My name is Brian Pemberton, I live in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan and am retired, having been a Baptist minister and a teacher of RE and various other subjects, including history. My reason for contacting your site is that I am trying to get a picture of population growth in the area where I live for the purposes of understanding the connections between churches and their communities in different generations. I understand that Cadoxton (the area of Barry where I live) had 128 inhabitants in 1851 or thereabouts, when Barry proper had only six houses! I would like to know the situation in 1901, 1951 and 2001 for comparison. Perhaps a visit to our local library might be a better idea.
