List Of Settler-initiated Crimes Against Palestinians In The Last Few Weeks

I have been to the West Bank, I have seen with my own eyes how the settlers walk around with machine guns, terrorizing the native Palestinian population. They are only in the West Bank to justify a continued Israeli military presence there; and they are armed to the teeth.

Where did the settlers get their machine guns from? Where did the settlers learn that it is OK to hate Palestinians, that their presence in the OPT is justified even if it comes with the wholesale subjugation of a people? The settlers, the majority of them are trouble-makers who need to be removed from the Palestinian territories, asap.

The killing of the settlers was simply a reminder to everyone meeting in Washington that they cannot continue to ignore the democratically elected leadership of Gaza, no matter how despicable the West and Israel may find them. Most Palestinians, apparently with the exception of Mahmoud Abbas and his cronies, find all Israeli leadership to be even more despicable, more criminal and more violent than Hamas—but alas, they are left with no choice but to deal with them, no matter how many innocent Palestinians they have murdered.

Please don’t accuse me of advocating vigilante justice, because I don’t. But, those settlers are illegally squatting on Palestinian land, and the list of those responsible for what happened to them yesterday must include near the top the Israeli leadership that lured them from around the world into living in cheap, government subsidized housing with all kinds of welfare benefits so that Israel can continue its illegal military presence in the West Bank. Golda Meir said that there couldn’t be peace until the Arabs learned to love their children more than they hate Israelis… I posit that there won’t be peace until the Israelis learn to love their children more than they love the continued theft of Palestinian land.

And all of this talk of “why, why, why did Hamas do this?” Take a look at this list of settler initiated crimes against Palestinians from the last few weeks. What type of superhuman moral restraint do you expect Palestinians to continue? How long must they be intimidated by these thugs before they strike back? How long would Americans tolerate this sort of thuggish behavior before they fought back?

    Suffer the Little Children

    Jesus said:

Mark 10:14 Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God.15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Mt 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Mt 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

Mt 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Mr 9:42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

Lu 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

The primary purpose of this study is to webucate Christians about child discipline and child rearing. Please do not automatically tune me out if you do not agree with me. Take this to the Lord with an open heart and talk to Him about it. If you have questions, feel free to email Joan Vasquez. (http://suffer-the-little-children.webs.com/)

By Joan's 15 year old daughter, Victoria S. (Copyright 2007)

In Matthew 19:14, Jesus tells the Disciples to let the children come to Him. It's clear that Jesus loves children, and they are important to Him.

In verse 13, it says that the children were brought to Him. Who were these people bringing the children to Jesus? They were most likely parents or caretakers who loved their children enough to guide them to the Truth.

Two thousand years later, Jesus' love is still the same. A few fortunate children get to experience the love of Christ in their daily lives. Most however, do not. Sadly, there are many young children who do not know what real love is. They do not know Christ's love, oftentimes they do not even know parental love.

When I look back at the first few years of my life, I see that the experiences I had then were very crucial to making me who I am today. This causes me to realize that the influences and experiences every child has will help to determine who he or she becomes later on in their lives.

Everything that happens from the time someone can remember, (or in some instances, before they can remember) leaves some type of imprint on their mind. Some imprints are good and some are bad. We need to make good imprints on childrens' minds when it comes to teaching them about Christ and Christianity.

My conclusion to this rambling, and probably confusing thought is this: Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of Heaven."

My point is... It's our job as Christians to lead them and maybe not just our own children, but children who aren't raised in Christian homes, who need us as loving examples to lead them to the Way, the Truth, and the Life, which is Christ.

  3. Long time no hear (Aug 7 was a number of days ago and you said you would get back when you find the time) on false flag. Len my friend ,GOVERMENTS (examples:Turkey,Italy,Egypt,Pakistan, and even European Parliament !!!!! ) NOT,NOT JUST -conspiracy posters- believe in FLASE FLAG operations.

    ********************************************************************* ;)

Operation Gladio is undisputed historical fact. Gladio was part of a post-World War II program set up by the CIA and NATO supposedly to thwart future Soviet/communist invasions or influence in Italy and Western Europe. In fact, it became a state-sponsored right-wing terrorist network, involved in false flag operations and the subversion of democracy.

The existence of Gladio was confirmed and admitted by the Italian government in 1990, after a judge, Felice Casson, discovered the network in the course of his investigations into right-wing terrorism. Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti admitted Gladio’s existence but tried to minimize its significance.

The main function of the Gladio-style groups, in the absence of Soviet invasion, seems to have been to discredit left-wing groups and politicians through the use of “the strategy of tension,” including false-flag terrorism. The strategy of tension is a concept for control and manipulation of public opinion through the use of fear, propaganda, agents provacateurs, terrorism, etc. The aim was to instill fear into the populace while framing communist and left-wing political opponents for terrorist atrocities.

Prev Next image 1 of 3 Gladio and its “stay-behind” networks may be one of the most historically “accepted” or “confirmed” examples of false-flag terrorism. The documentation, the resolutions, confessions, and convictions all confirm that Gladio is much more than the media or government would have you believe—a mere “conspiracy theory.” See the State Department’s special site dedicated to dismissing “conspiracy theories,” including their page on Gladio.

Truth movers should take advantage of Gladio and the stay-behind networks as a confirmed precedent of the US and western governments participating in ruthless terrorist attacks against their own people in order instill fear, control the population, and frame left-wing political opponents. People who believe that such things do not or cannot happen should be forcefully made aware of such examples as Operation Gladio.

    Evidence

■The August 2, 1980 bombing of the Bologna train station which killed 85 people, is widely recognized as a Gladio operation. While it was initially blamed on the communist “Red Brigades,” eventually, right-wing and fascists elements were discoverd to be the culprits. Two Italian secret service agents and Licio Gelli, the head of the infamous P2 Masonic lodge, were convicted in connection to the bombing. 1

■“The makings of the bomb… came from an arsenal used by Gladio… according to a parliamentary commission on terrorism… The suggested link with the Bologna massacre is potentially the most serious of all the accusations levelled against Gladio, and comes just two days after the Italian Prime Minister, Giulio Andreotti, cleared Gladio’s name in a speech to parliament, saying that the secret army did not drift from its formal Nato military brief” The Guardian January 16, 1991 1

■1969: “In Italy, the Piazza Fontana massacre in Milan kills 16 and injures and maims 80 [….] during a trial of rightwing extremists General Giandelio Maletti, former head of Italian counterintelligence, alleges that the massacre had been carried out by the Italian stay-behind army and rightwing terrorists on the orders of the US secret service CIA in order to discredit Italian Communists.” 10

■1985: “In Belgium, a secret army attacks and shoots shoppers in supermarkets randomly in the Brabant county killing 28 and leaving many wounded. Investigations link the terror to a conspiracy among the Belgian stay-behind SDRA8, the Belgian Gendarmerie SDRA6, the Belgian right-wing group WNP and the Pentagon secret service DIA.” 10

■According to Vincenzo Vinciguerra, a far-right terrorist linked to Gladio and currently serving a life-sentence for the car bomb murder of 3 policement, “The reason was quite simple. They were supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security. This is the political logic that lies behind all the massacres and the bombings which remain unpunished, because the state cannot convict itself or declare itself responsible for what happened.” 6

■Vinciguerra also made this statement to The Guardian, “The terrorist line was followed by camouflaged people, people belonging to the security apparatus, or those linked to the state apparatus through rapport or collaboration. I say that every single outrage that followed from 1969 fitted into a single, organised matrix… Avanguardia Nazionale, like Ordine Nuovo (the main right-wing terrorist group active during the 1970s), were being mobilised into the battle as part of an anti-communist strategy originating not with organisations deviant from the institutions of power, but from within the state itself, and specifically from within the ambit of the state’s relations within the Atlantic Alliance.” 1

■In 1990, the European Parliament passed a resolution condemning Gladio. The resolution requested full investigations and a total dismantlement of the paramilitary structures involved—neither of which have come to pass.

■Similar Gladio-like operations have been discovered across Europe, including France, Belgium, Denmark, The Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Switzerland…:ph34r::ph34r:

Well, by golly that sounds like a pretty good idea. Meanwhile I’ll enjoy my freedom of not being able to see some documents that would destroy “National Security”. Or would they? I think they wouldn’t. I’m so free I can get to speculate, because they would prefer that. It’s good to be free.

For years people have been asking, “who was that guy asking Cheney “Do the orders still stand?” in the PEOC. Did the 9-11 Commission even talk to him? Well, his name is Doug Cochrane and the 9-11 Commission did talk to him on April 16, 2004.

This is gone into more detail here…

    http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=181511.0

From notes and emails of the 9-11 Commission…..

    “March 2, 2004

    New Requests:

(2)VP Military Aide (I believe his last name is Cochrane): The person at the Vice President’s side in the PEOC who should have been intimately involved in the military communications chain is his military aide.”

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/15740811/DM-B8-Team-8-Fdr-Email-From-Hyde-to-Front-Office-Re-White-House-Day-of-Investigation-511

From their footnotes, telling me exactly what to request thru FOIA…

    “215. Douglas Cochrane meeting (Apr. 16, 2004);”

    http://www.9-11commission.gov/report/911Report_Notes.pdf

They wont let us see his answers, but they are nice enough to let us see what they discussed with him….you can see what topics they covered with him on page 7/14 of the following….

    “ACCESS RESTRICTED

The item identified below has been withdrawn from this file:

    Folder Title: White House Timelines”

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/14274489/DH-B3-White-House-Timelines-Fdr-Entire-Contents-Doug-Cochrane-and-14-Withdrawal-Notice-for-Draft-Time-Lines-089

What was withdrawn, were his answers.

I’m enjoying my freedom. The freedom to not see Cochrane’s answers.

BTW, want to see what it’s like for Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney to be caught in a lie?

They lied to us shortly after the 9-11 attacks. They told us within minutes of being aware we were under attack on 9-11, Bush and Rumsfeld issued shoot down orders.

“Minutes after terrorists crashed hijacked planes into the World Trade Center, President Bush ordered military jets into the air around Washington with orders to shoot down any airliner that refused to turn away from the city, Vice President Richard B. Cheney said yesterday.”

    http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=WT&p_theme=wt&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EE9861D0C1AD826&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM

This is called getting caught in a lie, he didn’t give the order minutes later…he gave the order when it was confirmed the last plane went down in shanksville……

“The time of notification of the crash of United 93 was 10:15.”

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5233007

“The Vice President was logged calling the President at 10:18 for a two-minute conversation that obtained the confirmation. On Air Force One, the President’s press secretary was taking notes; Ari Fleischer recorded that at 10:20, the President told him that he had authorized a shootdown of aircraft if necessary.”

    - 9-11 Commission

    http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/911/report/911Report_Ch1.htm

“Fleischer’s 10:20 note is the first mention of shootdown authority. See White House notes,Ari Fleischer notes, Sept. 11, 2001; see also Ari Fleischer interview (Apr. 22, 2004).” – 9-11 Commission

    http://www.9-11commission.gov/report/911Report_Notes.pdf

“This series, by Post reporters Bob Woodward and Dan Balz, is based on interviews with President Bush, Vice President Cheney and other key officials.”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/18/AR2006071801175_5.html

Watch as they use Woodward of the Washington post to lie to us. The reason for the lie is Bush and Rumsfeld are the only ones authorized to issue shoot down orders. It doesn’t matter if Cheney EVER did. He doesn’t have the authority…..as the 9-11 commission rightly points out…

“Prior to 9/11, it was understood that an order to shoot down a commercial aircraft would have to be issued by the National Command Authority (a phrase used to describe the president and secretary of defense).” page 17/46

    http://www.9-11commission.gov/report/911Report.pdf

So what did they tell Woodward of the Washington post (and us?)….

“Bush then talked to Rumsfeld to clarify the procedures military pilots should follow in trying to force an unresponsive plane to the ground before opening fire on it. First, pilots would seek to make radio contact with the other plane and tell the pilot to land at a specific location. If that failed, the pilots were to use visual signals. These included having the fighters fly in front of the other plane.

If the plane continued heading toward what was seen as a significant target with apparently hostile intent, the U.S. pilot would have the authority to shoot it down. With Bush’s approval, Rumsfeld passed the order down the chain of command.”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/18/AR2006071801175_5.html

ooops……..the 9-11 Commission asked them about that, because they had the documents and records proving it was a lie….are they going to tell this lie to the commission? No…..they will get amnesia….

“The President apparently spoke to Secretary Rumsfeld for the first time that morning shortly after 10:00. No one can recall the content of this conversation, but it was a brief call in which the subject of shootdown authority was NOT discussed.” – 9-11 Commission

    http://www.9-11commission.gov/report/911Report.pdf

“At 10:10, the pilots over Washington were emphatically told “negative clearance to shoot.” Shootdown authority was first communicated to NEADS at 10:31.”

    http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/911/report/911Report_Ch1.htm

That’s called getting caught in a lie.

How about some transparency? I have a request in for the testimony of Steven Butler, the FBI handler of the informant who was housing some of the 9-11 hijackers.

“Several members were “appalled” at what informed sources described as the “explosive” testimony of Special Agent Steven Butler, who recently retired from the FBI after his final posting in the bureau’s San Diego field office.”

    http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/features/saudi_021129.htm

“Government officials told U.S. News that Butler disclosed that he had been monitoring a flow of Saudi Arabian money that wound up in the hands of two of the 9/11 hijackers. The two men had rented a room from a man Butler had used as a confidential informant, the sources say. According to officials familiar with his account, Butler said that he had alerted his superiors about the money flows but the warning went nowhere. “Butler is claiming … that people [in the FBI] didn’t follow up,” says a congressional source. Adds another: “He saw a pattern, a trail, and he told his supervisors, but it ended there.”

    http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/features/saudi_021129.htm

“After Butler testified, Eleanor Hill, the staff director for the 9/11 committee, detailed his statements in a memo to the Justice Department. Justice officials, saying Butler’s testimony is classified, declined comment.”

    http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/features/saudi_021129.htm

And it’s still classified, and I’m still waiting for why it is. The real answer IMO is because Bush buddy Prince Bandar was a source of this money trail. And what is also interesting is…..

“Butler said that he had alerted his superiors about the money flows but the warning went nowhere. “Butler is claiming … that people [in the FBI] didn’t follow up,” says a congressional source. Adds another: “He saw a pattern, a trail, and he told his supervisors, but it ended there.”

    http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/features/saudi_021129.htm

His superiors would include the head of the FBI at the time. Which would be Louis Freeh. Who suddenly resigned from the FBI in June 2001, he was bought by Bandar….

“WASHINGTON — Former FBI Director Louis J. Freeh says $2 billion that flowed from a British arms manufacturer to U.S. bank accounts controlled by Prince Bandar bin Sultan, then Saudi ambassador to the U.S., was not a bribe, but was instead part of a complex barter involving the exchange of Saudi oil for British fighter jets.”

“The transfer of funds to accounts at Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C., has come under scrutiny as the Justice Department continues an international corruption investigation involving British arms manufacturer BAE Systems. Freeh, who is now a lawyer and consultant for Bandar”

    http://articles.latimes.com/2009/apr/07/nation/na-freeh7

I’m enjoying my freedom of not being able to see Butler’s testimony.

To slightly reshape the putty of History.

    1. Afghanistan gave women the right to vote around the same time Swizerland did. Check it out.

    2. Afghanistan had never experienced total civil war until the USA armed Landlords and Fundmentalists who were rebelling against a Socialist Regime implementing gender and agrarian equity. 1979.

    3. It took 150 years for the USA to give women the right to vote, 175 for Indigenous Peoples.

4.The Taliban had pacified Afghanistan and ended twenty years of War inflamed by the USA since 1979.

    5. Afghanistan more or less borders China.

6.The Corruption in Afghanistan is part and parcel of the USA invasion as in Iraq.

    7. The British Attacked Afghanistan Three times and won the last time and split up Pastunstan into Half (to British Controled Pakistan (Hindustan). To Block Czarist Russia expansion.

    8. Rall is the roadwork good or bad? And we know roadwork is primarily to transport invaders/occupiers.

    9. The USA is Battling the Pastun Nation not only Taliban.

    10. Mullah Omar had evicted Osama from Afghanistan prior 9/11 and 9/11 occured during the grace period Osama requested.

    14. Afghanistan has never been a nation in the classical sense in that it has never had an effective national government or coherent national character. A collection of mostly hostile tribes, the closest they ever came was in the mid-1700's when Durrani conquered the other major tribes and established his own empire. This empire lasted only until his grandsons let it disintegrate before 1809.

    15. The cross-roads region where Afghanistan lies has been under more-or-less constant invasion since the days of Alexander the Great. After Alexander, the area has been controlled by Indians, Greeks, Muslims, Genghis Kahn, the British (3 times), the Russians (at least twice), and others.

    16. Since the 1970's Afghanistan has been in continuous civil war, punctuated by invasions of the Soviet Union in 1979 and the US-led coalition in 2001.

    17. The two most lucrative industries ever to flourish in Afghanistan have been piracy of convoys through the cross-road regions since ancient times, and the cultivation and processing of opium.

Afghanistan is more cohesive as a nation than either Pakistan or India, there is alot less racial and cultural diversity in Afghanistan than there is in Pakistan or India.

I felt he found my letters and read each one out loud

I pray that he would finish

But he just kept right on...

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

    Killing me softly

    With his song...

He sang as if he knew me

    In all my dark despair

And then he looked right through me as if I was not there

And he just kept on singing,

    Singing clear and strong...

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

    Killing me softly

    With his song...

oooooo....la la la la la la.....ooooooooooo...la la laaaaa.la la la laaaaa

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Afghanistan says finds 1.8 billion barrel oilfield

    Sun Aug 15, 2010 8:58am GMT

    By Sayed Salahuddin

KABUL (Reuters) - Afghanistan said on Sunday it had discovered an oilfield with an estimated 1.8 billion barrels in the north of the war-ravaged country, where U.S. and other foreign forces are trying to tame a Taliban-led insurgency.

The discovery of the basin between northern Balkh and Shiberghan provinces was made after a survey conducted by Afghan and international geologists, said Jawad Omar, a spokesman for the ministry of mines.

"I do not know its price in the market. But the initial survey says there are 1.8 billion barrels of oil and I think there will be more than what it is estimated," he told Reuters.

Various estimates of Afghanistan's hidden wealth have been made in recent years, but the challenge of exploiting the resources in a country at war and with little mining infrastructure is daunting for most investors.

Omar gave no more details on how the estimates were made but said the country will offer the reserves for development along with other minerals in the coming months.

Afghanistan hopes that untapped mineral deposits valued at $3 trillion could help reduce the need to rely on Western cash for bankrolling its impoverished economy and for its soldiers to maintain security when foreign troops draw down numbers.

But ravaged by three decades of foreign interventions and civil war, the central government now faces the Taliban insurgency and relies on foreign forces for control of many parts of the vast Central Asian country.

The U.S. Department of Defence estimated earlier this year that Afghanistan's mineral resources could top $1 trillion, but experts say the fragile security situation could delay seeing the benefits of this wealth for years.

Omar said an earlier plan for the tender of a 1.6 billion barrel Afghan-Tajik oil block in early 2011 was still on track.

He said Afghanistan will retender by year-end a deposit of iron of 1.8 billion tonnes it had scrapped earlier this year due to the global recession and changes in the world markets.

The untapped mineral resources include iron ore, copper, lithium, oil gas and gems which Afghanistan hopes to put for developing in coming years despite rising insecurity in recent years, the bloodiest period since U.S.-led troops ousted the Taliban in 2001.

China's top integrated copper producer, Jiangxi Copper Co and China Metallurgical Group Corp, in 2007 became the first major investor in Afghanistan.

They are involved in the exploration of the vast multi-billion dollar Aynak Copper Mine to the south of Kabul. Omar said the actual exploration of the mine will start after three years.

  11. Steven Gaal Biography

Nine days before the assassination my Mom dropped me off at the Ambassador Hotel. I saw RFK speak and kick off his California Campaign. The night of the assassination I was home and heard RFK say,"..on to Chicago..", I turned off my small B&W TV. In the morning I knew the USA wasnt the greatest place on Earth. At the trial the right wing media (smaller then)started attacking coroner Noguchi. They said he had had sex with dead Hollywood starlets ?!? I was 15 and had already read Rush to Judgement and I smelled a rat !! Since then I have studied conspiracy on and off. I have worked with William Weston on a number of JFK matters. Ive had 13 years of college (science/medicine/pharmacy/electronics). Now I take care of people in their homes on ventilators. I have two grand kids. My interests are alternative energy/medicine/politics and protestant theology. I follow the Lord Christ. THANKS SG

Israel and USA against the world

Sometimes it seems like Israel and USA against the world

When all the others turn their backs and walked away

You can count on USA to stay

Remember when the circus came to town

How you were frightened by the clown

Wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew

Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

Israel and USA against the world

Sometimes it seems Israel and USA against the world

And for all the times we've cried I always felt that

    God was on our side.

And when one of us is gone

And one of us is left to carry on

Then remembering will have to do

Our memories alone will get us through

Think about the days of USA and Israel

Of Israel and USA against the world

    Life can be circus

    They underpay and overwork us

Though we seldom get our due

And when each day is through

I bring my tired body home

And look around for you, Israel

Israel and USA against the world

It feels like Israel and USA against the world

And for all the times we've cried

I've always felt that God was on our side

And when one of us is gone

And one is left alone to carry on

Then remembering will have to do

Memories alone will get us through

Think about the days of me and you

Israel and USA against the world

  13. Some have had IMHO a deeper look into the human condition ,even at the time, than the abolitionists . I do think Wilberforce was a positive force albeit a small contribution to helping humanity.

FROM a letter in the Gaurdian RE your post

Cobbett thought that he was full of xxxx

If there was one issue that divided them however, it was Wilberforce’s abolitionist campaign. Wilberforce has his place in history as a leading light in the struggle to end the trade in slaves. Though Cobbett never supported this inhuman traffic, he refused to join the abolitionists who, virtually to a man, he labelled as hypocrites. Indeed, many of those that worked themselves into a frenzy on behalf of the African Negroes totally ignored the grinding wage slavery that existed in their own towns and shires. Many of them even grew rich from profits and dividends wrought from the pain and misery of their own nation’s children........

This was Cobbett’s point. How could those such as Wilberforce break their hearts at the plight of the black American, yet ignore the pain racked faces and crippled bodies of children worked fourteen hours a day at machines that today could safely be described as lethal weapons?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The attitude of the various sections of the country toward chattel slavery has always been determined directly by the dominant economic interests of the section in question. Massachusetts abolished slavery at an early date, and we have it on the authority of John Adams that : -

Argument might have had some weight in the abolition of slavery in Massachusetts, but the real cause was the multiplication of laboring white people, who would not longer suffer the rich to employ these sable rivals so much to their injury.1

1 A work by a writer using the name of "Barbarossa," entitled "The Lost Principles of Sectional Equilibrium," published in 1860, has this statement (p. 39, note) : "In the Congress of 1776 John Adams observed that the number of persons were taken by this article (on taxation) as the index of the wealth of the state, and not as subjects of taxation. That as to this matter, it was of no consequence by what name you called your people, whether by that of freemen or of slaves. That in some countries the laboring poor were called freemen ; in others they were called slaves : but that the difference was imaginary only. What matters it whether a landlord employing ten laborers on his farm gives them annually as much as will buy the necessaries of life, or gives them those necessaries at first hand?" Williams, "History of the Negro Race in America," p. 209, quotes from a report of a committee appointed by the Massachusetts Council in 1706, stating that negro slavery should be abolished because "white servants" were cheaper and more profitable to the colony. ************also adding to point *****************

"In former times the marauding minority of mankind, by means of physical violence, compelled the working majority to render feudal services, or reduced them to a state of slavery or serfdom, or at least made them pay a tribute. Nowadays the dependence of the working classes is secured in a less direct but equally efficacious manner, viz. by means of the superior power of capital; the labourer being forced, in order to get his subsistence, to place his labour power entirely at the disposal of the capitalist. So there is a semblance of liberty; but in reality the labourer is exploited and subjected, because, all the land having been appropriated, he cannot procure his subsistence directly from nature, and, goods being produced for the market and not for the producer's own use, he cannot subsist without capital. Wages will rise above what is wanted for the necessaries of life, where the labourer is able to earn his subsistence on free land, which has not yet become private property. But wherever, in an old and totally occupied country, a body of labouring poor is employed in manufactures, the same law, which we see at work in the struggle for life throughout the organized world, will keep wages at the absolute minimum"
