The idea for MindWeavers started in the middle of 1996 following the discovery that many children with a specific language impairment (SLI) had problems in perceiving simple sounds, particularly sounds that changed rapidly in time. Subsequent research has shown that children with a variety of learning problems, including SLI, autism, dyslexia, and attention deficit disorder, have identifiable physiological signs of hearing problems in the central auditory pathway of the brain. However, other research showed that intense auditory training could help, or even cure these problems.
