Music for Teachers

My name is Keith Havercroft, I am the author of the website 'Music for Teachers' at www.m4t.org

I have worked since 1976 in music education as a teacher, education adviser and inspector.

The website has been developed to give some support for planning the music curriculum (England) to ensure progression from early years to the end of Key Stage 3.

A wide range of materials are available, to be freely downloaded and then adapted to suit specific needs.

I am Leon Cych - I am now a freelance consultant in ICT and learning with rich media and video in online education. I have a history of writing online resources for subjects as diverse as KS1 Maths to KS3 Physics.

I work within the commercial sector and state education. My last big project was streaming out the Virtual Carmen broadcast that brought together video conferencing over 5 school sites. It was a world's first and funded by NESTA.

I also advise commercial firms on the appropriate use of rich media in education.

In 2002 I co-wrote the Friends of Ed book Flash MX Express. I was a technical proofer for lots of the Friends of Ed Flash MX books.

I have recently established a company called Learn for Life to research and implement practical innovative online learning solutions.

We specialise in rich media and we are currently investigating the use of mobile technology to augment home/ school learning.

I am Richard Capon.

I have taught Science (originally Biology, but later Physical Sciences as well), Social Sciences, Ancient History, Maths and Astronomy for over 30 years; originally in Bedfordshire, Herts and Northants until settling in Essex. I am about to move over the border to Suffolk where I will be ICT co-ordinator at a Middle School. I have taught children from 5 to 19 years, and adults into their 90s.

For the last few years I have combined some Maths teaching with lots of Adult Education and NOF Training in ICT; but also technical support for schools using Target Tracker.

I am also a KS3 Team leader in Science and an Examiner in A level Social Studies.

I tend to get bored easily, so change jobs every 5-8 years, but I reckon that the best sort of ICT co-ordinator can teach or at least appreciate, the whole school curriculum so as to be effective in supporting our colleagues' work.

8886 GCSE Science Coursework

I've been working on this site over the past few years. It grows very slowly; when and if I have the motivation to add something new. I never seem to get round to writing all the interesting bits I've scribbled on bits of scrap paper as all the boring stuff gets in the way. Recently I've updated the site to take account of the last Examiners Report (grade boundaries and stuff) and started a very tedious and dull reference section on Resistance. Ideally I'd like to write it well enough so that any kid who's teacher is daft enough to set the Resistance of a Wire coursework could use the info to get top marks. Still working out the best way to explain electron drift to a Grade G student. I'm hoping that the Government will abandon Science Coursework soon so that I have a good excuse not to finish it.

I'm a freelance programmer/web designer amongst other things, so if you've got stacks of money to fritter away on an interesting project let me know.

Hi, my name is Heather Wheeler and I am Head of History at Filsham Valley School in St Leonards East Sussex. I am currently in my third year of teaching but my love of history goes back years. I spent the first two years of my teaching career managing a learning support unit but in Seotenber 2003 side-stepped to mainstream history teaching as well as leading citizenship. I have recently been appointed Head of History.

I own and produce History on the Net and co-own and produce Additional Needs Net though most of my spare time is directed to updating and maintaining History on the Net.

I am a member of the ATW.

Hi Everyone and happy new year! I'm David Harris from the International School of Toulouse, where I am the Head of the Maths department. I've also taught in London, Cairo and Buenos Aires. I've worked at IST since our doors opened in 1999. Before that I was (briefly) studying for an M Ed in Bristol as a full time student which I have only just finished. A lot of my M Ed studies were related to probability theory, have a look at my site Probabilistic Learning Activities Network if you are interested.

Hello.

I'm Julie Lawton and I've been teaching Modern Foreign Languages (French and German) for more than 23 years. I have just started in my new post as Headteacher at Wolverhampton Girls' High School, which is itself a Language College. I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to know the staff and the students, who all seem most enthusiastic about the school.

Hello

My Name is Anne-Marie Luckhurst. I am currently a PGCE student, teaching in an English Further Education College. I am British and looking forward to teaching The Holocaust to many adult students in the near future. I would be very grateful for any advise people can give me. My dissertation 'Was the Holocaust Rational' was written from a German perspective and I would like to see the Holcocaust taught, as seen from many different perspectives.

Many thanks

Anne-Marie Luckhurst BA Honours ;)
