Six degrees of JFK

According to Wikipedia (I know, I'm a hypocrite for reading propagandapedia, but for non-political non-historical subjects it can be ok... I know I know, I'm defensive about getting caught reading Wikipedia):

"There is a photo of [singer Tennessee Ernie] Ford with country singer Hank Thompson and Dallas nightclubs owner Jack Ruby in the 1988 book, "The Ruby Oswald Affair" by Alan Adelson."

How weird is that?

Myra,

here's the right link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee_Ernie_Ford

The photo was most likely taken when Ruby was running the Ranch House. Other notables Ruby hired while there included Tex Ritter and Artie Shaw.

See CE 1223

The Band (then known as The Hawks) may also have played there.

Also found among Ruby's effects by DPD were phone numbers for Xavier Cugat, Trini Lopez and Delbert McClinton.

Somewhere, I have a white label test pressing of an album called "The Very Best of Early Delbert McClinton & The Rondels," graciously provided to me by label owner Major Bill Smith of Ft. Worth, TX. Featured are two songs recorded "live" at a local club called "Jack's Place." One wonders....

And lest we forget, Dorothy wore "ruby" slippers on her sojourn through Oz.

I don't think we're in Langley anymore ...

Actually, I think I'm but two degrees of separation from Jack. I met Louis Armstrong, whose manager was Chicago showbiz mover-and-shaker Joe Glaser.

And as a friend of the late Sammy Cahn, I'm just a single degree of separation from ... well ... everybody.

Gulp.

Whoops, thanks for providing the correct link Greg.

Interesting about Tex Ritter and Artie Shaw.

That's some good arcane knowledge.
