Hi this is David Weaver,

I would like to give you a link to the temporary forum Debra Conway has set up on the lancer main site.

You can't login without registering newly there, also members of lancer forum have to do it,as this forum software is different than the one we used and will use again in a few days at www.jfklancerforum.com (at the moment not reachable)

the user name must not have a space in it, example:

firstname lastname=wrong

firstname_lastname=right

Please do hold a local copy of your posts you do there, if you wish to have the post also on our regular forum , the software is different, and my main effort goes into getting our normal system up again, so I don't know if or when I will be able to transfer those posts to our regular forum database.

Well in short I would like to tell you what hell both Debra and I went through in the last 7 days.

As some of you may know, our host had a harddrive crash on Sunday which resulted in total dataloss, not only of our server, but 250 others plus his billing and

customer database. He had no backup system running.

I did mail out to the members we have the data of until august of 2003, that's where we're kicked back to, until I can recover the data from the harddrive I've talked the old host out of , but we don't have it yet.

As many of you may know, Debra is still recovering from an operation, and the situation that was brought upon her, didn't help her.

One can only applaud this lady, she did was she could in order to help me getting the forum up again, and we where nearly there after only 3 days of very very hard work. But we where stopped, when the new host, who actualy bought the company from the one we were hosted before, got all of his server lines cut due to unpaid bills by the former owner.

Some of you may know that I live in Germany (I will fill out my profile later), and the long distance didn't make things easier, I called to the old host, the new host I had on aim, phoned to Debra many times, every thing possible was tried. But the new host lacks the money to bring the servers up again.

I have the forum running here on my server in my working room waiting to be placed on a new serverhome which Debra will arrange in the next days, I will then test it's functionality under the new conditions, if everything works out ok, we will be back by midweek.

I would like to thank all of you who contacted me and Debra for their support and patience.

I hope this post will come up readable, I've lost 7 Kilos, had double vision more than once and at one stage even declined an offer by ElVIS, who popped up in my working room, to go to dinner with him.

Sorry to hear about all your problems. Please let me know if there is anything Andy Walker and I can do anything to help.

I suspect a large number of your members are also members of JFK Lancer. Would you like me to add a message to our weekly newsletter. If so, send me details by email.

How is Debra? It is clear from some of the comments on the JFK Lancer forum that some members have no idea how much time and effort goes into running a service like this. Yet people are so quick to criticise and very slow to praise. Personally, I believe she does a tremendous job trying to keep all the various factions happy.

I will contact him as soon as I'm ready with setting up the forum, as we have a new host now, and I have to test everything as fast as possible, i have all attachments until March of 2003 myself, Debra also has provided a large number

she saved, so maybe with a little luck and the help of Dennis and other members,

we will be able to get every attachment back that we still need.

Once the server and Software is fully testet, I will set up a ftp folder, so every member who has saved attachments will be able to upload them to our new server.

Hi everyone,

i would like to inform you on what's going on in regard of www.jfklancerforum.com.

We had 3 host changes in the last 10 days, everytime i was nearly ready

to open the forum up again, i was thrown back to the startline, because the server plattforms where incompatible.

The forum is 99% up now, except for the attachments (i will try re-import later today), and the mails won't get send until we have the DNS entry made which brings the site up under the real name jfklancerforum.com. The mailer refuses to send with only the ip given.

I've re-written, compiled and set up an irc chat server also, as the old chat system was lost in the crash.

The java applet i'm still working on, but anyone can chat already

using this login data and any irc client software like mIRC:

irc server: 216.122.129.112 (later (www.)jfklancerforum.com )

port :6697 (if it doesn't connect try 6667, because I will make adjustments later)

no password yet needed on the chat function.

You may contact me there also, look for David Weaver channel.

Please set display options in user menu to "show all topics",

also if you have registered after august of 2003, you need to

re-register, but that function lacks the mail function, so the password

won't be send out.In fact anything that mails, like mail to member,

doesn't work yet.

Please also keep in mind, the forum is not yet open for real, any posts made might be get lost when I make the re-import later today.

Once we're back for real, every member who has registered before end of

august 2003, will be informed.

But you might want to participate in testing the functions, that will help me

save time.

Again, don't re-register if you have registered after august of 2003, because the

confirmation mail won't get send yet, until we have the DNS entry.

All posts made until we are fully functional will most probably be lost.

And also, we have the crashe harddrive send to us, so maybe I can get

the forum back to reflect the standings of sunday before last.

I will merge the posts in, which will be made between opening of the forum and

a possible data recovery, so that this posts will not be lost.

So please use the time to test and help Debra and me save time doing it alone.

You may also encounter temporary forum or chat function out of function at all,

that is because I have to do work and stop them from time to time.

I'm doing my best to get everything ready until tommorow.

please report any error's you encounter, that have not to do with e-mail function

to me at: uleybold@t-online.de

Things I can fix without asking back for more specific describtion, i will do without

contacting you back, that because it would keep me from concentrating on the

work. I hope that is accepted.

If you want me to contact you, please place the word "Urgent" in the title line of

your mail.

also any member that has attachments saved from the forum under the original

file name (example 2145.jpg), please contact me.

And one last thing:

There was/is no conspiracy involved in our forum crash, only bad luck and stupidity,this is said to anyone who say's different:

Please accept reality and what i've said and stated over the last 2 weeks, before making such a statements again.

I've invested too much time in order to get the site back, and I consider any

further statements in that regard a personal attack on me and my credibility.
