"He (Don Hewitt) told Dan Rather to "sock him [Abraham Zapruder] in the mouth," "grab his film" recording the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, make a copy, apologize to him and then give it back.
He called Rather back to call the whole thing off after his reason returned, but he felt then, as he does now, that, "it was a piece of history that belonged to everybody."
