American Conservatism

Interesting observation. I too have noticed that even the left-wing among us tend to be very patriotic, but I cannot explain this. I am proud to be an American and I am thankful for the opportunites presented to me because my family left England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany (as with most Americans my ancestory is becoming harder to trace) but at the same time I can see the problems with my country and I don't have a problem with others pointing it out. In fact, I find that it is often a refreshing new view that I can incorporate into my arguments.

Generally speaking, teachers tend to be more liberal than many other walks of American society. I suppose that this comes from their liberal arts training at University.
