  • Assassination Science - Fetzer et al
  • Plausible Denial - Mark Lane
  • Conspiracy (sometimes titled "Not in your lifetime") - Anthony Summers
  • The Killing Of A President - Robert Groden (for its photographic content rather than the analysis)
  • The Echo From Dealey Plaza - Abraham Bolden. This is a GREAT book.

The Assassination Archives and Research Center, AARC, has an incredible treasure trove of JFK related materials, including online the Warren Report and all 26 volumes of hearings and exhibits: http://www.aarclibrary.org/publib.htm The Lopez Report from the ARRB is there, the Medical testimony of the ARRB.

You could read for a long time here.

(I encourage folks to post their top 10 or top list of JFK assassination books. This could be a very useful thread for folks.)

<snip>

Here are some books relating to the JFK assassination that I think are extremely helpful. I ranked them in order of useful knowledge as for who and why they murdered John Kennedy.

<snip>.

356 The Kennedy Mutiny: What Really Happened in Dallas on November 22, 1963

by Will Fritz (not Dallas detective)

<snip>

Well, Robert, I realize this thread is almost five years old, but this is the only thread I found on the Education Forum that ever mentioned this book by Will Fritz entitled: The Kennedy Mutiny (2002).

I first heard about this book only this week from Gayle Nix.

With your thread, Robert, I can guarantee that people knew about it back in 2010.

Amazon.com gives the year as 2002 and says it is out of print.

DPD Homicide Chief Will Fritz, of course, died in 1984, so we know he didn't publish this book.

What do we know about the sources of this writer? Anybody?

Thanks,

I discovered something about Roger Craig a few days ago, that is worth mentioning his account of Oswald, or another Oswald was actually mentioned in the November 23, 1963 Fort Worth Star Telegram, and not months later.....

Which tends to give him even more reliability as to his bona fides. He wasn't vindicated until years later in his account when Jesse Curry's book included the photo of him present in Dallas Police Headquarters.

Well, Robert, I always believed in Dallas Deputy Sheriff Roger Craig. I don't see that he had any reason to lie about seeing Lee Harvey Oswald getting into a Green Rambler in front of the TSBD building shortly after the JFK murder.

The FBI, however, did have reason to lie -- by the evening of 11/22/1963, Hoover had decided on a "Lone Nut -- with no accomplices who are still at large."

If anybody ever offered evidence that they saw Oswald as a passenger in any car (either in Dallas, or in front of Sylvia Odio's apartment, or in Mexico City) the FBI would stomp on it like a bug.

This was the key to Roger Craig's key story -- he saw Oswald get into a Green Rambler -- driven by a dark-skinned man -- possibly a Cuban or Puerto Rican. Then, later at the DPD where Fritz was interviewing Lee Harvey Oswald, Roger said he confronted Oswald and told him he saw him get into a Green Rambler with somebody else. Oswald then exclaimed (as I recall), "That station wagon belongs to Ruth Paine! You leave her out of this!"

Then Fritz told Roger Craig to go away. That's it. That's the whole story. I believe Roger Craig, as he had no reason to lie about any of this.

This came up in the Warren Report -- and Fritz said he didn't remember Roger Craig even in the building.

With this photograph you cited, Robert, we have that confirmation that Will Fritz was either lying, or had a poor memory.

Also -- that photo is confirmation that Roger Craig had no reason to lie.

IN ANY CASE -- this book signed "Will Fritz" that was published in 2002, is 701 pages long. The essence of this book was startling to me because it says that Ex-General Edwin Walker was the organizer of the JFK murder in Dallas. Now -- that's what I've been saying since 2011 on this Forum. Yet nobody has raised the question of this book, The Kennedy Mutiny, since I arrived.

There are three key differences between this account by "Will Fritz" and my own CT. Here is what "Will Fritz" claims:

(1) Edwin Walker and Lee Harvey Oswald were very good friends.

(2) Edwin Walker staged his own April shooting

(3) Edwin Walker organized the Dealey Plaza attack in order to "miss" JFK, and simply startle the US Government.

I see all three of those points as ridiculous -- however, just about everything else in, The Kennedy Mutiny (2002) that I've seen so far, rings true as a bell to me.

Regards,

--Paul Trejo
