Chuck. who actually wrote the post at 16, and are there any footnotes to it?

If not, where did the info come from?

I just read the cab driver's (William Whaley's) statement. It is a lot more convincing than the bus driver's and teenaged rider's testimonies. (Sorry... I have a hard time remembering names.) He dropped off who he thought was Oswald just a few blocks from Oswald's apartment. In a city the size of Dallas, that would be quite a coincidence if his fare hadn't been Oswald.

The curious thing is that Oswald got out of the cab five blocks AFTER the cab passed his apartment. And after Oswald got out of the cab, he walked in a direction opposite of where he would walk if he were walking home. See it here in this diagram:

https://nebula.wsimg.com/ab4076b486fcf6b41f684c25be39ab48?AccessKeyId=9CD8649F35FCA7653E81&disposition=0&alloworigin=1

Why would Oswald do that? My guess is that he didn't want the cab driver to know where he lived. He was behaving the way spooks do.

Let us remember that a police car stopped and honked outside Oswald's boarding house right around 1:00. The timeline in the drawing supports that.

So maybe the guy who got into the Rambler really wasn't Oswald, but looked a lot like him. (Remember, some of his acquaintances identified that man as Oswald.)

And maybe the guy who got in the Nash Rambler, who looked quite a bit like the guy shot by Jack Ruby, was the same guy who murdered J.D. Tippit and led cops to the Texas Theater and was briefly detained in the balcony of the theater prompting those DPD reports of "Oswald" being arrested in the balcony. Maybe it was the same guy who had been impersonating "Lee Harvey Oswald" at the Sports Dome Rifle Range and other places all around Dallas in the weeks preceding the murder of JFK.

The evidence for the Nash Rambler ride is strong. So is the evidence for the bus and taxi ride. As I said before, Fritz's notes indicate "Oswald" himself said he rode the bus and taxi.

For more evidence about just how strong the evidence is for the Nash Rambler AND the bus and taxi ride, see http://harveyandlee.net/Leaving/Leaving_the_TSBD.html.

To see the original write-up that prompted this thread, see http://harveyandlee.net/November/November_22.htm.

For half a century, many have been suspicious of Dallas Police activities surrounding the assassination of JFK. I believe that for the first time ever, we can name the officers involved: Capt. W.R. Westbrook (who would soon travel to Vietnam and become an adviser to Saigon police) and Reserve Officer Kenneth Croy. (Roscoe White was probably also involved, but his activities on 11/22/63 are largely unknown and he is outside the scope of the November 22 article.)

Referring to the Larsen-Hargrove post just above and the diagram in Larsen's link: What if the TSBD Oswald never did a turnabout and walk back to the N. Beckley rooming house? What if he feinted walking east (toward what he didn't know would be the Tippit shooting site) because he didn't want the cab driver to know that he would next turn and walk west to the Texas Theater?

This would allow the second Oswald to show up at the N. Beckley house, get the pistol (or pretend to) and the white jacket, and walk in the direction of 10th and Patton.

There are variables involved, of course. How would the TSBD Oswald have changed from grey work pants to darker pants? Did the TSBD Oswald acquire a pistol from a man (Jack Ruby?) in Dealey Plaza, as Victoria Adams' acquaintances described?

Yeah, I know - Colonel Mustard in the library with a candlestick...

An interesting possible correspondence from the John Armstrong article that prompted this thread:

If the TSBD Oswald was first observed sitting next to a pregnant woman in the Texas Theater, could it be because he did make contact with a woman on the McWatters bus, as the article posits?

In the dark, Oswald might have mistaken the two, and not noticed that the second woman was pregnant when he sat down.

The woman on the bus may have told him that his contact at the theater would be her, or would be someone else if she failed to show up - prompting Oswald to next approach men in the audience.

Just to add some additional info to these scenarios:

Per John Martino (from Larry Hancock's EXCELLENT "Someone Would Have Talked")

Oswald was part of the plan, but not a shooter and was supposed to meet an exile contact at the Texas Theater. Oswald's understanding was that he was being taken out of the country. However, the actual plan was to kill him -- apparently outside the country, and very possibly in a location and fashion that would tie him to Cuba and Castro. The killing of Tippit was definitely not part of the plan and indeed aborted the contact. One of the shooters was actually waiting in the Texas Theater to contact Oswald and was released by the police after Oswald's arrest.

Tom, I did not write that piece. I got it off the internet by googling JFK and WR Westbrook. There is a thread on this website called 488 Military intelligence..Here are some snapshots..

Hello Chuck,

I've been offline for a couple of days, so I just read your response.

Thanks for all the additional info!

Hi, Tom,

I see Chuck Schwartz has elaborated above on his earlier post about Captain Westbrook, and that may require some study. In the meantime, since I already decided to post this ....

Hello Jim,

I've been offline for a couple of days so I just read this.

Thanks for all the additional info!

I remember that from SWHT - but Armstrong's research on the activities of Capt. Westbrook and reserve officer Kroy of DPD is compelling, given that the two were involved in the well-witnessed "discovery" of an Oswald wallet at the Tippit scene. If the wallet was a plant, how accidental was the Tippit killing?

The counterargument might be that the Tippit meeting was accidental, but the killing was ordered by Westbrook to resolve it, and frame Oswald. Yet Tippit's observed actions before his killing - rushing around as if pursuing someone - make the meeting seem a bit less accidental.

The Westbrook-Kroy involvement is worth further investigation even if one doesn't accept a second Oswald

To untangle the legend of “Lee Harvey Oswald” on November 22, 1963, you really have to untangle the legend dating back at least a decade earlier. For just a few examples….

In 1953 two “Lee Harvey Oswalds” simultaneously attended Beauregard Junior High School in New Orleans and Public School 44 in New York City. J. Edgar Hoover and Alan Dulles missed the conflicting records, and they are published in the Warren volumes. (Within hours after the assassination, the FBI was confiscating most of the school and teen-age employment records of “Lee Harvey Oswald,” because Hoover was aware of the “Oswald Project.”)

John Pic (Oswald’s half brother) told the Warren Commission that some photographs of “Lee Harvey Oswald” were accurate, while he didn’t recognize the “Oswald” in two others pictures, including the famous FPCC charade in New Orleans.

While one “Lee Harvey Oswald” was being treated for VD in Japan, another “Lee Harvey Oswald” was en route and stationed in Taiwan.

When the one “Lee Harvey Oswald” we all think we know was in Russia, another was involved in all kinds of things here, including the well-documented Bolton Ford incident, working with anti-Castro Cubans in Miami and the Everglades, even filling out forms and taking tests at the Texas Employment Commission.

The “Lee Harvey Oswald” we think we know didn’t have a car and couldn’t drive, but the other had a valid Texas driver’s license.

In the weeks prior to the assassination of JFK, while “Lee Harvey Oswald” was working at the Book Depository, another “Lee Harvey Oswald” was traveling around the Dallas area setting up his counterpart as the patsy for the JFK hit. These activities are well known: numerous appearances at the Sports Drome Rifle Range, the Downtown Lincoln Mercury dealership, Morgan’s Gun Shop, Dial Ryder’s gun shop, the Southland Building, hitchhiking with “curtain rods” with Ralph Yates, and so on.

So….

Right after the assassination of JFK, someone who looked like “Lee Harvey Oswald” shot and killed J.D. Tippit near 10th and Patton, while the fellow we know today as “Lee Harvey Oswald” was already sitting in the Texas Theater.

There were two “Lee Harvey Oswalds” active on November 22, 1963, but he original “Oswald Project” was created at least a decade earlier to give a Russian speaking youth (Harvey Oswald) an American identity and the birth certificate of American-born Lee Harvey Oswald (Lee Oswald). With that feat accomplished, Russian-speaking Harvey could be sent to Russia as a spy who secretly understood Russian. And that’s exactly what happened.

In the summer of 1963, the “Oswald Project” got entangled in the plot to assassinate JFK, which was a U.S. intelligence operation from start to finish. Lee framed Harvey for the hit. His final act was shooting J.D. Tippit and leading cops to the Texas Theater, where Harvey, as instructed, was already waiting.

Great overview Jim. I would love to see more posts like this. Someday- after I am retired- I will read Harvey and Lee again and take notes. It is simply way too much to digest and remember from one reading. I am in fact taking a break in general from reading books on this case, or in this instance re-reading.

I really think John has SOLVED the Tippit murder. Before this stuff got posted he called me and told me about all of his new research but I was getting lost in the details. Since the days before the 50th anniversary he has really gone full throttle into this case.

David,

I heartily agree. Just thought I would throw Martino into the mix for anyone who was unaware.

Lots of possible scenarios. e.g. Tippit was part of it, and refused to accomplish his assignment, etc, etc...

Jim - I'm sure you've done this before, but could you provide a link to LHO's Texas drivers license?
