While Andy and myself were away on our holidays the Forum came under attack from a computer based in Australia. They employed software that used up 98% of our total bandwidth for the month. One again we have had to spend more money to get the Forum back online.

We are currently searching for the culprit. What we do know is that the person responsible was using the IP 59.106.128.138

Interesting that you were where the culprit lived....! Sorry it happened, but not surprised and sadly think it will again. I know there are 'white' hackers out there that know the same things that 'black' hackers do but can work to prevent these kinds of things and get you back online fast when they do. The IP should be traceable....Pine Gap?

Hi John

You might be right that IP address IP 59.106.128.138 is out of Australia. Although the following Internet search site might suggest it is a Japanese address--

Data on Who Is 59.106.128.138

All my best

The Project Honey Pot system has detected behavior from the IP address consistent with that of a spam harvester. Below we've reported some other data associated with this IP. This interrelated data helps map spammers' networks and aids in law enforcement efforts.

A spam harvester can read through the pages in your site and extract email
addresses which are then added to bulk marketing databases. The result: more spam

Thanks John.
