Bernice,

I originally did that comparison with Florer and Kolby. In subsequent conversations with Kolby, he told me that it was not him and I believe him.

I also originally posted that recent image of Kolby and Davis. This was taken on a trip they did into the Florida Keys a few years ago.

Cheers,

James

From Post #1 this thread, so ya gotta go there to see the photos James posted for me on 1/18/07. Too bad the other photos that used to be on this thread have since disappeared. Very interesting thread, IMHO. I suggest that everyone read it or re-read it...

-------------------------------------------------

Thomas Graves has asked me to post the following comparison.

After some excellent work, Thomas was able to secure this circa 1958 image of Larry Florer from the Highland Park yearbook.

As I was one who proposed that the Florer arrested in Dealey Plaza may not have been the real Florer, I have to say that this comparison goes a long way to suggest that it is the same man. Five years does make a difference but I believe they are one in the same.

Again, thanks to Thomas for his good work here.

Cheers,

James

A Question For John Simkin,

John, would it be possible for you to re-post the two photos, or have they disappeared into a digital blackhole from which they can never be extracted/reconstituted? There are probably a lot of people who are relatively new members of the forum and/or visitors to the forum who have not seen the photo comparison which was so kindly posted for me by James back on 01/18/07.

Thank you,

--Thomas

Bumped for Bill Kelley, who recently asked about Larry Florer on another thread.

The photo James posted for me back in 2007 has disappeared from this thread, but luckily it's still viewable on the Net, courtesy of the JFK Assassination Forum website.

Here it is -- Larry Florer's 1958 Highland Park High School (Dallas, Texas) photo on the right. https://www.google.com/search?q=%22larry+florer%22+hair&tbm=isch&imgil=LWE-piLxPXgNTM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcT1DzDTy_vGDe58DN4vkZ_pt9zydWnzWFAHGDSo9LzdKMc4BiVSEA%253B462%253B331%253BKmehunKEHivmcM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.jfkassassinationforum.com%25252Findex.php%25253Ftopic%2525253D5428.12&source=iu&usg=__Hc6WSPKiI-sBTe8BZClqWuGIOHc%3D&sa=X&ei=p-TvUtSBMIPcoATZnIDoAw&ved=0CCoQ9QEwAA&biw=1188&bih=566#facrc=_&imgrc=LWE-piLxPXgNTM%253A%3BKmehunKEHivmcM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fi780.photobucket.com%252Falbums%252Fyy85%252Fjohnw291%252FFlorer_comparison.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.jfkassassinationforum.com%252Findex.php%253Ftopic%253D5428.12%3B462%3B331

Above is a link to the youtube video of Larry Florer being arrested on 11/22/63. After he is frisked (six seconds into the video), Larry appears to call his Police Escort’s attention to a young man to their right. Apparently there is a short exchange. Protruding from the bystander’s right shirt pocket is a rectangular object with some weight to it.

I’m wondering if anyone recognizes or has an idea about who Larry’s possible associate is.

Security guard? From the County Records building? Is that a badge that says SECURITY above the pocket? Or is that a notebook that has SECURITY printed on it jammed in the pocket?

VOLUNTARY STATEMENT. Not Under Arrest Form No. 86

SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

COUNTY OF DALLAS, TEXAS

Before me, the undersigned authority, on this the 22nd day of November A.D. 1963 personally appeared Larry Florer Address 3609 Potomac, Dallas, Texas Age 23 , Phone No. LA 1-7150

Deposes and says:

This afternoon about 10 minutes after the parade passed Poydras and Main Streets, I went to a little Bar-B-Que place on Pacific. I do not know the name of this place and I went in and had a grilled cheese sandwich with a friend of mine, Richard Bartholomew, who works at the National Bank of Commerce. They had a radio going on in the cafe, two gentlemen that were seated at the table next to us had the radio on. And something came on the radio about the President being shot at, so I walked out with this other boy and he went on to the bank and I walked down to the railroad tracks at Pacific and Houston Street. I was walking parallel to some of the tracks and there were quite a few other people walking in the same direction I was going. I stopped on east side of Houston street across the street from the Texas School Book Depository. I stood there for a few minutes and then a lady that was standing next tome [sic], I asked her where there was a telephone, and she said that the only pay phone that she knew of was in the County Records building. She said that there were a lot of phones on the third floor of this building that I was standing in front of. She said that she worked on the third floor and there was probably a phone up there that I could use. So I rode up the elevator with this lady and got off onthe [sic] third floor with this lady and we walked to the information desk and this lady went on back to her department, to her spot. So then I, there was a lady at the information desk and I asked her if I could borrow her telephone and she said that all the lines were busy, or something to that effect. So I stood there for a minute and a fellow walked up to me. He asked me what I want ed [sic] and he told me that I couldn't use the phone. So I walked back down to the elevator and rode it back down to the lobby. As soon as I got to the lobby I walked back outside and the fellow that I had talked to about using the phone was pointing out the window, pointing toward me and said that I was the man that was on the third floor. At this time two officer [sic] walked up to me and said for me to come with them. These offices brought me to the County Sheriff's Office. At no time did I see anyone leaving the building, the Texas School Book Depository, while I was across the street from it.

Tom:

The video is interesting. I can't help but compare Florer's apprehension with other such "arrests" that occurred that day. His seems much more businesslike and professional. The detectives or officers (whomever they were) seem to have descended upon the scene quickly, and spirit him away. He is frisked and there is little dialogue or delay. A plainclothes person is seen at the end taking him into custody (no DPD identifiers or Stetson hat). Contrast that with Shelley and Arce being taken downtown, or the tramps, and it just appears different.

If not a legitimate detention - or if Florer was simply an innocent bystander - perhaps "they" (the bad guys) thought that he had seen something which he shouldn't have, and wanted him isolated and neutralized.

Hi Gene,

I can't find the quote just now, but a Forum Member on one of the Larry Florer threads claimed that Larry was still alive and living in Dallas. He'd be in his mid-seventies now, and I wonder if anyone has ever talked with him?

My reason for posting the video was a total shot in the dark: The bystander we see Florer interacting with looks like I imagine Igor Vaganov to have looked, just shy of his 24th birthday (and yes I know Igor was supposed to have been just crawling out of the sack at the time this video was shot).

The bystander in question appears about six seconds into the video, he is to Larry's right, Larry points out the young man to the Officer, and there appears to be a brief exchange.

Does anyone know of any extant photographs of Vaganov other than the one of him leaning against the street sign in 1967. Tink Thompson once claimed to have a photo of Igor driving a Beauty Queen in a parade in Philadelphia. Does anyone know if that ever surfaced?
