Robert Groden's "Absolute Proof" has been printed

Recommended Posts

Mr. Groden's long awaited book will be available for sale any day now. It has been printed. I consider both of his pictorial books on the assassination very well done, with high quality images and production values, compared to most publications on the assassination. I've been looking forward to this one for a long while.

I encourage everyone to support his work. He has been a tireless champion in his lonely quest to represent something other than the "official position" there in Dallas, and self publication of a book like this is expensive and difficult. There have been a number of rumors about the hinted at title content of the book, and I for one, will be buying a copy or two.

Just a heads up.

I received this book [“Absolute Proof” by Robert Groden] as a Christmas gift and I feel inclined to take a few minutes and write about it. There is no Amazon page for this book and I want to pass along this information. I hardly ever write anything negative, but this book is $75 plus $10 shipping, depending on how you got it, and people need to know what they are getting into if they are dumb enough to order this thing.

I do not buy many books related to the JFK case as many are completely worthless from a historical perspective. This one is no different, save for some pictures; but if you are a student of the assassination, you have seen them at one time or another. This book is filled with many crackpot theories and opinions. It is poorly researched and cited. But that is not the worst of it.

It contains a good bit of disinformation too; some examples:

The McCone – Rowley memo

Gregory Douglas’ Regicide excerpts

The Murchison Party

This book does not mention legitimate assassination suspects, CIA officers – David Sanchez Morales and David Atlee Phillips. However, “Absolute Proof” does include such disinformation legends as James Files and Mac Wallace, both firing at the president from various locations.

Considering the amount of material that has emerged in the last 20 years, this book is not only embarrassing, but should be placed in the “lunatic fringe” area [to borrow a phrase from Mr. Groden] of assassination lore. There is also the use of a dummy being passed off as a real autopsy photo – discussion found here: http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=20816

People who are seriously interested in learning about the assassination of President Kennedy should read The Last Investigation by Gaeton Fonzi and Someone Would Have Talked by forum member Larry Hancock.

Happy Holidays,

Zach

Thanks, Zach. You've confirmed my fears.

You mentioned Files. In 2009, Robert spotted me in the crowd at Dealey Plaza and ran over to introduce himself. He'd watched my video series and had been impressed. (We'd actually talked a bit in 2004 and 2005, but there was no reason for him to have remembered those meetings.) In any event, we then made our way back to his table, where we continued our conversation, on and off, for 30-40 minutes. Most of this time he was talking to people looking through the stuff he had for sale. In any event, although I knew we didn't see eye to eye on certain aspects of the assassination, I remember being impressed with his willingness to tell potential buyers that their pet theories were just wrong, and why. I remember, for fact, that he shot down people pushing that the Z-film was fake, and people pushing that Jimmy Files was the shooter.

Does he discuss Files in the book, in order to shoot down that Files was the shooter? Or does he actually suggest Files was telling the truth?

Page 207- In his The Mob section, Groden has a photo of Files among several other mob figures and states that Mr Files confessed and is still alive as of this writing, giving the (indirect) impression he believes this has some merit. The book has an everything-but-the-kitchen sink feel to it and, although I was impressed at first (and still am with regard to most of the images), the red herrings Zach outlines kind of has me turned off to the book. Perhaps this one is like his other two photo books- only look at the PHOTOS...well, other than the "JFK" movie dummy passed off as an actual autopsy photo. The caption leaves zero chance this is a READER impression/ mistake...Groden clearly makes the case that he did a lot of work on restoring the image from what was thought to be an indecipherable exposed black and white film reel taken at Bethesda.
