  1. I don't have a lot of experience with regard to websites aimed at students, as my main area of interest now is teacher training. The 600-odd hits per day that the ICT4LT site receives speaks for itself regarding the popularity of the site, but why do I get so little feedback from teachers who access it? The site is peppered with discussion topics, learning tasks and invitations to address questions to the site management team via a convenient feedback form, but we get no more than a dozen questions or requests for information per month - and about half of these have little to do with the topics discussed at the site. Conclusion: Web people are lurkers and don't appear to read very accurately. However, I do get enough congratulatory comments to convince me that I am doing a worthwhile job.

Ships captains rarely thank the weather service or the BBC shipping forecasts. So despite having a nice web-site, maybe you're in the same position.

  2. RACISM LIVES ON.

I received a copy of this supposed e-mail.  The author, supposedly, is a doctor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Missisippi.  The copy I received even included a cell phone and pager number.  It is very difficult for me to believe that a doctor would write garbage like this.  I intend to call him to see if it is true or if someone is playing a cruel joke misattributing these statements to him.  But if true it certainly demonstrates that racism still exists in this country even among educated people.

What the news does not show...

Thought I might inform the few friends I have on my recent traumatic experience. I am going to tell it straight, blunt, raw, and I don't give a damn. Long read, I know but please do read!!!

I went to volunteer on Saturday at the George R. Brown convention for two reasons.

A: I wanted to help people to get a warm fuzzy.

    B: Curiosity.

I've been watching the news lately and have seen scenes that have made me want to vomit. And no it wasn't dead bodies, the city under water, or the sludge everywhere. It was PEOPLE'S BEHAVIOR. The people on T.V., (99% being Black) were DEMANDING help. They were not asking nicely but demanding as if society owed these people something. Well the honest truth is WE DON'T.

Help should be asked for in a kind manner and then appreciated. This is not what the press (FOX in particular) was showing, what I was seeing was a group of people who are yelling, demanding, looting, killing, raping, and SHOOTING back at the demanded help!!!!! So I'm thinking this can't possibly be true can it???? So I decide to submit to the DEMAND for help out of SHOCK. I couldn't believe this to be true of the majority of the people who are the weakest of society. So I went to volunteer and help folks out and see the truth. So I will tell the following story and you decide:

I arrived at the astrodome only to find out that there were too many volunteers and that volunteers were needed at the George R. Brown Convention Center. As I was walking up to the Convention Center I noticed a line of cars that wrapped around blocks filled with donations. These were

ordinary Houstonians coming with truckloads and trunks full of water, diapers, clothes, blankets, food, all types of good stuff. And lots of it was NEW. I felt that warm fuzzy while helping unload these vehicles of these wonderful human beings. I then went inside the building and noticed

approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of clothes, shoes, jackets, toys and all types of goodies all organized and ready for the people in need. I signed up, received a name badge and was on my merry way excited to be useful.

I toured the place to get familiar with my surroundings; the entire place is probably around 2 million sq. ft. I noticed rows as far as the eye can see of mattresses, not cots, BLOW UP MATTRESSES!!! All of which had nice pillows and plenty of blankets. 2 to 3 bottles of water lay on every bed.

These full size to queen size beds by the way were comfortable, I laid in one to see for myself. I went to look at the medical area. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing!!! A makeshift hospital created in 24 hours!!! It was unbelievable, they even had a pharmacy. I also noticed that

they created showers, which would also have hot water. I went upstairs to the third floor to find a HUGE cafeteria created in under 24 hours! Rows of tables, chairs and food everywhere - enough to feed an army! I'm not talking about crap food either. They had Jason's deli food, apples, oranges, coke, diet coke, lemonade, orange juice, cookies, all types of chips and sandwiches. All the beverages by the way were put on ice and chilled!!!! In a matter of about 24 hours or less an entire mini-city was erected by volunteers for the poor evacuees. This was not your rundown crap

    shelter, it was BUM HEAVEN.

So that was the layout: great food, comfy beds, clean showers, free medical help, by the way there was a library, and a theatre room that I forgot to mention. Great stuff right????

Well here is what happened on my journey -

I started by handing out COLD water bottles to evacuees as they got off the bus. Many would take them and only 20% or less said thank you. Lots of them would shake their heads and ask for sodas! So this went on for about 20-30 minutes until I was sick of being an unappreciated servant. I figured

certainly these folks would appreciate some food!!! So I went upstairs to serve these beloved evacuees some GOOD food that I wish I could have at the moment!

***The following statements are graphic, truthful, and discuss UNRATIONAL behavior***

Evacuees come slowly to receive this mountain of food that is worth serving to a king! I tell them that we have 2 types of great deli sandwiches to choose from - ham and turkey. Many look at the food in disgust and DEMAND burgers, pizza, and even McDonalds!!!! Jason's deli is better than

McDonalds!!!! Only 1 out of ten people who took something would say "thank you" the rest took items as if it was their God give right to be served without a shred of appreciation!!! They would ask for Beer and liquor. They complained that we didn't have good enough food. They refused food and

laughed at us. They treated us volunteers as if we where SLAVES. No not all of them of course, but 70% did!!!!!! 20% were appreciative, 10% took the food without any comment and the other 70% had some disgusting comment to say. Some had the nerve to laugh at us. And when I snapped back at them for being mean, they would curse at me!!! Needless to say I was in utter shock. They would eat their food and leave their mess on the table. Some would pick up their stuff, many would leave it for the volunteers to pick up. I left that real quick to go down and help set up some more beds. I saw many young ladies carrying mattresses and I helped for a while. Then I realized something. There were hundreds of able bodied young men who could help!! I asked a group of young evacuees in their teens and early twenties to help. I got cursed at for asking them to help!!! One said "We just lost our xxxxing homes and you want us to work!!" The next said "Ya Cracker, you got a home we don't" I looked at them in disbelief. Here are women walking by carrying THEIR BEDS and they can't lift a finger and help themselves!!

WHY SHOULD I HELP PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO HELP THEMESELVES!!!!

I waved them off and turned away and was laughed at and more "white boy jokes" were made at me. I felt no need to waste my breath on a bunch of pitiful losers. I went to a nearby restroom where I noticed a man shaving. I used the restroom, washed my hands and saw this man throw his razor

towards the trash can...he missed. he walked out leaving his disgusting razor on the floor for some other "cracker" to pick up. Even the little kids were demanding. I saw only ONE white family and only TWO Hispanic families. The rest where blacks. Sorry 20% to 30% decent blacks, and 70% LOSERS!!!!!

I would call them N*****S, but the actual definition of a n*****r is one who is ignorant, these people were not ignorant..they were ARROGANT ASSHOLES. The majority of which are thugs and lifetime lazy ass welfare recipients. We are inviting the lowest of the low to Houston. And like idiots we are serving the people who will soon steal our cars, rape, murder, and destroy our city while stealing from our pockets on a daily basis through the welfare checks they take. We will fund our own destruction.

By "US" I don't mean a specific race, I mean the people who work hard, work smart, have values and morals. Only people who want to help themselves should be helped, the others should be allowed to destroy themselves. I do not want to work hard, give the government close to half the money I earn

so they can in turn give it to a bunch of losers.

I don't believe in being poor for life. My family immigrated here, we came here poor, and now thank God, and due to HARD WORK we are doing fine. If immigrants, who come here, don't know the language can work and become successful... WHY CAN'T THE MAJORITY OF THE HOMEGROWN DO IT!!! If we continue to reward these losers then we will soon destroy our great country. I just witnessed selfish, arrogant, unappreciative behavior by the very people who need help the most. Now these same people who cursed me, refused my cities generosity, who refuse to help  Themselves are DEMANDING handouts on their own terms!!!!!!! They prance around as if they are owed something, and when they do receive a handout, they say it's not good enough!

Well you know what… these types of people can go to hell for all I care!

  3. I really do not know which thread to pick up.

What really infuriates me are the comments about the Greens. I suppose the postings are based on either complete ignorance or prejudice. Mistakes have been made in the Ukraine and maybe in other places and their is a parliamentary committee lokking into that; by the way the origins of the mistakes made go back to the early 1990's when Helmut Kohl was Bundeskanzler.

I think that there definitely will be no coalition including the left party and even though quite a large section of the German people demonstrated against the reforms initiated by the government (the number taking to the streets shortly after Hartz IV was implemented dwindeled rapidly) by an even larger number knows that our welfare state has to be modernized wif we want it to survive. This can only be done by reducing state expenditure, by reforming our tax system and lowering the taxes, by reforming our pension system. The result will be that the individual citizen will have to take care of him-/herself more when it comes to health care, preparing for retirement and loss of job. For many who grew up in an over-caring and over-protecting nanny state this is difficult to understand and accept. One should not forget that despite the reforms and despite the high number of unemployed we have a very high living standard and even the unemployed are still well cared for.

To give you one example: I personally do not think that asking someone who is unemployed to leave his/her hometown and work somewhere else is asking too much - but many of the unemployed (not all) are not willing to move to another place in Germany to get a job.

On a slight side-track, I heard TV 'pundits' discussing the impasse, and noting it had only happened once before in Germany, during the 1960s. It made me wonder what kind of history that person had studied

I do not know what that means because post-war Germany only had one grand coalition from 1966 till 1969. Due to the experiences made then many feel highly uncomfortable with the idea of a grand coalition. As all other options (traffic light coalition or Jamaican coalition) seem to be impossible or not wanted by the FDP and/or the Greens three things are possible:

    1. a grand coalition

    2. new election if the neither candidate is elected by the new Bundestag

    3. a minority red-green government tolerated and supported by the left.

I would say prejudice is is a factor. The German govt. has not been of much assistance to us in relation to the Czech Republic.

The Green Party are the dyed in the wool enemies of the anti-slavery movement, both constituencies have a settled aversion to the other.

The Green Party always side with the pimps, they do it in Germany, they do it in New Zealand, they ubiquitously promote prostitution.

My job is to investigate Ukrainian slavery networks, however I do defer to your other views on Germany's political prospects.

  4. I was not under the impression that members were expected to go with the flow and criticize the Catholic Church as a factor of group-think.

I don't understand you. All I said was that your recent posts to this thread -- and most of the other recent posts -- appear to have nothing whatsoever to do with abortion in Nazi Germany.

If making this point makes me anti-Catholic and pro-abortion, I must be missing something...

The original article was about the Catholic Church as it began and at its end it was still about the Catholic Church, the theme was consistent.

The 'go with the flow remark' related to the Catholic themed content of the original article which began the thread rather than any later contributions.

  5. I'm getting more and more worried about the direction the forum is taking. Every time I see a thread with an interesting title, like this one or the "just war" one and decide to take a look, I find that it's been hi-jacked by people who seem to have no interest whatever in the purported title of the thread...

This, along with the preponderance of threads referring to a wide variety of supposed political conspiracies, is, I think, detracting from what ought to be the fundamentally "educational" slant of the forum...

When the thread started it was about Catholicism. Other people including at least one Catholic subsequently proceeded along the original lines.

By the time it arrived at a discussion about Canada it was still rooted to the original theme. I made a positive comment about a pro-Vatican magazine.

I was not under the impression that members were expected to go with the flow and criticize the Catholic Church as a factor of group-think.

  6. Greg,

How can one not feel the hate.  It's palpable.  Note the urgency to labeling, to name calling, often with profanity.  Note it's immediacy.  Hang in...these brickbats are rhetorical whiffle balls hurled by useful idiots.

The most poignant section of the article:

"The list of goals, however innocuous and noble they may sound on the surface, will be recognized by pro-life UN-watchers as the usual roster of projects used by the UN’s population and eugenics activists as a smokescreen. They are the standard tools for the universal imposition of abortion, sterilization, the destruction of the family and religious freedom and the erosion of the sovereign rights of independent nations. "

I would like to congratulate you on your reference material. Life for one or two liberals in Canada might get just a little exciting in a couple of weeks.

The old narrative of corruption, child pornography, trafficking of children and organized crime, always organized crime with the Canadian govt.

And as many missing girls as Ciudad Juárez - The Canadian Liberals are a lot of things, nice and safe babysitters are not two of them.

    Gregory

Gregory, just for the sake of clarity, you are, are you not suggesting that ALL Canadian liberals are potential, if not actual, child molestors. straight yes or no will surfice on this :)

I am sure most reasonable people will agree the impropriety & wickedness of the Liberal Party of Canada has to be viewed as the work of politicians.

In a couple of weeks there will be more scandals in the news. I do not believe there is any useful point anticipating the sordid detail here.

I feel we need to re-track this thread away from the Liberal Party of Canada and back towards the original topic of discussion.

  7. I'm sorry if I'm being obtuse, but what does any of this have to do with "just wars"?

I agree. Gregory has done the same thing in the Abortion and Nazi Germany thread. He is beginning to sound like Tim Gratz with his constant hijacking of threads to argue that Castro killed JFK. Gregory seems to have a fixation about sex criminals. If you continue with this strategy I will start deleting your posts. By all means start your own threads concerning your sexual problems, we are very tolerant on this forum and we realise that people need an outlet for their dark thoughts, however, do not try to take over those of other members.

Gregory, you still have not posted a photograph as your avatar. You are receiving your final warning, do it or your membership will be suspended.

The Green Party do the darkest thoughts. They are the party of slavery in more or less every part of the world they have an office. In Germany they are connected to the biggest outbreak of forced labour since Organization Todt.

The thread issue for this particular discussion related to the diminishing feminist bona fides of the broadcaster Democracy Now and the conversation was therefore likely to focus on the legitimate feminist complaints about DN.

  8. I'm sorry if I'm being obtuse, but what does any of this have to do with "just wars"?

    The issue

The standing of Democracy Now within the context of anti-war feminism. It was argued that the broadcasters were popular amongst feminists.

I work with feminists from all shades of political opinion and DN are widely thought to be going tabloid and to have climbed into bed with the porn people.

    End of issue

  9. The Greens are supported by Ukrainian 'interests' and the sooner the brothel-keeping elements are out of political influence the better.

What is this supposed to mean. As Sigmund Freud once said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

Once Germany worked like a clock & then the Green Party arrived. Ukrainian & e-bloc crime interests have attached themselves to politics.

Joschka Fischer & colleagues are connected with the issuing of visas to Ukranian organized crime figures for the slave trade.

German consulates in Ukraine issued thousands of visas to criminals, members of people-trafficking gangs and sex slavery syndicates.

Around a million visas have been issued to Ukrainians in recent years and it has had an impact on the quality of life of ordinary Germans.

Work Permits UK in Sheffield & Home Office also allowed Ukrainian racketeers to infiltrate the British system in relation to the Sector Based Scheme.

Ukrainians have to pay racketeers to get onto the Home Office SBS scheme. The people extorting cash from victims ply their trade via shell agencies.

  10. I am not well-informed of gay marriage being popular (anywhere) as something homosexuals will want to do in considerable numbers.

FINE, THEN LETS DO WHAT YOU RIGHT WINGERS LOVE TO CLAIM IS THE ANSWER TO ALL OF LIFE'S LITTLE PROBLEMS, MAKE IT LEGAL, AND LET THE MARKET DECIDE...Steve.

    I think it's an Edsel.

Why gay marriage should stand for gay rights is strange. Queer politics fought for sexual ideas and to destroy family & patriarchy. There are now radical and assimilationist camps within the gay rights movement.

Gay marriage was important to the re-election campaign of President Bush, there were no jobs for Ohio, but the freak-show will eat your kids, so vote correctly and many people did vote for the idea of authentic family.

  12. I just spent my first day as a member of our school's new technology committee learning about a source that I will push my school to subscribe to.

It is United Streaming, a resource to get video clips, clip art and I believe videos downloaded from the new or directly viewed from site.

It provides guidance in converting these clips into video links on power point presentations.  perhaps I am too excited about this still and overestimate the ease of use, but I have been looking for exactly this since I have been looking for  ways to use IT in the classroom.

It breaks down a lot of education videos into small clips from 1 minute to some being full length. (at least an hour long in one case I looked at today)

You can get a 60-day subscription to the service here in the US and perhaps everywhere.

    United Streaming

You mean it helps compress something that is 60 mins via story-boarding to a shorter span for a different format? Similar idea to the library music you can get for advertising? The ease of use part caught my eye.

  13. I recommend anyone who believes that to watch one Democracy Now! program and make up their own mind.

I do not measure stuff as right/left or whatever, I wrecked Joe Arpaio's jailcam & COPS link-up business without blinking over the electoral college aspects.

I meet mothers who have 8 year old daughters who want to be lap-dancers or porn stars when they grown up. DN is for the pro-pornography camp.

I am often asked to find girls who are dead. I work with young girls forced by pimps to make sex films in Prague, Budapest etc. for '18' content in the USA.

  14. The result is different from what was expected. I cannot see how the CDU can form a government. Any chance of the SPD joining forces with the Greens and Left Party?

    CDU/CSU: 35.2% (225 seats)

    SPD: 34.3% (222)

    Free Democrats: 9.8% (61)

    Left Party: 8.7% (54)

    Greens: 8.1% (51)

    A new election perhaps instead.

The Greens are supported by Ukrainian 'interests' and the sooner the brothel-keeping elements are out of political influence the better.

Added later in the interests of cigars & clarity

The Green Party in Germany are very sympathetic to brothel-keepers & pimps.

An estimated 400,000 prostitutes work in Germany. Germany's lax visa rule was also applied to countries such as Albania and Kosovo.

Germany has acute unemployment & handing out a million visas to Ukrainians did not make any sense within the context of mass unemployment.

  15. Terry, these people dont qualify for the term Human Beings, They are excrement, simple excrement. Hymn singing, God bothering, savages, with no more empathy in their shriveled souls than boiled cabbage. If thats what being a "Christian" means, then i am proud to be an atheist. Still look on the bright side, if they are right, about God, and I am wrong it means they get to spend ETERNITY burning in Hell.

    *******************************************************************

Absolutely! Anyone allowing themselves to be dominated by fundamentalism in the religious sense of the word, be it: Christian, Islamic, Judaic, etc., are willingly subjecting themselves to superstitious nonsense of the nth degree. Besides lacking the basic wherewithal necessary to think outside, what is present term being tossed around today, the proverbial "box"? Organized fundamentalism, whatever religious affiliation, is nothing more than organized mind control on a massive scale.

I suppose that's why televised evangelism is so popular due to the mass hypnosis elicited in the Pavlovian response so blatantly apparent in the "sheeple" of its various "flocks". But, that's JMHO.

Liberals in the United States are just as subject to 'mind control' by their kinship with fanatics as their opponents on the Christian right.

Sex-ed & education is a case in point. The liberals have burdened themselves with as much extreme politics and junk science as the other side.

Sex-ed advocates in the United States are collaborating with libertarian proselytizers in Holland as they seek to import sex programmes.

Many of the Dutch sex-ed activists oppose interference in any erotic relations and opponents (such as myself) are branded as the worst kind of social criminal.

To associate with advocates of 'voluntary' pedophile relationships and other deviant phenomena is to provoke horror in the ranks of family people.

Queer science is also often nonsense of the nth degree, it is as contrived and deranged as the worst aspects of literal creationism.

The fake 'gay' research is accepted as literal truth by liberals and may destiny protect any teacher (regardless of politics) brave enough to cry error.

In Canada a teacher publicly opposed to the most fraudulent of the libertarian ideology could be bankrupted and forced from the profession.

I prefer to stay outside the realm of left/right conflict in my work, I have to make sense of criminal events with police, state security and bureaucrats.

The last solid baiting I had from a govt. in the last six months was in relation to 'the beautiful game' and I was portrayed as a person 'with a grudge'.

To shout 'vetting' in relation to British football was to volunteer to be castigated as a despicable traitor to the sceptred isle.

  16. From the September 13 (or 14?) New York Times:

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 - President Bush said on Tuesday that he bore responsibility for any failures of the federal government in its response to Hurricane Katrina and suggested that he was unsure whether the country was adequately prepared for another catastrophic storm or terrorist attack.

Perhaps the Bush-bashers on the Forum will now see the man in a different light.  I think the problem was in the first place created by failures at the local level but from what I am reading the recently resigned FEMA head was too caught up in red tape.  I will admit that the POTUS should have realized this sooner than he did and it appears he now understands that as well.

But again the initial response to a natural disaster is always on the local level.  Perhaps there ought to be co-ordination between various localities so that, for instance and simply hypothetically, New Orleans could have learned from the hurricane plan of Miami.  Although, as pointed out in previous posts, New Orleans did indeed have a plan and the problem may have arisen from the failure of the City to implement its plan as the disaster approached.

"But again the initial response to a natural disaster is always on the local level. Tim, has this always been the case? Or, to phrase it another way, has it always been a matter of states' rights over federal intervention? Why do I equate the gov.'s inability to respond to the disaster a matter of the intense de-regulatory processes set in place during the Reagan regime? Or, does that have anything at all, whatsoever, to do with it?

The US system of governance is complex administratively. The local states often behave like sovereign countries.

Arizona has addressed foreign diplomats and leaders on the VCCR and blocked the US govt. in relation to the systemic rape of women prisoners in Az.

Governor Engler of Michigan once told the media the US govt. and the United Nations were (collectively) out to get his administration.

  17. Confusing two issues.

One: to oppose the Stalinist regime was seen (by them) as believing in a return to capitalism. I certainly do not believe that. I doubt Milan Kundera did either but he can speak for himself!

Two: to have a genuine difference of opinion with other people in the anti war movement does not weaken your opposition to the war. Moreover Democracy Now! is used as a platform by many of the main opponents of the war. They were virtually alone in the craven American media in giving a platform to Nader despite the vicious opposition of the Democrats.

Amy Goodman is the first to acknowledge that there are different opinions in the anti war movement but to allow that to prevent us from acting together would be to play into the hands of Bush and Blair. (and to suppress those differences of opinion would be equally undemocratic)

Democracy Now is used by pornographers and pro-prostitution fanatics. Public sex is a key indicator of a propensity to offend against children.

The definition of authentic solidarity should not require a campaign to keep the right-minded collaborating with pornographers.

The Czech state has major issues with paedophilia and its school system, a culture of toleration has contributed to the unsatisfactoriness of the problem.

  18. One of the problems with pornography is that the state will use laws against pornography to suppress dissent. The Czech government banned Milan Kundera not because of his mildly erotic prose but his full frontal opposition to the Soviet invasion.

And it is disingenuous mendacity to say that the antiwar movement rejects the support of Democracy Now! because of genuine and principled differences of opinion over this issue.

A war of the working class against its oppressors is a just war. And that is about it. Both the pacifism (when appropriate) and the militarism of the ruling class serve the same ends.

DN is hated by many feminists who are also opposed to the war. Pornography is as important to many feminists as any other problem.

Now the communists have gone the Czech Republic has teddy bears in the brothel windows of Cheb, how much progress is that?

  19. "A bigger parish my Irish arse.

I took a call last Thursday wth *demands* from US child protection advocacy asking me to reduce the amount of child pornography British education was feeding onto the networks.

OK Gregory, perhaps you would like to cite a few examples of the Child pornography that British education is feeding onto the networks, if you cant do this may I respectfully ask you to witdraw your above statement? These people from the US child protection advocacy, wouldn't be the same people who think that Harry Potter Encourages Devil worship would they? Steve.

The engine establishing the levels of educator sexual misconduct in primary or early learning is directly related to the perecentage of active paedophiles within the general population.

If you estimate the latter figure, we can usefully work out how many the vetting and barring system removes. If you can do a little research and are feeling helpful, you should be able to tell me how big a problem it is.

  20. Why on earth should I withdraw the statement? How much sex crime will 400,000 teachers and school employees be associated with?

The gender ratio is universally the most significant aspect for estimating future levels of sexual abuse within the context of early years education.

The UK has traditionally used 'allegation' based vetting procedures and that risk strategy will anchor the level of sexual misconduct to male recruitment.

(The efficiency of vetting & barring systems is poor generally & in Britain will probably not register more than 3 percent of the paedophiles in education.)

It is not uncommon given the nature of such things, for British teachers to film children and exchange the photography with other predators.

I can think of recent UK examples which have been reported by national and local media. The abuses often involve significant numbers of children.

It does not take a train-load of culprits to exchange material via the internet & paedophile networks, for hundreds of British children to be affected.

The DfES is reluctant to address the problem. The British govt. have been under continuous pressure for at least a year to do something concrete.

The UK has systemic problems with educator sexual misconduct. The British govt. have never quite managed in the past to grasp the nettle.

The risk management in Cambridgeshire is a good example of how the British authorities have lost the plot in relation to 'trusted professional' abuse.

Bravo, a fine example of appearing to say a lot, whilst actually saying nothing.

How about a few facts, you know cite some actual cases, give some statistics, that sort of thing. You say,"how much sex crime will 400,00 teachers be associated with". well why dont you answer your own question, tell us so we can see if its above what is known of other groups, Biulders, long distance lorry drivers, clowns, or how about Catholic preists. You say " I can think of recent UK examples" Well of course you can, nobody is pretending that it doesn't happen, but once again no concrete examples are offered, for all I know you could be making this up from "whole cloth"Stop the know all pronouncements and give us the FACTS. Oh and BTW, I notice you didn't answer my question about the advocate group you mention, who are they, who funds them, is their orientation of a right wing nature, are they NGO, where do they obtain their statistics from. You right wingers love to bash teachers dont you, pretend they are responsible for all society's evils, well perhaps you should try looking a bit closer to home for a change. and before you ask, no I am not a teacher. Steve.

If Ruth Kelly could read the same post you are having a problem with, the British Govt. could avoid a lot of political unpleasantness which is heading in that direction. The DfES has to face reality.

Teachers in the UK would be the only profession that makes the statistics. Other vocations such as clergy are not really a major factor. Teachers would be up there with step-fathers and cohabiting boyfriends.

I am a survivor of educator sexual misconduct. Thousands of children are sexually abused by teachers in the United Kingdom.

In the USA, public school teachers would be responsible for a hundred times more sex abuse than clergy. In the US they probably imprison more teachers in a few weeks than the UK is likely to do in a couple of years.

In developed countries, sex abuse is usually as common an issue as pregnancy or bullying concerns with advice helplines etc.

  21. Oh well, I know I shouldn't but here goes.

    (1) Its a Womans individual right to choose. Do you seriously believe that banning abortion would make the problem go away.It would simply mean a return to "Back street abortionist's" Then watch the body count rise.

    (2) Isnt it strange, that the very people who proclaim with such certainty that the state cant possibly save peoples Jobs-nieghbourhoods by direct intervention, are the same people who cant wait to "get busy" with abortion, gay marrage, right to die, etc. it seems to me that the very places were individual freedoms are needed, are the places that the state seeks to deny them.

I know this is an issue where feelings run both high and deep, and I certainly dont pretend to have all the answers. But like it or not, its the womans choise, and having decided on this painful course of action, she needs our support, not our vilification... All the best ..Steve.

The right to chose is just an idea, it may be reflected legislatively in some jurisdictions or it might not, in which case abortion may not be allowed.

WELL UNDER THOSE RESTRICTIONS, IS NOT ANYTHING "JUST AN IDEA"FREEDOM OF SPEECH,LIBERTY, JUSTICE ETC..

The relationship between abortion and choice is not universal, female feticide in China and India for example is not really about choice.

WHO THE HELL SAID THEY WERE,STICK TO THE TOPIC WITHOUT BRING IN FELATIOUS ARGUEMENTS....

The euthanasia of infants and abortion will possibly be merged in Holland in order to protect doctors who are already doing both.

i HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS STATEMENT MEANS.

The right to die will ultimately turn into a reality TV show. Gay marriage is probably not something the vast majority of homosexuals will want to do.

PLEASE CITE YOUR EVIDENCE FOR THE ABOVE CLAIMS...........

The right to be free of heterosexual tyranny as manifested by gender specific lavatories might be an example of what can be possible.

I am not well-informed of gay marriage being popular (anywhere) as something homosexuals will want to do in considerable numbers.

Steve.  B)
