Yes, but irrespective of that any rifle would have this own characteristic, so a 3 shot replay with a same model carcano loaded as expected would show a consistency in pattern. That in itself could be a comparison.

Part of the whole thing is to objectively test PC findings and not blindly accept them (or anything) as given.

edit add: various rifles have overall characteristics. I think the FN49 semi had a particular pattern while prob diff from each other affected battle formation because of the uncomfortable right forward spit made a right diagonal formation unpleasant, (for example). Further were the other tests bench, horizontal or with the rifle pointing down at the required angles. (in x,y,z)

Sure, it would show a consistency in pattern for THAT rifle. Which does not reflect at all on the actual rifle, which could in fact have a completely different pattern. Unless we could test the actual rifle, the results we would have would not yield any relevant comparison information.
