The Democrats want to keep the federal UE supplement until the end of the year.

The GOP wants it drastically cut.  I really do not understand this, but me and Charles Koch agree on very few things.

If the economy is cratering, then you need more consumer demand.  One way to do that is through UE supplementary benefits.

But I will say this: Trump, Kushner and Kudlow have screwed up the CV 19 pandemic so badly that I don't even think Keynes could figure out a way to cure  it in a short time.

On the other hand, Keynes did describe a realistic long-term solution.

He once said, "In the long run, we're all dead."  🤪

This resistance is very stubborn. Got the dates slightly mixed up. On July 1, the same day Herman Cain was taken by ambulance to the hospital as his breathing worsened, he put out a tweet complimenting South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem for not making social distancing and mask-wearing mandatory at Trump's July 3 appearance in her state.

That's right Dave. Trump crisis handling of the corona virus pandemic----Biggest U.S. disaster since George Bush's Iraq War,  before that LBJ's Viet Nam War.

If not for the fact that nobody blames Trump for all the lives lost- It would be the greatest presidential failure in U.S. history.

Ahemm.....well, I agree Kirk it's not that good. But I often think, how much worse off would we be right now if we didn't have Mike Pence heading up the corona virus task force?

Vice Presidents are often laughing stocks, but Mike Pence has taken the role to a whole new level.

Plague wise, I used to have a few friends who had Harley's, we've drifted apart.  At the moment I'm glad.  Might want to avoid contact the next month or so.

I ride, but I've never been to Sturgis. We have a fairly large annual rally in my hometown. It was canceled this year.

I'd like to go to some of the the larger rallies, looks like it will still likely be a couple of years before I have a chance though.

Smallest Daily Rise in Weeks.  At 47,000 new cases a day.  Is that not stunning, still?  Not news, no response.  Ignore it.

New cases are actually going down nationally but are still at a unbelievable level.  That encourages opening schools, playing football,  a resurgence?

Del Rio must be far south of where Ron lives.  It's in "Lonesome Dove" territory down on the border.

Texas is so huge that you can drive all day across the state and still be deep in the heart of Texas.

It's 312 miles away per the Rand McNally mileage calculator.  I've been there once.  After floating the Frio river we surprised the kids with a "trip" to Mexico.  Before you needed a passport we walked across the bridge over the Rio Grande into Acuna. Three streets converge at it.  I started first down the one to the left.  A fairly well dressed somewhat portly 40-50 ish Mexican gentleman approached saying "My friends, you don't want to go this way, the stores and cantina's are this way," pointing to our right.  We visited a half dozen shops, bought a cheap souvenir apiece.  Then set a bad example for the kids.  Went in a cantina and had one beer and the only shot of Patron I've ever had.  Smooth, that stuff could be trouble if one could afford it in the states and was so inclined to imbibe frequently.  Heading out of Del Rio had to stop at a border patrol checkpoint on the highway several miles to the North.

You couldn't pay me enough money to go there right now.

Talk about pandering.  The GOP must really think they are losing the Latino vote.

Which, from what I understand, in Texas they are.

Isn't Acuna the place where ZZ Top drove in the old Chrysler to visit "The Mexican Blackbird" back in the day?  🤥

Yeah, same place.  That song is so politically incorrect in so may way's these day's it's hard to believe they used to play it on the radio.

It was also the location in a George Strait song, Blame it On Mexico.  Though he woke up in Del Rio.
