At around the 53:00 mark in this video, reporter Charles Murphy says that Fort Worth police had stopped "the car wanted in the assassination of President Kennedy." The suspect was in custody.

He goes on to say that, according to a Dallas reporter, James Kerr, JD Tippit was shot by an unknown assailant in a car.

In cases like the JFK assassination, it is customary for significant early news reports to get immediately buried and forgotten. Which speaks volumes about our media.

Examples:

Right after the Reagan shooting, Judy Woodruff reported that one shot came from an upper floor.

Right after the OKC bombing, there was a news report of additional explosives found.

Right after the collapse of WTC7 on 9/11, Dan Rather reported that it looked like a controlled demolition.

All followed up with silence.

How about the Umbrella Man there? Why is the umbrella held so high (shades of Dallas)?

How about the Umbrella Man there? Why is the umbrella held so high (shades of Dallas)?

Ronnie,

A possibility: Out of consideration to the photographers in the background?

'Hey, wouldya mind holding your umbrella a little higher? Thanks."

Because there's a policeman with a hat (which makes him taller) standing nearby? And it's not a good idea to p.o any cops when the president comes through? There's also a crowd eye-pokingly close to the brolly.

Or out of consideration for a shooter. "Can you get that umbrella up some?" (John Hinckley)

Ahh, it was Donald Wayne House, GM reminded me.

A potential patsy? I remember the name but that's about all.
