Then some liberals foolishly adopted it as their way of seriously describing their belief system. It metastasized from there. That sort of chimes with what I heard Oliver Stone say in an interview the other day, when publicizing the documentary, that the CIA invented the term 'conspiracy theorist', to be used to describe those who disagreed with an 'official' story or explanation.
