Good Day.... Interesting article by Mr. MACK WHITE, who went to Dealey Plaza on 23NOV63....

http://www.mackwhite.com/Dealey.html

A quick photographic triangulation shows that the location MACK WHITE is standing in the photograph to be from about where the FRANZEN's were located during the attack.

I found his description of seeing men, presumed to be investigators, looking through a tripod-mounted weapon located from the Dal-Tex Building, particularly interesting, given the authorities already had the, presumed, "lone nut" under arrest right next door....

(QUOTE)

...

We walked to Dealey Plaza, passing the Dallas city jail. My father told me that Lee Harvey Oswald was being held inside. This made a great impression on me, to think that inside that very building was the man who had done the horrible thing.

We were sure of Oswald's guilt. At that early hour, everyone was. It never occurred to us that his guilt might be less than a sure thing. The doubts would not begin until the next day, when local Mob man Jack Ruby appeared on the stage of history and shot Oswald while in police custody.

In front of the Texas Schoolbook Depository a man was selling copies of the Dallas Times-Herald. There was a huge stack of papers, but only a few people to buy them. Strange as it may seem now, tourists had not yet begun to arrive in Dealey Plaza in significant numbers. That morning it was mostly reporters and cops.

My father bought one of the papers (which I still have) and we walked around, my father taking pictures (which I also still have).

At one point, my father pointed out the so-called "sniper" window to me. As I was looking up, my eye wandered away from the window to the fire escape on the building across the street--the Dal-Tex building-where I saw two men taking turns looking through the scope of a rifle mounted on a tripod.

I was alarmed. "What are they doing?" I asked.

"It's part of the investigation," said my father.

So the police were checking out an alternative sniper perch. Evidently, that morning, there was still something resembling a real investigation. The investigation, of course, would end the next day with Oswald’s death.

...

(END QUOTE)

Does anyone know of any documented reports by investigators of any Dal-Tex shots visual recreations performed on 23NOV63?

There are location points on the Dal-Tex from which an assassin(s) bullet(s) trajectory(s) pass extremely close to the warrenatti, supposed, "snipers lair," nearly duplicating the exact same horizontal, vertical, and lateral attack trajectory(s) angle(s) for the inevitable autopsy to follow the attack.

"Well, to me, it sounded high, and I immediately kind of looked up, and I had a feeling that it came from the building, either right in front of me (TSBD), or, of the one across to the right of it (DAL-TEX)." (my INSERTIONS)

Don,

Duncan MacRae has a posting on this exact subject on DellaRosa's forum, in the photographic evidence section. Seems that as Jim has suggested, there may have been more than a man with a funny hat on a radio in the window, and a large man with a funny hat on the fire escape. Duncan found what appears to be a man with a rifle on the 3rd tier.

If you consider the type of fire escape in question, it is accessible from street level. You wouldn't need Larry Florer or Jim Braden to get you into position. You could force a broom closet window from the outside, or arrange to have it remain open in advance.

Here's an observation for you - how does a large man like the one seen in Altgens even get to a position like that on a fire escape unaided? Does he crawl out an open window? Or is he nimble enough to jump high enough to pull the escape down at street level? Does he eat his lunch out there everyday, or was this a once-in-a-lifetime occasion for him? Why the funny hat?

Can't post photos.

- lee

Did anybody ever come up with a blueprint layout of the Dal Tex building, as someone had previously requested?

Don.

This is the "Shel Hershorn Contact Sheet" taken from the "Dal-Tex building" the camera position seem to be almost level with the 6th floor of the TSBD .

I used to believe that the Daltex sniper was behind that fire escape too, but I think there is a much more likely location:

And if the limo stays in the leftmost lane, the Dal-Tex shooter still has a shot after the Stemmons sign, it appears.

Interesting how the curvature at the left lane has been regularized out of existence over years of repaving. Routine maintenance, to be sure.

Greg here is the information that goes along with the photos at that site, see post 10.. thanks for posting photos i have had troubles of late copying such,pc problems what else is new, anyway..here is the info, many thanks...

This photograph appears on page 22. The caption reads,"From the same building where Oswald lay in ambush, a telescopic lens reconstructs an approximation of what the killer saw at the moment of tragedy". The photograph does appear to support the idea that a single shot could have hit both Kennedy and Texas Governor John Connally. However, the photograph, despite the caption, was not taken from the schoolbook depository. The distinctive brickwork of the schoolbook depository (see photo from pages 24-25) is clearly seen on the right hand side of the photograph, proving that the photograph was actually staged from the Daltex building. The traffic signs clearly in view indicate a much lower angle than would be seen from 6 floors up.

Compare the above view of the street with that seen in the next photo taken from just INSIDE the 6th floor window of the Texas Schoolbook Depository from which Oswald was supposed to have fired
