Paul Brancato
Jim - there is a Leonard Bernstein thread on this forum. The occasion was a new edition of Grove’s musical dictionary, it took place on or around Nov. 22, 1980. He asked for two minutes of silence, from an audience that was there for an entirely different purpose, in memory of JFK, and as you will see from reading the other posts in the thread it wasn’t the first time he had been so bold. James DiEugenio
I was not aware of that at all. He did that in 1980? Good.
Rob Couteau
I do recall reading somewhere many years ago that Leonard Bernstein was at some swank affair when he mentioned in passing the assassination and how it was obviously a conspiracy and he was immediately insulted and berated by those around him. I believe that was sometime in the Sixties.
