Just started reading the book. One interesting point was that Oswald's mother called Kent Courtney and asked him if he printed LHO's pamphlets. Of course Courtney was close to Banister. Oh and Jerry Ray, James Earl's brother also visited Courtney.

Kent Courtney and his wife, Phoebe Courtney, were well known in Southern politics in the 1960's.

Less well-known, perhaps, is the fact that they supported the idea of the resigned General Walker as a candidate for President of the United States. They weren't kidding. In their book, The Case of General Edwin A. Walker (1961) they openly called for his Presidency, as they also did multiple times in their newspaper, The Independent American.

Seeing the low support in polls for their candidate, they also proposed starting a 3rd Party, namely, the States Rights Party, to nominate General Edwin Walker for POTUS. To illustrate this, look at this photo in October 1962, when the resigned General Edwin Walker returned from an insane asylum to the Love Field airport in Dallas.

Walker still seems to have tear gas stains on his suit, yet banners fly overhead extolling "Walker for President" along with a Confederate Flag flying above him.

CIA-did-it writers who write-off General Walker as a "crazy old man" seem to be blissfully unaware of the very strong political support that the resigned General maintained among the Radical Right -- even after the Ole Miss riots of late 1962, or rather, precisely because of the Ole Miss riots of late 1962. General Walker held lots of serious political support among the Radical Right throughout 1963.

Phoebe Courtney was also one of the first to broach the feeling that Oswald shot at Walker, in a personal letter to Walker, she points this out to Ted as a feeling she previously contemplated. I don’t have this letter at hand, but I will try and locate as I saw it recently in my files. This was after the FBI’s " discovery" of LHO’s so called letter of instruction to Marina (12/ 2-3 /63)

This is from memory and I will have to look this up!

Bill.

To the best of my recollection, the very, very first time that anybody voiced any public hint of Lee Harvey Oswald shooting at the resigned General Walker was a few hours after JFK was murdered, when newspaper reporters at the DPD were insistently interviewing DPD Chief Jesse Curry.

One of the reporters hastily asked, "Chief, do you think this has anything to do with the Walker shooting earlier this year?" Jesse Curry did a quick double-take at the non-sequitur, and then said, "I don't know," and promptly took another question.

I'd be interested to learn the name of that reporter. If it was Robert Allen Surrey (or somebody connected to him) then I think we have a deeper problem.

BTW, I have never seen a photograph of Robert Allen Surrey. Does anybody know of a link to one? Or is it possible that Surrey and his wife and two sons are pictured in the foreground of this DMN photo?

As you may have heard, the CIA President's Daily Briefs (1961-1969) are now available online (link below).

http://www.foia.cia.gov/

And for those unfamiliar with its document search system, the CIA has over 11 milion pages of CIA documents listed on its "CREST" search system

Yes, the CIA this week declassified 11 million pages of US Government documents from the JFK and LBJ periods -- but nothing about the JFK assassination.

The implication is that we must patiently wait until Thursday 26 October 2017 for the ARRB to finally release all its documents.

In the meantime, Douglas P. Horne, a supervisor for the ARRB, has declassified several documents demonstrating that the Bethesda autopsy of JFK was riddled with Cover-up behavior.

Basically, Horne thoroughly vindicates the book, Best Evidence (1981) written by David Lifton, who is a member of this Forum.

Commander Humes lied through his teeth -- this will be one of the official conclusions of the ARRB in 2017.

I don't see him there Paul. Surrey has a full head of hair in the pics I've seen. Not many around, the one that stands out in my mind was a news reel of Walker arriving at Oxford Miss. in a station wagon, driven by Surrey. I'm straining my brain to think of where there might be others.

Bill

Bill, is there an online link to that photo of Robert Allen Surrey driving the resigned General Walker around Oxford, Mississippi in 1962?

Thanks,

The film I saw was similar to this one Chris and Paul, but there was a better shot of Walker and Surrey inside the car. I saw it at The Miss.State Archives in Jackson Mississippi;

http://mdah.state.ms.us/arrec/digital_archives/sovcom/ in their film files. I didn't take note of which film # it was at the time, since we were looking for other stuff. However, I immediately recognized Surrey as the driver.

The recent release of President's Daily Briefings include CIA info relating to Oswald and JFK's assassination.

Paul,

At about the 1:50 mark we have Walker in the front passenger seat of a white car.

Chris, thanks for the very interesting film about the Ole Miss riots. What an important period in US History. It's unsettling to think that the Cuban Missile Crisis was occurring at the same time.

In any case, at the 1:50 mark we do indeed see General Walker -- but his driver's face is obscured by the rear-view mirror. We can't see the driver at all. If that driver is Robert Allen Surrey, then we are not one step closer to seeing Surrey's face.

It just occurred to me this year that I've never seen the face of Robert Allen Surrey -- one of the witnesses for the Warren Commission. Shouldn't his family have plenty of family photographs to share? I truly believe that Dallas is the richest and least-explored mine of data about the JFK murder in the world.

I'm unclear, Bill. If you immediately recognized Surrey as the driver, then you evidently saw a photo of Surrey before that, correct? Is that photo available online?

Thanks,

That's the problem, It was so long ago I can't remember where I saw it... may have been in the J. Evetts Haley collection, in a Christmas card that Surrey sent ( they were close for years). If it was I don't have it as they wouldn't let us copy the cards for fear of potential damage.. That is just a guess, I really can't recall, though I have a clear picture of him in my mind... :(

Sorry

Bill
