Russian historian, Edvard Radzinski believes Stalin was injected with poison by one of his guards, under the orders of KGB boss Laurenty Beria, and the reason?

But Beria, Khrushchev Malenkov and other membres of the Politbureau feared the outcome of a war against America and her alies, Russia wasn't just a poor, but a bankrupt country, its economy totally destroyed by WW2, a Country which had no resources, except nuclear weapons which it had in spades.

Stalins mania for global conflict was also the reason for his anti semetic pogrom, Beria knew Stalin had planned on 5th March to begin the forced deportation of of Jewish People from Moscow hopeing this would provoke a response from the West and Israel, thus hightening tension even further.

As always in Russian conspiracy piles on conspiracy. Some claimed to have saw buses parked all around the Capital to take away the Jews, others reported special barns erected for the deportees in Kazakhstan.

When Stalins death was formally announced Citizens were split in their reation. Some wept openly for "Father" apparently genuine in their emotion, but many more were secretly hopeful that change might at last come.

Radzinski states that one of the guards, present that night, Lozqachev, confirmed to him that his chief, Khrustalev, not Stalin, had given the orders for the bodyguards to stand down for the night. An unpresidented occurance.

Len, cant say if its true or not, but it sounds likely, yes statues and a lifelong pension for their relatives.

Apparantly his own guards were so terrified of the old monster that none of them would enter his bedchamber without his specific consent, thus giving the poison time to work. Hoisted by his own petard. If true. lets hope so.

Stalin died of a brain annurism - very similar to the way David Ferrie died.

There were reports that the CIA had developed a pill that would induce such an effect, and that Stalin's doctor(s) were in on the plot to kill him.

Stalin's daughter Sevetlana defected to USA and was placed at the New York home of Priscilla Johnson (McMillan), who translated her "Letters to Friends" and memoirs.

Well Bill, Thats certainly what went on the death certificate.

When word went out that Tiberius, Emperor of all Rome, had died, his nephew Caligula(little boots) made haste to to visit the corpse and proclaim himself Emperor. Sometimes the urge to rid yourself of the monster becomes overwhelming.
