The Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History is an excellent resource for anyone teaching this area. Check out the Modules on Major Topics in American History (http://www.gilderlehrman.org/teachers/modules.html). I particularly like the attempt they make to integrate document analysis into the activities, something which is, in my experience, rare among US history teachers...
