David Von Pein
A person asked Jim DiEugenio a question on Black Op Radio on August 25, 2011, that is very easy to answer: The questioner wanted to know if anybody had any information as to the identity of the man on the south side of Elm Street who can be seen holding a camera up near his face in Zapruder frame #346. The answer to the question is -- The man is Associated Press photographer James Altgens. Altgens, of course, took a series of famous photos on 11/22/63 with his Nikkorex-F 35mm still camera. Zapruder Frame 346: Mr. Altgens, by the way, can be seen in several other Dealey Plaza pictures that were taken after the assassination as well, including the photo below. Altgens is the man on the sidewalk, holding his camera in his right hand, in this picture: More on Altgens: http://That-Day-In-Dallas.blogspot.com http://JFK-Archives.blogspot.com/2011/05/james-altgens.html Edited August 27, 2011 by David Von Pein
Pat Speer
I just got an email about this. Its Altgens. So its not a movie camera. Which was the important point. FWIW, the man at Altgens' right is also holding a camera. His name is Richard Bothun and his story is discussed in Pictures of the Pain. The man diving to the ground at Altgens' left is Malcolm Summers. The man behind Bothun, however, is still unidentified. David Von Pein
Yes, Pat. And it was Bothun who took this picture, which also shows Jim Altgens, standing just to the left (west) of Bill Newman on the Grassy Knoll: Edited August 27, 2011 by David Von Pein
