When Bobby mentioned "Chicago" at the end of the victory speech on TV I had an odd feeling. Why did he say Chicago instead of Illinois?

Speaking of photos of an event involving a Kennedy, when I went to the Kennedy Library some time ago to do limo research I spent most of time in the photo area with a wonderful specialist.  MaryRose was her name I think.  When I told her that I had seen JFK at the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia on Dec. 2, 1961 she asked me if I remembered where I sat. I pointed the area out to her and she said, "Well, when you have the time to look at all these photographs (five state photographers, I think) and I am sure you will find yourself...

Have not had a chance to do that yet...

Well when you talk about a convention, its the city not the state.

I have to disagree with you on the use of the term "argument from authority."

As many have said, like Gary Aguilar, this usually pertains to something like "the Warren Commission said " and they were seven honorable men.  Or the "FBI said it" and they  were a crackerjack detective agency.  The authority comes from their alleged historical background and reputation.

When i say Don knows as much about MM as anyone I know, that is based on my direct experience with him both personally and professionally.  I mean who else could have written the article beginning this thread?  Who else could have gotten the pictures exposing Mark Shaw as not even knowing what MM's house looked like, both outside and in.

That kind of thing comes from voracious reading and study, like you on the limo.  And that is why he, and you, deserve respect, not from any presumed authority.

***Thank you. That makes sense. However, Chicago is also the place where supposedly Papa Joe bought the election for JFK in 1960. That, as we know, did not end well. Ironically, Bobby was also at the Ambassador Hotel.  Papa Joe was Ambassador to the Court of St. James until FDR recalled him for being a Hitler sympathizer, so that is ironic to me.

Another odd coincidence is that I was born at Cook County.

***what that means to me is that, rather than trying to persuade someone to your point of view you shut off all discussion by claiming that the 'authority' has already answered all the questions and you should 'believe' them.

***With all due respect, it is your opinion and you are entitled. I am not yet persuaded. I prefer to examine a number of sources and weigh and evaluate what they have to say. Then I form an hypothesis and test it out.

***With the limo I only ask that people listen to what I say and then decide for themselves what to think. If the conversation gets too far out here, for example, I just snooze the posters for a while.

***my reply...
