  1. Members from the New York area may find this of interest, as only simply as another case study in political assassination. I'm not sure how many people registered with the forum are from New York, Raymond Carroll is the only one that comes to mind. I had the pleasure of meeting Jared Bal last summer and he seemed to be a very intelligent man (as a PhD would suggest!) Baba Zak Kondo is featured heavily in the excellent documentary on the assassination 'Brother Minister', which is not available online. For good videos of Malcolm's speeches see this youtube profile, http://www.youtube.com/user/antihostile John

  3. Deciphering Michael's code is a extremely annoying thing to do, but I'll give it a go. The story of Madeleine has increased tabloid sales by a whopping figure worldwide. Close? The story of the McCann abduction is being turned into a documentary, which is true. Close? Is it a mix of the two, that Madeleine's abduction has become a media niche in itself, selling papers, books, dvds and the likes.
  4. I'm answering my own question here with regards to Nader being a Green or not, but he will be taking part in another Green debate in Washington D.C. It is being held in Busboys and Poets, a bookshop/cafe. It's such a nice place, it was one of my favourite hangouts in D.C. They hold a lot of meetings for organisations such as Answer, Trans-Africa forum, world can't wait (an impeachment group) and a lot of others. If you are ever in D.C. I highly recommend it. http://www.gp.org/2008-elections/presidential-debates.php DC / Maryland / Virginia Forum Saturday, February 2, 2008 10:00 am Busboys & Poets 14 th and V Streets, NW Washington, DC Candidates Jared Ball * Jesse Johnson Cynthia McKinney * Kent Mesplay Ralph Nader ** Kat Swift * Directions: Metro (Greenline):U Street/African American Civil War Memorial stop 14th Street bus lines (52, 53, 54) Two blocks from 16th Street bus lines (S2, S4) Street Parking Sponsored by the DC Statehood Green Party, Maryland Green Party and Virginia Green Party Information: Tom or Tamar Yager - 703-524-2187 greenyager@gmail.com *Invited but attendance not confirmed at time of printing. ** Not a declared candidate as of printing. 5. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/st...5961&page=1 http://www.naderexplore08.org Here are my scribblings from another forum (Responding to someone saying that he may get Democrat votes) I think that if you ask the average Nader voter, they will say that they simply wouldn't have turned up on election day had he not been in the race. Is he running Green or independent? If he is running for the Greens, then that makes in an interesting race between himself and Cynthia McKinney. It would be a good ticket if they ran in any order, but I feel that they would both feel that they deserve the spotlight in their own right. Nader spoke at the Green party debate, but not with other candidates because of some technicality or another (it was by his choosing). I know I speak in the minority here, but the U.S. badly needs a third and fourth party. A lot of people that would like to vote Green/Nader/McKinney will not do so for fear of handing the election to the Republicans (though I don't think that was the case in 2000). The ideal scenario would be if either Bloomberg or Paul ran a third party campaign, as polls show that this would hurt the Republicans, thus levelling the field and alleviating voters concerns over handing the white house over to McCain (I assume that it will be he that takes the nomination). Who knows, if we're lucky, we could see the beginnings of a third and fourth minority party. For the sake of democratic choice I hope that Nader runs with McKinney on the Green ticket (to establish a viable left wing alternative) and either Bloomberg or paul run (to give a right libertarian alternative). I'm keeping my eye on this, it could well be a big story in the election to come. (Responding to someone that doesn't think that this will matter because of the first past the post system) It's not just about having a viable presidential candidate every four years, it is about building a party structure that can contest state senate and local elections with the ultimate goal of returning Green/Libertarian members of Congress. You have to start somewhere and a high profile Presidential run is the best place. You get a huge influx of volunteers for presidential campaigns that will then campaign locally. For this, the Greens will be relying on Democratic defections like Cynthia McKinney. The next targets will be Dennis Kucinich should he be unseated in the house Democratic primary (Nobody runs against sitting members of Congress unless the party wants them out). Other members from California and members of the Progressive Caucus would be targets, people like Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee and Senator Bernie Sanders. It is a long term strategy, of course they won't win the white house, it is about establishing a party base
  6. Having listened to Walk Brown on black op radio recetly, I think that he would be an excellent candidate to rebut Bugliosi on the minutae of the case. Walt is working on an exhausting timeline of the case, running to tens of thousands of pages. He will be speaking at the Dealey Plaza UK conference in March, so maybe I can catch his ear then. John
  7. One piece of advice Tony, don't use the word renegade so much. John
  8. Then why make these accusations in the first place? Surely you must have known that people would not take this at face value and that you would need to provide proof. Until you can supporting documentary evidence there is really nothing here that we should believe. I presume that you are discussing all of this to add to the historical record and clarify a few points. I am a History student and I don't believe that i could use you as a source and get away with it. Unless you have a well sourced manuscript, no academic or reputable publisher would take it upon themselves to publish your book. I say, if you are going to possibly slander someone (Agee), then back your statements up. John
  9. I'm trying to find documentation on the amount of documents released under the JFK act by the ARRB. I would also be appreciative to anyone who could give me figures for any other major documentary releases, such as the HSCA and other FOIA requests. I am undertaking a database project for college and I want to use documentary release relating to the JFK case as my model. Any help would be appreciated. You can email me at johnpetergeraghty@gmail.com All the best, John
  10. Castro is on film saying the same thing to Oliver Stone in the documentary 'Comandante'. You can view the documentary on youtube, beginning here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WywoXMYAJLg I think that the clip about Kennedy and Oswald is in either part 5 or 8. Don't quote me on that though. John
  11. Michael, I agree that cocaine use fairly prevalent in 1984 and I'm also fairly sure that Ted Kennedy was a habitual user of the drug. The book 'The Senator' by one of Kennedy's aides goes in depth into Kennedy's drug use. Tony's statements about Agee are at odds with what his friends have told me about him, that is why I doubt the veracity of what he says here. I suppose we'll have to wait for Tony's book. John
  12. Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.
  13. Here is my second short blog on the McKinney site, advocating advanced used of the internet by the campaign. Using the net effectively John Geraghty In a very realistic sense, it is unlikely that the Green party or Cynthia will get a lot of media attention during her presidential campaign. In another dose of realism, it will be difficult for Cynthia to compete in fundraising, even with people like Chris Dodd and Joe Biden (who are now out of the race). In canvassing and fundraising we must turn to the internet. Although progressives and radicals may not see him as being on message on a lot of issues, the online presence of Ron Paul can not be denied. There is a lot that can be learned from his net campaigning. While it seems unlikely that this was an orchestrated campaign by the Paul for president crew, we can see what an energized base with a few pc's and an internet connection can do. The fundraising potential of the internet is huge. The following sites should be subjected to ongoing internet canvassing over the comin months, youtube- we need a lot of videos from Cynthia personally, whether they be direct statements to the camera or coverage of media appearances and speeches that she may give. Supporter videos championing her candidacy would also be useful. Probably the most important internet site for politics en masse. myspace-One of the premier social networking sites. Some active campaigning will give us easy access to progressive causes and users. Facebook-This gives easy access to college students, a ready market for canvassers and campaign volunteers. It is also essential to spreading a message. Meetup-This provides us with ready and willing Green volunteers in cities across the country, There has been a downturn in the number of group on this site due to the introduction of group fees, it has, however, not hit user numbers. Perhaps the campaign should consider paying for the establishment of a few groups in major cities. The campaign should actively participate in liaising with these groups. Craigslist-Craigslist is a huge resource for progressives around the country, we should be posting appeals to voters and volunteers on the newsgroups. Other video sites-As well as youtube, we must endeavour to post videos to sites such as metacafe, veoh and others. Political forums and discussion groups- Membership of political discussion groups is good for spreading campaign messages and the viability of the campaign. I do not mean that we all spend ourtime posting press releases on these forums, rather we discuss in our own words the McKinney campaign and why it is no laughing matter. Posting youtube videos on these forums would also be an effective policy. The key to winning over the net vote is consistency. The message that should be continually pushed is the need for the creation of a third party, if not now, when? We should be continually reiterating that one should not vote democrat just because they fear the Republicans. Effective change is made through the creation of choice. People know that the Green party is not lkely to win the white house during this election campaign, so we must treat them as people with brains and tell them truthfully what the party hopes to gain from this election, the creation of the party as a viable political entity. In other words, we must enforce the need in voters minds to give their country a effctive, electable lobby party that can grow into something that will really fit their needs. The Green paries website lists 10 key values, the campaign should identify the policies that Cynthia would enact in order to bring these values to the wider community. These are but a few of the online methods that we can use. I will post in future blogs on how we can effectively use local media to further the campaign.
  14. Here is the source of this information http://www.billstanton.co.uk/novels/treason.htm Bill Stanton is now deceased. I am writing an email to his wife. The photograph of the book on amazon names the 'editor' as W.G. Stanton. TREASON - for my daily bread -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill was commissioned by a publisher, Tom Todd, to write a thriller about the J F Kennedy assassination. The story follows the life and misfortunes of Mikel Lebadev, a Ukranian man trained by the KGB, and who subsequently found himself stateless. Hiring himself out as a hitman, he is taken on by oil barons in Texas to remove a man who was about to tax them until the pips squeeked. That man was John Fitzgerald Kennedy. 15. Tony Frank was and possibly still is a frequent poster on the jfklancer forum. As I recall he also claims to have personally bore witness to Edward Kennedy taking cocaine. I do believe that Kennedy used cocaine, but I'd like to see some evidence from Tony that he actually saw these things happening. From my recollection of his jfklancer posts he usually stated his experiences in 3-5 lines and left it at that without documentation. Tony, would you care to elaborate? John
  16. I am trying to find some good historical and political podcasts to listen during my commute to college. Has anybody got any suggestion? I am particularly looking for any small blogger that has their own podcast, I'm willing to try something off the beaten track. Thanks, John
  17. There is another thread on the same topic in the political conspiracies section, Thanks , John
  18. Cynthia now has a new campaign website, which looks pretty good. http://www.mckinney2008.com You can register, post blogs and videos and interract with other supporters. Here is my first blog on the site, arguing that people vote for a third party instead of voting for the Democrats out of fear of the Republicans. What makes a citizen sell their vote? The buzz word around the elections these days is ‘change’ , ‘I stand for change’, ‘Hey, Let’s move on, let’s change’, ‘Hey buddy, got any spare change?’. Well, change isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, or rather, change isn’t all the spin masters crack it up to be. What exactly does Barack Obama mean when he says that he represents change, that he can unite the country out of its bitter factionism? Tell me, how does one man unite 260 million others, in fact, how does he possibly think that one person can represent the views of the people he is speaking to in packed auditoriums and school halls? There is spinned change, a tactic by which someone with charisma seeks votes without actually saying anything, and there is actual change, embodied by the declaration of a multitude of citizens that they are unhappy with their representation. I fail to be convinced that change it embodied by voting for a candidate who’s only criteria for being worthy of election is that they are slightly less conservative than the other guy. Democratic voters have, in the past, been wary of voting for a third party candidate, because they feared they would hand the white house to the Republican party and feel that their vote had been wasted. The people who would like to vote Green or anther third party feel not so much that they would be voting for a party, but that they wouldn’t be voting for the democrats and so, in actuality, their vote was as good as one cast for the Republican party. These citizens would likely not be classed as overwhelmingly supportive of the democratic party, but rather, are sufficiently appeased by them to vote for them due to their fear of a Republican controlled Congress or White House. Change is not voting for the most charismatic liberal that is deemed acceptable for you to vote for, change is voting for the choice that you are democratically entitled to. Polls indicate that over 30% of Americans would vote for a third party if it was a viable option. This indicates distinct dissatisfaction within both parties, what scares people so badly to use their vote, which they fought so hard to attain, by voting for a party that doesn’t scare them quite as much as the other party? This is the system of control in America that is continually pushing it to the right. The Democrats are free to become more conservative, as the voters have not held them in check by voting for more left wing parties, denying the democrats of their vote. Voting Democrat when your hearts not in it is like seeing a salivating rottweiler that wants your lunch coming towards you and instead of letting the rottweiler have it you give it to a nearby poodle. I say keep your lunch for yourself! The only change is lasting change. The only way to accomplish this is by the formation and strengthening of a new political entity that is both accountable and responsive to the people. This change can not just be embodied by one person or by one party, but by a collective vote and action by citizens. Vote for what you believe in, not what you are afraid of.
  19. Bhutto spoke with David Forst one month ago. In this interview she claimed that Sheikh Omar Saeed killed Osama Bin Laden. Very interesting. John
  20. I know that both Peter and Michael are interested in CYnthia McKinney's career and I share everyones joy in her candidacy. I worked as an intern for her in congress in 2006 and met her again this summer gone by. This can't have been an easy decision to have made, given the way the democrats hounded Nader for running in 2000. By hounding I don't just mean complaining, they went after his bank accounts and his whole life. I'm hoping to get a website together about Cynthia to support her campaign. It is quite an important step to start to bring about the entrance of a viable third party into the American system. I'm sure that the most frequent argument against voting for her will be that people fear handing the presidency to the Republican party. McKinney's aim will be to garner support from new black voters, giving them a more left wing politician that is more in touch with working class issues. You simply can not keep delaying the creation of a real democratic system out of fear of another Republican term. What has the democratic congress been able to achieve over what should be a lame duck president? I wil be writing a few articles on McKinney in the next while and I will hopefully give people a few reasons to vote for her and a full FAQ. I may have to start saving my pennies to get on the campaign trail sometime next year. John
  21. I tried on another computer and they were fine. Thanks
  22. Michael, Don, Thanks very much for this information. I had heard one or two of the quotes before, but they had not been referenced. Very good stuff. John
  23. Wim, Those links don't work for me, are you sure that they are correct? Thanks, John
  24. Don, What is your source for Woody saying that his dad worked for the CIA. I have never come across anything that would substantiate this. Are you taking it from a small black pocket book on the CIA called 'secrets of the agency' or something similar? In that book there is some reference to Harrelson having worked for 'the company'. This is actually a reference to a gangof mobsters operating out of Flordia that took that name. John
  25. I would assume the reason is that the others are all on the COPA board and are members. Looking forward to listening to the shows. John
