  1. ‘The Shankly psychology’ Kevin Keegan: I’m playing in my first season for Liverpool FC against West Ham at Anfied. Shank’s comes over to me and says:- A Son I’ve just seen that Bobby Moore getting off the West Ham bus. What a wreck, He’s limping and He’s got bags under his eyes. He must have been in one of those London clubs all night Son! So instead of playing England’s Captain & World Cup winner, I’m playing an aging playboy with a limp. Anyway we win 3-1 and I manage to score although Bobby play’s to his usual high standard. After the match Shank’s comes and sits next to me in the dressing room and says A Son that Bobby Moore is some player isn’t He. Son you’ll never play against a better footballer than him!
  2. Tom, Looking at Mr. Altgens position in Zapruder frames 348 to 360 isn’t it a fair observation that the First Lady was blocking his view of JFK’s head when he heard the his third shot. Chris Brown.
  3. Thanks Tom Long-winded? Yep Well there’s a lot for me to digest! Answer your questions??????? Yes I think so. I’ve just had a quick read through during my ‘Tea break’ I will have more time to study it this weekend. Chris Brown.
  4. Hi Tom, In your survey data is 4 (4 + 65.3 & 4 + 95) some physical Datum reference. For example a fire hydrant or a storm drain grid? Is there an origin datum and if so would this origin be physically located in or close to the TSBD? Are the +65.3 & +95 distances in feet, measured from Datum 4. For example the known distance from the origin to datum 4 + 65.3/95 feet? In your shot scenario is shrapnel from the 2nd (&/or) 3rd shots the cause of John Connelly’s wounds? Chris Brown.
  5. Tom, Interesting attachments. I found this info regarding Mr Zapruders camera: Film Velocity/Frame Rate: The question of frame rate of the Zapruder camera was an important technical consideration of the FBI in their investigation of the timing of the three shots. The FBI reported that their studies showed the camera to be operating at 18.3 fps, or 2.3 fps fast according to the (then) published standard and the reference in the owner's manual. Evolution of Standards to Higher Frame Rates: It has been acknowledged that Bell & Howell's and Eastman Kodak's engineering practice for cameras moved toward 18 fps in the late 50s, and that this velocity was not uncommon in USA practice. The committee action to change standards takes time. The published standard for camera velocity in use in 1963 issued in 1954. Standards reflect practice and the evolutionary change to the higher frame rate of 18 frames per second was subsequently recognized in American National Standards that issued in October of 1964 , for Camera and Projector Usage - PH22. 21 and PH22.22. Bell & Howell testing confirmed that the Zapruder camera operated at slightly faster than 18fps - meeting the requirements of the revised standard. Taken From: DISSECTING THE ZAPRUDER BELL & HOWELL 8mm MOVIE CAMERA Outline of a Presentation to the Movie Machine Society Toronto Conference, 10/24/98 by Roland J. Zavada I have promised myself a visit to Dealy plaza sometime in the near future. If I wanted to repeat Mr Zapruders historic film with a modern Camcorder. I’m sure it would be feasible (the running speed of the Camcorder would have to be known) the topography of the plaza hasn’t changed. My problem would be in enticing two of the younger members of my family to join me to help with the experiment. (i) I would have to pick up the whole tab as they have shown little interest in the JFK assassination no matter how much I’ve coaxed them. (ii) I would have to hire an open top car (no problem there) and have one of them drive at about 12 MPH (I see a big problem here) whilst the other lifted an arm at predetermined points. (iii) They would have to drive at this speed in the lane closest to the grassed central reservation (The left hand lane) which in England is the overtaking lane. This may cause consternation to other motorists or even a ticket from a traffic cop. Could be worth the effort. Chris Brown.
  6. The elspsed frames of the Z-film come into play based on the erroneously reported minimum time to operate the rifle. The WC reported a 2.2 to 2.4 second mininimum time to operate and fire the weapon. At 18.3 elapsed frames per second, this would equate to approximately 41 to 44 minimum elapsed frames of film between shots. The error in this is that the 2.2 to 2.4 seconds is that time required to operate and fire the Carcano, utilizing the scope, and no one actually took into consideration the operating time if one actually utilized the fixed sights. Many persons have fired the Carcano in 1.8 to 1.9 seconds elapsed time, utilizing only the fixed sights. Thusly cutting the "elapsed frame" time down to 33 to 35 elapsed frames of the film. Since the actual third/last/final shot struck JFK when he was directly in front of James Altgens position, at approximately the Z341 position, by sticking with the 41 to 44 elapsed frames of the film, no one would normally be looking in this location for a shot impact. (Z-313 + 41 = Z-354 minimum if one believed the WC). Now, in recognitioon that Z=341 is only 28 frames from Z-313, which also comes to 1.5 seconds of elapsed time, then one of two conditions exists. 1. There was in fact a second shooter as this is far too short of a period of time for operation of the Carcano. 2. A few frames of the film have been "excised", which not only serves to indicate a faster speed for the Presidential Limo, but also serves to totally "hide" that a shot occurred at the Altgens location. One can take their choice, as there was most assuredly a third/last/final shot which struck JFK in the head as the Presidential Limo was directly in front of James Altgens. Personally, in consideration that so many witnesses have stated that the Presidential Limo almost came to a stop, I will stick with the latter. Tom, I may have not have put my original question as I should have (I have no expertise in film or photography) Wasn’t the vehicle (average) velocity and the (various) shot timings based on the frame speed of the of the cine camera used to film the assassination by Zapruder. I’m not questioning your take on the assassination or the fact (or not) that frames have been deleted from the original Zapruder film. Chris Brown.

  8. Right on, Bill! And let us not forget the cheap Italian rifle manufactured for the Italian army in 1940 and left over from World War II. According to a CIA dispatch on December 31, 1963, the rifle was among 100,000 Mannlicher-Carcanos that Adam Consolidated Industries imported into the United States in 1960, two years after “Italian military authorities” decided to “eliminate” them and declare them “obsolete.” Adam Consolidated purchased them “at an average price of $2.20 for serviceable 6.5 rifles” and “$1.10 for unserviceable 6.5 rifles.” “The first lot of 7,000 rifles that Adam put on the American market had disastrous results. Many of them burst, with frequently fatal results, and many didn’t fire. This forced Adam to withdraw all the rifles from sale and check them before putting them back on the market.” A March 17, 1964, FBI report states that the Mannlicher-Carcano rifle that was allegedly used to kill President Kennedy, with serial number C 2766, was among “a lot of 5,200” Mannlicher-Carcanos shipped to Adam Consolidated by an Italian machine shop in 1960. It also states that Adam Consolidated said that the rifles in this particular batch were “defective” and refused to pay for them. According to the FBI report, the machine shop was engaged in “legal proceedings” to force Adam Consolidated to pay for the rifles. William J. Waldman, who was vice president of Klein’s Sporting Goods, the mail order company that sold the Mannlicher-Carcano allegedly used in the assassination, testified to the Warren Commission that the rifle cost $19.95 with a scope, plus $1.50 postage and handling, and that without a scope, it would have cost only $12.95. He further testified that a gunsmith who worked for Klein’s attached a scope to the rifle after drilling holes into it. He was then asked if the gunsmith or “anyone else” had done “boresighting” (which involves using a sight-aligning tool and aligning the crosshairs) “or actual firing with the sight” to check and see how accurately the sight was aligned with the rifle. Waldman replied, “No; it’s very unlikely in an inexpensive rifle of this sort that he would do anything other than roughly align the scope with the rifle.” In a letter to the Warren Commission, the FBI reported, “No indication was found that the telescopic sight was remounted. Its position on the rifle, the mounting screws, and the screw holes show no evidence of having been altered.” Ronald Simmons, Chief of the Infantry Weapons Evaluation Branch of the Ballistics Research Laboratory of the Department of the Army, who was in charge of test firing the Mannlicher-Carcano, was asked by the Warren Commission if the personnel who ran the test “had any difficulties with sighting the weapon.” His reply was that “they could not sight the weapon” and had to “adjust the telescopic sight” by having “a machinist in one of our machine shops” add three shims to the telescopic sight. FBI Special Agent Robert Frazier, with the FBI Laboratory in Washington, D.C., testified to the Warren Commission that adjusting a telescopic sight entails “putting shims under the front of the scope and over the back of the scope to tip the scope in the mount itself, to bring it into alignment.” He also testified that there were no shims in the rifle when the FBI Laboratory first received it, but there were shims “mounted in the rifle” when the Army Ballistics Lab returned it to them. After it was determined where the rifle was purchased and how much it cost, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover spoke to President Johnson by phone on November 23, 1963, and said, “It seems almost impossible to think that for $21.00 you could kill the President of the United States.” Colonel Allison Folsom, who examined Oswald’s Marine Corps records for the Warren Commission, testified that Oswald’s record showed that his marksmanship was “not good” and that his average score over a two-day period was 36 when “people should get a score of between 48 and 50.” The record also showed that Oswald scored at the bottom in classification and aptitude tests when he entered the Marine Corps in 1956, that he was court-martialed twice, and that he had been demoted from private first class to private. In addition to his testimony, Colonel Folsom sent a letter to the Warren Commission on June 8, 1964, regarding Oswald’s marksmanship. It states that a Marine would qualify as an Expert with a minimum score of 220, would qualify as a Sharpshooter with a minimum score of 210, and would qualify at the lowest ranking of Marksman with a minimum score of 190. Folsom stated that according to Oswald’s Marine Corps record, on December 21, 1956, two months after Oswald joined the Marines and received his initial Marine Corps training, he received a score of 212, two points above the minimum for sharpshooter, while firing at a stationary target with a Marine-issued M-1 rifle on a Marine Corps rifle range. On May 6, 1959, four months before his defection to the Soviet Union, his score was 191, one point above the bare minimum to qualify as a Marksman. Folsom also stated, “A low Marksman qualification indicates a rather poor shot and a Sharpshooter qualification indicates a fairly good shot.” Colonel Folsom’s information shows clearly that after Oswald’s first two months of intensive Marine Corps training, he managed to qualify at the low end of being a “fairly good shot.” But two and a half years later, with a score that was one point above the bare minimum to qualify as a Marksman, Oswald was nowhere near a “fairly good shot.” He was most definitely a “rather poor shot,” even though he was still firing at a stationary target with a Marine-issued M-1 rifle on a Marine Corps rifle range. Oswald’s ability to pull off even one precision shot would have not only been hampered by his total lack of competence and his poor marksmanship, but it would have been rendered completely impossible by shooting at a moving target with a cheap rifle that had a scope that was in no way aligned with the rifle. On November 22, 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated, allegedly by a neurotic malcontent who happened to have been working as a stock clerk for five weeks in a building along the President’s motorcade route, a man who allegedly, when he heard where the motorcade route was, decided to bring a decrepit rifle to work three days later and assassinate the President of the United States with no problem whatsoever, because this neurotic malcontent, while not very good at anything else, had supposedly become a phenomenal marksman and could fire two of three shots accurately in five to eight seconds using a cheap bolt-action rifle that could not possibly have been used for that purpose. Unfortunately, the neurotic malcontent was killed two days later. Vince Palamara is not stupid. Therefore, he has to be a plant. Tony. I’ve always believed that LHO’s alleged shooting performance was impossible. Your information regarding the condition of the alleged assassination rifle, which I have read about before is compelling evidence on its own. Add to that the question mark against LHO’s shooting ability and the difficulty of the official view of the assassination, would all in my view raise questions in any fair minded jury on the likelihood of one person pulling it off. As far as I’m aware, Frazier’s team of expert riflemen could not duplicate LHO’s alleged shooting performance. (2 out of 3 hits in 6 seconds WITH THEIR FIRST ATEMPT) and nobody has duplicated it since then. Chris Brown.
  9. "modernisation" is nothing more than a buzz word to trick the people! I did ask what modernisation actually meant but you chose not to even attempt an answer. I see you also struggle with definition of "reluctant!" Bernie, if I’m not sure of the meaning of a word, my first thought would be to look for its definition in a Dictionary. Maybe I spent too much time on my Technical education at the expense of my General education in my quest to become as competent a Mechanical Engineer as I could be. Maybe I along with the majority of the British electorate have a vested interest in the market economy we earn our living from. Maybe I along with the majority of the British electorate have more gumption that to be tricked by buzz words. That's right when it had a radical socialist agenda! Bernie, nothing wrong with being and/or supporting socialism. Unfortunately people with socialist beliefs are unlikely to see a Socialist Government in the UK or the USA in the foreseeable future. Chris Brown.
  10. Again we hear the ‘spin’ word “modernise”. What does that mean if not capitulation to neo con free market economics[/b] ‘Neo con’ sounds like spin to me! Incidentally Chris, yes you’re right, Labour has won 3 elections in eight years (1997 – 2005): but between the years 1964 to 1974 it won FOUR! And yep, that was WAY before they ‘modernised’. 4 terms of office between 1964 to 1979 and only one term with a workable majority. The only time ‘OLD’ Labour enjoyed a workable majority anything like ‘New’ Labour was in 1945! Even the Tory party has ‘modernised’ in my lifetime. Political parties evolve just like the societies they spawn from (IMO) This is where we differ Chris. At last we agree on something! Why is this ‘modernised’ New Labour Party so unpopular Chris? How do you square that circle? Thatcher was once popular; she became unpopular in the eyes of the BRITISH ELECTORATE and was booted out by Conservative MP’s even though she still had the backing of grass roots Tory party members. IMO Politicians propensity to sleaze is directly proportional to their length of time in office. My job Chris encompasses many disciplines including distribution, logistics, engineering maintenance and customer liaison: sounds impressive eh? OK, I’m a van driver! And yes, it’s a white van. But in my OWN time I write plays, comedy sketches, do a bit of acting and sing/play guitar in a couple of bands. I earn enough out of these activities to keep me in van driving! Copy and paste to your BIO! It never ceases to amaze me how many people who spout full visibly from our public servants seem reluctant to share detailed bio’s on this site. Chris Brown.
  11. Chris in 1997 after 18 years of hard-line, hard right wing Thatcherism, even Kermit the Frog would have been a viable alternative! It really wasn’t the due to the ‘statesmanship’ of the New Labour leaders’ lurch to the centre/right: they won the 1997 election despite their capitulation to neo-con economic policies; despite kow-towing to the banks and other powerful financial institutions and despite their renunciation of all they had hitherto believed in (and how untrustworthy is that?) IMO if the Labour party had not ‘modernised’ the BRITISH ELECTORATE wouldn’t have voted for them. 3 General Election wins. Never in the history of British politics had the Labour party enjoyed 3 consecutive mandates from the BRITISH ELECTORATE. I often wonder how much longer the Soviet Union would have lasted had they employed the political trick of creating a ‘controlled’ opposition, similar to the ones used to such devastating effect in the West. Give the Russians two communist parties and therefore the ‘appearance’ that they have a choice, some control over their destiny, a say in how their country is run, when all the while it’s the same people running both parties and manipulating the people into a state of torpor. It would have been so easy! It IS so easy! IMO if they would have continued with the expansionist policies of Arms and Space related activity’s Not much longer. However if they would have walked away from the direct competition with the worlds only REAL superpower, maybe a few years longer. Bernie the bottom line is, whether you like it or not: Planned economies don’t use their resources as efficiently as Market economies. By the way, what do you do to ‘earn a crust’ looked up your Bio, not much there. Chris Brown
  12. A viable alternative to the Tory party Bernie, I actually wrote “A viable alternative to the Tory party IN THE EYES OF THE BRITISH ELECTORATE” Even when unemployment was at an all time record, the miners were fighting for their lives and millions lived in fear of the dole Bernie, I was made redundant twice in the early 80’s. I left family and friends in my home town of Liverpool to seek employment as a Toolmaker, first in the Midlands and then on the south coast in the town of Chichester. Ensconced on the affluent south coast (For our American friend's there was little unemploymemt at the time on the south coast of England. Particularly so in Light manufacturing, unlike the older Heavy Industry of Northern England) I watched the evening News with great sadness in 1984 when the Mining communities of the North and South Wales were devastated by Thatcher’s Tory Government. However I wasn’t surprised when she was re-elected in 1987, nor when Major was elected in 1992 (by then I’d moved back to my beloved home town) Bernie, maybe the British intelligence services are putting something in the British electorate’s tea! Apologies to our American friends for being so off base in terms of what this forum is all about. However Bernie’s differing views to mine regarding this little snapshot of British history maybe of some interest. Regards Chris Brown.
  13. “Tony Blair was a Conservative until he met his wife at university. He then joined the Labour Party, CND, etc. However, once he gained power he emerged once again as a Conservative. According to one MI5 agent, Blair had been recruited to infiltrate the Labour movement. His relationship with his so-called left-wing wife was his "legend". He was a "sleeper" who eventually got to the top of the organization he was spying on.” John, I just can’t buy this. I was and still am of the opinion that the late John Smith, Neil Kinnock and Tony Blair all did their bit in moving the Labour party to the centre of British politics. Changing its focus to the needs of a modern market economy and making it a viable alternative to the Tory party in the eyes of the British electorate. Chris Brown.
  14. Peter Lemkin wrote: “Wow...one wouldn't think Jury deliberation would be stressful unless it was involving some mighty heated debates......” My experience of Jury duty in the UK was fairly stressful. I was fifty yrs old at the time and (thankfully) wasn’t picked on a nasty sex case. Ended up on a minor social security fraud case which was stressful enough. However my biggest shock was the fact that at the time of my jury duty there were two murder cases going on. On both murder jury’s there were a fair percentage (about 20-30 %) of you young jurors (20 to 25 yrs old) IMO much too young to have to deal with such cases. I was also surprised to find out how many of my friends, acquaintances and colleagues of a similar age to me had never been on Jury duty. Chris Brown.
