Tom Gram
This might be a long shot, but does anyone have any digital copies of the papers of Edward F. Wegmann, or at least a detailed finding aid/document listing? These papers are in the Special Access Group at NARA and don’t have RIFs, and the only source I could find describing the contents is an ARRB memo: https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/finding-aids/wegmann-papers.html https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=204118#relPageId=1 I’m mostly interested in the interviews with Garrison witnesses conducted by Southern Research Company. For example, according to the ARRB memo, there are four SRC interview reports with Carlos Bringuier from March - May ‘67 that I’ve never seen online anywhere. Reviewed all 7 boxes and found a lot of documents that looked like they came from Jim Garrison's office but did not copy those interviews. If you want to review them you can hire a researcher who can make copies of them for you. With only seven boxes to review, it should not take a long time for a researcher to find them. Here is a list of independent researchers. https://www.archives.gov/research/hire-help

Usually I’d just request reproductions from NARA but I have no clue how to do that without RIFs or agency file numbers. This hire-a-researcher thing looks promising. Most of the JFK Records Collection is not online. If you're only looking for four interviews write to NARA andgive them as much info on the specific documents as possible. That's your best option unless you can afford to go there in person. Joe Backes

I didn't see a recommended JFK assassination researcher. There are many JFK records that do not have RIFs. Tell them you want 4 interviews conducted by the Southern Research Corporation as mentioned in the ARRB memo. See - 082395.WPD. So, all 4 should be in the Wegmann Papers, Box 3, in the Carlos Bringer / Carlos Quiroga file folder. It should be easy peasy to find them. They are dated from March to May of 1967. Mention the guide to the Wegmann Papers and who he was because they'll give this job of fetch and photocopy to a kid who doesn't know a damn thing about the JFK assassination, Garrison etc. or who in the hell Wegmann or Bringer were. There are many JFK records that do not have RIFs. You do not need a dedicated JFK researcher to do this research and there are no RIFs. All of the documents in his collection are documents donated by him. If you ask NARA to copy it for you using the information provided by Joseph and me ask how long it will take. if it takes too long, hire a researcher. If you hire a researcher give that person the information provided by Joseph and the documents location: JFK, No Entry Number, JFK Collection: Papers of Edward F. Wegmann. Boxes 1-7 Stack 650L1, Row 67, Compartment 34, Shelf 4. This was provided by to me by NARA and this is how I ordered the documents. The researcher can email it to NARA and request an advance pull. When they confirm that it has been pulled the researcher can go there and review the boxes. It can take up to 2 hours to retrieve archival material and you do not want to pay the researcher to wait for the boxes.
Tom Gram
Thanks for the tips Joe and John. I’ll start by emailing the guy I talk to occasionally in the Special Access Branch and see what the deal is.
