Sounds like teh 60s infiltration of the SDS by Hoovers trained dogs. the Feds were often the most active members, and often encouraged others to use acts of violence. when the State's whole legitimacy is based on never ending war, it is seen as an act of finacial terrorism to oppose it.

Yes. Sadly, it is nothing new, but with the new 'terrorism lists' and what they can 'get you' or not allow you to get - let be done to you, or not allow you to retain your freedom, be free of torture, or even get a trial - it is more insidious than before, in some ways. America has returned to the McCarthy Period - and then some - but with more draconian laws IMO and a much more advanced technology to intrude on everyone, track everyone, monitor everyone, etc. The other slight change is the new charge of terrorist, rather than 'red' (whatever that meant). Being 'red' was usually understood to be the belief in an alternative [and to those in power, undesirable] political and/or economic system; but terrorism implies violence. Peace advocacy is all about the opposite of violence....but those idiots and moral cretins in power don't see the obvious, that they have it completely backwards and they are the ones into violence and even terrorism.

What rough beast, its hour come round, slouches toward Jerusalem to be born. Nothing like a bit of Yeats.

I agree that the present orthodoxy is starting to resemble ol Joe ( McCarthy or Stalin, take your pick) But it also shows how bloody terrified our masters are that we might show some resistance to their plans. There is hope yet.
