Astronaut Edgar Mitchell Interview on Roswell Incident

Recommended Posts

Off topic - for which I apologise - but it reminds me of one of the mysteries we discuss on a science forum: why does the Moon "look" bigger when close to the horizon? If you measure the size of the Moon, you'll find it is about the same... but to most people it appears bigger.

We've tried to come up with a reason this is, and there are a few theories... but we can't point to one and say THIS is why. Generally we agree it involves the ability to compare the apparent size of the Moon with familiar objects (houses, trees, mountains, etc) when near the horizon... but it's not anything we can provide objective evidence for.
