I am aware of four people who warned JFK not to go to Dallas.

1. Dallas resident Anne Brinkley ( wife of NBC newsman David Brinkley ) wrote a letter to Pierre Salinger, Kennedy's Press Secretary begging him not to let the President come to Dallas or someone was going to kill him.

2. Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas told Kennedy that Dallas was a dangerous place. "I wouldn't go there", he told JFK, " don't YOU go there."

3. Dallas resident Stanley Marcus of the Neimann-Marcus chain felt so strongly about it that he flew to Washington for the sole purpose of warning JFK not to go to Dallas.

4. UN Ambassador Adlai Stevenson had been attacked by a mob just a month earlier and warned the President to stay away from Dallas.

So my question is this :

How did all of these people know that Oswald was going to kill Kennedy ?

People were obviously more psychic then!

I don't remember details, no cite, but was there not an account, mentioned, if I recall correctly, on this forum, that someone hurled themself bodily out in front of the motorcade, or attempted to, crying out to warn Kennedy, making a commotion, at an earlier point during the motorcade itself?

One mustn't overlook:

"Flo, they're going to kill him. They're going to kill him when he gets to Texas."

— Anti-Castro activist John Martino, according to his wife. Martino confessed his involvement to his family and a few others.   more »

Bonus Larry Hancock interview there.

Coincidentally, in the thread just started by Bill Simpich entitled, "CIA Index of Press Reports on 11/22 - the First 45 Days," Ron Bulman posted these "Gems from the 26 Volumes: by Vince Palamara."

Therein, Palamara quotes Penn/Shaw with respect to an attempt to stop the motorcade.

Quote

Jones/ Shaw: "We also learned from newsmen that something unusual did happen on Harwood [street] shortly before the turn to Main Street. No one wanted credit for this, but we were told by reliable newsmen that a man jumped in front of Kennedy's car on Harwood shouting, "Stop, I must tell you." The man, according to their report, was promptly wrestled to the ground and hustled away."

John Martino's Confessions

Flo, they're going to kill him. They're going to kill him when he gets to Texas.

The wife of John Martino, after denying to the HSCA that her husband had foreknowledge of JFK's assassination, told author Anthony Summers about her husband's statement the morning of the murder and the series of phone calls he received that afternoon.

John Martino, whose statements are the starting point for Larry Hancock's book Someone Would Have Talked, was deeply enmeshed in anti-Castro activities in the early 1960s. An electronics expert, particularly specializing in the gambling machines employed in Havana casinos run by organized crime. Martino was arrested in Havana in July 1959 and spent three years in prison there. On his return to Florida, he became associated with Frank Sturgis, Eddie Bayo, and other anti-Castro activists. Martino also mentioned the not-well-known CIA officer Dave Morales in his book, I Was Castro's Prisoner.

In the spring and summer of 1963, Martino was heavily involved in the Bayo-Pawley raid (aka Operation TILT), an operation intended to smuggle out of Cuba two Russian officers who, it was said, wanted to defect and alert the world to the presence of Soviet missiles remaining in Cuba after the Missile Crisis. A team was landed but never returned.

Martino and an associated named Nathaniel Weyl were active in the aftermath of JFK's assassination, spreading a variety stories intended to tie Lee Harvey Oswald to Fidel Castro.

Martino's confession was not confined to his wife and son Eddie. In 1975 he told Newsday reporter John Cummings about his involvement in the JFK murder, serving as a courier, delivering money, etc. He told a similar story to his business partner Fred Claasen that same year, as recounted in Tony Summer's book Conspiracy:

The anti-Castro people put Oswald together. Oswald didn't know who he was working for--he was just ignorant of who was really putting him together. Oswald was to meet his contact at the Texas Theatre. They were to meet Oswald in the theatre, and get him out of the country, then eliminate him. Oswald made a mistake...There was no way we could get to him. They had Ruby kill him.

Of all the most well known JFK killing predictions the most detailed as exactly happened one was by wealthy, violent segregation activist Joseph Milteer just two to three weeks before Dallas, 11,22,1963.

Milteer is on tape telling Miami police informant Will Somerset:

"Oh, yes. It's in the workings." Answering Somerset's question of whether "they are really going to try to kill him ( JFK? )

Sommerset: "How they gonna do it?"

Milteer: "from an office building with a high powered rifle."

Milteer: They'll pick up a patsy a few hours later.

How...HOW... AND WHY in the world was Milteer not immediately picked up and gruelingly interrogated once the Miami PD released this two week prior tape of him to the federal authorities describing the method and action of JFK's killing down to details beyond coincidence?

Somerset even claimed Milteer called him right after JFK was killed ( same day or next?) bragging about his earlier JFK killing claim for it's veracity!

Dallas was the super wealthy power center of the most rabid haters of JFK in America.

The Murchison family of Dallas "celebrated" JFK's death according to 35 year long Virginia Murchison house keeper May Newman who was right there in the family gatherings. Newman: "Like the champagne and cavier flowed for a week" after JFK's death. Newman claimed the only person who was grieving for JFK and his widow...was her!

Stu and I have covered this a number of times including in our book The Awful Grace of God.  First, the reason Milteer's associate was being taped at all is that there was active "sting" in progress targeting individuals suspected of obtaining a rifle for an attack on MLK; if the sting had worked that effort would have led to charges against a number of individuals - so there was law enforcement concern about immediately compromising the sting.

However the  tip was provided to both the FBI and the Secret Service.  Because a reference had been made to Washington DC  in regards to the attack, that is where the report went - since Secret Service PRS filed standing threats strictly by location.  As to Milteer, the FBI put him under surveillance and did visit some of the individuals who he had named as being likely to kill JFK.  That produced nothing but denials, however doing that much ultimately the leaks did compromise the informant who had been working with both Miami PD and the FBI.   Long story, details in the book but the incident was certainly not ignored - just handled in standard practice by both agencies,  reflecting how poorly the Secret Service was handling threats to the President and how often FBI follow up burned informants and did no real good.

Its also worth pointing out that at the same time the FBI was monitoring very active threats from ultra right wing groups to organize rifle attack teams and go after a variety of targets, not just JFK but Supreme Court justices and in particular a list of very wealthy Jews. And in Texas, a specific threat against JFK was reported out of one of those ultra right groups (the NSRP) was given to the Secret Service in advance - out of San Antonio.

I remember hearing about that. Another valuable witness that has vanished into history.

I defer to Joseph McBride who mentioned Vince's Gems, of which I'd never heard but found y googling the title and Vince's name.

there's also a report from the Dallas Morning News of the warning:

Quote

The Dallas Morning News reported that a man had run alongside Kennedy’s limousine a few minutes before the assassination, shouting a warning before being tackled by Secret Service agents from the followup car to Vice President Johnson’s vehicle,

McBride, Joseph. Into the Nightmare: My Search for the Killers of President John F. Kennedy and Officer J. D. Tippit (p. 524). Hightower Press. Kindle Edition.

I always wondered why no one searched for this man.

I have a couple of questions for Vince........what is your current opinion on the dead secret service agent story (whether it actually happened or not) and if your opinion is that it did happen, do you think it has anything to do with the pool of blood that Coley saw at the top of the steps in front of the fence? If I remember correctly at least one witness said something about the agents in the follow-up car returning fire. Not talking about Jean Hill either who just assumed they shot one of the assassins upon seeing the pool of blood. Seems like a witness stated matter-of-factly that agents returned fire. This is where Hickey comes in. Just brainstorming here, but say an agent who was in on the plot shot JFK or had a missed shot from the spot of the pool of blood, Hickey saw that and shot him. Obviously he lived long enough to get away or be dragged away. Do you think these two events (dead SSA story and pool of blood) could be connected?
