I really do not like Rich Lowery or National Review.

But i have to agree with him on this. Its  a slippery slope of navigation.  Is this part of the Cass Sustein movement?

I mean we have run a negative article on Alex Jones.  He is pretty bad on the JFK case, as he is on quite  a few things.

But so what?  That is not the point.  The point is the first amendment.  Facebook, You Tube and Apple seem to me to be violating it.

Am i missing  something here?  Is there something worse he has done?  I am aware of his accusation about Charlottesville.  But what else?

Do I have a first amendment right to publish my work on kennedysandking.com?  Of course not...

Facebook et al are non-government entities that don't want to be associated with white supremacist content.

Twitter is holding out.   I like that guy.

I think the reason is the lawsuits that Jones is involved in e g Sandy Hook.

“If there is any principle of the Constitution that more imperatively calls for attachment than any other it is the principle of free thought -- not free thought for those who agree with us but freedom for the thought that we hate.”

Exactly. Amendments to our constitution restrict only government egress. Private companies can do what they want.

Trump has discovered a new effective means of limiting freedom of speech:

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/09/us/politics/newsprint-tariffs-newspapers-trump.html

From the article: The Trump administration’s decision to impose tariffs on Canadian newsprint is hastening the demise of local newspapers across the country, forcing already-struggling publications to cut staff, reduce the number of days they print and, in at least one case, shutter entirely.

I have never thought that Kennedys and king.com was an open source type field of play.

Its more like a magazine.

That is not the case with You Tube, or FB.

As Josh Marshall noted, the problem is that the people who regulate the web, government proxies, have allowed a very few companies to control a very large share of  what has become the public square of debate.  In fact, well over half the public gets their news from Google and FB.

Marshall then said, what will be really disturbing is if and when the ISP provider for Jones decides not to carry him.

To me, I look at this as an extension of this:

https://consortiumnews.com/2016/11/20/nyt-advocates-internet-censorship/

Which I see beginning way back then with this:

https://kennedysandking.com/reviews/the-illusion-of-michael-shermer

We should all be like sentinels on this issue. The Internet is the last bastion we have of free speech in this country.  With very rare exceptions, everything else is controlled.  And its gotten worse with cable TV, not better.

If the web goes dark, bye bye.

MC: We are next...

Remember the last scene of the film of Fahrenheit 451?

Still has nothing to do with the 1st Amendment.

Somehow I doubt Jim would be bothered if YT and FB had blocked McAdams.

Some how I dount DiEugenio would care

Len that is just a sucker punch. You could have asked Jim. And I am pretty sure that you are wrong about that.

While I am not very knowledgeable about the Mcadams case, I believe Jim was taking the view that Mcadams used his senior position to threaten and intimidate a graduate assistant. If so, there was a fair case made against Mcadams, even if they ultimately lost.

I am not sure, due to not having dug deeply into the matter, that there really was a good case against Mcadams. From my understanding, academia is no walk in the park. There is a lot of nast backstabbing in the academy.

Didn't Alex Jones recently threaten to kill Robert Mueller?

I don't think so W.  But more recently Jones was  charging Mueller with  being part of a child sex ring, just as they had previously said about the Clinton's in Pizzagate. That is part of the garbage that has fueled this "Q"movement. There is now a serious lack of critical thinking compared to when we were younger.

There are things to be mindful of. But these are private entities. Facebook has taken to policing itself because they don't want the government (or the Deep State, if you prefer)to swoop in and regulate them as a utility. To those who think that would be an incursion by the "Deep State", do you realize Jones would have more recourse than he presently has if Facebook was a publicly regulated utility?

As the reader can see from the link below, its not just Alex Jones.

And also as one can see, congress is urging and applying pressure to these so called "private entities".

Thanks God for Consortium News.
