Gerry Down Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 In 1975, Gochenaur told the Church Committee that Carver Gayton told him that Hosty had met with LHO in a car park: 1975 Jim Gochenaur – Church Committee LINK (Malcolm Blunt Archive): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uQkTxVu2AIU6XVCNNVN77o2saQSqg5w_ In his interview to the Church Committee Carver Gayton was not asked, nor did he mention, anything about a meeting in a car park. In fact Carver Gayton says Hosty never met LHO (until the afternoon of the JFK assassination). 1976 Carver Gayton – Church Committee LINK (Malcolm Blunt Archive): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RrTiwCzJSUFQIjPYvkpBkABwR1dDC291 In his interview to the HSCA, Carver Gayton again was not asked, nor did he mention, anything about a meeting in a car park. 1977 Carver Gayton – HSCA LINK (Malcolm Blunt Archive): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RrTiwCzJSUFQIjPYvkpBkABwR1dDC291 Jim Gochenaur came before the HSCA. For some strange reason he makes no mention at all of any car park meeting. At the end of the interview he was asked if there was anything else he would like to add and he says no. 1977 Jim Gochenaur – HSCA LINK: https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=49383#relPageId=1 In any of the below recent video interviews Gochenaur makes no mention of the car park meeting: Out Of The Blank #1511 - Jim Gochenaur https://youtu.be/yzhJYUknBe8?si=0BF_Yo5J7luUSifr Several short segments of an interview with Gochenaur on this youtube channel https://youtu.be/47bBHH2GaU8?si=8stTkEmAGeeQbZ7z So can we really take Gochenaur seriously as a result of this? If Hosty and Oswald met in a car park it would completely derail the official version of events, certainly as Hosty told it. Yet Gochenaur does not seem to think this detail is important enough to mention. Could we make sure this issue is put to Gochenaur when he appears at the Lancer conference this month?
Jonathan Cohen Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Not sure I'm buying this. I'm not aware of any evidence Hosty and Oswald actually met in person before Nov. 22, 1963.
Miles Massicotte Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 It is definitely strange that Gochenaur mentions this to the Church Committee but neither him nor Gayton seem to mention it again (nice work Gerry). You'd think that if this was legit that he, or Gayton, would be sure to mention it. . Having said that, it is obviously explosive if Hasty and Oswald met and Hosty was Oswald's handler. I can't help but think about Oswald's angry comment to leave Marina out of this, almost as if he had previous business with Hosty that he did not want Marina involved in. If true, what is the reason Gochenaur (and Gayton for that matter) apparently choose not to discuss this again?
Gerry Down Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Carver Gayton, in both his Church Committee and HSCA testimonies, states that Hosty told him that an older agent first opened the case on Oswald and then he retired and the case was passed on to Hosty. Obviously this is a reference to FBI agent Fain. The only thing I can think of is that Hosty told Carver Gayton that Fain met with Oswald in a parked car, which he did, and had asked Oswald to get in touch with the FBI if any soviet subversives tried to contact him in the U.S. which Oswald agreed to. One possibility is that when Carver Gayton then told this story to Gochenaur, Gochenaur mangled the story and thought that Hosty and Oswald had met in a car park. If this is the case, and I suspect it is, it demonstrates a significant inability on the part of Gochenaur to understand correctly what he is being told. And as a result, anything Gochenaur says that Moore or Gayton related to him is highly suspect in my opinion.
