John Simkin
So far the following questions have been asked: (Q1) Did the activities of the peace movement help the NLF (Vietcong) gain control of South Vietnam? http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=1271 What constitutes a just war? Was the Vietnamese-American conflict a just war? Why or why not? http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=1343 (Q2) Could the Vietnamese-American War have been won by South Vietnam and the United States? Why or why not? If so, how? If so, at what additional cost? If not, why? http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=1344 (Q3) Was media coverage of combat during World War II similar to or different from media coverage of combat during the Vietnamese-American War? http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=1345 (Q4) What have been the post-war impacts on health, poverty and human suffering in Vietnam and in America? http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=1346
John Simkin
(Q5) I am a high school student at Benjamin Banneker High School in Washington DC, USA. I am in the IB Program and thus I need to write an "internal assessment" (similar to a research paper) for my IB History class. I chose to research the Vietnam War, I further narrow down my focus into "During the Vietnam War, did the American make any promise to the Vietnamese, if yes, what? And did they break this/these promises? http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=5701
Ian Mason
(Q6) I am a Freshman at Chandler High in Chandler, Arizona, I am doing an Nation History Day project (http://nhd.org) on Agent Orange's effect in the Vietnam war. I would like to know: did Veterans know about the effects of the rainbow herbacides? if so were they told not to tell about it? Did the chemical manufacturers know about the effects? Personal accounts and inside on if the Veterans were effected. Should we have used the herbicides in Vietnam? Could Veterans tell a difference from the herbicides? The chemical manufacturers have insisted they did not know about the long-term effects of Agent Orange. The soldiers who used it had no idea about these effects. Ian Herbacides were NOT used in Vietnam, circa. 1963-65. They were used soon after. Might want to post your question to alt.war.vietnam (google groups) many, many Vietnam era vets post to that board. I'm sure a few will respond to thoughtful questions covering the topic. [don't let rancor on that board hold you back from asking your questions]. I suggest in the title block of your post there, start the title with: "Doug Reese, please....". I'm sure he'll see it, you should receive a prompt reply to your question.
