Pat Speer
In Anatoly Dobrynin's memoir, In Confidence, he writes that "The KGB on Khrushchev's orders prepared a top secret report. Its principal conclusion was that the assassination arose from a plot hatched by ultraconservative groups and the mafia in the United States with the goal of strengthening the reactionary and aggressive elements of American policy." Has anyone read this report? Is it available online? Edited July 30, 2010 by Pat Speer
William Kelly
In Anatoly Dobrynin's memoir, In Confidence, he writes that "The KGB on Khrushchev's orders prepared a top secret report. Its principal conclusion was that the assassination arose from a plot hatched by ultraconservative groups and the mafia in the United States with the goal of strengthening the reactionary and aggressive elements of American policy." Has anyone read this report? Is it available online? Pat, That sounds suspiciously like Gregory Douglas' Operation Zipper report, that stems from the files of Col. Corso and a CIA officer, and can be officially certified as Real Disinformation, - using the classic defination of the term - that it is intentionally misleading information pawned off by an intelligence service in order to decieve the public. It seems that every time a reformed Soviet met a US President he would pass along some of the secret files that they had on Oswald in Russia, and it's almost become a red badge of bonifides for any serious defector, but only Corso and Company, the UFOlogists, can come up with the English translated copy of the report? And this is from the same batch of docs that includes the McCone memo that acknowledges Oswald went to USSR under ONI auspicies, was trained at the CIA's Camp Perry, Va. , and other nonsense that clearly indicates the docs are fabricated, though cleverly so. If what Dobrynin says is true, I don't think that the report has ever surfaced, and the one Corso & Co. give us is most certainly bogus, though it says excatly what you say Dobrynin's doc concludes.
