Thanks. See my postings on the L. Robert Castorr thread.

Not sure of the significance of your second link.

Browder was born in Amarillo, TX in 1917, in event that is of any assistance.

Tom

P.S. He also had a record in Dallas as well.

I'm not sure it's significant either. There's a Brewder there in Dallas county. The next entry is re Grand Prarie. I saw it as a possible starting point to establish the question you asked.

Tom's folow up's are interesting for sure.

Tom and Steve,

CD 914 does give his place of birth as Amarillo. It also states he was a pilot, "SOS Army". As best as I can make out, the SOS was the Signal Operating Services, a highly secret unit, and possibly a fore-runner of the NSA.

A 1948 Time story states he was a pilot with the Royal Air Force... A Fizzled Blitz

The HSCA linked him to shady deals with Clemard Charles in its Staff Report on George DeMohrenschildt

Who didn't associate with? I'm prepared to say NOT Jack Ruby - at least not in Florida per the Blaney Mack Johnson allegations.

That person was far more likely to have been Jack Rubenstein/Rubinstein, a New Yorker who used a fruit and veg shop as a front for bookmaking and was associated with Kansas mobsters. Dallas Jack stopped using the name Rubenstein in 1947. Johnson clearly remembered the person he met as named Rubenstein and was unable to identify Ruby as the person he knew. When questioned by the FBI, Browder was asked if he had associated with Jack Ruby in smuggling guns to Cuba in the 1950s. Why was he was not asked if he had associated with a Jack Rubenstein per Johnson? As it was, the question allowed him, imo, to honestly answer "no".

I honesty do believe a lot of the FBI reports which refer to Ruby/Rubenstein being involved in various activities in various parts of the US and which have him associating with everyone from Communists to professional gamblers and anything in between are actually cases of mistaken identity. In some cases, the real person involved would have been Jack Rubenstein NY State head of the Textile Workers Union (he was only a few years older than Ruby and looked a lot like him). In other cases, it was probably the JR mentioned here... NYC bookie and associate of mobsters. He was born around 1918 or thereabouts. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a photo.
