Carne Ross Posted February 19, 2007 Share Posted February 19, 2007 Carne Ross is a former British Diplomat who has worked on Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East Peace Process in his 15 year career. He was most recently in charge of strategy for the UN Mission in Kosovo. Carne’s vision grew out of disillusionment with the current nature of diplomacy, which favours the powerful and marginalises smaller, newer or transitional states unaware of the range of diplomatic tools available to them. He has founded a new organisation, Independent Diplomat, to provide these governments and groups with high-level diplomatic advice, expertise and assistance to help them make an impact in the closed and complex world of international relations. At present his work is focused on supporting the peoples of Kosovo, Somaliland and Western Sahara gain appropriate diplomatic representation and thereby have their existence recognised by the U.N..
