Clipbank is an unique and lively resource for 11-16 year-old history students, these 5 TV-ROMs each contain 20-25 filmed news reports from ITN Archive of great 20th century historical events - as they happened.

4Learning's TV-ROMs have all the advantages of CD-ROM delivery with the additional facility of being able to store and play back up to 60 minutes of restructured television footage in near broadcast quality, on a full computer screen.

Integrated and linked with the footage are printable and exportable resources that can be edited and customised, maps, photographs, biographies, a wordbank of definitions, and links to related and approved Websites. The TV-ROMs are fully

TV-ROMs work on PCs and Macs with the following minimum technical specifications:

PC Windows 95b or above, Windows 98, NT4 or 2000

133 MHz Pentium processor or faster

32 Mb RAM CD-ROM drive

4-speed or faster

Soundblaster-compatible sound card

Display capable of reproducing 16-bit high colour on 800 x 600

Apple Mac 160 MHz PowerPC processor

running Mac OS 8.1 or above, OS 9, OS X (Classic Mode only)

32Mb available RAM CD-ROM drive 4-speed or higher

Display capable of reproducing thousands of colours at 800 x 600

The TV-ROMs have been installed on and tested across standard configurations of the following networks:

Windows NT

Novell Netware

Linux Servers

Sun Solaris

They have also been tested and work on all current makes of interactive whiteboard.

Thanks for the information. I will be using this as I can. This seems to me to be a great educational resource. One question though, is there a cost involved with using these TV-ROMs, or are they free to download?
