In 1959, a young officer and businessman from Texas received directions to cooperate in funding the nascent anti-Castro groups that the CIA decided to create, but it wasn't until 1960 that he was assigned a more specific and overt mission: to guarantee the security of the process of recruiting Cubans to form an invasion brigade, a key aspect within the grand CIA operation to destroy the Cuban Revolution.

The CIA Texan quickly took a liking to the Cuban assigned to him for his new mission. The system of work, although intense, was simple. Féliz Rodríguez Mendigutía, "El Gato," would propose a candidate to him, who would then be checked out, both in the Agency and among the Miami groups, and finally, the Texan would give the go-ahead.

In that period, Félix Rodríguez already knew quite a few Cubans, like Jorge Mas Canosa (subsequently the leader of various counterrevolutionary organizations and then president of the Cuban-American National Foundation) and had confirmed his loyalty to "the cause" and to the Americans. For that reason he was among the first to be proposed. He passed through the process satisfactorily, and in a meeting in the city of Miami, which the Texan liked to make as formal as possible, Jorge Mas Canosa officially became an agent of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

Jorge Mas didn't know how to thank Félix for what he had done for him. From that moment he was constantly grateful to him and, at the same time, obedient to his every petition.

But Jorge Mas was far from imagining the significance of this recruitment on the rest of his life. The significance rested on the fact that that Texan officer who undertook his recruitment process, approved it and then notified him at that meeting, was none other than George Herbert Walker Bush, the same man who, later, between 1989 and 1992, was the 41st president of the United States.

Various sources coincide on the foregoing. Paul Kangas, a Californian private investigator, published an article containing part of his investigations in The Realist in 1990, in which he affirms that a newly discovered FBI document places Bush as working with the now famous CIA agent Félix Rodríguez on the recruitment of ultra-right wing exiled Cubans for the invasion of Cuba.

For his part, in his "Report on a Censored Project," Dr. Carl Jensen of Sonoma State College states: "There is a record in the files of Rodríguez and others involved in the Bay of Pigs invasion, which expounds the role of Bush: the truth is that Bush was a senior CIA official before working with Félix Rodríguez on the invasion of Cuba."

But Kangas is more precise in his quoted article, when he states:

"Traveling from Houston to Miami on a weekly basis, Bush, with Félix Rodríguez, spent 1960 and 1961 recruiting Cubans in Miami for the invasion."

Other publications that have referred to the theme are The Nation magazine, whose August 13, 1988 edition reveals the finding of "a memorandum in that context addressed to FBI chief J. Edward Hoover and signed November 1963, which reads: Mr. George Bush of the CIA;" or the Common Cause magazine that, on March 4, 1990, affirmed: "The CIA put millionaire and agent George Bush in charge of recruiting exiled Cubans for the CIA?s invading army; Bush was working with another Texan oil magnate, Jack Crichton, who helped him in terms of the invasion."

Without knowing it, Jorge Mas had become part of something far more complex than the planned mercenary invasion. The recent recruited CIA agent became one of the participants in what was originally known as Operation 40.

Operation 40 was the first plan of covert operations generated by the CIA to destroy the Cuban Revolution and was drawn up in 1959 on the orders of the administration of President Ike Eisenhower.

In his book Cuba, the CIA's Secret War, Divisional General (ret) Fabián Escalante Font, former head of the Cuban Counterintelligence Services, explained what occurred in the early 1960.

"A few days later (end of 1959), Allen Dulles, chief of the CIA, presented to the King (Colonel, chief of the Western Hemisphere Division of the CIA) memorandum to the National Security Council, which approved the suggestion of forming a working group within the agency which, in the short term, would provide alternative solutions to the Cuban problem."

The group, Escalante Font relates, was composed of Tracy Barnes as head, and officials Howard Hunt, Frank Bender, Jack Engler and David Atlee Phillips, among others. Those present had one common characteristic: all of them had participated in the fall of the Jacobo Arbenz government in Guatemala.

General Escalante recounts in his book that, during the first meeting, Barnes spoke at length on the objectives to be achieved. He explained that Vice President Richard Nixon was the Cuban "case officer" and had met with an important group of businessmen headed by George Bush and Jack Crichton, both Texas oil magnates, to collect the necessary funding for the operation.

In a 1986 edition of the Freedom Magazine U.S. journalist L.F. Prouty explains that Richard Nixon had long and close links with the Bush family dating back to 1946 when Nixon, responding to a petition by Preston Bush (George?s father) presented himself as a candidate for the U.S. Congress, financed by the old Bush.

The group constituted within the CIA, states Escalante in his book, set up various teams in charge of organizing clandestine operations, psychological warfare actions and exerting economic and diplomatic pressure, which would put paid to the island government. This was compounded by the preparation of an elite group of Cuban agents who, after specialized training, would infiltrate Cuba and deal a mortal rearguard blow to the Revolution, which included the assassination of its principal leaders.

Jorge Mas Canosa gave his recruiters a very positive impression and was immediately assigned to a special mission. "Now things are going to take off," he said enthusiastically.

In the Exito magazine, Mabel Dieppa narrates:

"He was sent to a U.S. Marines training camp close to the Mississippi River, where he was trained to participate in the Bay of Pigs invasion."

But Jorge Mas, as stated, had been attached to a very special group, still within the preparations for the mercenary invasion. The group was composed of 160 men of total confidence and was headed by the traitor and likewise CIA agent Higinio Díaz Ane (Nino). In the abovementioned book, General Escalante explains: "These men were given the mission to attack the town of Baracoa, in the easternmost part of the island, in order to distract the revolutionary forces when the brigade landed at the Bay of Pigs." Once they had taken Baracoa, they were to head for the Guantánamo Naval Base and, simulating Cuban troops, organize a provocation by attacking the installation, thus facilitating a U.S. military response with a formal reason for intervening in the conflict created by the mercenary invasion. That plan was the secret mechanism that the CIA and the Pentagon had up their sleeve, and nobody, not even President Kennedy, knew of it.

On the day of the invasion, the 160 "elite" agency men left in a boat for their destination but, on reaching Baracoa, fear at the movement of Cuban troops in the area won out over the sterling training they had received, and they confined themselves to continue navigating south of the island until they reached the westernmost extreme. From there, they headed for Puerto Rico, arriving there the same day. In Miami, as a joke, this action was christened "Skirting round Cuba."

After the Bay of Pigs defeat in April 1961 the CIA recouped its men. It reiterated its confidence in them and assigned them new missions, maintaining the objectives that gave rise to Operation 40.

In the weekly Política, the author Natacha Herrera explained:

"Along with another 207 agents, Mas went to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic U.S. army training and was selected to take a special intelligence, clandestine communication and propaganda course."

In his extensive work published for the Esquire magazine in January 1993, Gaeton Fonzi affirms that in Fort Benning, Mas Canosa?s friends with whom he was most closely linked in complex covert operations were Félix Rodríguez and Luis Posada Carriles," the latter of whom became notorious for the sabotage of a Cubana Airline passenger plane in full flight over Barbados in 1976.

"After Fort Benning," says the U.S. investigator, "there was some CIA connection in every move or action in Jorge Mas? career."

Precisely because of the outstanding results obtained in Fort Benning, the Agency later assigned Mas Canosa to another delicate mission. On this occasion, he would have to move to an "ultra-secret" base located a little south of Fort Benning, to join what was known as the "New Orleans group." That group, which took its name from the location of the base on the outskirts of the southern U.S. city, was mainly composed of veterans from the Bay of Pigs and Fort Benning, although some agents of confidence like Antonio Veciana, recently arrived from the island and reportedly very close to Jorge Mas in that period, were incorporated. Their preparation was sui generis. The group took a course on the use of means and methods of combat of the Cuban army.

The content of the mission was disclosed by General Escalante in his book: "Once again, the plot consisted of a self-provocation against the Yankee base (of Guantánamo), via the infiltration of a commando of 150 men who trained in an ultra-secret CIA base on the outskirts of the southern U.S. city of New Orleans."

The mission was cancelled due to the occurrences that gave rise to the Missile Crisis in October 1962, which convinced the organizers of the inevitability of a direct military intervention by the U.S. army without the need of any pretext."

After this new failure, Mas Canosa was full of rage and impotence and acknowledged to the U.S. writer Pat Jordan in an interview that, "the two men he most hated were Fidel Castro and John F. Kennedy."

In the United States, the media has once again picked up on the relationship of the émigré Cubans who worked for the CIA with the assassination of President Kennedy in Dallas in 1963.

During a long conversation with the investigator Gaeton Fonzi in Havana, we discovered a story that, given its content, it is worth reproducing. Fonzi is not just any common or garden investigator. He had devoted much of his life to working for various congressional committees, including those responsible for investigations into the covert activities of the CIA and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

A few years ago, and after much effort, Fonzi managed to get a private interview with Antonio Veciana, the same old buddy of Jorge Mas in the "New Orleans group," where the two of them became close friends while fulfilling CIA missions. Veciana had been interrogated by the Grand Jury charged with investigating the assassination of President Kennedy, and years later, had had some drug-related problems; but he vehemently affirmed to Fonzi that these difficulties were nothing more than a "trap" set up by somebody.

"I have a lot of information, but I am keeping that to myself because it is my life insurance," Veciana told Fonzi."

Antonio Veciana Blanch was a public accountant who worked for the Cuban sugar magnate Julio Lobo. He rapidly opposed the Cuban Revolution and, in 1960 was recruited by the CIA in Havana. He received his initial training in an English Language Academy supervised by the U.S. embassy in the Cuban capital. In October 1961, after the failure of a plot he devised to assassination Prime Minister Fidel Castro with a bazooka during an event at the former Presidential Palace, Veciana fled Cuba.

In the interview that he gave to Fonzi he related that, once in Miami, he was looked after by a CIA official who used the pseudonym of Maurice Bishop. Among other tasks, this "Bishop" ordered Veciana to promote the creation of the ALPHA 66 organization.

"Bishop" had frequent contact with Veciana from 1962-1963 in the city of Dallas. Veciana recalled that, at one of those meetings in a public building, he saw Lee Harvey Oswald.

Fonzi noted that various acts of disinformation were organized as part of the operation that cost the life of President Kennedy: one in Dallas, another in Miami and a third in Mexico City. The objective of the disinformation was to manufacture the image of a "revolutionary" Oswald, a "defender of the Cuban Revolution."

Hence the ex-marine was filmed in acts of solidarity with Cuba, demonstrating in a very aggressive manner. But the most daring act of disinformation was effected in Mexico City. There, Lee Harvey Oswald turned up at the Cuban embassy to ask for an entry visa to the island. All of that was filmed from a surveillance post that the CIA had opposite the Cuban embassy, so that it would be documented.

The strange thing is, as Veciana told Fonzi, in one of his contacts with "Bishop" in early 1963, the latter said that he knew that he (Veciana) had a cousin in Cuban Intelligence, who was located at the Cuban embassy in Mexico. "Bishop" stated that if it suited his cousin to work for them in a very specific action, he would pay him whatever he wanted. Veciana commented to Fonzi that he had never spoken of this cousin to "Bishop" and also, at that time, "Bishop" was assigned to the U.S. embassy in Mexico City and even went directly from the Mexican capital to some contacts in Dallas.

In fact Veciana was the cousin of the wife of the then Cuban consul in Mexico City, Guillermo Ruiz, and in the days following the assassination of Kennedy, that woman was the victim of a recruitment attempt in the same city, with the clear proposition that, once in the United States, she would testify as to Oswald?s "complicity" with the Cuban secret services.

Questioned by Fonzi as to the existence of renewed contacts with "Bishop" after the Dallas homicide, Veciana answered that there had been, particularly in 1971, when he received an order to leave for Bolivia and work in the U.S. embassy in that country, where he would appear as an official for the Agency for International Development (USAID) and should wait for a visit from a known person. Fonzi checked the USAID archives in Washington and found an application form to enter the USAID in the name of Antonio Veciana, handwritten in letters distinct from those of Veciana and unsigned.

The "known person" who contacted him in Bolivia was "Bishop," at that time located in the U.S. embassy in Chile. "Bishop" immediately incorporated him into a team plotting an attempt on the life of President Fidel Castro, who was to visit the South American country.

Fonzi told us that he interviewed Antonio Veciana again, but this time accompanied by a specialist with the aim of composing a photofit of "Maurice Bishop" so as to determine his real identity.

Veciana gave a detailed description and the photofit was made. Fonzi spent weeks trying to identify the character, and one Sunday, suddenly received a call at home from a Republican senator for Pennsylvania for whom he was working at the time, and whom he had consulted on the identity of the man in the drawing.

The senator assured him that the he was absolutely sure that the man using the pseudonym of Maurice Bishop was none other than David Atlee Phillips. He was a veteran CIA officer who was in Havana on a working visit in 1958 as a specialist in psychological warfare, participated in the creation of Operation 40 and later, as part of the same, organized the Radio Swann transmitter. With time, Phillips would become head of the Western Hemisphere Division of the Agency.

However, at the end of 1993, in the documentary Case Closed, the former chief of Cuban Security, Divisional General (ret) Fabián Escalante, revealed a secret report from one of his agents, which spoke of a meeting between Antonio Veciana and David Phillips in a hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the early 70s.

"Veciana told me," said the Cuban agent, "that he was a CIA agent and it was the CIA that assassinated Kennedy and that senior CIA officials including David Phillips, the official attending to him, were behind it all. Veciana never wanted to give me any details of that affirmation, but recently, I have been able to confirm it, because once when I was in a hotel with Veciana, I heard a conversation that he had with his officer, David Phillips, in which Veciana swore that he would never talk about what happened in Dallas in 1963."

General Escalante guarantees that the source has direct access to Veciana, and was in his total confidence:

"I believe," Escalante affirmed, "that that is very important information because I have to say that, in 1973, when Antonio Veciana was liquidated by the CIA; in other words, when the CIA took him off their books, he received a compensation payment of $300,000."

But there is more. According to Cuban State Security investigations disclosed by General Escalante in the abovementioned documentary, various witnesses quoted by the Warren Commission described two Cubans, one of them black, leaving the Daley Plaza Book Deposit in Dallas, a few minutes after the assassination was effected. In parallel, through secret information and public testimony (the statement by Marita Lorenz, ex-CIA agent to a congressional committee), Cuban Security knew that two days before the assassination various Cubans were in Dallas with weapons and telescopic sights, including Eladio del Valle and Herminio Díaz, two paid killers and expert sharpshooters linked to the Mafia and Batista politics. The physical characteristics of Del Valle and Herminio Díaz matched the descriptions that various witnesses gave to the Warren Commission of the two Cubans seen leaving the building seconds after the president had been assassinated.

The really curious fact is the final fate of both of them: Eladio del Valle was brutally murdered in Miami when Jim Garrison, the New Orleans district attorney initiated his investigation into the Kennedy assassination; Del Valle was chopped into pieces with a machete. Even more interesting was the end of Herminio Díaz, who died near the Havana coast in 1965, when he collided with a patrol boat while trying to infiltrate the island with the mission of assassinating Osvaldo Dortícos and submachine gunning the Riviera Hotel

In order to fulfill the mission on which he was sent, Díaz had to infiltrate the island right in the capital via Monte Barreto in Miramar (where a number of hotels are currently going up) at a time when, because of an incident at the Guantánamo naval base, the Cuban army was on combat alert, and aerial and coastal vigilance was been reinforced to the maximum. In the eyes of experts, and the Cuban Security, the operation was a veritable suicide mission.

The financial organizer and planner of such "a strange mission" was none other than Jorge Mas Canosa.

But the history of the CIA?s links with its Cuban agents and the Kennedy assassination has not only been explored by Fonzi. Many other authors and investigators, and even the film studios that gave origin to the U.S. movies Executive Action and JFK, have covered the subject.

In an article published in The Realist magazine, the investigator Paul Kangas affirms:

"Among other members of the CIA recruited by George Bush for the (Bay of Pigs) invasion) were Frank Sturgis, Howard Hunt, Bernard Baker and Rafael Quintero. On the day that JFK was assassinated, Hunt and some of the subsequent Watergate team were photographed in Dallas, as well as a group of Cubans, one of them with an opened umbrella as a signal, alongside the president?s limousine, right where Kennedy was shot? Hunt and Sturgis fired on JFK from a grassy knoll. They were photographed and seen by 15 witnesses."

On May 7, 1990, in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Frank Sturgis acknowledged:

"The reason why we robbed in Watergate was because (Richard) Nixon was interested in stopping the news leaks related to the photos of our role in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy."

Another of Bush?s recruits for the Bay of Pigs invasion, Rafael Quintero, who was also part of this underworld of organizations and conspiracies against Cuba, stated:

"If I was to tell what I know about Dallas and the Bay of Pigs, it would be the greatest scandal that has ever rocked to nation."

Up to here are certain details of one of the existing theories on the above-mentioned event but, will the whole truth come out some day? Will Antonio Veciana, former member of the "New Orleans group," decide to reveal his "life insurance" or Rafael Quintero, to tell what he knows and thus, "rock the nation?"

Once FDR died, there was a great sea-change, and the pre-war pro-Nazi arch conservatives and Wall Street venture capitalists began to resume control in America. War crimes investigators in Asia suffered fatal accidents or plane crashes at sea, journalists opposed to the Chiang regime or the reinstatement of war criminals in control of postwar Japan were blacklisted, diplomats like John Service had their careers destroyed, and OSS agents who had worked happily with Mao and Ho Chi Minh against the Japanese were replaced by opportunists like Lansdale who sucked up to the Dulles brothers and Brown Brothers Harriman. I saw a re-run re-cently of a George Raft movie with Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre during the Nazi occupation of Istanbul, and one of Raft’s lies was “I’m not interested in your New World Order.” It resonated of George Bush and the Carlisle Group. Maybe the Cold War is really what’s going on in America.

Al-Qaida's No. 2 calls Bush an alcoholic By MAAMOUN YOUSSEF, Associated Press Writer

CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida's No. 2 said

Ayman al-Zawahri said in the tape that Bush has been forced to admit his failure in Iraq after he was "stubborn" and repeated the "lie, which he became addicted to, that he is winning" in Iraq and

Afghanistan.

"Bush suffers from an addictive personality, and was an alcoholic. I don't know his present condition ... but the one who examines his personality finds that he is addicted to two other faults — lying and gambling," al-Zawahri said in the audiotape.

Bush, who is now 60, has acknowledged he had a problem with drinking but gave up alcohol when he was 40 years old.

The 41-minute audiotape could not immediately be authenticated but was seen by The Associated Press on a Web site commonly used by insurgent groups and carried the logo of the multimedia arm of al-Qaida, as-Sahab.

The audio was accompanied by a video that showed a still picture of al-Zawahri and featured an English translation of the audio at the bottom of the screen.

Transcripts of the audiotape were first released by two U.S. groups that track extremist messages, the SITE Institute and the IntelCenter.

On the tape, al-Zawahri said Bush has gone down in history as one of the world's "most notorious liars."

"So pay attention before it's too late, and beware of Bush's losing gambler's lie which claims that he, with the corpses of your killed and limbs of your wounded, is spreading democracy around the world," said al-Zawahri, apparently addressing the American people.

Al-Zawahri also said recent congressional elections in the United States that elected a majority of Democrats would change nothing.

"The people chose you due to your opposition to Bush's policy in Iraq, but it appears that you are marching with him to the same abyss," al-Zawahri said of the Democrats according to the transcript.

He repeated an earlier condemnation of the Palestinian

Fatah movement led by Mahmoud Abbas for seeking to establish a secular state.

"I'm not asking them to join Hamas, the Islamic Jihad or al-Qaida, but rather, I'm asking them to return to Islam, in order to fight for the establishment of an Islamic state over all of Palestine and not for the establishment of a secularist state which will please America," al-Zawahri said.

He also warned of an escalating threat from the Taliban in Afghanistan and called on all Muslims to strive for unity, "even if they are Afghans, Persians, Turks or Kurds."

It was the fourth message by

Osama bin Laden's deputy since the beginning of the year. The last was on Jan. 22, when he mocked Bush's plan to send an additional 21,000 troops to Iraq.

Al-Zawahri called what he described as Bush' failure in Iraq and the growing Taliban resistance in Afghanistan the "most important events" of the past year. He also said "the people cooperating with the United States in Afghanistan and in Iraq would be abandoned by the Americans once they fail, the same way they did in Vietnam."

Muslims around the world, he added, should go to "Afghanistan, Iraq, Algeria and Somalia, because your brothers the Mujahedeen are in need of men, money, materiel, opinion, expertise and information."

The al-Qaida leader also threatened that countries allied to the United States in the region "must reap their bitter harvest," specifically naming Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Will Bush Purge Nazi Collaborators in the G.O.P.? . by Russell C. Bellant .

Source: The New York Times, Op-Ed page, November 19, 1988 The campaign may be over, but George Bush still needs to say what he plans to do with the 20-year-old Republican Heritage Groups Council, the ethnic outreach arm of the Republican National Committee. There is substantial evidence to suggest that the council was founded and continues to be led by people and organizations that collaborated with the Nazi occupation of Eastern Europe during the Second World War. The Bush campaign scored a major success in Sptember when it quickly discharged seven members of its ethnic coalition after a series of of news reports linked them to fascist, anti-Semitic or pro-Nazi organizations. But four of the seven discharged Bush ethnic leaders continue to hold leadership positions within the Heritage Groups Council. Florian Galdau, for instance, still heads the Romanian-American Republic Clubs, one of the components of the Heritage Council. A retired priest, he was an ally of the late Archbishop Valerian Trifa, who was convicted by the United States for concealing his crimes against humanity committed in a Bucharest pogrom in 1941. A leader of the pro-Nazi Iron Guard, Archbishop Trifa recruited Mr. Galdau in 1955 to run a Manhattan church. Former Iron Guard members, Federal Bureau of Investigation reports and Romanian Orthodox priests have identified Mr. Galdau as a recruiter for the Iron Guard. Mr. Galdau has denied these charges. But F.B.I. reports and Iron Guard publications from the 1980's link him to Iron Guard activities. Another Republican ethnic activist ousted from the Bush campaign is Radi Slavoff, head of the Bulgarian section and also executive director of the Heritage Council. Mr. Slavoff is also the Washington representative of the Bulgarian National Front, an American-based group formed in a postwar merger of several wartime pro-Nazi and Fascist orgnaizations. Mr. Slavoff continues as executive director of the Heritage Council despite these associations. Phil Guarino is a leader of the Italian section of the Heritage Council as well as a former vice-chairman of the council. Mr. Guarino, a Republican National Committee staffer, was removed from the Bush campaign after reports surfaced of his involvement in the P-2 Lodge of Italy. P-2 was a group of influential people--high-ranking military and intelligence officers, industrialists and some political party leaders, among others--tied in Italian press reports to the 1980 bombing of the Bologna train station, which killed 85 people. The goal of the group--which is now believed to be defunct--was to destabilize the Italian Government and, ultimately, to install a dictatorship. The fourth ethnic leader expelled from the Bush campaign was Laszlo Pasztor, who founded the Heritage Groups Council in 1969 with the encouragement of Richard Nixon. It was Mr. Pasztor's job to select the groups and leaders that formed the G.O.P.'s first permanent outreach to ethnic America. Mr. Pasztor worked as an embassy aide in Berlin for the militantly pro-Nazi Arrow Cross government, which was installed in Hungary in 1944. (He has since said that he regrets his involvement.) When he began selecting people for the Heritage Council, Mr. Pasztor frequently selected those with backgrounds like his. And when he helped form Mr. Nixon's ethinc campaign group for the 1972 election, he opened the doors to numerous people with a Nazi collaborationist past, including some accused of war crimes. One of them, Boleslavs Maikovskis, recently sought asylum in West Germany to avoid deportation to the Soviet Union. A United States court ordered him deported in 1984 for concealing his involvement in war crimes in Nazi-occupied Latvia. Another of those recruited by Mr. Pasztor in 1969--and stillhoding a leadership slot in the council--is Nicolas Nazarenko, a squadron commander of a Cossack unit under German command in World War II. Mr. Nazarenko told me during a seven-hour interview that Jews were his "ideological enemy" and that he was active today with Nazi groups here. The Slovak section of the council is run by sympathizers and at least one former official of the Slovak Nazi state created by Hitler in 1938. Although the Slovak state declared war on America one day after Hitler did, and deported many Slovak Jews to gas chambers, the leaders of the Heritage Council Slovak section still hold annula memorials of the 1938 founding of the puppet regime of Slovakia. Mr. Bush defends Mr. Galdau, Mr. Pasztor, Mr. Guarino and Mr. Slavoff as innocent of all accusations of collaboration and insists they are all honorable men. But the historical record belies his assertions. The G.O.P. for decades has misread ethnic America's concerns about crime, employment, anti-ethnic discrimination and the future of its youth. It has offered instead the fascism and ethnic prejudices of the Heritage Council, which focuses primarily on funding Radio Free Europe and stopping Justice Department prosecutions of war criminals who illegally entered the country. As the chairman of the Republican National Committee in the early years of the council, and now as head of the Republican Party and President-elect, Mr. Bush owes Americans a complete explanation. So the question is WHEN did all this rampant Bush criminality start? 1985? 1975? 1965? 1963? 1960?

Answer: it began when GHW Bush cut his teeth on high level covert operations, which means the late 1950's or early 1960's. GHW Bush was age 39 in 1963 and an elite player by then. He was age 37 at the Bay of Pigs.

By comparison, JEB BUSH was in his early 30's, age 32 or 33, when he an Oliver North were putting out drug hits in the 1980's. See Al Martin for that. The Bushes and Oliver North had Barry Seal murdered in Feb., 1986. Chip Tatum says that during this time period GHW Bush and Henry Kissinger were running the pinnacle of an elite "executive action" program where they were literally ASSASSINATING PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD.

And Chip Tatum himself has murdered many, many people. But he resigned in 1992 when ordered to neutralize/intimidate Ross Perot who knew ALL ABOUT the Bush drug dealing.

I can't respond specifically to your question, but speaking from experience, doing real research is difficult and in many instances, unsatisfying

because it seems imprudent to tie in coincidences which are so numerous in our mutual areas of interest that the situation of coincidences supports my suspicion that there has to be a god with a twisted sense of humor, amusing himself at our expense. If you are not careful in your approach to

this work, you justifiably have questions asked about you similar to your question about Chip Tatum.

A demonstation of what I am talking about.

Whitney Shepardson's son married Joan Baker about 1950. The best man in their wedding was William Alexander Stuart, Jr. of Rosedale, VA. Mr. Alexander was a Harvard classmate of John W. Shepardson, and he married Cynthia Bemis in 1952. John Shepardson's wife, Joan, had a sister who married a Yale grad and Navy Vet named David W. O'brien. Two of the ushers in the Baker-O'brien wedding were new brother-in-law, John W. Shepardson,

and John Zinsser, nephew of John McCloy's wife, Ellen.

Getting back to John Shepardson's best man, William "Zan" Stuart, Jr....his father was born in Wytheville, VA, todays' population there is just 7,000+, and "Zan" lived and now has died in that vicinity, in Rosedale, Va. For nearly sixty years, "Zan" was president of the family "Land and Cattle" company, comprising three farm parcels amounting to 16,000 acres, the oldest beef stock firm in the U.S. and the largest east of the Mississippi. "Zan's" first wife, Cynthia, who died later in their marriage, was the daughter of close Bush family, friend, Samuel M. Bemis. Cynthia's brother, Fitzgerald Bemis is so close to Bush that he was Marvin Bush's godfather, and the Bush's were overnight guests of Bemis around the time "W"'s daughter was married in this decade. Circa 1975, Samuel M. Bemis and Thomas J. Devine initiated, supposedly on their own initiative, at least two meetings to evaluate Bush's future political prospects.

NSA cryptographer John B. Hurt was also from tiny Wytheville. At least twenty years after his wedding, a description of the career of John W. Shepardson describes him as still closely associated with another of his wedding ushers, Thomas H. Burrowes, a DC "investor" who valued his vice presidency of DC based Norwood film production studios, described as the largest on the east coast, enough to have this association included in his obit, when he died at age 78. This seemed odd because of the location of Norwood Studios and the product it produced; many propaganda films requested by FBI, NASA, Civil Defense, and because he and his partners sold their interests by 1969.

Conversely, two prominent script writers employed at Norwood in the

relevant period were blacklisted by HUAC and were convincingly leftist. They

both defied convention by choosing to grow full beards! They handled the area

of Norwood's business engage in churning out labor union funded, pro union propaganda films.

Burrowes was also an usher in the wedding of another fellow Baker-Shepardson wedding usher, Tener Riggs Eckelberry. Here is news about Eckelberry's son, at a critical time in the Contra-VP Bush saga. The senior Eckelberry, the former wedding usher, was recruited into the foreign division of Proctor and Gambel, where he served in posts all over the world, neat trick with six sons. P&G is one of the Corps. named specifically as known in that era to provide NOC for CIA personnel.

Now, there are enough coincidental associations in the above "bits" to simply throw it all up on the wall and hope that some of it sticks, and

embellished with a bit of sensationalism and self-promotion, some of it might.

However, I dug all of it up and pursued it to where ever it led, and so far, none of it can reasonably be considered anything beyond coincidence.

We all do the best we can, I guess...or at least some of us sincerely try to.

Is anybody willing to venture an opinion on the veracity of Chip Tatum's works, and on the likelihood of his death?

David Andrew, the odds are very high that Chip Tatum is alive and well. I know people who know him and they were telling me that he was alive as late as summer 2007. He is underground, probably having made a deal with folks like George Herbert Walker Bush and Oliver North to be quiet or get killed. Maybe they gave him some money, but I doubt it. More likely, Chip Tatum is living under an assumed name - who knows where? anywhere? Costa Rica, USA, Europe - could be anywhere in the world.

Chip Tatum came public in 1996, giving interviews and trying to raise his visibility profile. He disappeared from public a few years later, going underground for protection. William Colby, his mentor, died in spring 1996, and Colby was probably murdered. I SPECULATE and it would not surprise me IF George Herbert Walker Bush ordered the murder of William Colby for 2 reasons: the Chip Tatum revelations and Colby's friendship with John De Camp who was investigating the Franklin pedophile ring.

The above is SPECULATION ... but it would not surprise me. George Herbert Walker Bush certainly has the hierarchy and history of ordering murders.

As for Chip Tatum's veracity, I think he is EXTREMELY credible and his story is obviously been surpressed in the MSM as blockbuster as it is. I do think GHW Bush was using criminal intimidation tactics to terrify/neutralize Ross Perot in the 1992 election. Remember Ross Perot, an egotistical Texas billionaire was LEADING in the polls when he suddenly and surprisingly withdrew from the presidential race in July, 1992. I remember it well because I was poised to VOTE for him and could not believe he was withdrawing for no apparent reason, except that he said the Republicans were intimidating him and sending thugs to his daughter's wedding. The media said Perot was crazy. He was NOT crazy; Perot was literally in FEAR for his life at what GHW Bush would do to him. Perot knew all about the Bush/Clinton/CIA drug dealing of the 1980's and GHW Bush was TERRIFIED himself at what Perot would do with that information.

Jack Goldsmith links to an interesting document from the RummyLeaks library: then Chief of Staff Donald Rumsfeld’s memo to President Ford reviewing possible candidates to replace William Colby as head of the CIA.

But Goldsmith doesn’t call out the most amusing part of the memo: the way that Rummy asserts that Poppy has the intelligence experience to do the job without pointing out where he got that experience.

Where Rummy thought someone had real experience with the CIA he laid that out:...

....But Rummy doesn’t really explain how Bush acquired his general familiarity with intelligence.

This is perhaps most obvious when you compare Rummy’s description of Bob Dole’s qualifications with those of Bush.

Robert J. Dole: 52 years old (this month); U.S. Senator (R-Kansas); Past Chairman, RNC; Lawyer, WWII Service.

Pros: Strong “law and order” image. Confirmable.

Cons: No background in intelligence; no management experience; RNC post raises question over politicization potential.

George Bush: 51 years old; Member of Congress; US Ambassador to the UN and subsequently to USLO Peking; Oil producer; Politician.

Pros: Experience in government and diplomacy; generally familiar with the components of the intelligence community and their missions; management experience; high integrity and proven adaptability.

Cons: RNC post lends undesirable political cast.

After all, at this point of their life, these men shared many of the same resume points: they are nearly exact contemporaries, with World War II experience (though Rummy didn’t mention Poppy’s), time in Congress, and service at the head of the RNC. Yet according to Rummy, Bush had the intelligence experience to lead CIA and Dole did not...

That is an excellent point, how does Donald Rumsfield know that George H. W. Bush had intelligence experience but not Bob Dole, who had been a US senator since 1969?

It seems logical to me that Rumsfeld already knew that Bush was CIA.

I do think that George Herbert Walker Bush was involved in the JFK assassination at age 39. His intelligence career was escalated and accelerated due to close family ties to Allen Dulles. Think of Allen Dulles as "Uncle Allen" to GHW Bush.

Pres. Obama gives Medal of Freedom to George H. W. Bush

On February 15, President Obama bestowed the Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest award, to a group of people which includes former president George H.W. Bush. Having spent five years researching the elder Bush and discovering a staggering array of secrets to the man’s life—none of them favorable, I was curious why Obama gave Bush the medal.

Officially, it goes to individuals “who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

Since that covers just about anything, there’s no real need to justify giving the award to “Bush 41.” In fact, the group being honored this year includes the cellist Yo-Yo Ma, baseball great Stan “the Man” Musial, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, author Maya Angelou and investor Warren Buffett. Over the years, it has gone to every president from JFK (some posthumously)—through Reagan, who got it from his former veep: George H.W. Bush. They skipped Nixon, so obviously there’s nothing mandatory about giving the award to presidents—especially not when a president is ousted before serving out his term. Clinton did not give it to the elder Bush, nor did the younger Bush give it to his father, and so when it came to be Obama’s turn to hand out medals, perhaps the pressure was intense.

Notwithstanding the inevitability of the process, President Obama needed to trot out some explanation or other as to why each recipient was deserving. In remarks at the ceremony, he said that H.W.’s “His life is a testament that public service is a noble calling….his humility and his decency reflects the very best of the American spirit.” And he referred to Mr. Bush’s “extraordinary life of service and of sacrifice.”

His life has certainly been extraordinary. Though whether “decency” is the right term, or whether his activities “reflect the very best of the American spirit,” or whether his has been a “life…of sacrifice” seem to be debatable.

There’s another side to the elder Bush, and it is hard to believe that Obama is completely unaware of any of this. It goes to the heart of Bush’s purported “humility,” and whether it is truly humility—or his need to hide so many secrets. Especially as it relates, remarkably, to the assassination of another president, John F. Kennedy.

Here are some questions that should have been asked of George H.W. Bush before concluding that his life is an open book, or that whatever he did to deserve the Medal of Freedom is based on commonly understood events. These questions are based on revelations from my book, Family of Secrets: the Bush Dynasty, America’s Invisible Government, and the Hidden History of the Last Fifty Years, of which the Obama White House is aware, and copies of which can be found in major American bookstores and libraries, including the Library of Congress. The underlying points are all documented and footnoted—and some of these questions have appeared before in an earlier post on this site and others.

-Former president Bush, we all know that you served for a single year as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. What about the fact trail suggesting that, just like the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, you actually spent your entire adult life prior to becoming vice president working in covert operations—but unlike Putin, have not admitted that? What about documentation showing that, as far back as the early 1950s, your small but hyperactive company, Zapata Offshore, was commercial cover for super-secret ops?

-Some years ago you claimed not to remember where you were on the morning of Nov. 22, 1963? Have you since been able to recall?

-Can you tell us about your decades-long friendship with George de Mohrenschildt, the man who was in and out of Lee Harvey Oswald’s house on almost a daily basis in the year before the Kennedy assassination?

-Did you, as characterized in an FBI memo, work as a CIA officer in tandem with Cuban exiles at the time of the Kennedy assassination?

-Why have you never spoken publicly about the documented call you made to the FBI on Nov 22, 1963, in which you identified yourself fully and claimed to have information on a possible suspect in Kennedy’s death? What was the purpose of that call, in which you mentioned your whereabouts at the time of the call, 1:45pm, as Tyler, Texas, i.e. about 99 miles away but just a short flight on the private plane on which you were traveling? Why did you tell the FBI that you were en route next to Dallas and would stay at the Sheraton there when you had already been at the Sheraton the night before — and right after that call flew to Dallas but only to switch planes and fly back immediately to Houston? Why were you giving the FBI the impression you would be staying in Dallas the night after the assassination instead of letting them know you had stayed there the night before the assassination?

-Why was your own assistant at the home of the man you would finger as a suspect in the shooting, and why did he end up providing the man with an alibi? Was the ultimate purpose of that call not to cause the alleged suspect any permanent harm, but merely to use the call as an excuse to state in government files that you were in a place other than Dallas?

-Since you claimed not to remember where you were when Kennedy was killed, how is it that after these FBI memos surfaced, your wife Barbara suddenly found and published an old letter placing you and her in Tyler, Texas shortly after the shooting?

-On the day of the assassination, were you in touch with your friend and Republican running mate Jack Crichton, a military intelligence figure who was connected to figures forcing their way into the pilot car of Kennedy’s motorcade? The same Crichton who controlled the man who served as the interpreter between Oswald’s wife and police and reframed her words so as to implicate Oswald in Kennedy’s shooting? The same Crichton who was working out of a secret underground communications bunker below the streets of Dallas? The same Crichton whose secret military intelligence unit counted dozens of men who simultaneously held jobs as Dallas police officers? The same Crichton who did secret oil industry intelligence work in the Middle East while you did intelligence related oil industry work via your company, Zapata Offshore?

-Finally, do you know people who consider the events of November 22, 1963 to, in their minds, “reflect the very best of the American spirit?” You say almost nothing, ever, about the Kennedy assassination, even skipping over it in your own memoir, which details much more trivial events of the same year. Why is that? And why then, in your eulogy for former President Ford, a member of the increasingly-discredited Warren Commission, did you go out of your way to oddly praise him for promoting the increasingly-discredited “single bullet theory?” You said:

“After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy, our nation turned to Gerald Ford and a select handful of others to make sense of that madness. And the conspiracy theorists can say what they will, but the Warren Commission report will always have the final definitive say on this tragic matter. Why? Because Jerry Ford put his name on it and Jerry Ford’s word was always good.”

Why did you, so bizarrely, smile when you uttered those words?

Now, with your Medal of Freedom, given you by a Democratic president who ran as an agent of change, you truly seem to be enjoying the last laugh.
