Familiar Faces in Dealey Plaza?

Steve,

Several mercenaries who were involved in the Congo action circa 1964/65 under Mike Hoare, were also part of this operational shambles on the Seychelles during the early 1980's. Several told stories regarding Robertson (and his team of Cubans) and comments he made to them about being in Dallas. These mercs had no real interest in the assassination itself and I believed them.

As I mentioned in another post on another topic, I am planning a web site for later this year where several new images will be on show, including some of O'Hare and Robertson.

Cheers,

James

James,

Thanks for the information.

Your comment that Congo mercenaries told stories about Rip Robertson confirming to them that he was in Dallas (presumably, on 11.22.63) seems highly significant.

If your several sources are correct, then William "Rip" Roberton appears to be the first* CIA covert operative who both:

(1) Admitted to several people his presence in Dallas on November 22, 1963; and

(2) Was apparently photographed in Dealey Plaza during the assassination.

This convergence of evidence is important, and, in considering that the mercs accounts of Rip's presence in Dealey Plaza further validate your interpretation of the photographic record, as per http://www.manuscriptservice.com/FFiDP-2/, can you provide more details?

Regards,

Steve

*Some of course would cite David Sanchez Morales' comments to friends that he was in Dallas along with the pictures at http://www.manuscriptservice.com/FFiDP/, but I don't believe the photographic comparison is nearly as strong.

Steve,

Since I made those initial comparisons, there have been some developments.

Firstly, I do still believe that Rip Robertson was in Dallas and that he was a part of the operational plan. I also think that a Cuban he trained and commanded was a member of the assassination squad itself.

Having said that, it now pains me to say that some doubt has been shed on my belief that the man photographed at the corner of Main and Houston is indeed Rip Robertson. In the past, I have been a strong supporter that this man was him but other photographs I have recently seen of Robertson suggest I may well be wrong.

This is a frustrating business and one must be prepared to admit when one is wrong. This is not the first time and I dare say it will not be the last.

FWIW, I do not think David Morales was photographed in Dealey Plaza.

Cheers,

James

The attached obituary for William A. 'Rip' Robertson confirms that he died on December 1, 1970 at age 50, making his birth likely 1920. Hard to say with certainty when cemetery records from the Department of Veterans Affairs have conflicting birth dates and burial dates.

James...in my opinion you are wrong about being wrong about Robertson being at Main and Houston.
