I recently put online The Canterbury Tales: A Complete Translation into Modern English. This translation by Dr. Eugene J. Crook and me was published in paperback in 1993.

A lot of professors in the U.S. frown on attempts to render Chaucer in modern English, and I suspect that professors in the UK do even more so. Still, this translation has been adopted over the years in over 100 college courses in the U.S. I thought it was time to make it available online.

I've also put two of my old college English papers online. (They both got A's, naturally!) For those with an interest in Romantic poetry and in Gerard Manley Hopkins:

The Eolian Harp

Religious Crisis in Hopkins' Terrible Sonnets

That's terrific Ron. I was trained to teach English and History but never really got around to it.

As for translations into English, they just started putting subtitles on BBC News because Americans can't understand it.

I also have some articles I've written about Walt Whitman and W. Butler Yeats, but I'm afraid to post them.

Well done on Chaucer.

Bill and Tim, thanks for your comments.

The Bible as literature is often taught by English departments, so I might as well throw in a link to my online biblical commentaries. They are found here:
