So....to recap from my last post, just above John's (good to see you, here, John...), Phyllis is allegedly the daughter of Simone Fleisher Stecker Washington and adopted by CIA's S. Walter Washington, Simone's most recent spouse. Simone is the sister of Marion Fleisher, married to Wm. Stix Wasserman, a good friend of George's.

But Jenner and the WC record seem to indicate that PHyllis was a Wasserman, and George glides right over the question....and....Phyllis was CIA, too?

Despite it's tiny enrollment, or....maybe because of it, in addition to Cogswell, three Amherst alumni have spent time at CIA since 1977, all three serving as DCI.

I'll start a new thread to take a closer look at Amherst. The Lindsay twins, John and David, were ushers in Nancy Bush's 1946 wedding party. Their brother George became lead partner at Debevoise and Plimpton. Eli Whitney Debevoise served as HICOG McCloy's counsel and then his deputy, and McCloy appointed Francis Plimpton's brother as Amherst's president. Stansfield Turner attended Amherst for five semesters and then transferred to the US Naval Academy. Turner "relieved" GHW Bush as DCI in 1977, after Ted Sorenson was nominated for DCI by newly elected President Jimmy Carter, and then Sorenson meekly withdrew after his nomination was shouted down by Carter's own right wing sympathizing democrats in the U.S. Senate.

ARTFUL TOM, A MEMOIR

by Thomas Hoving

5. ON THE JOB TRAINING

..My drinking and carousing somehow got to my father (I suspect my mother had tipped him off) and, alarmed at the many times I -- or had it been my twin, Dyke? -- had been spotted lurching around town, he yanked me out of the Vineyard and restricted me to his new summer digs. I was fifteen years old.

Pauline had bought a Victorian house in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, on "Nob Hill" -- to me, obviously, "Snob Hill." The house had a gracious porch overlooking a two-acre impeccably mowed lawn with five stately maple trees. She left Long Island because "Walter was being given the eye by every woman unattached or very much attached." I was amused at the idea that my straight-laced and by now Christian fundamentalist father might have had an affair....

..Stockbridge was populated with New York and New England high society and I soon met the local aristocrats who cherished gambling, drinking, skinny-dipping, playing pool and billiards and staying up until long after midnight. Just my style....

...The Deelys spent part of every summer in Florence or Paris or London.

Other luminaries were Rudd Truax of the family that owned a major share of the New Yorker magazine and Celia de Gersdorff, a Boston beauty with a heart yearning for adventure. I had a crush on her. ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Hoving

Thomas Pearsall Field Hoving (January 15, 1931 – December 10, 2009) was an American museum executive and consultant and the former director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[1]

Biography

He was born in New York City to Walter Hoving, the head of Tiffany & Company, and his wife, Mary Osgood Field. Thomas Hoving grew up surrounded by New York's upper social strata. As recounted in his memoir, Making the Mummies Dance, these early experiences would be invaluable in his later dealings with the Met's donors and trustees.

After graduating from Hotchkiss School in 1949, he received a B.A. in 1953, a M.F.A. in 1958, and a Ph.D. in 1959, all from Princeton University. He went to work for the Met in 1959, serving on the staff of the medieval department at The Cloisters until 1965, when he became curator of the department. He left the Met in 1966 to become New York Mayor John V. Lindsay's parks commissioner, but in 1967 returned to the Met as director after the incumbent, James J. Rorimer, died suddenly on March 11, 1966. He assumed the directorship on March 17, 1967 and presided over a massive expansion and renovation of the museum, successfully adding many important collections to its holdings.[1]

He left the Met on June 30, 1977 to start an independent consulting firm for museums, Hoving Associates...

ABOUT MY OWN LIFE by Letitia Baldrige

...My father was a big, lovable teddy bear of a man who was a star on his football teams at Andover (1914) and Yale (class of 1918, which left to go to war in 1917). He was also captain of Yale's wrestling team, and a decorated hero in both WWI and II. A Republican Congressman from Nebraska, he was a celebrated lawyer who was busy helping people all his life.

My two older brothers, Mac (Malcolm Baldrige Jr.) and Bob, were the bane of my existence while we were growing up, and I, the baby of the family and the only girl, was certainly the bane of theirs. We all grew into adolescence, fortunately, and became best friends. Like our father, they were decorated WW II heroes. I have counted on them all through my life, and miss them every day. They married wonderful women, Midge Murray from Pittsburgh and Nancy Bierwirth from Lawrence, Long Island. Those marriages produced four beautiful daughters who in turn produced a flock of boys and girls.

I was the tardy one in the family to get married, but finally I did, in my mid-thirties, to a wonderful man named Robert Hollensteiner. We proceeded to produce a girl, Clare, named after Clare Luce, and a son, Malcolm Baldrige, named after about seven Malcolm Baldrige’s in our family. Clare grew up and married a great young doctor, Jim Smyth, whose parents came over from Ireland. They have had four children and live in Bronxville, NY. They tragically lost their only daughter to brain cancer at the age of eight. Malcolm married Carey Shoemaker, from Virginia Beach, and they had four children in short order, and live in Bethesda, Md. Malcolm is a mortgage broker. We have been blessed by all of this.

EDUCATION

Through much of my life, I attended the very best schools on scholarships. My parents were hard hit by the Great Depression, but they put in our minds the fact that we would go nowhere in life without working for it. I had a strict education, beginning with the Convent of the Sacred Heart (one of my classes was taught in Latin), and the nuns knew just how to rein in my ebullience (---if only the nuns were around today for our grandchildren)!

I graduated from Miss Porter's School, Farmington, Connecticut, a strict, wonderful all-girl boarding school. A beautiful fellow-Washingtonian and friend, Jacqueline Bouvier, followed three years behind me, as well as to Vassar College (in those days all-female students). Vassar had a splendid English program, and since I had visions of becoming a writer, a Vassar degree in English was a logical, desirable aspiration. Instead, because of an enormous personality conflict, my professor banished me from the English Department. It was a momentous rejection. I dried my tears (parental orders), switched my major to Psychology, and later took enormous delight in sending my English professor all of my published books, hot off the press, until the day she died, probably grateful not to have to put up with me any more.

Then came graduate school in psychology at L'Université de Genève, Switzerland, and my life took a 360 degree turn. It was 1947, Europe was licking its wounds from the Great War, and I was just awestruck to be in the middle of it.

FIRST JOB: AMERICAN EMBASSY, PARIS (1948-1951)

Four glorious years, I worked for Ambassador and Mrs. David Bruce, learning about official U.S. protocol, about entertaining with grace and panache, whether it involved hordes of people, or small, intimate dinners. It seemed that all of the important figures of world history in postwar Europe passed through Paris, meeting at our embassy residence, from U.S. presidents and their cabinets to all the great generals of the war, as well as the heads of state from around the world. The embassy in Paris was the center of the world stage during those years. And I was there.

AMERICAN EMBASSY: ROME (1953-1956)

Home from Paris, I could hardly wait to get back to Europe. After a short stint with the CIA in Washington, I was off to Rome, to work with one of the most charismatic, fascinating women in the world: Clare Boothe Luce, and her even more famous husband, Time-Life publisher Henry R. Luce. I got the job because I spoke Italian and French by now, and I had been trained in Paris by the greatest: Evangeline Bruce. Again, it was the time to be in Rome. I was learning, learning. World events were unfolding, including the escalation of the cold war. It was mind-boggling being privy to the workings of the mind of Clare Luce, who taught me so much - including the fact that "no good deed goes unpunished," and "anyone can write a book who knows how to apply the seat of the pants to the seat of the chair."

THE WHITE HOUSE (1963-1965)

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy asked me to head up her White House staff because by now I had more experience in the diplomatic staff duties than anyone else, I spoke foreign languages, and most important of all, the new First Lady and I were friends of long standing. There have been so many books written on these years, the entire period is documented brilliantly for anyone who is in the slightest way interested. The sad fact is that probably 60% of these books and articles are sheer made-up nonsense, if not outright trash.

THE BUSINESS WORLD

In-between my foreign service career and White House days, I was Tiffany & Co's first woman executive, and organized their first publicity and public relations department (1956-1962). I had the toughest, meanest boss imaginable: Walter Hoving. He was also the most brilliant merchant there ever was. A demanding teacher, he humbled me constantly. I obviously needed it, but whether I did or not, I am grateful to him for everything he taught me and forced me to do, in order to better myself. (A typical Hoving gesture: I wrote Tiffany's first table setting book, beginning a whole business of interior design books that married Tiffany's merchandise to the history of the decorative arts. When the book was published, (spectacular-looking - if I do say so myself) my name was nowhere to be seen as author. "The name Tiffany is what counts," Hoving explained. He had removed my name as author. It wasn't as if he put his own name as author. He explained, “No person has any importance, only the name of the company."

I opened my own PR and marketing company, Letitia Baldrige Enterprises, Inc. in 1964. I began with a small but very respectable list of clients, including Tiffany & Co., Quaker Oats, Elizabeth Arden, the Northern Trust Bank, and the Merchandise Mart. I have been lecturing professionally now since 1948. I have been the first woman corporate director on several boards. I continue to serve on boards in the non-profit sector. The one that means a great deal to me is the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards, "for excellence in business" and named for my brother Mac, former Secretary of Commerce....

Were the Kennedys and their advisers clueless about the monsters they let into their midst, or just complacent? Of course, I would invite a die hard, partisan republican, ex-CIA, Luce worshipper into my most intimate professional circle...anybody would, right?

Sheesh!!!

I love topics such as these that focus on very well connected JFK murder involved individuals that are still alive and well. I honestly believe that it is a bit of both. They were truly unawares, perhaps a bit naive and complacent. Surely what many honest researchers know concerning the power elite now were not as well known by as many back then. It is very profound when you look back in hindsight nowadays...

The 21 November 1963 obit. of Charles Clucas contains such details, leading to a surprising number of coincidences.

As I posted on the Ben Bradlee thread, I found that the widow of Charles Clucas in Nov., 1963, Celia de Gersdorff, was the niece of Ben Bradlee's mother's mother (Josephine de Gersdorff).

On the day before the JFK assassination, the obituary of Charles Clucas was published. Clucas's sudden death made Celia de Gersdorff, daughter of Ben Bradlee's mother's uncle George Bruno de Gersdorff, a widow.

Charles Clucas was divorced in 1959 from Baroness Phyllis De Mohrenschildt.

Just a few key words and names here, but they are associated and intriguingly intertwined and repetitive.: Clucas - DeMohrenschildt - de Gersdorff - Thomas Hoving, Bush - Devine - Macomber - Lindsay, Cogswell - New Yorker - Truax - McCloy, Paris in the 1950's - CIA - John Train - Plimpton - McCloy, Thomas Hoving - Walter Hoving - John V. Lindsay - Met. Museum of Art - William B. Macomber, Jr. - C. Douglas Dillon - Roswell Gilpatric, Albert B. Carter, Jr. - Lowell Clucas, Jr. - Munich - Thomas J. Devine - Charles Hubbard (step-son of Henry C. Brunie, best man of John McCloy)

There must be an intimidation factor to hosting a birthday party for the grandest of Dallas grande dames, Nancy Hamon. It's hard to impress someone who once chartered the entire Sea Goddess ship for a Mediterranean cruise with her pals and who booked Louis Armstrong to entertain at one of her and her late husband, Jake's, parties.

But Monday night's 91st birthday dinner and private concert for Nancy at the Winspear Opera House met the mark.

Not only was the entertainer mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, she was accompanied by composer Jake Heggie, who wrote the role of Madeline for Frederica in his opera Last Acts.

It was also an opportunity to take Nancy's recent gift to the AT&T Performing Arts Center for a test run. The event was the first private performance held in the Winspear's Nancy B. Hamon Education and Recital Hall.

Only 150 friends were on hand for the evening hosted by Nancy's pals Margaret McDermott, Mary McDermott Cook, Barbara and Mark Lemmon, Roxanne and Gene Phillips, Caren Prothro and Marnie and Kern Wildenthal.

Among the exalted guests were philanthropists Margot and Ross Perot; SMU president Gerald Turner and his wife, Gail; Rosewood Hotels founder Caroline Rose Hunt with Fort Worth oilman Charles Simmons; Mary Noel Lamont, daughter of the late Texas icons Lupe and John Murchison, and her husband, Bill; as well as Dallas opera stalwarts Ellen and Don Winspear, son of opera house eponyms Margot and Bill Winspear; Joyce and Harvey Mitchell and Arlene and John Dayton.

After Frederica's recital, the black-tie guests retired to the Winspear's lobby for a Wolfgang Puck-catered dinner.

Land sakes, alive! They're talking about the people who were in Nancy Bush's 1946, wedding party, (Macomber, John Lindsay...his brother George became lead partner at Debevoise, Plimpton) and people close to them. Debevoise was Skull and Bones and McCloy's assistant HICOG in Germany. What are they all doing at the Met?

Antiquities Whistleblower Oscar White Muscarella

The Whistleblower & The Politics Of The Met's Euphronios Purchase: A Talk With Oscar White Muscarella

...OWM: No, he's not. He was a member for years. He had power. He could handle things privately in the State Department.

I met a State Dept. man once regarding Turkey's Lydian treasure. And he told me that Ashton Hawkins - the consigliere of the Metropolitan Museum of Art - went to him in the State Dept. to officially ask on the part of the board of trustees, the mayor of New York City and the rich and powerful - to "get those Turks off the Met's back". I asked him what he'd done.

He said he told him he wouldn't do it. I'm talking about a man from the State Dept. Now you go back to 1973 around the time of the Euphronios purchase and my firing, you have the mayor of New York City John Lindsay - who was a personal friend of Hoving's for years. Who also worked together with Dillon and the Rockefellers. You get the controller of the City of New York, the president of the city council. Over decades people who held these elected public offices have participated in and accepted every theft and crime committed by the trustees and their employees, the directors and curators.

So in 1973 we have Arthur Sulzberger, the Haughton family, C. Douglas Dillon, Francis Plimpton (Debevoise & Plimpton). . .

I am very glad that Tom joined the Forum, just to cite one example both Tom and Linda Minor have contributed greatly in regards to genealogical info that has more than elucidated

certain areas, so with that in mind I wanted to share some information that seems fairly straightforward.......

Seems like, genealogy speaking, it is worth knowing....hope I didn't detract from the thread.

in 1960's right-winger Dan Smoot's The Invisible Government - 1962 - The Americanist Library

pages 60-70

he writes "In September 1960 Harpers Magazine, published an article by Hobart Rowan, entitled "America's Most Powerful Private Club"

Smoot cites The Business Advisory Council, which apparently, is referenced in Rowan's Harpers piece, as evidence of, in Smoot's opinion of some 1960's version of a Rush Limbaugh-like "left wing socialist's taking over America."

Personally, my only interest was an accurate account of who was the CEO or, the Director of Lykes Steamship Co., circa 1961-63.,

at any rate there is an entry for Solon B Turman in Smoot's accompanying account

where he continues...."I have obtained the names of 120 'active' and 'graduate' members of the BAC listed below" (Business Advisory Council)

Robert: One of those 120 entries was for:

Solon B Turman (President and Director of Lykes Brothers Steamship Co., Inc.,

Vice Chairman of Lykes Brothers Inc., President of Gulf and South American Steamship Co.;

end

So starting there, I decided to follow up and see what I could find, as I was familiar with Howell T. and James McKay Lykes

see

http://www.tshaonlin.../articles/etlzz

But I had not ever heard of the name Turman associated with the Lykes Steamship Co.

So, I decided to do some digging.

Below is what I discovered.

Solon B Turman August 28, 1861-December 19, 1911

Note His wife Sophie P Wilson Turner,is interred in Oakland Cemetery, Tampa

Burial:

Woodlawn Cemetery

Hillsborough County

Florida, USA

Solon Brinton Turman, born 28 August 1861, son of Simon Turman and Meroba Hooker. He married first 1897 Flordia to Sophia P Wilson then Matilda Lykes daughter of Dr.Howell Lykes. Solon Brinton Jr. born 1900 Tampa, Flordia was a Steamboat Company Executive. Simon Turman jr. was born 1829 Vermillion co. Indiana died 22 May 1864 Georgia.(died of wounds received in the Civil War) was buried in the Oakland Cemetery Hillsborough County, Flordia. he was a newspaper Publisher in Covington,Indiana. Simon Jr. married 20 Sept. 1860 to Meroba Hooker who died 19 April 1898 Tampa, Flordia. the daughter of William Brinton Hooker and Mary Amanda Hare. Their only child was Solon Brinton. Simon Turman Jr was the son of Judge Simon Turman and Abijah Cushman. Judge Simon Turman was born 23 Feb.1799 Champaign County, Ohio died 31 Oct. 1859 of yellow fever in Tampa, Fla. buried in theOak Lawn Cemetery, Tampa. Abijah Cushman was born 23 April 1799 Onondage County, New York died 3 Jan. 1864 Tampa, Fla. the daughter of Seth Cushman Jr and Nancy Rundel(1776-1842) Judge Simon Turman was the son of Benjamine Turman Sr. and Sarah Harbour of Virginia. Benjamine Sr. is as far back as anyone has found on the family, unless they tie in with Ignatius Tureman who was in King and Queens Co. Va. as early as 1704. Hope this has helped you a little. Gladys Turman, Mannford, Oklahoma

and

It may also be worth noting, from a genealogy standpoint that Jack Ruby was fairly well acquainted, with Reagan "Buddy" Turman, a boxer.

http://www.maryferre...6&relPageId=142

But the most informative information re Solon Turman is his obituary

Tampa Tribune, The (FL) - October 12, 1990

Ex- Lykes Bros. executive Solon Turman , 90, dies

NEW ORLEANS -- Solon Brinton Turman, a native of Tampa and former chairman of Lykes Brothers Steamship Co., died Tuesday at the age of 90 in New Orleans after a long illness.

Private memorial services were conducted Thursday at the House of Bultman in New Orleans.

The son of Solon B. Turman and the former Tillie Lykes , Turman was a nephew of the seven Lykes brothers who founded the massive shipping, cattle, citrus and insurance empire bearing their name.

In 1985, Turman gave $2 million to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for an outpatient services and education center that was named in his honor. It unites outpatient health programs and community professional health education services in one complex.

He also was a longtime benefactor of Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He and his late wife established a $3 million endowment there to aid selected patients unable to pay for major unexpected medical expenses. The hospital also named the Dolly and Solon B. Turman Ambulatory Treatment Center in their honor.

Turman retired in 1972 as chairman of the executive committee of Lykes -Youngstown Corp. He had begun his apprenticeship in 1919 as a cattle tender aboard one of the Lykes ships running between Tampa and Cuba.

In the intervening years, Turman served in a number of managerial posts, culminating in his election as executive vice president of Lykes Brothers Steamship Co. in 1943, president in 1951 and chairman and chief executive officer in 1962.

Turman attended schools in Tampa, then Virginia Military Institute. He went to New Orleans in 1921, and later served as special European representative for the Lykes shipping firm in the mid-1920s, living in Belgium, Holland, Germany and England. In 1925, he was named a Lykes director.

In 1949, he received the French Medal of Commercial Merit, and in 1957 he was named Louisiana's first "Maritime Man of the Year" by the Propeller Club of New Orleans.

In 1961, President John Kennedy presented the American Legion's Merchant Marine Achievement award to Turman in a White House ceremony.

He was named "Man of the South" by Dixie Business magazine in 1968.

Turman was a former director of the Illinois Central Railroad and the Hibernia National Bank in New Orleans. He was former chairman of the executive committee of the Committee of American Steamship Lines.

A frequent visitor to Tampa until recent years, Turman at one time held the title vice chairman of the board of Lykes Brothers Inc., the family's overall holding firm for its varied financial interests.

Turman is survived by one niece, Almeria H. Wright, and one grandnephew, J. Parke Wright IV of Tampa.

Tampa Tribune, The (FL)

Anyway, I thought it was worth a mention.

Several questions are raised by this letter:

1. Who had he been talking to about Oswald?

2. What had he been saying?

3. Why should he contact the director of the CIA about this? (John Simkin)

Russ Baker answers these questions beginning with his subtitle "From One George to Another" at page 268.

I am not sure he does. Russ Baker writes about George de Mohrenschildt's meetings with Willem Oltmans. However, those meetings began in February 1977. De Mohrenschildt's letter is dated September 1976.

In his 1977 book (in Dutch) "Reportage over de Kennedy-moordenaars"(Report on the Kennedy-killers) Willem Oltmans writes about his contacts with George and Jeanne DeMohrenschildt.

He did not only meet them a couple of times between 1967 and 1977, but they also sent letters to each other.

In October 1967 Willem Oltmans did interview DeMohrenschidt for the NOS (Dutch television).

During the time that DeMohrenschildt died they were in touch about doing another tv interview. Willem Oltmans testifies in his book (and later on on tv) that DeM. behaved strangly and afraid.

So I think it is possible that he talks about Willem Oltmans. After finishing his book (1977) Oltmans was threatened (as he himself called "warned") from Washington.

In US press a pamphlet circulated which was said to come from DeM. possessions. In it he is said to claim that both Oltmans, and Dutch tv boss Carel Enkelaar engaged in a gay-attack on DeM.

If he would go ahead with his book this pamphlet would be published. Oltmans - who was well known in The Netherlands, and who had a legal fight with the Dutch government for decades - did finish his book anyway.

Greg, Robert Morrow, and Tommy: I apologize in advance, I know this is looonnnngggg, I know I should be trading insults about images or posting li'l snippets intended to avoid your ire, but it is your choice to stop reading, right here.

Thank you, John Bevilaqua. I am just going in whatever direction the leads I manage to unearth, take me in. When I find linkages, as in this one between DeMohrenschildt's unexamined 1943 "best man" Sten Goddert Wrede and Wrede's affiliations; Russsion Brotherhood for Truth and as an SIS agent and Finnish diplomat, Vonsiatsky needs to be mentioned. I knew you could describe Vonsiatsky's background in greater detail than in his partial FBI file.

Again, as I said early in my last post, I find it curious that the WC investigation went into such depth on the backgrounds of Dorothy Pierson;s parents,, although her father, A. Romeyn Pierson, was dead nearly 15 years by 1964....the only other irrelevant things the WC left out, in detailing the origins of Dorothy Pierson's maternal grandparents were that her mother's father immigrated from the UK, circa 1890, and his wife, Dorothy's grandmother, was the daugher of German immigrants.

Sure....Dorothy's mother's (Cornelia Skinner) folks lived in Gloversville, NY, at the time of Cornelia's birth, but didn't so many who the WC investigators so lightly passed over, have ties to Gloversville? (George Senator, Joe "the wop" Cataldo, and Henry Crown's daughter-in-law, Renee Schine, and her brother and RFK nemesis, G. David Schine, and their dad, the Mickey Cohen "associate" J. Myer Schine, who happened to be the owner of the Ambassador Hotel in LA in 1968.)

And, it's not like WC Asst. Counsel Jenner, (Henry Crown's personal attorney and "mob" defense lawyer for Teamster's Pension fund looter, Allen Dorfman.) didn't broach the "best man" subject with Demohrenschildt....he just didn't happen to ask anything about the actual best man DeMohrenschildt had once chosen, Sten Goddert Wrede:

....Mr. JENNER. Tell me about the Sharples family.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. The Sharples family is from Philadelphia, Philadelphia Quakers. He is in the centrifugal processing business and also in the oil business. And I had dealings with his nephew for many years.

Mr. JENNER. What is his name?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Butler, Samuel Butler, Jr. He runs the oil end of Mr. Sharples' operations. And they had a small interest in Rangely Field. That is how I got acquainted with Mr. Butler.

So we knew about each other before--my wife's father, and so on and so forth--and--the daughter asked his advice, whether she should marry such an adventurous character like me, and the father said, all right---obviously had sufficient good information from Butler about me. Butler was my best man at the wedding.

Mr. JENNER. Best man at your wedding to Miss Sharples?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes; Sam Butler.

There were several ushers. He was one of the ushers. I don't remember who was the best man. My brother was the best man. He was one of ushers. So we got married.

Mr. JENNER. Was the Sharples family wealthy?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Very wealthy.

Mr. JENNER. Socially prominent?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Socially prominent. But not too interested in society, because they are Quakers, you know. But my wife is interested. ....

And, it is not like it was no big deal that Wrede was chosen by Demohrenschildt to be co-best man with brother Dimitri. The wedding announcement image in my last post makes it plain that tge wedding was very private. Dorothy Pierson chose to be unattended for the ceremony, owing, it says, to the illness of her mother.

I doubt that this had anything to do with Dorothy's other circumstances, the fact that she had just turned 18, was pregnant, and was marrying a man more than twice

her age, don't you?

In my last post, there was no source to confirm that Sten Goddert Wrede was "the Baron" who was an SIS agent and headed the Baltic branch of the Russian Brotherhood, "from Berlin", or even to support the notion that this "Baron Wrede" ever lived in Germany. I think it will take examination of records, if they are even available, from the UK gov. archives to glean much more about Sten Goddert Wrede's service to Great Britiain and to the Russian Brotherhood.

When Sten Goddert Wrede visited the US for the first time, in July, 1925, the ship's manifest indicates that he listed his occupation as "Barion", that he was accompanied by his bride of nine days, Alida, who we know to be Alida Fitzgerald, and that the address in New York, NY where they planned to stay was, "476 Riverside Drive."

This is the last reference I can find, save in her father, Augustine Fitzgerald's 1930 Yale Univ. obituary, of "Baroness Alida Wrede."

http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.htm...4DD405B878EF1D3

May 27, 1927,

Granddaughter Is Baroness, Now Living in Germany ...

The article above reports the death of Alida Fitzgerald Wrede's 93 year old grandmother. The 1920 US census shows the elderly Mrs. Fitzgerald to be living with her granddaughter in NYC. The funeral announcement, published three days later the above article, shows the funeral being held at the deceased Mrs. Fitzgerald's home, with the location listed as the same address as listed in the July, 1925 ship's manifest stating Wrede's destination in NYC

THe other things we know about Sten Goddert Wrede is that he applied in NYC for US citizenship, but apparently never received it, because records of his travel to the US, nearly annually from 1946 to 1956, show him to be a citizen of Finland.

On the passenger manifests for two of those post WWII visite to the US, including one in 1948, and in a later one, of six months duration, Wrede listed the place he would be staying as this location in NYC:

THE sidewalk shed at 39 East 79th Street is soft gray with a simple white stripe, like the canopy of a private club on Park Avenue. That's fitting, because the 14-story 1926 building, at the northeast corner of Madison Avenue, was built like a club, a Social Register co-op put up by a small circle of friends from Tuxedo Park, N.Y. -- and headed by Emily Post, the patrician author of books on etiquette....

The only folks who I know of who came from Tuxedo Park, or who attended school there, are relatives of Claibourne Pell, Hale Bogg's wife's family, and

Maude Coster, who entertained Charlene Wrightsman and who was the widow of Morgan partner, Charles Coster, (John Train's grandparents), the parents of Charles Coster Jr., Orange County fox hunt buddy of EA Harriman. Joseph Dryer's wife, Nancy attended school in Tuxedo Park.

I'll post photos of census and ships' and flight manifest records supporting the points above, if there is further interest.....

"...the (Pierson) family was concerned because they felt De Mohrenschildt was sympathetic with the Nazis...."

As it turns out, the FBI and WC not only narrowly focussed their investigative attention (at least what was permitted for inclusion in the WCR) on Dorothy Pierson's long deceased father, instead of on De Mohrenschildt, how he came to be acquainted with Dorothy, who was in their wedding party, who their mutual friends were, i.e., an actual investigation of LHO's "best friend", these government sleuths also missed this:

The FBI reported that De Mohrenschildt told the FBI in 1945 that he happened to be in Palm Beach at the time he met Dorothy, in response to an invitation from a Mr. Kahler of 941 Park Ave., NY, NY, who I've found was Phillips Exeter 1914, a Yale 1918 classmate (a fellow military aviator) of Trubee Davison and Robert Lovett. In 1964, the FBI claimed to have much difficulty in verifying that a Kahler was ever known to reside in Palm Beach. The FBI included a June, 1942, report that Nancy Latimer of Lake Worth, FL, told an FBI agent she was suspicious of the sympathies of one Wood Kahler of Lantana, FL.

It turns out that Kahler was the son of Dallas banker, Harry A. Kahler and his wife, Beulah Pace, later of New York City and Littleton, NH. When finally located and interviewed in 1944, Kahler told the FBI that he still maintained contact with De Mohrenschildt and his wife was in receipt of a recent letter from George.

Both in 1945 during WWII, and in 1964, the FBI also failed to report that Kahler's wife, Olga, was the former wife of Nazi Occupation Parisian Propaganda Chief, Leo Eigner.

Sheesh!!!

Letitia Baldridge's father, H. Malcolm Baldrige, grew up in Nebraska and attended Omaha H.S. before transferring to Phillips Andover Academy. Just as De Mohrenschildt friend, Woodland Kahler, H. Malcolm Baldrige was a 1914 graduate of Phillips Andover and a 1918 Yale graduate. Both Kahler and Baldrige departed Yale in late 1917 for WWI military service, as well as classmates Trubee Davison and Robert Lovett. Baldrige, Davison, and Lovett were tapped for Skull and Bones in April, 1917.

Prescott Bush,

the Union Banking Corporation

and The Story

by Kris Millegan

Based on Chapter 17 of Fleshing Out Skull & Bones

....There was no coverage of the Herald-Tribune article’s information on the Thyssen/Union Banking Corporation connection in the national news weeklies, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal or even the New York Daily Worker. The afternoon daily, Hearst-owned Journal-American’s article was basically a condensed re-hash of the earlier Herald Tribune articles.

The next known mention of the Union Banking Corporation in the news was the cryptic one sentence in the December 16, 1944 New York Times* financial pages saying that:

The Union Banking Corporation, 39 Broadway, New York, has received authority to change its principal place of business to 120 Broadway.

The real story continued to be suppressed. No reportage that the corporation was taken over by the US Government under the Trading with the Enemy Act in the fall of 1942, nor that the address to where Union Banking Corporation was moved was the Office of the Alien Property Custodian.

Maybe that power to suppress, to fabricate, to deny everything and to explain nothing was why Prescott was so blasÄ and felt no need to hide from his peers his directorship in a company that had already been reported by the New York press to be holding $3 million dollars in Nazi funds, prior to him putting the “bite” on classmates as the National Chairman in Charge of the 1942 Fund Drive for the USO.

The next mention of Thyssen in the news were reviews in newspapers, and in magazines, such as Time, Newsweek and Nation, for the book, I Paid for Hitler, by Fritz Thyssen. In Bonesman Henry Luce’s Time magazine October 13, 1941 it was reported that a co-writer, Emery Reeves a journalist, who in April of 1940 met with Thyssen in Paris and persuaded Thyssen to go to Monte Carlo with Reeves, “a collaborator and a secretary.” Where Thyssen would “dictate three solid hours every day, then revised and approved the copy.”

In late May 1940. Reeves went “to Paris to check some names and dates.” As the Germans were also on their way to Paris. Reeves left France for Britain on a British destroyer. “He never saw or heard from Thyssen again. After more than a year, it seemed obvious that Thyssen was a captive; for if he were free, he would have communicated with his family in South America. Alive or dead, he was Reeves decided, beyond the power of the book to hurt or help. So Reeves decided to publish.”

The book has Thyssen pounding his head and muttering “‘Ein Dummkopf war ich!’ (What a dumbhead I was’)” and reports about Thyssen’s financial assistance to Hitler prior to the Beer Hall Putsch of 1923. The Thyssen role in financing Hitler is covered extensively in other chapters, so we will not recount that history here. A new revelation in the book was the novel conspiracy theory that Adolph Hitler was the illegitimate son of Baron Rothschild. I Paid for Hitler was published in New York, by Farrar & Rinehart. Chairman of the Board of Farrar & Rinehart was John Chipman Farrar a member of the 1918 cell of the Order of Skull & Bones. The class that had been tapped by Prescott’s Bones cell. The 1918 Bones cell included US Congressman Malcolm Baldridge, CIA personnel Director F. Trubee Davison, mega-businessman Artemus Gates and the then, in 1941, Asst. Secretary of War and Brown Brothers Harriman partner Robert A Lovett. They had all been part of the famous Palm Beach, Florida, Yale WW I flying unit.

John C Farrar during WW II was a member of the Psychological Warfare Branch in the Office of War Information and was an editor for some of the OWI propaganda publications.

After the war, Thyssen “denied authorship” of I Paid for Hitler. Was there more to the book than met the eye? Was I Paid for Hitler created to confuse and possibly rehabilitate certain individuals and diffuse and confuse situations in the war-charged American atmosphere of the early 1940s? Similar to Bonesman Luce’s Life magazine reversing the Zapruder film frame of the JFK murder so as to accommodate the physics of the official story of that action.

You have got to be willing to do a lot of things furtively and secretly, to bring about a situation that will accomplish what you want to have accomplished. Prescott Bush, speaking about the intelligence services in his oral history, done by Columbia University.

Prescott definitely understood this and it seems as though he and Brown Brothers Harriman were trying to keep the scandal in the dark before some newshound broke the soon to be squashed news because in the July 31, 1941, New York Herald-Tribune it says that seven months before, in January of 1941, Brown Brothers Harriman partner and Bonesman, Knight Wooley had written to the NY State Banking Board Superintendent that “hould the United States enter the war, they [the Union Banking Corporation American directors] felt they might be under some embarrassment, .”

Kept in the dark it was and Prescott won a special election in 1952, after the death of a sitting Senator, to serve as a US Senator from Connecticut. General Dwight Eisenhower, whom Prescott in November of 1951, had urged to run for the Republican party nomination for President of the US was also elected. Prescott golfed with President Eisenhower often, and spent a half-hour alone with him on Ike’s last day as President.

Senator Bush served on the Banking Committee, many times as a contact person for World Bank and Federal Reserve officials, who sometimes looked for more casual places to do business than the Senate committee rooms. In his second term protecting his state’s interests Prescott also served as a member of the Armed Service Committee. For years Connecticut had received more per capita of the defense dollar than any other state earning itself the sobriquet, the “Arsenal of Democracy.” That the Military-Industrial Complex began in Connecticut in the 1800s is relevant but another tale.....

Baldrige's son Malcolm, Jr., Letitia's brother, was also a member of the same 1944 Yale class as the members of Nancy Bush's wedding party, all classmates of her spouse, Alexander Ellis.... Macomber, Jr., James Buckley, John and David Lindsay, John Chafee.... Appointed by Reagan in late 1980 as Commerce secretary, Baldrige, Jr. died while still serving in that position when a horse fell on him in a rodeo mishap in 1987.

Letitia Baldrige's brother, Malcolm, Jr. succeeded members of the Goss family at Scovill Mfg. This the obituary of Porter Goss's uncle. Porter's father, Richard W. Goss is mentioned near the bottom.:

This may have been asked before. Has anyone ever asked Bush Sr. what he knew about George de Mohrenschildt ? Like

How long did you know him?

When did you first meet him?

If you knew him in 1963 did he talk about Lee Harvey Oswald?

When was the last time you spoke to him in person?

Do you know if George de Mohrenschildt had any ties to any intelligence agencies?

Thomas J. Devine (born December 9, 1926) in Rochester, New York, a 1949 B.S. M.I.T. graduate[1], worked for the CIA, and was an oil-wildcatting associate of George H. W. Bush. Devine helped Bush found Zapata Offshore in 1953 and he was an unnofficial foreign affairs advisor to Representative Bush in the 1960s. He accompanied Bush on a trip to Vietnam from 26 December 1967-11 January 1968, for which he was issued an interim top-secret clearance by the US Department of Defense. [2]

Devine married Alexandra Mills of Hobe Sound, FL, in April, 1973. William B. Macomber, Jr., best man in the 1946 wedding of Nancy Walker Bush Ellis, was Devine's best man.[3] Macomber's brother, Celanese Corporation president, John D. Macomber, appointed Devine as a vice president (1973).[4] [5] John D. Macomber is the longtime mentor and business associate of Michael L. Ainslie[6], second husband[7] of Suzanne B. Hooker, daughter of Edward Gordon Hooker[8], the deceased school roommate of George HW Bush and step-nephew and oil exploration business partner[9] George de Mohrenschildt#Later life and death of George de Mohrenschildt, a petroleum geologist and Professor who befriended Lee Harvey Oswald in the summer of 1962 and maintained that friendship until Oswald's death two days after the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

Devine's friendship and "close relationship" with Bush Sr. continued as Bush was first made US Ambassador to the United Nations (from 1971-1973), then nominated as Director of the CIA (November 1975).[10]

Devine first left the CIA in 1953 to go into business. He later rejoined the CIA under non-official cover (NOC) status on 12 June 1963, as a covert commercial asset for Project WUBRINY/LPDICTUM.

When Zapata Oil was sold, Devine joined the investment firm of Train, Cabot and Associates in New York City. He had no operational involvement in the CIA from 1968 through November 1975.[11]

Gale Allen, the CIA's Director of Operations, wrote that Devine was the "most discreet and security conscious business contact" he had ever met.[12]

I imagine I'll be waiting quite a long time for a reply to this from Bush nephew, John Ellis, but, hey, he postured as if he is approachable and sincere.

After I sent the email displayed below, I discovered even more information linking Macomber, Jr.'s brother, John, to the advertising agency Byfield, Jr. was a V.P. at.: http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=14879&view=findpost&p=243975 The Ellington Agency's largest account was Celanese Corp., a Corp. founded by a member of the King Ranch family and with longtime relations with its future CEO, John D. Macomber when he was a McKinsey & Co. employee for 19 years. William J. Casey wrote of his intimate knowledge of the top secret Sussex operation in which both Byfield, Jr. and Macomber's brother, William, were assigned by OSS.

Kennedy Quits His Campaign For Governor

By SARA RIMER

Published: August 29, 1997

....Mr. Kennedy, who had been laying the groundwork for a race for governor for several years, had raised nearly $2 million for the campaign.

At his party's state issues convention in June, he had apologized for his brother Michael's conduct, as well as for mistakes in his first marriage.

John Ellis, a columnist for The Boston Globe, wrote in May that Mr. Kennedy, who is known as a devoted father as well as big brother and uncle, would best take care of his family by not running for governor.

''Not running for governor would significantly diminish the gales that threaten to tear the lives of many Kennedy family members asunder,'' Mr. Ellis wrote.

Mr. Ellis, a roommate of Mr. Kennedy at Milton Academy, said today, ''If he did it for the right reasons, it speaks volumes about his character.''

''The thing about it is that he's a Kennedy,'' he added. ''The assumption is that he will run. He will run come hell or high water, no matter what. The fact of the matter is that it's a bad time for him to run. His brother's in terrible shape. His kids are adversely affected by the divorce anyway. All of that would be exacerbated by the campaign.''

I am hoping you are willing to comment or work with me to better explain to the American public why the following details are or are not as controversial and intriguing as they appear, on the surface, to be. If nothing else is achieved in my communication to you, at least I will know that you have been exposed to this information, and as a political reporter and commentator, you can compare your reaction to what your reaction would be if no members or your family were involved in this line of research.

MISS NANCY BUSH BECOMES A BRIDE; She Is Attended by Nine at...

New York Times - Oct 27, 1946

St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in near-by Glenville was the scene today of the marriage of Miss Nancy Bush, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prescott Sheldon Bush

Alexander Ellis, Jr.'s best man, William B. Macomber, Jr., was also the best man in the 1973 wedding of GHW Bush's business partner and Vietnam tour escort, the former CIA agent, Thomas J. Devine. Devine was hired by Macomber's brother, John D. Macomber, in 1973 as V.P. and Comptroller of Celanese Corp. Robert G. Stone, Jr. appointed Thomas J. Devine to the board of directors of Stonetex Corp.

Ellis, William Macomber, and Ellis's wedding usher, David Lindsay were all members of the 1943 Yale varsity football team. Lindsay's twin brother, John was also an usher, as was James Buckley, the brother of William F. Buckley. Another usher, John Chafee, later claimed to be a close friend of William Macomber, and the Yale roommate of Charles Whitehouse.

Macomber, Jr., William F. Buckley, Devine, and Whitehouse all trained as CIA agents.

William Macomber in 1944 was a USMC Lieutenant and member of the OSS, training in Britain in the secret, Sussex operation. Macomber was dropped by parachute on 1 Sept., 1944, behind enemy lines in France on a mission as a weapons training officer of French Maquis resistance fighters. According to David K.A. Bruce, US Army Capt. Ernest L. Byfield, Jr., was an OSS operation Sussex training officer. the OSS component of Sussex was called Ossex and consisted of less than 25 infiltration teams of under 100 men in the total Ossex program. Sussex was under the commnd of OSS Lt. Col. Francis Perkins Miller.(1)

As U.S. president, GHW Bush appointed William H.G. Fitzgerald as U.S. Ambasador to Ireland. Ernest L. byfield, Jr., also happened to be William H.G. Fitzgerald's best man.(3) Fitzgerald's usher Oliver W. Hammonds became a co-director of John Alston "Jack" Chrichton.(4) in Arabian Shield Development Corp.

Fitzgerald's son, Desmond, married Helen "Muffie" Stone, daughter of Robert G. Stone, Jr. and granddaughter of Godfrey S. Rockefeller.(5)

William H.G. Fitzgerald's obituary described him as "the senior member of the Order of Malta in the United States.(6) Americares founder Robert Macauley and close Bush family friend(7) was immersed in the Order of Malta, along with many of his business associates..(7a) The brother of the twin Lindsay, Bush ellis wedding ushers was George N. Lindsay, a career long partner at Francis Plimpton's law firm, Plimpton Debevoise. Eli Whitney Debevoise was a member of Skull & Bones and served as assistant to HICOG, John McCloy. Thomas J. Devine's father-in-law, Samuel Wynn Mills was also Skull & Bones and Will Farish III's young father was an usher in Mills's 1937 wedding.

Francis Plimpton was implicated in 1967 as a board member of a CIA cash distribution front, chaired by Houghton of the Met. Museum of Art.(9) Robert G, Stone's brother, David was implicated in a Boston based component of the same CIA operation..(10) .(10a) William B. Macomber, Jr., with no relevant experience, was hired as Met. Museum president just after Houghton ended an active role as Met. Museum chairman.

Although a career State Dept. ranking manager in 1971, William B. Macomber, Jr. is described in news reporting and in released Nixon white house memoes as agreeing to aid in smearing Daniel Ellsberg as an agent of "the new left" and folowing a white house aid's request to provide E. Howard Hunt with access to 240 diplomatic cables, some of them classified as secret. wthout verifying then white house employee, Hunt's level of security clearance. Hunt admitted to forging two of the cables to accomplish a white house assigned task of implicating JFK and RFK in the 1963 assassinations of Vietnamese leader Diem and his brother.

Allen Quasha with investment support of the Harvard investment influence of Robert G. Stone, Jr. changed the then bleak prospects of the oil exploration business of George W. Bush. Through Jonathan Bush, Russell Reynolds also invested in Harken. The Quasha and the Reynolds families had a long and mutual friendship with Frank. A. Vanderlip, Jr..(11).(12), son of the former National City Bank president. In 1989, Robert G. Stone, Jr. was invited to jon the RS Reynolds board of directors. .(13).(14).(15)

In 1970, Ernest L. Byfield, Jr.'s first wife, Russian noblewoman Valentine "Vala" Osterman, died. It was revealed that her sister Nina was married to the first cousin of Susan Hooker Braga's father-in-law, B. Rionda Braga.(16).(17) In 1973, GHW Bush escorted Susan Hooker, daughter of bush's late roommate, Edward G. Hooker, as she wed the son of B. Rionda Braga..(18)

What are the odds that the mother of Ernest L. Byfield, Jr., Gladys Tartiere was the owner of the Glen Ora estate leased to JFK as the weekend white house, that Byfield was the decade long employer of Patrick H. Hoy, mob liason.(20) of Henry Crown and Conrad Hilton, and that Byfield and Hoy were in daily contact with Irv Kupcinet who wrote a Chicago newspaper column with the assistance of life long Jack Ruby friend, Jimmy Colitz?.(21) Kupcinet's closes friend was mob attorney Sidney Korshak.(22)

In 1990, John Shepardson, son of Whitney Shepardson, wrote a letter to the editor, describing his father's association with the OSS Lt. Col. Miller who had commanded Macomber, Jr. and Byfield, Jr. in the Sussex Operation.

British Aid Figured in Roosevelt Election

Published: September 17, 1990

To Sir Philip's story, a significant ingredient, United States politics, should be added. Francis P. Miller's ''Man From the Valley,'' a memoir published in 1971, tells of a Century Group (of which my father, Whitney H. Shepardson, was a member) that had its inception on June 10, 1940, when the group publicly asked for a declaration of war by the United States upon Nazi Germany.

John W. Shepardson was an usher in the wedding of Cynthia Bemiss and William A. "Sandy" Stuart. Cynthia Bemiss was the sister of close GHW Bush friend, Fitzgerald Bemiss.

During nearly a year ending in early 1963, George De Mohrenschildt was descibed as the best friend of lee Harvey Oswald. Not only was GHW Bush school roommate,Edward Gordon Hooker, the step nephew of De Mohrenschildt and acquainted with Bush, himself, but De Mohrenschildt became a business partner of Hooker's, and Bush friend, Robert G. Stone, Jr. fellow Stonetex director, close friend of Macomber, Jr. and John D. Macomber, THOMAS J. DEVINE also meet with De Mohrenschildt in New York city n behalf of the CIA in May, 1963, so did William HG Fitzgerald, John D. Macomber, and Brent Scowcroft, Atlantic Council associate, James R. Green.

De Mohrenschildt also happened to be so close to Gordon Kichel, also a friend of GHW Bush, that Kichel twice drove long distance to meet and transport De Mohrenschildt and his family on their retuurn from foreign travels.(.23)

Even more curious, the document displayed below .(24) indicates that William B. macomber, Jr. was monitoring Lee Harvey Oswald as early as in late 1960.

John Alston Crichton, mentioned above, who was later a business partner of William H.G. Fitzgerald wedding usher, Oliver W. Hammonds, produced a Russian interpreter to question Marina Oswald almost immediately after Lee Harvey Oswald's arrest on 22 Nov., 1963.

Otto Otepka, Robert F. Kennedy, Walter Sheridan, and Lee Oswald

by Joan Mellen, 4 Sep 2007

Oswald’s file was marked #39-61981. Sitting as it did in the Central File Room of the Office of Security, the “39” denoting an “Intelligence File,” the Oswald material raised questions. As the months passed, more questions surfaced. Otepka examined Oswald’s return from the Soviet Union with the unlikely assistance of a State Department loan. Otepka also pondered the speed with which Oswald’s wife, Marina, was cleared for entrance into the United States. By 1963, Otepka would be wondering why Oswald was issued a passport for travel to Cuba and, seemingly, the Soviet Union, despite a possible “criminal” flag in Oswald’s ONI [Office of Naval Intelligence] file. It was at this time that Otepka’s security safe was burgled and his Oswald file disappeared for good.

In closing, Mr. Ellis, I believe your affiliation with major media outlet, so soon after your uncle was no longer DCI, is at least in some small way a contributing factor in the distrubing connections I was able to make and document, above, even after the passage of so many years. Are you even interested in looking into why your father and uncle George were so involved with so many former and current OSS and CIA employees, and how so few men could have so many never adequately explained ties to George DeMohrenschildt, and in the case of Macomber, Jr., such an early awareness of Lee Harvey Oswald.

Even without his ties to William H.G. Fitzgerald and to the secret unit he and Macomber, Jr. and Francis P. Miller served with, I hope you would agree that the background of Ernest L. Byfield, Jr. is startling. His second widow ends up married to Robert S. McNamara, the man responsible for awarding the most expensive military contract, TFX, to the Henry Crown controlled General Dynamics Corp. in 1962. Byfield's close associate, Patrick Hoy, was hired from Byfield's Sherman Hotel group in 1960 by Henry Crown as a General Dynamics, V.P., while FBI archived documents show he continued to serve the interests of organized crime, especially of Gus Alex, until Hoy's arrest and conviction on bank fraud in 1970.

Multiply your own experience of opportunity working in major media, with the media hires described in this article, and maybe you will understand why I have slim expectations of the interest or cooperation I expect to read in your reply. ....

I hold out the hope that you will respond at least as cooperatively as you did in 1997 when you were asked to comment on the family problems of Joe Kennedy.

Sincerely,

Is it only a coincidence that CIA's Anikeeff arranged for de Mohrenschildt and Clemard Joseph Charles to meet with Clairborne Pell, a cousin of CIA "asset" Tom Devine's (aka Wubriny-1) financial firm partner, John Train? Claiborne Pell and Train were also cousins of the wife of one of the seven WC commissioners, Hale Boggs.

So how do you think Claiborne Pell fits into this entire JFK conundrum? Was he a deliberate and witting participant in the cover-up

or was he somehow involved in joining in with the likes of J. Strom Thurmond, John Tower, Barry Goldwater, Jesse Helms, James Eastland, et al in the actual plot to kill JFK? You are obviously implying that Senator Pell was involved somehow in this entire plot

in some sort of nefarious, fully complicit and/or conspiratorial manner. Would you care to elaborate? This should be rich if you have

the guts to respond. How does Pell's wife's relationship to Hale Boggs figure into this entire picture? Are you implying that she used

her influence to get Boggs to do something illegal or immoral or unethical or that her familial relationship to a member of the Warren

Commission somehow taints her with guilt by association? Tom, you are stooping pretty low here, I hope you realize this. Do you know how close the Pells were (and still are) to the Kennedys and how physically and emotionally distraught they were about his death? Do you know about the Bouvier and the Auchincloss families from Rhode Island and how close Jackie was to George deMohrenshildt as a child? She used to call him "Uncle George", in fact while bouncing on his knee in Newport. Can you be totally oblivious to how preposterous your statements and your implied claims actually are? Do you know how distraught George was about how how his association with Oswald made him look like an insensitive, callous and vindictive agent contributing indirectly or directly to the misery and suffering of Jackie Kennedy? And you call this "research?" I call this clueless, feckless, careless and callous beyond belief. You gotta get out of the house more, dude.

I thought it might be worth starting a thread on Ivar Bryce. There is virtually nothing on the web about this figure who was closely involved with the CIA and Operation Mockingbird.

The best source on Bryce I have found is in Andrew Lycett's biography Ian Fleming. Bryce was a close friend of Fleming. They met as children and both went to Eton.........

.......According to the New York Times obituary of Josephine Hartford, Ivar Bryce died in 1985.

Josephine Hartford Bryce, 88, Philanthropist and Sportswoman

By ERIC PACE

Published: June 10, 1992

Josephine Hartford Bryce, a philanthropist, sportswoman and musician, died on Monday at her home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She was 88 years old.

She had been bedridden and in declining health for six months, but the exact cause of her death was unclear, said her son-in-law, Senator Claiborne Pell, the Rhode Island Democrat.

Mrs. Bryce was a granddaughter of George Huntington Hartford, the founder of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, and she was a longtime trustee of the John A. Hartford Foundation, which donates money for medical research. Active in Horse Racing

She was active in horse racing for decades, and numerous horses that she owned raced at Saratoga, Belmont and Aquaduct in the United States and also in Britain. Her racing colors were red and orange, and she owned Mill River Stable in South Arlington, Vt., and had a horse-breeding establishment at Moyns Park in Essex County north of London. Her best-known horses included Miss Grillo, the winner of the Pimlico Cup in 1948, and Chop Chop, a leading sire in Canada.

She was also the owner of the Vamarie, a two-masted trans-Atlantic sailing yacht that won races before she presented it to the United States Naval Academy. She was also an early airplane pilot and a tournament tennis player.

Mrs. Bryce was a cosmopolitan figure. She was the daughter of Princess Guido Pignatelli and Edward V. Hartford, who was an inventor and president of the Hartford Shock Absorber Company. She attended schools in New York and in Paris, where she also studied piano under Isador Philippe. She went on to become a concert pianist.

Her marriage in 1923 to Charles Oliver O'Donnell ended in divorce, as did her marriage in 1931 to Vadim Makaroff and her marriage in 1936 to Barclay K. Douglas. She was married in 1950 to John F. C. Bryce. He died in 1985.

Mrs. Bryce is survived by a brother, Huntington Hartford 2d of Manhattan; a daughter, Nuala O'Donnell Pell of Newport, R.I. and Washington; a son, Columbus O'Donnell of London; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Letitia Baldrige dies at 86; ‘doyenne of decorum’ was social secretary to first lady Jacqueline Kennedy

By Emily Langer, Published: October 30

Letitia Baldrige, who was social secretary to first lady Jacqueline Kennedy and also became known as a “doyenne of decorum” and chief arbiter of good manners in modern America, died Oct. 29 at the Sunrise at Fox Hill nursing facility in Bethesda. She was 86.

She had severe osteoarthritis with cardiac complications, said Mary M. Mitchell, a collaborator of hers.

In an 1978 profile, Time magazine described Ms. Baldrige as a “superbly energetic amalgam of feminist and Tasteful Lady.” Decades before women talked about “having it all,” and at a time when many of her female colleagues were afforded few professional opportunities, she embarked on a career that went from diplomacy to the White House to the top levels of business.......

Some background:

........................................

........................................

http://alindalewris....redibility.html

The Kennedy brothers invited their obsessively tightly knit, well organized, focused, and secretive core opposition, close enough in to allow a reasonable suspicion that the brothers cluelessness emboldened this group to wipe JFK out and then proceed to eliminate all organized resistance to their agenda of destruction.

On Wednesday, 23 October 1963, Allen Dulles was making plans for his Oct 25-29 trip to Houston, Ft. Worth and Dallas. His telephone call diaries reveal he spoke to a Mr. Meyer and a Mr. Wisner on Oct. 23, 1963. No details about these conversation appear in the diaries.

While in Texas, Dulles was promoting his new book, The Craft of Intelligence. He gave an address to the Houston Post Book and Author Luncheon on Sat. Oct. 26. On Sunday, he gave an address to the Friends of Ft. Worth Library. On Monday, Oct. 28, he addressed the Dallas Council on world Affairs, then visited Dallas book stores. He return to Washington on Tues, Oct. 29, 1963.

Cheers

Every now and then I still stumble across something that that makes me go Huh?  Most times it's ignorance, my lack of deeper knowledge of a subject.

I've read somewhere that Dulles was in Dallas a month or so before the assassination promoting his book.  That this was unusual in that he visited very few cities promoting his book (a half dozen?) and that he had been to Texas never or once or twice in his life.

Now it turns out he was in Texas less than a month before the assassination and that he visited three of the cities JFK did on 11/22.

What the hell was the erudite East Coast Establishment former director of the CIA fired by JFK doing in Cowtown promoting his book to the Friends of the Fort Worth Library?  Other than the Basses, Richardson, Carters and a few other oil millionaires who would buy his book?  Not many with privileges at the library would even read it if given to them.

Did the Fort Wroth Star Telegram report on his visit?

Did Dulles visit with his former subordinate General Cabell also fired by JFK or his brother the Mayor while in Dallas?

Though I don't remember when he was there God Bless former Star Telegram reporter Jim Marrs for carrying on.
