Parrot Jungle Incident

One of McLaney's pal's, Jorge Antonio Martiez Soto, talked too much one day.

Larry Hancock discusses the Parrot Jungle Incident

http://www.maryferrell.org/wiki/index.php/...ry_HancockJORGE ANTONIO

Without any comment, here's FBI Agent James O'Conner's reports on the incident, which reads like a script from Sgt. Joe Friday's reports (from Dragnet), beginning with the first one on New Year's eve, when O'Conner apparently had to get the report out.

And doesn't this sound suspiciously like the Odio incident?

But unlike the Odio incident, here the subject is positively identified, and for those who doubt the veracity of witnesses, these little ladies did have him down pretty good.

While they recognize this as being important and make this tremendous effort to identify this guy, and then when they finally ID him, they let him off the hook. Here's the possibly dangerous terrorist who could "shoot between the eyes," a quote heard by two gift shop clerks and later denied - they let him slide. This, despite the fact he failed a lie detector test regarding making a threat to kill the President. They don't know what to do with him, so they just let him slide.

But who WAS this "unknown individual"? A pal of the McLaney's, the same family who own the Lacome property that was raided by the FBI, and in fact the guy once lived there himself.

Larry Hancock ran down this alley a while back and has developed new information on it.

[Many thanks to Rex Bradford and Mary Ferrell.]

Unidentified male, on or about 11/1/63, made remarks to employee at Parrot Jungle, a tourist attraction at Miami, Fla., which remarks, in retrospect, led the employee to believe the unknown xxxx was acquainted with LEE HARVEY OSWALD. This unidentified male also made reference to President KENNEDY and “shooting between the eyes”; he remarked that he had a friend, who was an American and Marxist, who served in the Armed Forces, was a sharpshooter, and could speak several languages, including Russian. The unidentified male in due instance refered to his friend by the name “LEE” and remarked that his friend was either in Texas or Mexico at that time. The same unidentified male returned to the Parrot Jungle about 12/16/63, but is not known to have conversed with any employee there, and no identifying data concerning him was obtained. The unidentified male is described as about 25-35 years of age, possibly Cuban, speaking English with an accent; he displayed ability to write person’s name with both hands simultaneously. He drove older model car, believed Chevrolet, with Florida license, white or light colored top, and light green or blue bottom. Associate in Cuban exile organize JURE, Miami, has no knowledge of JURE representatives’ soliciting funds in Dallas, Texas, as of September-October, 1963, as reported by Cuban refugee at Dallas, who believed said

On December 13, 1963 Mrs. BETTY STONE, employed in the office of Dr. BOSTHOLM, a dentist with an office located at 7450 Red Road, South Miami, Florida, telephonically contacted the Miami Office and advised that Dr. BOSTHOLM’s wife has a personal friend who is employed in a store where an unknown Cuban had made comments to the effect he was going to shoot President KENNEDY.

On December 1?, 1963, Dr. KENNEDY BOSTHOLM advised that his wife’s friend is Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER, who is employed in the gift shop at the Parrot Jungle, located in the Southwest section of Miami. Mrs. SPINGLER had related to the wife of Dr. BOSTHOLM that a Cuban who visited the Parrot Jungle had made some remarks which appeared to connect him with LEE HARVEY OSWALD.

1.

On December 17, 1963, Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLR 6350 S. W. 102nd Street, Miami, Florida, was telephonically contacted, at which time she stated that she did not wish to be contacted at the Parrot Jungle, where she was employed, or at her home in the evening, for reason that she felt that her employer and also her husband did not want her to become involved in the investigation relating to LEE HARVEY OSWALD. She stated that she would have a day off on December 19, 1963 at which time she might be contacted.

Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER, 6350 S.W. 102nd Street, Miami, stated that she is employed as a clerk in the gift shop at the Parrott Jungle, a tourist attraction located in the Southwest section of Miami.

Mrs. SPINGLER stated it was approximately the first week of November and very probably on November 1, 1963, on a Friday afternoon about 2:30 p.m., that a male whom she assumed was probably a Cuban approached her at her counter in the gift shop at the Parrot Jungle, and asked her for a piece of paper. She said he wrote some note for himself, which he kept, and she remarked to him that he wrote with his left hand. He then told her that he wrote equally well with either hand, and with both hands a the same time. He asked for her name, and he proceeded to write the name "LILIAN,” spelling it with two L’s instead of the usual 3, with both hands, and in good penmanship. He then claimed to her that he could write different things at the same time with both hands and said that it took great concentration. He further remarked to her that he obtained much more knowledge from reading the newspapers than the average person because he reads every line and in between the lines.

Mrs. SPINGLER said that at that point, she felt that this individual was seeking attention, and although the store was empty at the time, she did not wish to give him any more time because he was a bit loud in his speech, and the manager of the gift shop does not want the clerks to engage in too much conversation with the visitors. She said that he continued to talk, however, although she did not pay too close attention, until he remarked that he did not like the way the Government of the President and Washington D.C., possibly a statement to the effect he intended to go to Washington, D.C., he stated something to the effect of “shooting between the eyes.” She then realized that he must have been referring to shooting President KENNEDY, and she paid closer attention to him. He continued that he had a friend who was smarter then himself who could speak more languages than himself, including Russian. He said this friend was a Marxist and an American citizen, who - 3 – had served in the armed forces. At this point, he mentioned that LEE (using the given name for the first and only time, in place of his previous references to his friend), is a sharpshooter, and that he has a very good eye. He further remarked that his friend was brilliant, but that he did not know where his friend was at that time, although he believed he was either in Texas or Mexico.

Mrs. SPINGLER stated that she is certain that the unknown male whom she believed to be Cuban had used the name LEE in speaking of his friend, because at the time, her thought reflected upon General Robert E. Lee, and she thought that the unknown Cuban might be a person with a mental problem, and that he was, in fact, referring to General LEE.

Mrs. SPINGLER said that in all she probably spoke less than five minutes with this unknown individual, and she did not know if he came alone to the Parrot Jungle, although he was unaccompanied in the gift shop.

She said that on that occasion, Mrs. J.R. TRIGG, another clerk at the gift shop, observed the unknown Cuban..

She said that the gift shop manager, Mr. Bill VANDER WYDEN, may also have observed the unknown Cuban at that time, because he came into the gift shop, and the Cuban left very shortly thereafter. She said she mentioned the remarks of the Cuban to Mr. VANDER WYDEN, and the latter stated the Cuban probably had too much to drink.

Mrs. SPRINGLER related that on November 22, 1963, the date of the assassination of President KENNEDY, she was visiting in Key West, Florida, when she received news of the assassination. She said that on the return trip to Miami on November 22, 1963, the statements of the unknown Cuban came to her mind, and on arriving home, she mentioned to her husband she thought she knew who had killed the President. She recalled to her husband the fact that she had previously told him about “the nut” who said he was – 4 – going to shoot the President between the eyes. Mrs. SPRINGLER said that the unknown Cuban, when at the gift shop on or about November 1, 1963, had made some gesture to his forehead when he was talking about the shooting, although at that point in the conversation, Mrs. SPRINGLER had withdrawn her attention from the Cuban and, therefore, was not certain of the exact context of his statement with regard to shooting, and whether he said, “between the eyes.”

Mrs. SPINGLER continued that subsequently, the news was announced that OSWALD had been arrested as the assassin of the President, and at that time, she did not immediately associate the given name “LEE” with OSWALD, but rather thought it was HARVEY OSWALD. She said that while she was concerned about the incident involving the unknown Cuban at the gift shop, the fact that OSWALD had been arrested as the assassin gave her cause to dismiss the need to report the incident to authorities.

Mrs. SPINGLER said that on Tuesday, December 10, 1963, about 4:00 or 4:30 p.m., while she was in the back room of the Parrot Jungle Gift Shop working on receipts, Mrs. TRIGG, who had also observed the unknown Cuban when he was at the shop on or about November 1, 1963, called to Mrs. SPINGLER to say she believed the unknown Cuban was outside the gift shop at that time. Mrs. SPINGLER said she went to the door leading from the back room to the gift shop proper, at which time the unknown Cuban was inside the shop, and she recognized him as being the same individual who had spoken about the shooting the President as of November 1, 1963. She said she did not believe that he observed her at this time, December 10, 1963. Then, according to Mrs. SPRINGLER, about 5:00 p.m. on December 10, 1963, one of the clerks at the gift shop then remarked to Mrs. SPINGLER, “There’s your man,” whereupon Mrs. SPRINGLER observed the unknown Cuban walking rapidly from the exit of the Parrot Jungle towards the parking area with both hands in his pockets. She said he seemed to have a disturbed look on his face, in that his brown seemed wrinkled, and his face somewhat older looing than when she – 5 – originally observed him on or about November 1, 1963.

She said she proceeded out to the parking lot and observed the unknown Cuban walk toward a tourist bus which people were boarding, but he then went around the bus to another section of the parking area, where he went to a parked car and appeared to be looking back toward the office area of the Parrot Jungle over the rear of his car. He then sat in the car, and Mrs. SPINGLER returned to the gift shop, as Mr. BILL VANDER WYDEN, the gift shop manager, had come out to take down the American flag for the day. He asked her why she was out of the store, whereupon she asked him what make car was the one parked three cars down from where they were then standing, in which she had seen the unknown Cuban sit. She said Mr. VANDER WYDEN said it was a Chevrolet. She said he did not mention what model Chevrolet, but she was certain it was an older model, as the fenders were rounded rather than square. She observed that the car had a white or light-colored top, and a light green or light blue bottom. She said that neither she nor Mr. VANDER WYDEN made an observation of the license plate on the car.

Mrs. SPINGLER said she thinks that possibly the unknown Cuban may have come back to the Parrot Jungle to see if Mrs. SPRINGLER would recognize him, but she does not believe that he saw her.

Mrs. SPINGLER reviewed several thousand photographs of Cuban refugees who have arrived in the United States since December, 1962, but was unable to select any photograph as being that of the unknown Cuban involved in the incident described above.

Mrs. SPINGLER described the unknown individual as follows:

Age: When observed about 11/1/63, she thought he was in his early 20’s. When she observed him on December 10, 1963, she said he appeared older; that is, in his late 20’s or early 30’s.

– 6 –

Height: Around 5’ 8”

Weight: Medium

Complexion: Dark

Hair: Dark, believed full, and straight

Eyes: May be hazel or light in color, and possibly has long eyelashes; his eyes seem to hold one’s attention, and might be described as “wild.”

Speaking Ability: Could express himself well in English, but had definite accent, which Mrs. SPINGLER regarded as Latin.

Dresss: Not particularly well dressed. Believed to have worn a green sweater and baggy trousers on first occasion, 11/1/63, and believed to have worn jacket and baggy trousers on second occasion 12/10/63.

Mrs. SPINGLER added that she was not certain that the unknown individual was a Cuban, but she believed by his manner, speech, and appearance, that he probably was. She said that she did not observe him drive off in the two-tone colored car, described as an older model Chevrolet, into which she had observed him enter.

Mrs. SPINGLER said she did not know if the unknown individual might have been waiting for anyone while in the gift shop, although this was a possibility, since one of the shows was then talking place at the Parrot Jungle, and it was not a normal time for any visitors to be in the gift shop. She said, however, that neither she nor any of the other employees to whom she has talked concerning this matter observed anyone in the company of subject on either occasion that he appeared at the Parrot Jungle.

She said that she that she was on vacation during the period November 16 – December 3, 1963, but Mrs. TRIGG, who also observed the unknown individual on the occasion of November 1, 1963, or approximately that date, had not mentioned seeing the unknown individual thereafter until December 10, 1963.

Mrs. SPINGLER was requested, in the event the unknown individual should again return to the Parrot Jungle, to make an effort to obtain the license number or further identification data concerning the individual, without taking any step which might endanger herself.

Mrs. SPINGLER stated the unknown individual had written her name with both hands simultaneously. She said she did not keep the paper on which he had written.

1.

Mrs. J. R. TRIGG, 13130 Old Culter Road, Miami, a clerk in the gift shop at the Parrot Jungle, Southwest section of Miami, stated that she observed an unknown individual whom she believes to be a Cuban who had displayed ability to write with both hands to Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER, another employee of the gift shop. She said she did not listen too much of the conversation that went on between this individual and Mrs. SPINGLER on the occasion of the individual’s visit to the Parrot Jungle on or about November 1, 1963. She said she heard no mention of the President, but did hear the individual make some remark concerning “good shooting.”

She said she had the general impression that he must have brought some tourist to the Parrot Jungle, because he appeared to be waiting, and she believed a show was taking place in the Parrot Jungle at the time he was in the gift shop.

Mrs. TRIGG said that this same individual returned to the gift shop on December 10 or 11, 1963, at which time she observed him, but did not speak with him. She said she brought his presence at the Parrot Jungle to the attention of Mrs. SPINGLER, because Mrs. SPINGLER had previously expressed considerable concern over remarks which the unknown individual had made.

Mrs. TRIGG stated she had no information which might lead to the identification of this unknown person.

She furnished the following description for the unknown individual:

Age: 28-30

Height: 5’ 9”

Weight: Medium

Dress: Ordinary

Characteristics: Appeared to be Latin

Speech: Spoke English with what she regarded as Cuban accent

Other Characteristics: Dark complexion, dark hair, not believed to have had either a mustache or glasses.

Mrs. TRIGG also advised that the unknown male had written her given name “ALIESE” with both hands simultaneously. She did not recall whether he spelled it correctly and said she disposed of the paper at the time.

1.

Mrs. MARY TYSON, ticket office, Parrot Jungle, Miami, stated to her knowledge, she has never observed the unknown individual concerning whom Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER and Mrs. J. R. TRIGG have mentioned to her as a person who made threats concerning the President of the United States.

Mrs. TYSON stated she maintains a register of all individuals who enter the Parrot Jungle on a pass. She said passes are granted to residents of the area after they pay entrance fee for their first visit, and, thereafter, bring other visitors to the Parrot Jungle.

She made available the register which such pass holders sign, and a review of this register for the period of October 20 through December 15, 1963, reflected the name of only one male individual with a Spanish name. This was noted to be ANTONIO GIL, JR., who entered the Parrot Jungle on a pass on November 10, 1963.

1.

Mrs. LOUISE ROSHER, 6133 S. W. 45th Street, Miami, an employee of the gift shop at the Parrot Jungle, Southwest section, Miami, stated she recalled the occasion in approximately the beginning of November, 1963, when an unknown individual, whom she believed to be Cuban or Latin, was the only customer in the gift shop at the time and engaged Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER in conversation. Mrs. ROSHER recalled this individual may have been waiting for someone at the time, and he displayed his ability to Mrs. SPINGLER to write her name with either hand. Mrs. ROSHER said she walked away from the section of the gift shop where this individual was standing because he was rather loud in his talk, and she did not want the manager of the gift shop, Mr. WILLIAM VANDER WYDEN, to find her involved with this individual. Further, she stated it was obvious to her this individual wanted an audience, and acted in a very cocky manner.

She said he spoke with accented English, and had remarked that he could speak several languages. She said that she did not hear his entire conversation with Mrs. SPINGLER, but after the individual left the gift shop, Mrs. SPINGLER told her he spoke in a dangerous manner concerning his dislike for this country, and the fact that he could shoot a gun well.

Mrs. ROSHER stated that she had seen the individual on only the one occasion, that is, about the beginning of November, 1963. She described him as about 25 – 35 years of age, with dark hair and complexion, not very tall, very probably of Latin origin.

1.

Mr. WILLIAM VANDER WYDEN, Manager of the Gift Shop at the Parrot Jungle, 11000 S.W. 57th Avenue, Miami, Florida, stated he recalled that on or about December 10, 1963, at approximately 5 o’clock in the afternoon, he had begun to lower the American flag in front of the Parrot Jungle entrance, when Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER, a clerk in the Parrot Jungle Gift Shop, approached him. He stated Mrs. SPINGLER asked him what kind of a car was parked a few cars down from the area of the flag pole, where he was standing.

He said he told Mrs. SPINGLER the car in question was a Chevrolet. He said he recalled it to be about a 1955 to 1957 model Chevrolet with a light faded blue top and a dark, possibly blue, bottom. He stated he did not observe any one in the car at the time, and in fact, he did not have a full view of the car because of the other cars parked there. He recalled that the car in which Mrs. SPINGLER was interested carried a Dade County, Florida license plate, that is one with a #1 prefix.

Mr. VANDER WYDEN stated he subsequently ascertained Mrs. SPINGLER was concerned over the fact that the driver of the car in question, or at least the man she saw enter that car, might have had something to do with the assassination of President KENNEDY.

Mr. VANDER WYDEN continued that through inquiry made by him at the time, he learned that a Spanish speaking man and women had been visitors to the Parrot Jungle on that day and may have been brought to the Parrot Jungle by the individual about whom Mrs. SPINGLER was concerned. He said it is quite possible the unkown

13. individual was acting illegally as a tourist guide in view of the fact that local ordinances require a permit for taxiing and guiding of tourists. Mrs. VANDER WYDEN stated he checked the register maintained at the Parrot Jungle for those tourist guides or drivers who are given free admission to the Parrot Jungle because they bring tourists, and on the day in question, that is believed to be December 10, 1963, no tourist guide had signed the register.

Mr. VANDER WYDEN stated it is possible the unknown individual whom he believes escorted the Spanish couple who visited the Parrott Jungle that day may have acted in a guilty or furtive manner at the Parrot Jungle because of the realization he was subject to police arrest for failing to posses a permit. Mr. VANDER WYDEN stated he will be on the alert in the future to any return to the Parrot Jungle of the car he had observed, and he would record the license number of the car if he saw it.

On December 20, 1963 Mr. JOE CERMENO, a tourist guide for the West Indian Travel Service, 190 S.E. 3rd Avenue, Miami, Florida, was interviewed at the Parrot Jungle, Miami, Florida. He stated that from the description of the unknown individual an his car, he could not suggest the identity of the person whom Mrs. LILLIAN SPINGLER has reported as having made statements indicative of association with LEE HARVEY OSWALD.

Mr. CERMENO, who is of Spanish extraction and speaks Spanish fluently, advised that the Spanish spelling of the name “LILLIAN,” is “LILIAN,” it being noted that the unknown individual in question had written the name “LILIAN.”

On November 1st, Mrs. Lillian Spingler was working at the Parrot Jungle Gift Shop in Miami, Florida, when a Cuban man entered the store and engaged her in conversation. President Kennedy's name came up, and the Cuban man said he hated Kennedy.

He bragged he was a very good shot, and next time Kennedy came to Miami he would like to shoot him right between the eyes; he touched his finger above the bridge of his nose for emphasis.

He also mentioned that he was ambidextrous. He added, "If I don't get him, I have a friend who will."

He said his friend Lee was an American, a Marine, and a sharp-shooter. Lee was a really smart guy, too; he spoke Russian and German. Lee lived in either Texas or Mexico - Springler couldn't remember which the man said.

http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:sF5Gwm...=clnk&gl=us

Lillian Spingler told the FBI that an unidentified Spanish-looking male made some remarks on November 1, 1963, which led her to believe he had been acquainted with OSWALD. The man had told her he hated President Kennedy, and would like to shoot him between the eyes, and he had a friend named LEE who was also a sharp-shooter, spoke Russian and German, who was either in Texas or Mexico. FBI S.A. James O'Conner interviewed her:

"On March 6, 1964, Mrs. Lillian Spingler, the Parrot Jungle employee who previously furnished the information concerning the aforementioned unidentified male, contacted the Miami Office of the FBI to advise that the unidentified individual had returned to Parrot Jungle on that date, and was observed by her to drive a blue and white Chevrolet bearing 1964 Florida license 1-143874. Mrs. Spingler said that Mrs. Mary Tyson, who operates the ticket booth at the Parrot Jungle and speaks Spanish, ascertained that the unidentified male's name was Martinez.

"Records of the Dade County, Florida, Automobile Registration Office, reflect that 1964 Florida License was issued to Jorge Soto Martinez, 464 N.E. 31 Street, Miami, for a 1954 Chevrolet four-door.

"On March 16, 1964, Mrs. Anna Fisher, 464 N.E. 31st Street, Miami, stated she recalled Jorge Soto Martinez as a tenant in one of her apartments for a period of about a year, until approximately 1963. She said she did not know his current residence, but recalled that he worked at the Fontainbleu Hotel in Miami Beach. She said she did not know any of his associates, and that he resided alone, although she understood he had been married.

"On March 17, 1964, Miss Kaye Bourbeau, Personnel Office, Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami Beach, advised that Jorge Martinez was currently employed as a bell boy at the hotel, and had begun employment with the hotel on July 14, 1961. His record indicated that he had worked for the Cuban Customs Service in Cuba during the period October 1949 to March 1959. She stated that Martinez's address was 711 S.W. 5th Street, and that his Social Security number was 262-70-6632. His employment references were reflected as Michael J. McLaney, casino owner, known three years; Jim Byres, Transportation Manager, place not identified, Emilio Garcia, property owner, place not indicated, and Miguel A. Garcia, Manager of the Light Company in Cuba.

"Inquiry conducted at 711 S.W. 5th Street, resulted in learning that Jorge Martinez was not known at that address.

"On March 18, 1964, Miss Kaye Bourbeau advised that the inquiry made of Jorge Martinez resulted in obtaining his current address as 301 N.E. 62nd Street, Miami, Florida.

"On March 17, 1964, record at the office of U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, Miami, Florida, Number A11 873 416, pertaining to Jorge Antonio Martinez Soto reflected that he was born on February 15, 1928, in Havana, Cuba. He had been granted a U.S. resident visa at the U.S. Embassy, Havana, on June 28, 1960, and arrived at Miami via Pan American Airways on July 21, 1960. His sponsor for immigration into the United States, who furnished an affidavit promising employment and keep of Martinez, was indicated at Michael J. McLaney.

“On March 22, 1964, Jorge Martinez voluntarily appeared at the Miami Office of the FBI in answer to a telephone call placed to him at the Fontainbleu Hotel on March 22, 1964. Martinez said he is known as Jorge Martinez, and he felt he had sufficient comprehension of English to permit conduct of the interview in the English language.

“Martinez said he has, on occasions in the past, taken visitors in his personal car to tourist attractions in the Miami area, including the Parrot Jungle. He recalled the occasion on or about November 1, 1963, when he took tourists to the Parrot Jungle, and while there engaged in a conversation with the employees in the gift shop and displayed his ability to write with both hands simultaneously. During interview, he exhibited this ability by writing his name, Jorge Martinez , with both hands simultaneously.

“Mr. Martinez stated that he had no personal acquaintanceship with, or knowledge of, LEE HARVEY OSWALD. He said that if the Parrot Jungle employee thought he had expressed an association or acquaintanceship with OSWALD, this misunderstanding on the part of the employee must have resulted from his poor pronunciation of English, and lack of grammatical correctness. He stated that, in fact, he knew of no one with the first name LEE, and was at a loss to understand how the employee might have obtained this misunderstanding. He said, likewise, he had no friend located in either Texas or Mexico, and that the incident of his having allegedly spoken in this sense was completely erroneous.

“Martinez stated that he does regard himself as excitable, and particularly so with regard to the control of Cuba by Fidel Castro, and that he may have made some remarks related to Castro which were misinterpreted by the Parrot Jungle employee as directed toward President John Kennedy. He said he vaguely recalled having spoken about Castro and the Cuban situation. He said, by way of explaining remarks attributed to him by the Parrot Jungle employee, that he may have said that he wished he were in Washington, or that he were the President of the United States, so that he could exercise the power to blow up Fidel Castro. Martinez said he may have also expressed some displeasure as what he regards as the failure of the United States to rid Cuban of Castro, but it was not a criticism of the United States Government, which he considers to be the best in the world. Martinez denied that he would have made any such statement as 'shooting between the eyes of President Kennedy,' and explained that if he made any such references, it would most certainly have been with respect to Fidel Castro.

“Martinez stated that he is acquainted with no one whom he knows to be a U.S. citizen and Marxist, or such an individual who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He stated that he himself, speaks Spanish and broken English, and no other language, and he does not have any friend or acquaintance who can speak the Russian language. Martinez said that, likewise, he could think of no acquaintance whom he knew to be a Marksman or Sharpshooter, and he added that if he had made some remark of this nature to the Parrot Jungle employee, it was unquestionably in reference to the means by which he would like to see Fidel Castro eliminated.

“Martinez said he did not recall what may have prompted him to talk along these general lines during his visit to the Parrot Jungle, but possibly some development in the Cuban situation had recently occurred which could have upset him. He said that it was incredible that anyone should think that he would have any relationship with a pro-Castro person, because, in fact, he has only hate for Castro sympathizers. He related that he was employed in the Ministry of Finance in Cuba as of 1949, and continued in that department until the beginning of 1959, at which time he was the Customs Inspector in charge of Havana Harbor and the Colombia Air Base near Havana. He said that he was economically comfortable, in that he was earning $900 a month as of 1959, and resided rent free in a $40,000 home in Havana which belonged to his aunt, and which he would eventually inherit.

“Martinez continued that his former father-in-law, Carlos Pujol, was a government administrator during the regime of Cuban President Carlos Prio, and it was through Pujol that Martinez originally obtained employment in 1949 in the Ministry of Finance.

"He said that his own father, Antonio Martinez Perez Abreau, had been a successful and well-to-do attorney in Cuba prior to the advent of Fidel Castro to power, but he had since lost his properties through confiscation by the Castro regime. He said he did not know the whereabouts of his father, although the latter might still be in Cuba. He said that his mother, Carmen Soto Urquiza, had divorced his father years ago, and married Emilio Garcia Perez, who had lost a large amount of income property in Cuba to the Cuban Government. He said his mother and step father continue to live in Cuba. Martinez said that his wife, Concepcion Luisa Cortes Madrazo, had come to the United States with him in July 1960, but they have since separated and are contemplating divorce.

“Martinez stated that his immigration into the United States was sponsored by Michael McLaney, who had operated the casino in the Nacional Hotel in Havana before the Government of Fidel Castro closed down such operations. Martinez said that when he lost his job in the Cuban Customs Service in the first part of 1959, when the Castro Government removed the pre-Castro personnel, he, Martinez, worked for McLaney at the casino in the general capacity of handling Spanish-speaking clients.

“He said that as of July 1960 he reached the decision that he could no longer accept the restrictions of freedom being imposed by the Castro regime, and decided to move to the United States. He said that very shortly after arrival, he began employment at the Fontainebleau Hotel at Miami Beach as a 'runner' handling cars, and with the exception of about three or four weeks during 1960 when he worked at a motel on the 79th Street Causeway, Miami Beach, he has been steadily employed at the Fontainebleau.

“Martinez stated that he is a graduate of the Belen College in Cuba, and had studied law for one year at the University of Havana. He said he had not joined the forces which engaged in the Cuban invasion of April 1961, but subsequently volunteered for training in the Cuban unit of the United States Army, but was not accepted, possibly because of overage. He stated he has never applied for nor received assistance or aid under the Cuban Refugee Program.

"In conclusion, Mastinez stated that he would volunteer to take a polygraph examination at any time if the question remained as to possible acquaintance with, or knowledge of, LEE HARVEY OSWALD or any other individual who may be engaged in any plan or activity inimical to the interests of the United States."

"Martinez had once lived rent-free in a room above the garage of McLaney's LaCombe house." (51).

DETAILS:

The following investigation supplements that contained on Pages 1 – 15 in the report of Special Agent James J. O’CONNER dated December c, which remarks led the employee to believe the unknown male was acquainted with LEE HARVEY OSWALD. This unidentified male was said to have made references to President KENNEDY, and “shooting between the eyes,” and that he had a friend who was an American, a Marxist, and was a sharpshooter and could speak several languages, including Russian. The Parrot Jungle employee related that the unidentified male, in one instance, referred to his friend by the name “LEE,” and remarked that the friend was either in Texas or Mexico.

Physical description of MARTINEZ was noted as follows:

JOSE JURAZ

The Garrison Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy by William W. Turner

http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:dCWCdu...=clnk&gl=us

ON AUGUST 1, 1963 the front page of the States-Item carried two news stories which, Garrison asserts, symbolize the bitter end of the paramilitary right's tolerance of John F. Kennedy. "A-Treaty Signing Set On Monday" was the lead to one story, disclosing that the test ban treaty was about to become reality and that a NATO-Warsaw bloc nonaggression pact was in the wind.

"Explosives Cache Home Lent to Cuban, Says Owner's Wife," announced the lead to another story, telling of an FBI raid on a military training site and arms cache on the north side of Lake Pontchartrain. Agents had seized more than a ton of dynamite, 20 100-pound bomb casings, fuses, napalm ingredients and other war material.

The whipsaw developments -- Kennedy's patent determination to effect a rapprochement with the communist nations on the one hand, his crackdown under the Neutrality Act on anti-Castro paramilitary groups on the other -- triggered a rage against the President that would find vent in his assassination.

The true nature of the group raided at Lake Pontchartrain was not evident from the story. The FBI announced no arrests, and the wife of the property owner, Mrs. William J. McLaney, gave out the cover story that the premises had been loaned to a newly-arrive Cuban named Jose Juarez as a favor to friends in Cuba.

(McLaney had been well-known as a gambler associated with the Tropicana Hotel in Havana before being ousted by Castro in 1960.)

http://hum.uchicago.edu/~jagoldsm/Papers/J..._NewOrleans.pdf

Paramilitary training in Louisiana

Gerry Patrick Hemming and Frank Sturgis, operating under the aegis of the New Orleans branch of the Cuban Revolutionary Council (CRC), established a military training camp for Cuban exiles in 1962, used variously by "the DRE, the 30th of November Movement and the MIRR"22, all associated with Paulino Sierra. It was located near Lacombe, LA, outside of New Orleans and just north of Lake Pontchartrain. It was set up by Gerry Patrick Hemming and Frank Sturgis, and it was being used by the MDC [Christian Democratic Movement] at the time, under the leadership of Laureano Batista.23 One of the instructors was David Ferrie.24

Mid-July saw new recruits and arms coming in from Florida.25 This was on a property controlled by William Julius McLaney.26 There was a raid on the explosives on July 31, 1963 in which large quantities of dynamite, 100-pound aerial bomb casings, and related military materiel

26 26William Julius McLaney himself had investments in Cuban gambling before the Castro revolution; he was also the brother of Mike McLaney, who had sponsored the bombing effort scotched by Customs the month before.

27 There is evidence, described by Dick Russell (The Man Who Knew Too Much, pp. 408ff), that Richard Case Nagell was sent by Tracy Barnes during this period to infiltrate and investigate the Lake Pontchartrain training base. At this point, Nagell apparently was no longer able to contact his CIA case officer (who was, according to Robert Morrow, Tracy Barnes); Nagell then sent the information that he had uncovered to the FBI. Nagell was focusing on two Cubans whose code names were Leopoldo and Angelo (or Angel), who were by August 20 still in New Orleans. These may be the same two Cubans who used those names when visiting Sylvia Odio (see below).….were seized.27 Eleven men were detained, but they were released without being formally arrested.

Among the men were:

v Sam Benton (who was "Mike McLaney's go-between with the mob-financed Cuban exiles"28; ïnvolved in dealing with stolen securities and other securities closely associated with...gamblers in Miami."29

v Rich Lauchli, cofounder of the Minutemen, and an arms merchant from Illinois who had sold guns to the provisional government of Paulino Sierra Martinez 30

"More than a ton of dynamite, 20 bomb casings three-feet long, napalm (fire-bomb) material and other devices were seized Wednesday by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in a rest area in St. Tammany Parish, between Mandeville and Lacombe," the Times-Picayune wrote.

McLaney's wife claimed that the property was on loan to a Cuban known as Jose Juarez.31

The training camp nearby shut down its operations shortly thereafter, an operation in which Carlos Bringuier assisted.32

Soto told the FBI he had worked for McLaney at his casino in Havana and that the witness in the Parrot Jungle gift shop didn't know what she was talking about:

MARTINEZ SOTO

Parrot Jungle Incident

One of McLaney's pal's, Jorge Antonio Martiez Soto, talked too much one day. ...

“On March 22, 1964, Jorge Martinez voluntarily appeared at the Miami Office of the FBI in answer to a telephone call placed to him at the Fontainbleu Hotel on March 22, 1964. Martinez said he is known as Jorge Martinez, and he felt he had sufficient comprehension of English to permit conduct of the interview in the English language....

....“Martinez stated that his immigration into the United States was sponsored by Michael McLaney, who had operated the casino in the Nacional Hotel in Havana before the Government of Fidel Castro closed down such operations. Martinez said that when he lost his job in the Cuban Customs Service in the first part of 1959, when the Castro Government removed the pre-Castro personnel, he, Martinez, worked for McLaney at the casino in the general capacity of handling Spanish-speaking clients...."

Soto told Garrison's investigator he never worked for McLaney:

FROM: Richard E. Gerstein, State Attorney

Alfonso Sepe, Executive Assistant

RE: Assassination of President Kennedy

CLOSED INVESTIGATION

As a result of a phone call I received from my sister-in-law, Mrs. Pat Sepe, I was informed that her close friend, Mrs. Ruth Bastholm, knew a woman who had worked in the Parrot Jungle Gift shop in 1963 and 1964. The name of this woman was Lillian Springler, ....

...Martinez denied ever going to Texas or having any friends in Texas. He denied ever saying that he had a friend named LEE who lived in Texas or Mexico. The only person he knew in New Orleans was his cousin, who was a doctor.

Arrangements were made with Warren Holmes for Martinez to take a lie detector test. Several days later Martinez took the test and answered all questions posed to him by the polygraph expert. Mr. Holmes conclusions were that Martinez was telling the truth, with the exception that in a temperamental outburst to Mrs. Springler, Martinez might have said some unkind things about President Kennedy which he had originally denied to me. Specifically, he showed deception in his denial to the question posed by Mr. Holmes, "Did you tell the woman at the Parrot Jungle that you were going to Washington to shoot the President between the eyes?" He later admitted to Holmes, following his examination, that the question bothered him because he recalled making some stupid statements like that to the woman in the Parrot Jungle Gift Shop, but could not recall what words he had used. He stated that he had a habit of shooting his mouth off, but vehemently denied mentioning the name of LEE. Holmes found Martinez's explanation that he probably shot his mouth off too much to Mrs. Springler at the Parrot Jungle consistent with Martinez's demeanor. A combination of Holmes observations of Martinez, together with the administration of the polygraph test, satisfied Holmes that Martinez was telling the truth. It is therefore my recommendation that this investigation be closed.

ANALYSIS

Jorge Soto Martinez was a former official of the Batista Administration. Castro had cost him everything he had. Martinez spoke key words at Parrot Jungle: ex-Marine, spoke Russian, spoke German, Texas, Lee. He had heard about OSWALD either from Mike McLaney (who heard it from HEMMING) or because he was part of the LaCombe training camp organized by Rudolph Richard Davis that OSWALD attempted to "infiltrate" through BRINGUIER. Jorge Soto Martinez was questioned by the FBI about the dynamite found in William McLaney's LaCombe home on July 31, 1963. Alphonse Sepe went on to become a Judge. He was indicted for corruption. He dismissed the fact that Martinez failed a significant question during his lie detector test.

Lillian Springler told the truth. It was no accident that out of all the Cubans in Miami, Lillian Springler pointed her finger at a close associate of McLaney. Lillian Springler was contacted in November 1993. She said, "I am old now and don't remember. Whatever I said back then was true." Lillian Springler was a patriot.

HEMMING: THE MOTIVE

HEMMING told this data base compiler in 1994: "Who would run around trying to put the finger on LEE HARVEY OSWALD? Who would do that? Why do you think that was done? Why would someone come up with that kind of xxxx? What purpose did it serve? The guy would have to be a moron, or was he setting somebody up? He might have been in a situation where he overheard McLaney saying something, or one of the Cubans around. From what I read, Soto didn't speak English really worth a xxxx. However, I presume that he spoke clearly enough, and said what he said. I buy that. Now, does he get it into his own head to walk in there? What prompted the conversation? What led to this outburst? Did he try to hit on her? Was he trying to get some xxxxx? What was his motivation to blurt this xxxx out and blow the cover completely? More than likely, it was more involved than that. He was probably getting some xxxxx there, and she's trying to cover her ass by saying it was done in a store. It might have been xxxxxxx pillow talk. I always figured there was something behind it. Then I want to know, How would Soto pick up this kind of information? Who the xxxx is he? What kind of jerk-off is this? Is this the key man in the xxxxxxx plot? Who was letting these secrets out? Even dummies aren't going to have people walking through the Parrot Jungle. The plot is to nail OSWALD. Let's visualize the scenario. You don't want the word to get around to people who are going to call the cops, who are going to say something. Do you want OSWALD busted before the event?" I explained to HEMMING that "Not everything works the way you want it." HEMMING: "A.J., we're getting close." I responded: "He's a xxxx up, an xxxxxxx, he came back after the assassination to see her again so maybe she'll be impressed with him and say, 'Wow, this guy knew some heavy xxxx about the assassination way in advance.' GERRY, did you ever meet this guy, Jorge Soto Martinez?" HEMMING: "Yeah, yeah. I had other people talk to him, sat down and had a chat, and all that kind of xxxx. This was before the assassination. There was xxxx going on. Number one, McLaney had been helpful to us. So we consider him a friend. He sent Espinosa and couple of other people out to do a couple of things, and now we're being asked about it. McLaney wanted to kill Fidel. With a passion. If Espinosa had a loose mouth and he talked in front of this guy, and this guy actually lived there, and things were being discussed. That's a lot of 'ifs.' Is he trying to get out of participating in something by burning it? This was the first thing we looked at. Or did he tell stories to people in confidence? Was he trying to impress somebody?

"With Victor Espinosa around, no Cuban around McLaney was doing anything that McLaney didn't know about. He didn't take those kind of chances. It wasn't sanctioned by McLaney. It was done behind his back. McLaney would suspect it was done to xxxx him up."

During his deposition in HUNT v. WEBERMAN STURGIS was asked:

Q. Do you know the owners of the Nacional Hotel, Mike and William McLaney?

A. I met him yes.

Q. Do you remember a man named Jorge Soto Martinez?

A. George? Possibly. If he had anything to do with casinos, possibly, because -

Q. He worked for McLaney.

A. Possibly; because I didn't meet everybody there 'cause there's too many people involved....

And by the same token, there were more than a handful of eavesdropping situations which implicated the anti-Castro Cuban exiles in the MIAMI plot for sure. But was

the Dallas plot more of a Willoughby, Morris, Emmett Johnson thing or was it peppered with anti-Castro Cuban exiles as well.

1) Homer Echevarria in Chicago bragged about how they were going to kill JFK and Roy Hargraves later implicated him in the hit in Dallas, but it also turns out

that Hargraves himself allegedly flew to Dallas with 2 Cuban shooters. What role did he play himself? Roy also implicated Mitch Werbell, Robert F. Baird, Eugene Brading

or Braden a couple others, one from The Pioneer Fund itself founded by Wick Draper.

2) Willoughby's Foreign Intelligence Digest Latin American Editor, Emilio Nunez Portuondo, was overheard on the phone talking about the assassination

3) Rose Mercedes or Marcardes was dumped from a car near New Orleans on the way to Dallas after overhearing the car's occupants talking about killing JFK

4) Someone (a Cuban exile) in a Dallas meeting first name Nelson, last name forgotten, maybe DelGado, also talked in advance about plans for killing JFK

5) Both Marita Lorenz and my father had advanced notice of the plot based on either meetings attended or eavesdropped conversations.

Later Sturgis and E. H. Hunt implicated themselves in the plot (in Miami or in Dallas or in both?)

The players in the Miami plot were probably much different than the players in the Dallas plot. I think Morris, Schmidt, Walker and Willoughby took over

the Dallas plot after the Miami plot was busted wide open. They felt that the Cuban exiles were braggarts, with loose lips sinking their ships. Maybe some

of them had a role in Dallas, but you have to consider the realistic possibility that there were 2-4 shooting teams and not all of them even knew the identity

of the other teams in all likelihood. Two teams in Dealey and two teams at the Trade Mart final stop? That is also possible. But there is little doubt that

Robert Emmett Johnson was one of the shooters.

Yes. A failed attempt at hitting JFK meant a huge loss of any opportunity in the future. Security would have greatly increased.

The plotters would have to act on their best opportunity, which after Miami, was probably Dallas.

Just as Ruby (IMO ) needed to kill Oswald before he left the custody of the DPD. The window of opportunity probably woud've closed, if Oswald was successfully transfered to the Sheriff's Dept.

of them had a role in Dallas, but you have to consider the realistic possibility that there were 2-4 shooting teams and not all of them even knew the identity

of the other teams in all likelihood.

-Bill

Almost everyone just automatically assumes that there was only ONE plot and ONE group after JFK. And almost everyone assumes that evidence about a Miami plot and

a Miami to Dallas caravan meant that those who failed in Miami succeeded in Dallas. Well, it is just not that simple in my opinion. You really have to look at who received big

bucks right after the deed was done and only Rev. Gerald L K Smith and Wickliffe Draper got paid off. Smith built Christ of the Ozarks for $1,000,000 when he started 1964 with only $5,000 in the bank and Draper and his family got $100,000,000 from Rockwell when they bought out a failing Draper Company. The Cubans did not get their war against Castro. And only The Winnipeg Airport Incident (GLK Smith, Vonsiatsky, Draper, Gostick, Butler, Walsh) and the Joseph A. Milteer tape recordings confirm those who were involved at the highest levels in the Dallas plot. Army Intel, Draper and Vonsiatsky who was also Army Intel.

In fact, I am now firmly convinced that the Miami plot was done by rogue CIA agents using their Cuban exile contacts and the Dallas plot was done by former Army Intel types

(Willoughby, MacArthur, Gale, Walker, Lansdale, etc. (who was Army Air Corps and Air Force (NOT CIA) ) using the likes of Robert Emmett Johnson and other guns for hire.

The same mistake is made when people just blandly cite Marina Oswald's "translated testimony" as Gospel. Igor Voshinin worked for J. Howard Pew and Sun Oil like other White

Russian petroleum geologists, and he could have "translated" her testimony to include anything he wanted to in fact.

Mr. Obama's neighborhood

By HILARY LEILA KRIEGER

Chicago

....One day back in Chicago, Crown's good friend Newton Minow received a phone call from his daughter Martha, a Harvard law professor, telling him, "You ought to interview the smartest young man I've ever had in any of my classes." According to lore, when Minow called a partner in his firm to recommend he meet with Obama during a visit to Harvard, the partner told him he had already been hired for a summer internship.

Obama's experience at the Sidley Austin firm, where he soon got to know Minow, a former Federal Communications Commission chairman (as well as his future wife, Michelle Robinson), was crucial in introducing Obama to leading local Jewish figures like the billionaire (LESTER) Crown. Crown first became acquainted with the young associate after Minow suggested he meet this "special" guy who "is going places." And indeed, Crown describes him as "brilliant" and "a quick study," though he does not pretend to have pictured Obama sitting in the Oval Office during their early encounters.

These kinds of introductions proved key for Obama's construction of a network which would eventually support his political aspirations. The Crown family, for instance, have been major financial backers, with Lester's son James serving as Obama's Illinois finance chairman.

"He's developed very close relations with the Jewish community in Chicago. If you look at fund-raising, etc., the people who primarily support him are Jewish," says Crown. For starters, above his son in the fund-raising structure is Penny Pritzker, another local Jewish billionaire and the national campaign finance chairwoman. And along with Martha and Newton Minow, another of his earliest and most important mentors was former Chicago congressman and federal judge Abner Mikva, who ended up providing key political backing. ...

ON ECONOMICS: -- How Kennedy Assassination Affected Some Stock Prices

JONATHAN MARSHALL

Monday, November 18, 1996

....But the facts speak tellingly about how accidents of history can affect great fortunes.

A postscript for assassination buffs: No individual stood to lose more from the TFX scandal than Chicago investor Henry Crown, who owned 20 percent of General Dynamics. His personal attorney, Albert Jenner, became a senior staff attorney on the Warren Commission, in charge of investigating the possibility of a conspiracy. In later years, Jenner also represented Chicago labor racketeer Allen Dorfman. Dorfman's stepfather Paul, a leading figure in the Chicago mob, ran the Waste Handlers Union in Chicago in 1939 with Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald's future killer.

Both Dorfmans hated the Kennedy family. Robert Kennedy had hauled them before a Senate crime panel in the late 1950s, where they took the Fifth Amendment.

Allen Dorfman was murdered, gangland-style, in 1983 in the company of another friend of Ruby, Irwin Weiner. Attorney Jenner obtained Weiner's acquittal in a 1975 federal labor racketeering case after the government's leading witness was shotgunned to death.

Weiner was called to testify in 1978 before the House Select Committee on Assassinations about his relationship with Ruby, including a phone conversation with Ruby shortly before the assassination. He said the call was innocent.

The committee was investigating the theory -- which it never proved -- that organized crime had Ruby silence Oswald to disguise its own role in the Kennedy assassination.....

At this time Rosselli also went to Havana, where his contacts seem to have been made through his prewar work with Moe Annenberg's wire service. Blakey chose to link Roselli to Trafficante, by citing his "management role" in the Havana Sans Souci casino. More pertinent was probably the fact that the Sans Souci was operated, at this time, by Dave Yaras and Lenny Patrick, the suspected killers of James Ragen (9AH 948). Also at this time, Rosselli's most constant companion was "Major" Charles "Babe" Baron, a suspected murderer who was also brigadier -general in the Illinois National Guard. Baron was a protoge of Chicago Democratic machine leader Jake Arvey, as were Yaras and Patrick, and an even closer friend of Patrick Hoy, the Henry Crown employee at General Dynamics who arranged for Sidney Korshak to work for Hilton Hotels. Hoy was also general manager of the Sherman Hotelin Chicago, a hangout frequented by Ruby and Jones in 1947 (22 WH 366; 24 WH 518).

During the years Patrick Hoy worked for Byfield's Chicago Hotels, newspaper columinist "Kup", Kupcinet practically lived at the "Pump Room" restaurant in the Ambassador Hotel:

The Lost World of Kup - Chicago Magazine - June 2004 - Chicago

,,In the days immediately following the death last November of Irv Kupcinet, the legendary Chicago Sun-Times gossip columnist, his family prepared for a huge funeral. After all, Kup had spent six decades passing on mostly complimentary scoops about the rich and powerful.,,,

Kup had tapped a friendly style and a talent for listening to move from a tough West Side childhood into a role as the city's premier gossip columnist. Although he spent his entire career at what became the number-two paper in town, he was the columnist with the most clout-"the column you wanted to be in," says the former publicist Pat Matsumoto. At his peak, Kup was a celebrity news machine-producing six columns a week, moderating a late-night TV talk show, delivering color commentary on radio for the Chicago Bears.

He went out almost every night, using Booth One at the Pump Room, in the Ambassador East Hotel, as his office and salon. In those days before nonstop cross-country flights, Ernest Byfield, the Pump Room's founder, would send limousines to Union Station to corral the stars stopping in Chicago en route to New York or Los Angeles. Byfield made certain that celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, and Lauren Bacall would land at Booth One, where Kup and Essee awaited them. A strawberry blonde, dressed and groomed with theatrical flair, Essee once gave the young Marilyn Monroe a disapproving once-over and ushered her into the ladies' room to show her how to apply makeup....

http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine...p?cp=4&si=3 ....Over the years, Kup expanded his roster of sources to include the underworld. He ran into "the boys" at clubs on Rush Street or at places like the Chez Paree. Kup treated them in his usual manner-a "Hi, buddy," a slap on the back, and an expectation that they, like anyone else, would be a source of tips. And they were. Audri Adams, who handled publicity for the Pump Room, says Kup got items from Tony Accardo, Sam Giancana, and Gus Alex, all major Mob figures.

When Bugsy Siegel was shot to death in the Beverly Hills mansion of his girlfriend, Virginia Hill, in 1947, a True magazine reporter named Mike Stern called Kup. Hill had been hiding out, and Stern had heard she was living on money funneled to her by a local Mob bookkeeper. Stern guessed correctly that Kup might know him. Kup arranged a dinner at the Blackstone Hotel, and the bookkeeper mentioned in passing that Hill was staying in a small town in Montana. Stern found her and got his scoop. Why didn't the mobsters retaliate against Kup? Stern, now 93, says they liked him. And by then he was too powerful to harm.

And he was very close to Sidney Korshak, the Los Angeles–based Mob lawyer, a childhood friend from the West Side. Korshak, who died in 1996, was an incomparable source of news for Kup, not only about Mob matters but also about Hollywood (he represented studios and studio heads) and labor (ditto unions and union bosses). In 1958, when the Sun-Times moved from its old building on Wacker Drive to its later home on Wa-bash Avenue and the river, Louis Spear faced a refusal by paper handlers to unload a shipment of newsprint that had arrived by water. Spear contacted Korshak, and with one telephone call, Korshak sent the paper handlers to work......

The uncensored FBI reports and cables on the August break-in at Exner's Los Angeles apartment, made available for the book under the Freedom of Information Act, were urgently forwarded, in code, to J. Edgar Hoover. An FBI summary from the Los Angeles bureau, dated August 17, 1962, told Hoover something he already knew, even if some of his California agents didn't realize it. The summary described Exner as being in contact with Giancana and Rosselli and with Evelyn Lincoln. It also told Hoover something he didn't know; the Hale family and General Dynamics were linked to the break-in. "A man answering the description of the individual who entered (Exner's) apartment was observed leaving the area in an automobile registered to former Special Agent I.B. Hale who resides in Fort Worth, Texas," the summary said. "Our Dallas office has advised that. . . Hale is employed at General Dynamics. . . in charge of security." The summary noted that the crime its agents witnessed "is not being disseminated to the Los Angeles Police Department at this time."

Robert Hale grew up in affluent circumstances in Fort Worth, Texas.

His father was I.B. Hale, an FBI agent who later worked for defense contractor General Dynamics.

..She said she met Kennedy in Las Vegas in 1960 at a party given by "a friend." The friend was Singer Frank Sinatra; one former Kennedy aide understood that Sinatra and J.F.K.'s brother-in-law, Peter Lawford, owned a piece of a nightclub where Judy once worked as a hostess. A month after she met the President, Sinatra brought her together with Giancana, who later introduced her to Roselli. Both gangsters knew of her affair with Kennedy, but she insisted that neither of them tried to encourage or make use of it. Last Call...

...The end of her friendship with Kennedy apparently came when FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, whose sleuths learned of the affair during their investigation of Giancana and Roselli, had lunch with Kennedy at the White House on March 22, 1962. No one knows what the two discussed during the time that they were alone. But Hoover had made a point of being briefed beforehand about Judith Campbell's disconcerting friendships with both gangsters and a President. And according to White House logs, the last known telephone call between J.F.K. and Judy came only a few hours after the luncheon.

Also at this time, Rosselli's most constant companion was "Major" Charkes "Babe" Baron, a suspected murderer who was also a brigadier-general in the Illinois National Guard. Baron was a protege of Chicago Democratic machine leader Jake Arvey, as were Yaras and Patrick; and an even closer friend of Patrick Hoy, the Henry Crown employee at General Dynamics who arranged for Sidney Korshak to work for Hilton Hotels. Hoy was also the general manager of the Sherman Hotel in Chicago, a hangout frequented ny Ruby and Jones in 1947 (22 WH 366; 24 WH 518 Chicago crime commission, report, 1963)"

My point, John, is that I have posted a very well documented set of coincidences and interlocking relationships with a strong

"cui bono" slant, and the result is that I have barely raised any eyebrows of the other members of this forum. I've taken Jack Ruby, and for that matter, Obama to the doorstep of the father and son who gained the most wealth and enduring influence as a direct result of the events unleashed as a consequence of the sudden death of JFK.

From what I see, you got one deceased witness of sorts, to an alleged meeting that took place at Winnipeg airport.

Compare what you really have, and measure the strength of it against what I have posted in this post. Start a new thread and back up the quote from you I used to begin my last post. Your threshold of support must be equal or better to the level I have set here, John. What you believe is as plain as day to you, John. You have two problems, though. You cannot support what you lay out, even to the level I have with my examples in these posts, and even if you could, in my experience, you'll raise very few eye brows in the CT community.

Tom, all of the previous posting is essentially factual, and quite relevant to the JFK hit, but my approach has always been to discover or uncover things which lead

to the Three Strikes and you are IT, approach.

STRIKE 1) Tit-for-tat reciprocation and suspicious, gratuitous and massive payoffs with perfect timing after the JFK hit which were received by individuals who expressed deep animosity not only for JFK but for Truman, and even FDR before that going back to 1932 in fact. (GLK Smith and Wickliffe Draper)

STRIKE 2) If these same persons were also overheard, discussed and/or identified at meetings where patently obvious JFK conspirators were present (like at The Winnipeg Airport Incident overheard by Richard Giesbrecht) then that is Strike Two against them.

STRIKE 3) If these same 2 persons were cited in Richard Condon's Manchurian Candidate, by being named directly like GERALD L. K. SMITH was and indirectly like Draper was, and if BOTH of them had been the subject of MASSIVE investigations over the DECADES by the Anti-Defamation League, by Armen Dernonian who was part of another private investigative organization run by the Unitarian Church (The Plotters and Undercover) by Epstein and Forster, by the AFL-CIO agents like Wes McCuen and Wilbur Baldinger, and by dozens and dozens of writers over the years, you know that these guys were capable of just about anything.

STRIKE 4) Both Smith and Draper were experts in psychological warfare, in character assassination and in actual physical assassination when combined with Vonsiatsky.

GLK Smith had Huey Long killed, Vonsiatsky had personally murdered thousands of Bolsheviks, and in fact Draper was the PROXY for all those persons you cited above.

Plus all of these guys were experts in the OSS/CIA joint programs for programmed assassination. Draper PAID Eysenck to steal his ManCand techniques from MK/ULTRA.

STRIKE 5) Even AFTER their deaths, more information has come out to show that Draper and Smith and Vonsiatsky were the PROXIES for every Union-hating, Segregation-favoring, Democrat-Hating, sod-busting, War-mongering, Pentagon-loving, go-to-meeting, God-fearing, Baby-having, Eugenics-loving, Peace-hating, Stump-Grubbing anti-Communist and anti-Semite and anti-Afro-American who ever lived since the 1920's as GLK Smith liked to describe it.

You have yet to identify your Gang of Five like I have. Sometimes I think you have a Gang of Five Hundred in mind. And another 5,000 people RELATED to them.

Here is my Gang of Five most of whom either financed the American Security Council or were on the American Security Council:

1) Robert J. Morris

2) GLK Smith

3) Charles Willoughby

4) Anastase Vonsiatsky

5) Ray S. Cline

Who is the only PERSON as an INDIVIDUAL who received $100,000,000 as a direct result of the JFK hit because he ran the whole show? Name him!

Can you please supply us with your lists as well?

Who organized it? Name them. (5 people only) Who executed the hit? Name them! I go with Roy Hargraves list for Miami and for Dallas which he gave to Mary Ferrell.

Who was the CIA bag man from the North to the South Florida exiles? Name him! Which 3 CIA proprietaries laundered the money for JFK, Viet Nam and Iran Contra?

The same three proprietaries laundered money for all THREE operations.

We all know that Pentagon contractors benefited tremendously, but most of them DID NOTHING to add to the entire plot and to the the execution.

They just BENEFITED FROM IT. They just gave a nod, and said sure, go ahead, I agree with the decision.

And Tom, don't worry about being in my "good graces". You have always been up front and square with everyone, including me, and my little sidetrack blowoffs only

happen when you somehow ending up accusing people like Senator Claiborne Pell of RI of being somehow complicit in the hit or giving it his tacit approval since he did

nothing according to you and a lot of others. In fact I have personal inside info that when he tried to launch inquiries and ask dangerous questions to some CIA and FBI

types the Secret Service "miraculously uncovered a plot" against his life in South America, told him it was squelched and implied that if they were drawn into a massive

investigation of the JFK hit, there would not be enough agents available to rescue him from another possible plot against his life. The subtle hint was "stay away from your

planned inquiries" or "your life may be put into danger, due to reduced Secret Service manpower on your upcoming foreign trips." He got the hint. He suffered in silence for decades.

By the way Dan Moldea ranks up there alongside Lamar Waldron and a bunch of others as one of the LEAST RELEVANT writers in the history of the JFK hit. All he does is supply

evidence why many members of the mob wanted JFK dead, wished he were dead and smiled when he died. But they GOT NOTHING in RETURN. NOTHING AT ALL. And they would never the power to invoke a forced cover up either. Or to control the press or to affect the censoring of the documents. Or to influence hundreds of politicians. NOBODY woth their salt bothers to press the MOB issue any more. NO ONE.

4. Hoy suggests to Crown and his principle realty partner, Conrad Hilton, to put Kupcinet's best friend, mob lawyer Sidney Korshak on permanent retainer.

5. Kupcinet's daily newspaper co-writers are Jimmy and Ira Colitz, life long friends of Jack Ruby.

7. In 1956, Tom Clark, now at the Supreme Court, choses Crown's son, John as one of his two law clerks. In 1959, John Crown is hired at Albert Jenner's firm and becomes a partner by 1969.

8. Albert Jenner in 1953, represents Frank Darling, president of the electrical workers in Chicago, as Darling is questioned in senate hearings because he is first to make large union fund payments to Paul and Allen Dorfman for their group medical insurance products. In those hearings, the Dorfmans are represented by Pritzker's attorney, Stanford Clinton. Clinton is also the attorney for the Teamster's Central States Pension fund. Tom,

You know this coming together of White Russians and Chicago hotel and mob interests makes me think of the small hotel in downtown Chicago where Larry Meyers picked up Jean Aase ("a dumb but accomidating broad) and brought her to Dallas for the weekend of the assassination.

When Jim Garrison checked the phone records of Marcello attorney G. Ray Gill, he found a September 24, '63 phone call from Gill's office to a Chicago number that Larry Meyers also called in order to hook up with Aase. While Garrison attributed this call to David Ferrie, anyone in that office could have made the call and I don't believe it was Ferrie.

In any case, when they were having a JFK Conference in Chicago I visited that hotel at 20 Delaware Avenue and its still there, still owned and operated by the same White Russian family that had it in the '60s, whose name is mentioned in an article I wrote about all this many years ago (and posted at JFKResearch), and I'll try to find the name in my notes though I think it predates my oldest computer.

When Larry Meyers testified before the WC he said he met Jean Aase through a guy who managed the hotel, some of which had been converted to apartments, one rented to Aase, who also apparently worked as a waitress in the attached hotel bar/restaurant.

"I went home with the waitress,

like I always do.

How was I to know,

she was with the Russians too?

.....Send lawyers, guns and money,

and get me outa' this...." - Warren Zevon

There's a lot more going on behind the scenes here than meets the eye.

To put some things into perspective, Larry Meyers, a Chicago businessman, visits his old friend from Chicago Jack Ruby and Ruby introduces him to some people at the Dallas State Fair whose carnival tent showing of a film "How Hollywood Makes Movies," is failing and needs a financial backer. Meyers writes out a check for a few hundred dollars and makes it out to Ruby who cashes the check and keeps some of it, sharing the rest with two of the shows roustabouts - Larry Crafard and Joy McDonald, both of whom go to work for Ruby.

Meyers was in town that time for the grand opening of the Cabana Motor Lodge Hotel, which had a convention area, restaurants, bars and a nightclub with a band and dance floor. The Cabana was bilt with Teamster money and was fronted/owned by a hollywood celebrity and the Beatles stayed there when the came to Dallas in '64.

The Cabana was also where Jim Braden and his pals from California were staying while in Dallas on oil business, and, on the eve of the assassination, Jack Ruby met Larry Meyers and his brother, who owned the Pepsi franchise in Brooklyn (Still does) and was in town for the Bottlers Convention.

The next day, after Braden was taken into custody as a suspicious person in the Dal Tex building, when released he went to Houston and then to New Orleans where he visited Vernon Main, Jr. (whose still alive), whose office is on the same floor of the same (Pierre Marquette) office building as G. Ray Gill, the origin of the Sept. 24, 1963 phone call to the Chicago hotel where Jean Aase lived.

So things go around full circle on that one.

I'll try to find the name of the Chicago hotel and the name of the White Russian family who owns it and maybe you can connect them with the Crowns, Byfields and Hoyts et al.

In those hearings, the Dorfmans are represented by Pritzker's attorney, Stanford Clinton. Clinton is also the attorney for the Teamster's Central States Pension fund. Jenner's lawfirm agrees, circa 1960, to represent the Teamster's fund in a multimillion dollar loan to the Pritzkers to avoid Stanford Clinton's conflict of otherwise being attorney for both loan transaction parties.

9. In 1955, Ernest Byfield married Vala Osterman, a white Russian noble wpman. They were married until Vala's death in 1970. Vala's sister Nina was married to B. Rionda Braga's first cousin and business partner, Placido Ervesun. Vala Byfield's ex-husband, Pelayo Garcia Olay, was a minister representing Franco's Spanish regime in Havana, Washinton, and in New York in the 40' through 60's. Pelayo G. Olay was a cousin of B. Rionda Braga and the two corresponded.

10. In 1972, George HW Bush escorted Edward G. Hooker's daughter Susan as she married Rionda Braga's son.

11. When Earl Warren advanced the name of Albert Jenner to the other six Warren Commissioners,

Warren said that two men had approved Jenner to serve as WC senior assistant investigative counsel, Tom Clark and Dean Acheson. Hoover, as well as Clark, of course, were aware, according to Pearson, that Jenner's prinicple client, Henry Crown, was at the top of the Chicago mob.

12. Susan Hooker Braga later divorced Ames Braga, and close friends of George Bush and his ex-CIA business partner, Thomas Devine, aka Wubriny-1, brothers John and Willaim B. Macomber, Jr., introduced Susan to her second husband, JOhn Macomber's protege, Michael Ainslie.

13. After Vala Byfield died in 1970, Ernest Byfield, Jr. married Italian countess Diana Masieri.

Ernest died in the 1990's, and in 2004, his widow, Diana, married Robert Strange McNamara.

The guy at the Parrot Jungle was identified and turned out to be a Cuban who had worked in the Havana casinos and knew Mike McLaney and stayed at the home of his brother William on Lake Pon in La,, is that right?
