I have just added two new books by Donald Gibson, "battling Wall Street" and "Kennedy assassination cover-up". These books, long out of print, now sell for hundreds of dollars.

Does anyone have a copy of the "Dark Side of Lyndon Johnson" by Joachim Joesten that they would like to let Barry put online. He would have to take the binding off the pages in order to do this?

This is an EXTREMELY RARE and extremely valuable book. Currently there are no copies of this book for sale at Amazon or Abe Books.

I have a xeroxed copy of it. I wonder if that would be convertible to PDF file. Unfortunately, I have already made some notes in it, but it is better than nothing.

Thanks to Robert Morrow, who just donated a book worth hundreds of dollars for the purposes of residing in the archive. The hardcopy book is essentially destroyed thanks to the scanning process, but the electronic version remains intact. It is the Billy sol Estes book. Lots of valuable information there. It is also indexed, ctrl+shift+f with Acrobat X.

This is the first time that someone has given me a book for these purposes, hopefully it will not be the last.

JFK researchers, what are some OTHER good books we should be targeting to preserve for posterity and researchers? Both JFK and other. We only want to do books that are out of print and the author is no longer making money off selling the book.

What are some other ones YOU can contribute or suggest?

For example, I can't even find a price on Amazon for "Marina Oswald" by Joachim Joesten.

Ditto the critical book "The Dark Side of Lyndon Johnson" also by Joesten. I am looking for a clean copy of that one. Almost impossible to find.

It goes or $175 used on Amazon. It is definitely out of print and not available on Kindle.

You can learn from almost every book on the JFK assassination, even the lone nutter ones. But their nutrient value might only be 1-2% vs something like 95% for LBJ: Mastermind by Phillip Nelson or JFK and the Unspeakable by James Douglass.

The Evica AND WE ARE ALL MORTAL PDF has a couple of pages out of order. Pages 9 and 10 appear between pages 22 and 23 for some reason (possibly they were printed that way in the original book). It's not a big issue at all but I thought I'd give a heads-up for anyone reading through the file. The pages are there, you just have to scroll down to read them, then scroll back up to continue where you left off. AND WE ARE ALL MORTAL is a very solid volume and should have been kept in print - thanks again to Barry for uploading this and the others.

That is the best way to approach research and books in general. Some books have golden nuggets of good research in the middle of pedestrian info or even junk.

I have no doubt that Armstrong is an intelligent man who honestly believes his theories.

But the "Harvey and Lee" 2-Oswalds theory is one of the great canards of JFK research. I think Armstrong is good at *collecting* information, but his way of *analyzing* it is much to be desired.

Armstrong said to read his chapters on 1) the rifle and 2) Mexico City.

I for one, think Oswald DID indeed go to Mexico City. Where he was impersonated by someone who looked and sounded NOTHING like Oswald.

As you know, US copyright law protects authors and their publishers from such illegal activities for a period of the author's life

plus seventy-five years. Books that are out-of-print are not in the public domain. While "With Malice" is currently out of print,

the title can be reprinted at any time, which is my legal right as owner and author.

A word of warning though: It might not be strictly legal to make and share digital copies of copyrighted material. In most cases I'm sure you'll have no problems but, as Robert pointed out, Bloody Treason is available in Kindle format and Noel Twyman might not be best pleased to find you are giving it away. The same might be true about Bob Groden's book which I'm pretty sure he's still selling himself.

Just don't wanna see you get in trouble for being nice!

Copyright lasts for 70 years after the death of the author. Even if the author is dead, you are likely to be in trouble with their relatives.

Dale is obviously within his rights to respond the way he has, but the 'so called' part of his above sentence made me chuckle. 'Out of print' means out of print. Regardless, I find it funny that he's freaking out about the hypothetical copying of his book when the forum member who requested it is only interested in a couple of illustrated diagrams from it. Here's a suggestion - someone redraw those diagrams and post those instead, that way Dale can keep his copyright and potentially benefit from the 50th anniversary windfall when all the lone-nutter books get reprinted next year in one big salvo to offset the arguments of those spooky conspiracy theorists.

If this thread gets shut down, Barry can and should post whatever books he likes to the popular, widely used and continually active www.scribd.com document sharing site, where thousands of books are freely uploaded every day, and where they - very rarely - occasionally get taken down when an individual author or publisher goes to the trouble of asking the Scribd management to remove it. (Out-of-print books on political topics tend to be left alone on that site though - I've grabbed a bunch of stuff from there on different occasions). Scribd would be the responsible agents, not John Simkin. That noted, John has already informed his users about copyright.

If this thread gets pulled Barry and the others interested in this service can take discussion of the scanned books to private message or even email, and / or start a free Blogger or Wordpress blog linking every single scanned book with titles and covers and discussion if need be.
